Height as a lifestyle From high mountains to the business consulting there is a long way full of enriching experiences and between both contexts there are similarities that are rooted in human nature itself.

And, who better to expose this idea than Carlos Carsolio? He was a skilled climber exploring new paths in the high verticality level for fifteen years and, after being between life and death on several occasions, sleeping in hammocks or on ice caves, he transferred his own experiences to the business sphere, where he keeps climbing from one success to another.

Currently, Carsolio underlines key aspects of organizational development to reflect on the factors that enable enterprises reach success through striking and meaningful climbing anecdotes, free flight, and innovation. In addition to this, he has given more than a thousand lectures to companies and institutions of over 300 000 participants During his childhood he grew up in a positive environment of progressive development, “as my parents were climbers, the instilled in me a vision of respect and love for nature, and as long as I can remember, I was attracted by vertical rock climbing because it was where I felt good, it was my space for expression, creativity, to gain knowledge, to overcome my fears and see the world “, shares the former climber.

In that sense, the approach that Carlos Carsolio applies to each project is “the gradual progress, because in the high-risk mountain climbing life is at stake and you should move on a pragmatic basis, step by step, in a visionary way and down to earth. “That curiosity, characteristic of human beings, led him to climb remote locations under difficult conditions, as one of his dreams was “to climb the walls I saw in books, such as Cerro Torre in Argentina, which is a stone flame, the symbol of high-level mountain climbing, and little by little, I got ready to take the big step and climb that mountain, “he recalls with emotion. Carlos Carsolio: un mexicano forjado en los retos La altura como forma de vida De la alta montaña a la consultoría empresarial existe un largo camino que está lleno de enriquecedoras experiencias y, entre ambos contextos, existen similitudes que están enraizadas en la propia naturaleza humana.

Y, ¿quién mejor para exponer esta idea que Carlos Carsolio? Él fue alpinista especializado explorando nuevas rutas en el plano de la alta verticalidad durante quince años y, después de estar entre la vida y la muerte en varias ocasiones –pernoctando en hamacas o en cuevas de hielo- trasladó sus vivencias al ámbito empresarial, donde sigue escalando de un éxito a otro.

Así, actualmente Carsolio resalta aspectos fundamentales del desarrollo organizacional para reflexionar sobre los factores que permiten alcanzar el éxito en toda empresa humana mediante impactantes y significativas anécdotas de

escalada, vuelo libre e innovación; además, ha impartido más de mil conferencias a empresas e instituciones, con la presencia de 300 mil asistentes.

Durante su niñez fue forjado en un sano pensamiento de desarrollo constante, “ya que mis padres eran alpinistas, me inculcaron una visón de respeto y amor a la naturaleza, y desde que tengo memoria me atrajo la escalada vertical en roca porque era donde más pleno me sentía, era mi espacio de expresión, de creatividad, para adquirir conocimiento, para superar mis miedos y conocer el mundo”, comparte el ex alpinista.

En ese sentido, el enfoque que Carlos Carsolio aplica en cada proyecto es “el progreso paulatino, porque en el alpinismo de alto riesgo está en juego la vida y debes avanzar de forma pragmática, paso a paso, de manera visionaria y con los pies en la tierra”. Esa curiosidad característica del ser humano le llevó a escalar lugares remotos en condiciones difíciles, ya que uno de sus sueños consistió “en subir las paredes que veía en libros, como el Cerro Torre, en Argentina,

que es una flama de piedras, es el símbolo del alpinismo de alto nivel y, poco a poco, me preparé para dar el gran paso y subir esa montaña”, recuerda con emoción. Asimismo, ha sido, hasta el momento, el único alpinista en haber conquistado los 14 Ochomiles, que son las cimas de más de ocho kilómetros de altura sobre el nivel de mar.

Esta manera de ver la vida explica por qué Carlos Carsolio también ha conquistado el ámbito de la consultoría empresarial, pues “para subir una montaña se requiere esfuerzo, disciplina y financiamiento, los mismos elementos para emprender una aventura empresarial. Y aunque modas van y vienen de management, la técnica es la misma: trabajar en clanes y tomar riesgos. Los humanos lo tienen en sus genes, porque vivieron durante milenios en la naturaleza, asumiendo riesgos, pensando como alpinistas. En un equipo de trabajo -ya sea en un viaje espacial, en el quirófano o en la empresa- el diseño, la implementación y la ejecución deben ser de alta efectividad”.

