Oaxaca decks itself with the great cultural event Instrumenta, whose resonance is reaffirmed in each edition; a walk on the road, from Mexico City to Teotihuacan, is equivalent to traveling through time in one day, as with Aguascalientes, home of the famous Calaveras Festival which celebrates the engraver José Guadalupe Posada and the Day of the Dead celebration.

Encuentro académico-artístico que cautiva al público Estas actividades académicas y artísticas tienen como sede la Ciudad de Oaxaca, donde convergen jóvenes músicos deseosos de perfeccionar su técnica interpretativa en un programa que ha demostrado ser un impulsor de talento, dado que muchos instrumentistas que formaron parte de sus filas hoy ocupan los atriles principales en orquestas de México y el extranjero.

These academic and artistic activities are hosted in Oaxaca City, where young musicians converge eager to perfect their interpretive technique in a program that has proven to boost talent, since many musicians who took part in it, today occupy main orchestra stands in Mexico and abroad.

The edition of Instrumenta Oaxaca 2014, will be held from November 12th to the 23rd, and will bring together 250 musicians from Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador and Cuba, who will work on technical expertise and musical instruments of wood, metal and strings along with recognized teachers from the international arena. Magia, belleza, misticismo y tradición viva… …eso es la muy mexicana Celebración de Muertos en Aguascalientes Uno de los festejos mexicanos más interesantes que existen es la celebración a los difuntos, ya que desde su origen mezcla la nostalgia, la alegría, los colores y los sabores propios de este hermoso país.

One of the most interesting Mexican celebrations there is the celebration of the dead, since its origins it mixes nostalgia, joy, colors and flavors specific to this beautiful country.

It is a custom in permanent evolution, and one of its forms has flourished in a picturesque way in Aguascalientes: it is the famous Calavera Festival, which in late October to early November rescues and preserves the cult of the dead, surprising citizens and visitors of all ages with a grand Calavera Parade, when floats cross the Avenida Madero, in the historic downtown area.

To this story we add an homage to Jose Guadalupe Posada, the illustrious writer and cartoonist born in Aguascalientes, who created the character of La Catrina, whose original name is Calavera Garbancera.

l pasado 1 de octubre, el titular de la Secretaría de Hacienda y Crédito Público (SHCP), Luis VIdegaray Caso, presentó la edición de este 2014 de El Buen Fin, cuyo objetivo es el de ofrecer a las familias mexicanas los mejores precios y ofertas del mercado en diversos productos, que este año se celebra del 14 al 17 de noviembre.

Al igual que en sus otras ediciones, la Procuraduría Federal del Consumidor (Profeco) se comprometió a vigilar las ofertas que las empresas y comercios ofrecerán durante los días de duración que tendrá el referido programa, que se lleva a cabo en México por tercer año consecutivo.

“Por medio de un exhaustivo monitoreo, se evitará que los comercios incurran en publicidad engañosa durante el Buen Fin, al anunciar descuentos después de haber incrementado el costo de los productos”, explicó Enrique Solana, presidente de la Confederación de Cámaras Nacionales de Comercio, Servicios y Turismo (ConcanacoServytur).

El año pasado, las ventas totales durante el fin de semana largo de El Buen Fin fueron superiores a los 160 mil millones de pesos, un aumento de diez por ciento comparado con la cifra alcanzada en 2012, cuando las ventas ascendieron a casi 150 mil millones de pesos.

Para esta nueva versión de El Buen Fin, se espera rebasar tales cantidades e incluso se habla de un estimado en ventas por 200 mil millones de pesos, hecho que demostrará los beneficios sociales y de circula-

ción de capital que redituarán del aprovechamiento de los descuentos y ofertas para reactivar la economía interna de México, principal finalidad de esta estrategia implementada desde 2011.

E l B l ac k F r i day, s u b a s e Como ya se conoce, El Buen Fin está basado en el llamado Black Friday (Viernes Negro) de Estados Unidos, mismo que se celebra el viernes después del Día de Acción de Gracias, lo que a su vez marca el inicio de la temporada de ventas decembrinas.

