Meet the Poster Artist Rianna Turner “Hooked on Jubilee”
The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce and Jubilee Festival of Arts Committee are proud to recognize Rianna Turner as the featured poster artist for the 31st Annual Jubilee Festival of Arts. This year’s artwork is a mixed media interpretation of a fly-fishing lure created mostly with a palette knife. This eye-catching piece blends warm neutrals and bright neon colors. “I grew up on the Gulf Coast, so water and fishing are just part of life. A few years ago, I began to paint the whimsical colorful lures that I grew up seeing and then expanded into fly fishing lures, which aren’t quite as common here,” said Turner. “No offense to local fishers, my husband is one, but style wise, bold vibrant feathery flies are kind of “one uppers”! They are art all on their own. I especially love the added interest that’s created by making this fly uncharacteristically huge.” The bright colors are what originally caught the festival chairman’s eye. “The way each inanimate fly or lure is drawn and then painted seems to come to life!” said Festival Chairman Meghan Battles. Turner says she does tend to gravitate toward playful colors. “These color combinations tend to reflect the way I live and see life; light, bright, adventurous, optimistic and sometimes surprising,” said Turner. Rianna Turner is married to Steven Turner and they have three children; Ellyana, Luke and Landry. They live in Mobile, Alabama.

Festival History
The Dogwood Trailmaids
The Jubilee Festival is two exciting days filled with arts, crafts, food, entertainment and fun all taking place on the streets of downtown Daphne, aptly called “The Jubilee City.” The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce hosts this wonderful event each year in cooperation with the City of Daphne. The Festival is growing each year and is enticing many new exhibitors as well as old favorites to the event and the Eastern Shore. The Jubilee Festival was created as a way to combine business, tourism and fun while showcasing the City of Daphne. The first planning committee selected the name Jubilee Festival due to the Jubilee phenomenon that occurs in areas around Mobile Bay and most frequently on the Eastern Shore. Antiques were featured during the first Jubilee Festival which was held in November 1989. During that first year, Main Street in Olde Towne Daphne was transformed into an “Antique Alley” with 60 vendor booths. In addition to antiques, there were arts and crafts booths as well as food and entertainment. 26 JUBILEE FESTIVAL OF ARTS 2019
Much of this continues today, except that antiques are no longer featured. The Jubilee Festival is a juried visual arts and crafts festival that currently features many artists and crafters from the local area and Southeast region along with entertainment, food court and Kids Art Park. In 2017, the festival changed its name to the Jubilee Festival of Arts, highlighting its expanding focus on all aspects of art. The Chamber added Southern Makers demonstrations & partnered with the World Food Championships to offer two qualifier competitions. The festival embracing a new logo for its 30th Anniversary and added the Jubilee Market and Chef Demonstrations in 2019. The Jubilee Festival of Arts has become an Eastern Shore tradition offering fun and excitement for visitors of all ages. The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce is pleased to provide this honored event for local residents and visitors.

McBride Companies and the Playa del Rio RV Resort are proud to support the Frank Brown International Songwriters’ Festival each year and look forward to the amazing talent this year! Welcome songwriters, family and friends!
The HAW5 Foundation
was formed to keep alive the energetic fun-loving spirit of Henry A Wise V. Henry was a fine young man who was very genuine and had a great attitude towards life. He was always smiling and singing, in a great mood, and never wasted a minute of the day. Henry was known as someone who included everyone. He was a popular and talented athlete with a strong inner faith and connection to Christ which allowed him to live with such a free spirit. He once said while out fishing with friends on Mobile Bay that “We live a pretty Incredible life”. This life included 16 years at Bayside Academy and attending camps like JH Ranch and Young Life - just a few of the important, impactful places that shaped Henry’s spirit during his short life.
McBride Companies & Playa del Rio RV Resort, Beach & Boat Club are proud to support the HAW5 Foundation. For more information about the foundation and to see how you can become a part of a great cause, visit
haw5.com
The HAW5 Foundation funds scholarships to all of the above organizations. 100% of the donations are gifted back to people in need. The HAW5 board consist of parents, siblings, friends, and a student who received the HAW5 scholarship. The scholarship allows that same student to match the contribution and make his or her own donation to a cause of their choice. The foundation will also always continue to support emergency and first response teams who in Henry’s case went over and beyond expectations in their search. We will forever be grateful to those men and women. We promise as advocates for HAW5 to help others however we can to live an incredible life as Henry did.