Sin embargo, el vivir aquí y ahora da un sentido más pleno a la existencia del empresario. “La

vida es una oportunidad única: no sabemos qué hubo antes ni qué habrá después. Casi muero tres veces y decidí luchar hasta el último instante; perdí a diez compañeros, ¡que eran gente capaz!, en escaladas de innovación y esa lección de la montaña me reafirmó que la vida es única. Debemos aprovecharla al máximo, desarrollar nuestro conocimiento técnico, físico, mental y espiritual para combinarlo y crecer. Y el mayor crecimiento sucede cuando aplicamos la creatividad”, afirma Carlos Carsolio.

Finalmente, el empresario imprime especial énfasis a esta lección: “La esencia exploratoria nos da enorme plenitud porque genera dopamina y la comunicación neuronal hace al cerebro feliz: un escalador siente lo mismo que un cazador tras el mamut y con esa sensación de plenitud no es necesario ninguno de los alicientes que vende Occidente, es decir, el reconocimiento, porque la plenitud va hacia adentro. Busquen metas que impliquen creatividad, enfocadas a soluciones e innovación, porque creciendo a través de las metas interiores, podrán crecer hacia afuera”.

The Golf Channel will transmit information capsules during the days of the tournament.

On Monday, November 11th, players and practice rounds will be registered. On Tuesday, the activity in the tournament operated by Ochoa Group will continue as well as practice rounds and registration of the players. The Turtle Dunes-OGAC taught by the Spanish Azahara Munoz will be open to the public at 15:45 pm. In the evening, the ProAm Pairing Party will be celebrated at the Hotel Riu Plaza Guadalajara.

On Wednesday 13th, the official tournament activity will start with the Pro-Am tournament, where the first tee time will be from 7:15 hrs. The award ceremony of the tournament will be held in the Commercial Zone of Guadalajara Country Club, at 6 pm.

On Thursday, the first round of the tournament will begin at 10:50 am, where the last tee time will be held at 12:51 pm. The hospitalities will be open from 11 am to 8 pm. The commercial area will be open from 9 am to 12 am.

On Friday, the second round of the tournament will be at the same-time schedule. The Lorena Ochoa Foundation dinner will be celebrated at the Hotel Riu Plaza Guadalajara.

On Saturday, the activity for the third round will begin since 10:50 am.

On Sunday, the final round will start since 8:50 am. The award ceremony will take place on the 18th hole since 4 pm or so.

This year many things will change to make you feel more comfortable.

For the first time, you are allowed to bring your cell phone to the tournament, but you should keep it in silent mode.

All children from 0 to 16 years will not pay admission ticket; it is not allowed to bring cameras or video cameras, mobile devices and/or electronic devices other than mobile phones.

The commercial area of the tournament will be open since Thursday, from 9 am to 12 am, restaurant operations will start at 1 pm until midnight during Thursday and Friday, on Saturday, since 12 pm and on Sunday, since 11 am.

The Lorena Ochoa Invitational, presented

by Banamex (LOI), is the most important tournament in Latin America.

The LPGA Tour welcomes the best golfers in the world since 2008 in the golf course at the Guadalajara Country Club where Lorena Ochoa learned to play golf.

The sixth edition of LOI will take place from 14 to 17 November 2013. This event will be attended by: El Lorena Ochoa Invitational, presentado por Banamex (LOI), es el torneo más importante de Latinoamérica.

Dentro del circuito de la LPGA recibe desde 2008 a las 36 mejores golfistas del mundo, en el Guadalajara Country Club, el campo de golf donde Lorena Ochoa aprendió a jugar golf.

La sexta edición de LOI se realizará del 14 al 17 de noviembre del 2013. El torneo de golf más importante de Latinoamérica Las mejores en el Lorena Ochoa Invitational, Presentado por Banamex Durante el evento habrán capsulas que se transmitirán a través de Golf Channel, durante los días del torneo.

Para el lunes 11 de noviembre, se celebrará el registro de jugadoras y las rondas de práctica. El martes, la actividad en el torneo operado por Grupo Ochoa continuará, donde seguirán las rondas de práctica, el registro de las jugadoras, la clínica Turtle Dunes-OGA impartida por la española Azahara Muñoz, la cual será abierta al público iniciará a las 15:45 horas. En la noche se estará celebrando el Pairing Party Pro-Am, en el Hotel Sede RIU Plaza Guadalajara.

