Performance Art Did you ever learn to live & breathe as the luminous power, purpose & pleasure that you are?

PROPOSAL A Performance Art piece based on the poetic imagery of the American poets, memoirists, musicians, and civil rights activists: James Weldon Johnson by Jahna Houston, Gertrude "Ma" Rainey, Bessie Smith, Koko Taylor, Sojourner Truth by Alfre Woodard and Maya Angelou. Our proposal moves on horseback between the virtuosity of spoken word, and the revaluation of all corporal poetry. Individuals modify an aspect of their behavior in response to their awareness of being observed. Very act of measurement -of nothingness- could have a significant positive impact on your community daily routine. People communicate through a join act, exploring something undefined. The wooden slat fence/box, containing the performer, becomes a sort of capsule when the passage of time inside is staggered versus time outside. Time & space are called into question, for the viewer, who has no idea exactly what is taking place in the present moment.

It should be noted that these verbal movements never move away from the literary tradition-because the historical memory and the collective identity is one of the cultural fronts, but the main task of experimentation, promoting the renewal, modernization and reinterpretation of cultural tradition. Take a peek at the hard life and many accomplishments of Harlem Reinassence's world having a look at the World created inside the wooden box. The intervention comes up from some of her short poems, confronting words and silence, light and obscurity, movement and calmness.

Performance Art

GS presents a set of artistic practices which take as their theoretical and practical point of departure the whole of human relations and their social context, rather than an independent and private space. That is to say that GS projects tend to break with the traditional physical and social space of the art gallery and the requested artist studio or atelier. GS takes as its subject the entirety of life as it is lived, or the dynamic social environment, rather than attempting a from daily life. The body, its materiality, is the only unavoidable instance to which the human being is subjected. Your weight and your skin, your shape and your sensitivity are part of who we are. Invisibility the body, gesture and potentiality uncertanty, amnesia and dissatisfaction, an irreducible unreality, reasons for discontent and rejection, you return to the body the value you have and you are saved from oblivion and automation. The performer will be into a wooden box and invite people to taking care of her, for getting me out of the abyss that I look for herself, (through the holes around the box), encourage them to feel the happiness that their presences always bring to the performer and letting her believe that music and performance art can be combined to make a tribute to Harlem Reinassence artists..

This presentation will combine poetry, voice, image and sound, in order to engage the audience in an accessible and artful representation of a suite of collaborative artmaking works by drawing from the literature, music regarding the synergies between form and content inherent in the arts-as-research. The embodied artist/researcher and her varying identities can be expressed artfully through an everexpanding rhizomatic relationship with the audience. Inside the wooden box, artist thus takes on the 3. IMPLICIT EMBODIMENT 10' persona of a universal alter ego, pushing her form through the challenges of ancestral & cultural Diverse items inside the box/ lights appropriation. In this way, arguing for more accessible and democratic access to research and posits ways to support people in poetic descriptions of research evidence and narrative translations. This TRACK: Still I Rise by Maya Angelou performance will privilege notions of representation and re-presentation, particularly as they align with the conference theme of Black American Women identity and democratic access to inquiry, 4. AMPLIFY VITALITY 10' seeking to yield several ‘gifts’. Such modalities continue to defy and confront research re-presentation mediums such as the traditional show format, since these modes do not ‘fit’ such conventions. GS seeks to push forms of dissemination and allows for myriad interpretations of its own constraints, as will happen in this brief EPHEMERAL PERFORMANCE ART ENSEMBLE public art piece.

Human Environmental Interaction is the most important issue to involve Short North community spirit along this performance art piece. This district intervenes with the surroundings in many ways providing a feeling of home away from home for thousands of visitors every day. In those terms, GS offers a diverse approach and interaction, the goal is to create a common circumstance from the constructed social environment becoming in an art piece, only there, our task as artists is to be a conduit for this social experience. To that end, often creating a physical space to be used for a particular (often ephemeral) performance art piece, almost anything could them: a communal meal, a discussion. Rescuing collective conscious, economically sound, surrounded by beautiful nature with the unique quality of life and heritage of this charming, meaningful artistic district in Columbus. Create a bridge between citizens of the World seeing beyond our own social interaction bubble. GS makes live interventions inspired by punk, comics, cinema, science, nightmares & dreams by live soundscaping & our own style of visceral movement theater & dance. Our work is a catharsis through collision and conflict challenging how we see the audience, architecture, music, history, myth, and reality. It comes out of a deep desire for conspiracy, soul-exchange, and transformation.
