| Strategic Masterplanning | Commission | MCA - SoS, Bologna | 2017 | Camerino, Italy | 5 months | 6 people | Research&Design

WSR – Workshop Ricostruzione Camerino is a workshop of participatory design and planning promoted by the architecture firm MC Architects, which in collaboration with SOS - School of Sustainability, has been called to support the Camerino Municipality for the drafting of a document that provides and establishes strategic guidelines for the development of the future reconstruction plan for Camerino and its territories. The reconstruction process taking origin from a vision of the future, as an intermediate transition moment between emergency and resiliency, sustainable and regenerative development of the territory and as an opportunity to rethink it. To build such a complex vision and ensure a dialogue between urban planning, architectural and community planning, WSR aims to promote the maximum transparency of all aspects of decision making thorughout the applied research and the participatory process. WSR intend to outline a shared scenario that fully involves the community in order to empower the historical and affective memory of the local heritage. https://wsrcamerino.wordpress.com/

Selinous+ aims to improve the usability and accessibility of Selinunte Archaeological Park. The project provides a special attention to the design of new open space, to the enhancement and integration of the paths and the service areas, through minimum intervention, modular and with a high level of adaptability. Selinous+ provides the assembly of five basic modules (+footboard, +parapet, +frame, +bench, +drape), made with simple and off-grid technologies, which guarantee to the modules a great facility of assembly and disassembly.

The building is a volume of light. The brise soleil faรงade that delimits it, uniforming its stereometric surface. The complex functional program is ordered by few simple design choices: the use of a pure and rigorous volumetry, a modular and flexible design, the presence of patios, interior balconies and a large terrace: a real elevated plaza that looks at the surrounding landscape and the Black Sea. The widespread transparency of the volume contrasts with the opacity of the storage, functional core of the building, guarded like a precious treasure from solid walls that occupies the intermediate levels.

The courtyard-building system allows to develop good visual connections both between indoor spaces and between indoor and outdoor spaces. The choice of using the courtyard system is determined by the will to recall the typical spatial and functional organization of rural buildings in the Pianura Padana, where the centre of life and production – in this case, production of culture and knowledge – is the central courtyard. It is thought as the spatial and functional core around which all the other volumes are organized to define the configuration of the building. The morphological aspect of the project also intends to open towards the grove. The blocks of classrooms are therefore configured as offshoots that wind their way through the trees.

| Education & Culture | Graduation Thesis | University of Palermo | 2016 | Cammarata, Italy | 5 months | Individual work | Design, Drawing&Modeling, Graphics

Sicani Living Lab tries to exploit the potential of an unfinished viaduct, which becomes an opportunity for the recovery of the same artefacts, but also as a pretext for the requalification of an entire area, presenting as liason between the urban context of the city and the landscape offered by the surrounding park. The project is strategically articulated in four phases, designed specifically to fragment the process of completing the project, thus avoiding the risk of generating unfinished projects on unfinished works. In each of the phases, the project reaches a new state of incompleteness, and above all, a new status of completeness and possibility of usability of the area. The first phase involves the construction of a roof garden, panoramic view and open space accessible to all. The bridge and park union is completed in the second phase through the realization of vertical links. The last two phases include the creation of the indoor spaces dedicated to the Sicani Living Lab and it is characterized by the presence of laboratories and coworking for agricultural and food innovation.

Pacentro school was designed by the architecture firm MC Architects with the collaboration of LAP (Laboratorio Architettura Partecipata). Through the environmental analyzes carried out within the SoS - School of Sustainability team, have been verified the parameters of daylight, glare, solar radiation and thermal mass, defining and improving the environmental strategies to be applied to the project.

07 | Tambacounda Hospital Category Typology Workplace Year Location Duration Team Role

| Healthcare | Competition | MCA - SoS, Bologna | 2017 | Tambacounda, Senegal | 2 weeks | 7 people | Design, Drawing&Modeling

The purpose of the project is a concept design for the rehabilitation and expansion of the maternity and pediatric units of Tambacounda Hospital (one of the largest hospitals in western Africa), addressing the needs of the community and blending in with the natural and historical environment. In the area water and electricity scarcity is a major concern, therefore, the design strive to be as water and energy efficient as possible. The design proposal is based on an accurate analysis of the current situation (context, social and cultural aspects, climate) and follows an overall view of the “Maternity and Pediatric Ward inside the hospital. It can be summarized through 3 key words: improve, complete, connect. These keywords find a correspondence in likewise design operations that end up composing a proposal that can be eventually extended to the whole complex of the hospital.

| Well-Being | Academic work | University of Palermo | 2013 | Palermo, Italy | 2 months | 3 people | Design, Drawing&Modeling

The project, designed during the course of Architectural Design II at the University of Palermo, has the aim of the protected area requalification of the Nature Reserve of Montagnola and Acqua Fitusa, an area characterized by the presence of an old spa, now abandoned, which exploited the rich presence of sulfur water sources in the zone. The proposal foresees the design of a new spa with annexed services and the renovation of the former establishment. The court is the spatial and functional core of the project proposal, around which the renovated old spaces and the new ones are connected.

09 | Timber Co-Housing Category Typology Workplace Year Location Duration Team Role

| Housing | Competition | Freelance, Palermo | 2016 | Milan, Italy | 1 month | 2 people | Design, Drawing&Modeling, Graphics