El miércoles 13, la actividad oficial del torneo arrancará con el torneo Pro-Am, donde el primer tee time será a partir de las 7:15 horas. La premiación del torneo se celebrará en la Zona Comercial del Guadalajara Country Club, a las 18:00 horas.

Para el jueves, la primera ronda del torneo arrancará en punto de las 10:50 horas, donde

el último tee time se celebrará a las 12:51 horas. Los hospitalities estarán abiertos desde las 11:00 horas hasta las 20:00 horas. La zona comercial estará abierta desde las 09:00 horas hasta las 00:00 horas.

El viernes, la segunda ronda del torneo tendrá los mismos horarios, donde además, se celebrará la cena de la Fundación Lorena Ochoa, en el Hotel RIU Plaza Guadalajara.

Para el sábado la actividad de la tercera ronda iniciará a partir de las 10:50 horas.

El domingo, la ronda final iniciará a partir de las 8:50 horas. La premiación tendrá lugar en el hoyo 18 a partir de las 16:00 horas, aproximadamente.

Este año varias cosas cambiarán, para una mejor comodidad para ti, donde por primera ocasión, estará permitido el ingreso de celulares al torneo, pero únicamente debes cuidar que tu dispositivo se encuentre en modo de silencio.

Los niños de 0 a 16 años no pagarán boleto

de ingreso; asimismo, no está permitido el ingreso de cámaras de video o fotográficas, ni dispositivos móviles y/o electrónicos, que no sean celulares.

La zona comercial del torneo estará abierta desde el jueves, de 09:00 a 00:00 horas; la operación de restaurantes desde las 13:00 horas hasta la media noche, durante el jueves y viernes; para el sábado, desde las 12:00 horas, y para el domingo, desde las 11:00 horas.

Por primera ocasión tendremos música en vivo en la zona comercial, donde el jueves podrás disfrutar a partir de las 18:00 horas de artistas como: Grupo del Country LIFE, Carlos Robles Rock, Homero Rendón y Dj Miguelito. El viernes podrás disfrutar de bandas y mariachi como Guanatos Brass Band, Coco y Razo, y el Mariachi Nuevo Continental. El sábado podrás disfrutar de La Garfield, Dos19 y Mariachi Nuevo Continental. n 2000, Vicente Fox became the first president who did not come from the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI). He put an end to the 72 years of “perfect dictatorship” says Mario Vargas Llosa. n el año 2000, Vicente Fox Quesada se convertiría en el primer presidente no emanado de las filas del Revolucionario Institucional (PRI), acabado así con los 72 años de la “dictadura perfecta”, a decir de Mario Vargas Llosa. Por un breve instante, Fox se inscribió en la historia de las transiciones democráticas latinoamericanas como el personaje que pudo dar solución al único caso que se salía del paradigma regional: México.

En él se depositaron todas las esperanzas de un pueblo, sistemáticamente engañado por estructuras de poder caducas. El objetivo, dar el salto necesario para sepultar el antiguo régimen y comprobar que todas la décadas de oposición panista, serían credenciales suficientes para encabezar una nación.

En términos macroeconómicos, perfecta continuidad del gobierno de Ernesto Zedillo, propiciando la entrada de capital extranjero y garantizando la seguridad de sus inversiones. En términos políticos, ampliación inteligible de la esfera pública y mayor involucramiento de la sociedad civil organizada que, por vez primera, empezaba a confiar en las instituciones democráticas.

De forma general y antes de entrar a detalle, la asunción de Vicente Fox representó un hito en la historia contemporánea de nuestro país; sin embargo, su lugar está condicionado por la coyuntura más que por los valores intrínsecos del ex gobernador de Guanajuato, que hasta hoy en día se mantiene frente a los reflectores.

La literatura como centro de un gran festejo

El evento que inició como un encuentro editorial, allá por el año de 1987, hoy es un suceso que ha ce de Guadalajara, cada año, el centro del mundo cultural a la par que foment a el turismo y deja una derrama económ ica estimada en cientos de millones de dólares.

