A piece of jewelry from Roberto Coin is more than just an ornament. His collections are inspired by Roman Baroque and Venetian Gothic architecture, by the flowers in his garden, by world cultures, fashion, the women who wear his jewelry, and by the possibilities of jewelry design itself. Roberto’s mission is to create jewelry that continually rewrites the codes of elegance. His creations are timeless and classic, yet unique. In order to avoid a homogeneous style, Roberto creates over 600 new models every year, often simply by adding an imaginative tweak to an existing design — gold beading on the border of a Princess Flower creation, a brushed finish on a previously polished surface, or mother-of-pearl inlays on a previously gold-only bangle collection. One slight variation can result in a completely different look.

Thus, the Princess collection becomes the Venetian Princess, the Princess Flower, or the Principessa, in one captivating variation after another of the delicate central floral motif. It could be a brushed finish, a polished surface, twisted gold wire at the borders, diamonds on the inner petals, mother-of-pearl, or even a touch of malachite or black jade. The interpretations are as endless as the imagination of the designer.
Likewise, the Barocco collection becomes the Byzantine Barocco, or the New Barocco, inspired by the architecture and other captivating motifs of Rome. The laurel leaf, for example, was a symbol of victory in Imperial Rome. It was also associated with prosperity and health. In jewelry, it is simply a beautiful motif that endures throughout time. The whimsical tassel pendants in the collection are inspired by Roman cupolas. There are also luxurious sautoir necklaces that can be wrapped into a multi-strand necklace or taken apart and worn 12 different ways. There is no end to the creative genius of Roberto Coin.
Roberto Coin is also conscious of his carbon footprint and committed to protecting human rights. He is a member of the board of directors of the World Diamond Council, the body that founded the Kimberley Process in partnership with the United Nations. Every diamond used in the firm’s creations are certified by the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme, which guarantees that it comes from conflict free zones. Roberto Coin is also committed to keeping his supply chain free of any gold furnished by producers who are suspected of human rights violations. This is in compliance with the regulations established by the Dodd Frank Act, which requires that the origins of all gold imported into the United States be certified conflict free.
