Consultants Corner

Welcome to the new CresCONNECT newsletter and the Consultants Corner part of this publication!

Just like the “Consultant Wrap” newsletter that was published previously, this part of the newsletter is curated for and dedicated to topics relevant to consultants.

There were some exciting new updates and products released late in 2024, so read on to catch up!

Dual Camera mode for Crestron 1 Beyond i12 & i20 cameras

Since the release of multi-camera mode using two i12 cameras, customer feedback has been loud and clear that the same feature would be desirable with an i12+i20 combo. Therefore, with the release of firmware update 1.1.103 we are pleased to now provide this highly usable feature!

Now, with the simple design of one i12 + one i20 camera paired over LAN, you can create a complete hands-off experience that will switch, track, or frame participants in a room. Alternatively, you can give the user the option to select which camera is the live feed.  Here is a quick overview of the newly added features.

• Switch automatically between cameras using visual cues to detect if a presenter is in the presentation area

• Front of room camera is configured for Group Framing (i12 only)

• Back of the room camera is configured for Presenter Tracking

• Simple set up with single USB 3.0 connection to video conferencing codec and both cameras on the same network

For a complete overview of this new configuration and a schematic showing how each connection is made.

NEW OVERVIEW

New Consultant Training Track

During a recent update to our entire course offering at the Crestron Training Institute (CTI), we have added a consultant-specific training track. This track is a short list of our courses that will be directly relevant to consultants and is a great starting place for people of all levels (graduate or senior) to upskill on Crestron.

To access this track, please be sure to log in to the www.crestron.com website and then follow the link to the CTI Dashboard. From there, you will be able to select “Consultant” as the course category.

AirMedia Wireless Conferencing & BYOM with CX-100 Flex systems & Videobar 70

While BYOM functionality has been available on X-Series Flex from Day 1, we have now added the ability for users to experience the flexibility of BYOM wirelessly.

This new functionality comes via the pairing of an AirMedia receiver and AM-TX3-100-I adaptor, with either a UC-CX100 series Flex or UC-B70-A-T-I (Videobar70).

For the user, the experience is unchanged from the previous workflow of connecting a USB-C cable to be presented with the option of BYOM mode, except now that connection is our wireless Connect Adaptor. For an overview of how combinations of AirMedia + Flex or Videobar70 go together:

We wanted to highlight some valuable feature updates to our True Blue Support page found at Crestron Community. You will now find it far easier to navigate quickly to all the resources you need as well as having it as a central point to be notified of any important updates to product or Help articles. We encourage support staff to make this their key Crestron home page.

Home Page

The new Home Page has a clean, simple look with access to all the newly published help articles and current events. It will list any article you have recently subscribed to and give you single click access to the community discussions and case logging process. This page also has a link to the Crestron Resource library which contains an extraordinary amount reference documentation. The Resource library is a one-stop shop for product & design resources and by far the best way to locate them.

Documentation Tab

This tab now links to all the web based Technical Documentation for the full Crestron product suite. This is a complete “how to” area with quick start guides, specs, features, config & design, programming information, deployment/provisioning info, FAQ etc. The Online Help or OLH Article Index search allows you to search all help articles across every product area. This has plenty of great tips & tricks for the site support & commissioning teams and is easily set out and presented via category.

Known Issues

You can now have full up-to-date visibility on any reported issues affecting Crestron products by using the Known Issue List. You can also subscribe to receive a daily update on anything added to the list. This should be mandatory for your key support staff and can save hours in troubleshooting time. There is also a button on this page that links you directly to our Crestron Security page where you can look up CVE data, reference guides or log any potential vulnerability.

Status

We have also added a Crestron Service Status tab to the Community site that gives you and your customers a single place to check on the status of services like XIO Cloud, myCrestron, Fusion & streaming media etc.

Flinders University: Crestron 1 Beyond Intelligent Video Solution

Flinders University was the winner of a recent project award at the Crestron ANZ Modern Work Summit 2024. And now YOU can see why! This video is a brilliant example of what can be achieved with a Crestron 1 Beyond Intelligent Video Solution. The new Flinders University City Campus occupies eight floors of a high-rise in Adelaide’s CBD. One of the jewels in the AV crown is a 25-person boardroom based on the Crestron Automate VX auto-tracking system. Flinders’ Senior IDS Technical Lead, Leigh Hoppenbrouwers, explains the design: “We have a 98-inch display at the end then an 86-inch display either side of the table, with a pair of One Beyond PTZ cameras. “We have three Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling 2 microphones over the space, which provide pickup and achieve the best resolution for the positional tracking provided by the mic arrays.” Olie Taylor, Service Delivery Manager from Diversified: “The ability to look directly across the table and still see your in-room colleagues, but also your far-end colleagues makes a big difference, helping to ensure everyone gets the same experience.