Creada por inicia tiva de la Universidad de Gu adalajara, la Feria Internacional del Lib ro de Guadalajara (mejor conocida como FIL) es el mayor mercado mundial de publicaciones en español y convoca du rante nueve días a editores, agentes lit erarios, promotores de lectura, traductore s, distribuidores y bibliotecarios para viv ir un intercambio comercial y profesion al, junto con más de 600 mil visitant es. (Cabe destacar otras estimulantes cifras: tiene 34 mil metros cuadra dos de área de exposición, casi 2 mi l casas editoriales de 40 países, una do cena de galardones para reconocer la ca lidad de destacados autores, mil horas de actividades y 470 presentaciones de lib ros).

La FIL se ha consoli dado como un punto de encuentro para la discusión en torno a la cultura contemporánea y como puente para es trechar lazos entre México e Hispanoa mérica con otras culturas, de manera que cada edición tiene a un país Inv itado de Honor. Y este año ese sitio le corresponde a Israel que, del 30 de noviembre al 8 de diciembre, mostr ará lo mejor de su producción editorial y artística.

Llama mucho la at ención que el evento atrae cada ve z a un mayor número de jóvenes (este añ o acudirán más de 100 mil) de todo el mu ndo, cuyo interés en la cultura y en las manifestaciones artísticas es complem entado con las maravillas propias qu e ofrece la capital jalisciense. ¡Es un suceso fuera de serie!

GUADALAJARA INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR LITERATURE AS A GREAT CELEBRATION CENTER

The event that began as a publishing encounter back in 1987, is today an event that makes Guadalajara, every year, the center of the cultural world which at the same time promotes tourism and provides an economic benefit of hundreds of millions dollars.

Created at the initiative of the University of Guadalajara, the International Book Fair of Guadalajara (better known as FIL) is the largest world market for publications in Spanish and brings together publishers, literary agents, reading promoters, translators, distributors, and librarians during nine days to experience a commercial and professional exchange along with over 600 thousand visitors. (It should be noted other interesting figures: it has 34 thousand square meters of exhibition space, almost 2000 publisher houses from 40 countries, a dozen international awards to recognize the quality of outstanding writers, thousand hours of activities, and 470 book presentations.

The FIL has become a meeting point for discussion about contemporary culture and as a bridge to strengthen ties between Mexico and Latin America with other cultures, so that each edition has a country as a Guest of Honor. And this year, from November 30 to December 8, the site is incumbent upon Israel where it will show the best of its publishing and artistic production.

It gets a lot of attention that the event attracts more and more young people (this year, it will be attended by more than 100 000) from all the world, whose interest in culture and artistic expression is complemented by the own wonders that offers to the capital of Jalisco. A remarkable event!

Galardón a lo mejor de la industria jalisciense Fue entregada la XXXIII Medalla al Mérito Industrial en Jalisco Jalisco tiene muchos aspectos por los cuales puede jactarse de ser el mejor estado del país y, para sustentar lo anterior, el pasado 25 de octubre, el Consejo de Cámaras Industriales de Jalisco entregó la XXXIII Medalla al Mérito Industrial a Armando Gómez Ibarra de la Mora, Presidente del Consejo de Administración de Grupo Chocolate Ibarra, empresa con 88 años de historia en el mercado nacional y 67 de tener presencia internacional.

El evento fue realizado en Expo Guadalajara, a donde acudieron líderes empresariales y funcionarios del gobierno municipal, estatal y federal, como Jorge Aristóteles Sandoval Díaz, Gobernador del Estado de Jalisco -quien entregó el galardón y aseguró que los

empresarios son piezas clave en la cadena que mueve a Jalisco por su gran responsabilidad social y económica con la ciudadanía-, Enrique Ramos Ruiz, Secretario de Turismo de la misma entidad; Francisco Funtanet Mange, Presidente de la Confederación de Cámaras Industriales de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos, así como Enrique Jacob Rocha, Presidente del Instituto Nacional del Emprendedor.

Asimismo, junto con el premio otorgado a Grupo Chocolate Ibarra, fueron entregados reconocimientos a otros 19 industriales destacados en los rubros alimenticio, de artes gráficas, inmobiliario, tequilero y textil, entre muchos más.