Aunque de acuerdo a los habitantes de la frontera norte del país, las ofertas de El Buen Fin no se equiparan a las del Black Friday, la iniciativa mexicana es bien recibida tanto por los consumidores estadounidenses como por los mexicanos.

De 2012 a la fecha, la Concanaco-Servytur ha registrado un ascenso en el cruce de estadounidenses a las ciudades fronterizas mexicanas, precisamente durante el fin de semana en que se desarrolla El Buen Fin, dado que es una fecha extra en la que aprovechan para adquirir algunos productos incluso previo a la celebración de su Viernes Negro.

El Gobierno Federal planeó que El Buen Fin se celebre una semana antes de la versión original norteamericana, esto para que los mexicanos que viven en la zona fronteriza inviertan su dinero dentro de México y cumplir con la reactivación de la economía nacional.

ast October 1st , the head of the Secretary of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP), Luis Videgaray Caso, presented the 2014 edition of El Buen Fin (The Good Weekend), whose aim is to provide Mexican families the best prices and deals of the market in various products, which this year takes place from November 14 to November 17.

As in previous editions, the Federal Consumer Office (PROFECO) promised to monitor the deals that companies and businesses will offer during the days of the referred program, which takes place in Mexico for the third consecutive year.

“Through extensive monitoring we will prevent businesses to incur in misleading advertising during El Buen Fin, as in announcing discounts after increasing the cost of goods,” explained Enrique Solana, President of the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Concanaco-Servytur).

Last year, total sales during the long weekend in El Buen Fin exceeded 160 billion pesos, a ten percent increase over the number achieved in 2012, when sales amounted to nearly 150 billion pesos.

This bread is special because it is part of the celebration of the Day of the Dead, named after its circular shape it represents the skull of the deceased and the ornaments symbolize the bones, thus being November the only time to savor its taste, so gladly we share its recipe.

Assemble a kilo of flour, 30 grams of yeast, 300 grams of sugar, a little salt, 8 eggs, 100 grams of butter, 80 grams of vegetable shortening and a cup of water. Mix flour with yeast forming a source; salt, sugar and butter is then added. Eggs and water are added, kneading them for half an hour or for 15 minutes with an electric mixer. Let stand until the dough doubles in size, shape loaves, decorating them with bones made of dough and sprinkle with ​​ sugar.

Finally, put the pieces in a preheated oven at 180 ºC for 25 minutes.

¡Pan de temporada!

Este pan es muy especial, ya que forma parte de la celebración del Día de Muertos, nombrado así, pues su forma circular representa el cráneo del difunto y los ornamentos simbolizan los huesos, por lo cual noviembre es la única fecha para degustar su sabor, así que con gusto compartimos su receta.

Reunir un kilo de harina, 30 gramos de levadura, 300 gramos de azúcar, un poco de sal, 8 huevos, 100 gramos de mantequilla, 80 gramos de manteca vegetal y una taza de agua. Mezclar la harina con la levadura formando una fuente; se le añade sal, azúcar y mantequilla. Se agregan los huevos y el agua, amasándolos durante media hora o 15 minutos con batidora. Dejar reposar hasta que la masa duplique su tamaño, dar forma a los panes, decorándolos con huesos hechos con la misma masa y espolvoreándolos con azúcar. Finalmente, meter las piezas al horno precalentado a 180ºC durante 25 minutos.

a mujer levantó la mano para decir ´aquí estoy´, y la fuerza de su carácter y voluntad de servir, combinada con la delicadeza y valores como la honestidad, ya se ven reflejados en el éxito del operativo Salvando Vidas, gracias al cual, desde su inicio en noviembre de 2013 a la fecha, son menos las familias enlutadas a raíz de accidentes viales por la fatal combinación de alcohol y volante.

Son mujeres quienes, luego de una intensa preparación y de modificar su estilo de vida, por las noches son protagonistas de este programa que, además de enviar un claro mensaje a la sociedad con el solo montaje de los operativos, mediante sanciones y medidas de seguridad ejemplares, inhiben el mal hábito de conducir un vehículo en estado de ebriedad.
