Another summer has come and is almost gone – and it’s been a hot one! While it won’t be cool in Alabama for a good long while, the Junior League of Montgomery has not let the high temps stop them from getting out in the community to serve! If you have little children, you’re likely in full-on back to school mode. But take a second to relax, grab a cup of coffee and flip through this issue to look back on a successful summer for the League. The community placements we feature demonstrate our mission to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women, and improve the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

In the following pages, you will see all that our League members have been up to. We recap another fantastic Women’s Leadership Summit where hundreds of women came together to connect, learn and grow. It was inspiring, rewarding and refreshing. I’m already looking forward to the 2023 summit!

Shopping lovers rejoice! You can now shop ‘til you drop at the League office? Market 1926 has made a “store front” in addition to the online shop at jlmmarket1926.square.site, so you can shop for everything from JLM-branded goods, holiday décor, children’s items, gifts and more. Be on the lookout for a members-only event in September – details coming soon! And you can shop guilt free, because proceeds from this shop benefit the League’s efforts in the community.

Speaking of shopping…. the countdown to Holiday Market 2023 is on. Mark your calendars for October 5-8 for four days of shopping and fun. I will see you there!

From my very first provisional meeting, I have been hearing “you get out of the League what you put into it!” That statement may be cliché, but it’s true. Let this be a reminder as we head into the fall season – step out of your comfort zone, volunteer for something you’ve never done before, and introduce yourself to someone new. You never know what the League may bring you when you serve others!

Sincerely, Peyton Flowers League Logs Editor