“Cuale... up there in the mountains”

This lovely town is located high in the Sierra Madre, its Nahuatl name means “a place close to heaven” and suits it perfectly because it is on the top of the mountain and nestled in the hills. There, two thousand feet high, is where the river that runs through Puerto Vallarta is born.

The road that goes to town starts in the bridge of PuertoVallarta beltway where, after crossing the river, curve after curve you reach the old mining town. The village of San Pedro is 20 km away and is a point of reference for the walkers who go to Talpa. A little further ahead, you may stop in Los Lobos to enjoy the view of the mountains where can be seen from there. Some fifteen kilometers ahead, you can see the dome of the church, bright and nestled among the hills.

Tile roofs, wet from the rain and patient after years, welcome who is coming. There is nothing here: there was. Now there is only peace, hills and friendly people. Also stories …... and lots of them. I let the town tell me their afflictions. The empty houses. Nobody in the streets. Some kids joked about me. I fell in love with the town. // El pueblo de Cuale acurrucado entre los cerros donde nacen las aguas del río que llega a Puerto Vallarta. // The small town of Cuale is hidden within the hills where the water from the rivers of Puerto Vallarta are born.

“Cuale... allá arriba entre las montañas” Trepado en las montañas de la Sierra Madre se encuentra el bonito pueblo de Cuale, a quien su nombre náhuatl “un lugar cerca del cielo” le viene cómo anillo al dedo por estar tan alto y tan metido entre los cerros. Ahí, a los dos mil metros de altura, es en donde nace el río que pasa por Puerto Vallarta.

La carreterita que va al pueblo, arranca del puente del libramiento de Puerto Vallarta en donde, después de cruzar el río, curva tras curva se llega hasta el viejo pueblo minero. A los 20 km. está la ranchería San Pedro, punto de referencia para los caminantes que van a Talpa. Un poco más delante, en Los Lobos habrá que detenerse para disfrutar del panorama de los mares de montañas que de ahí se divisan. Unos quince kilómetros más delante ya se podrá ver la cúpula de la iglesia, brillante y cobijada entre los cerros.

Los techos de teja, húmedos por la lluvia y pacientes por dejar pasar los años, dan la bienvenida a quien va llegando. Aquí no hay nada: hubo. Ahora no hay más que paz, cerros y gente amable. Historias también… y por montones. Dejé que el pueblo mismo me contara sus cuitas. Las casas solas. Nadie en las calles.

Unos chiquillos bromeaban sobre mi presencia. Me enamoré del pueblo.

Cuale fue un lugar muy importante a mediados del 1800 cuando “la gran bonanza” de plata, plomo y cobre lo puso en el mapa. Aquí fue instalado el primer teléfono de la región; mucho antes que en Guadalajara o en Las Peñas (hoy Puerto Vallarta). Cien años después, “la fiebre del oro” atrajo a cientos de gambusinos (chorrilleros), que buscaban pepitas de oro en los arroyos. Cuentan que algunos lograban hasta 20 y 30 gramos por día. Tuve la suerte de haber conocido al último “chorrillero” viviente: Don Pedro Carrillo, quien a sus más de 86 años me platicó unas mil quinientas leyendas: verdadero tesoro que no se compra con dinero.

El haber tenido la oportunidad de convivir serena y calmadamente con la familias del pueblo escuchando sus historias, pagaron con creces las expectativas que tenía del azaroso viaje hasta Cuale, que orgullosamente hace honor a su nombre nahuatl de “un lugar cerca del cielo” conservándose auténtico y lejano al bullicio de Puerto Vallarta.

Cuale was a very important place in the mid-1800s when the “big bonanza” of silver, copper and lead put it in the map. The first telephone in the region was installed here much earlier than in Guadalajara or Las Peñas (now Puerto Vallarta). One hundred years later, “the Gold Rush” attracted hundreds of prospectors (corrilleros) who looked for gold nuggets in streams. People say, some of them used to get 20 to 30 grams per day. I was lucky to have known the last “chorrillero” alive, Don Pedro Carrillo, who at the age of 86 told me about 15 hundred legends: true treasure that cannot be bought with money.

Having had the opportunity to spend time quietly and calmly with the families of the town and listening to their stories, exceeded the expectations I had about the hazardous journey to Cuale, that proudly lives up to its Nahuatl name of “a place close to heaven” preserving its authenticity and far from the bustle of Puerto Vallarta.
