If you want to know what a given society believes in, look at what its largest buildings are devoted to – Joseph Campbell
YOU + Color
I, Alejandra Botero, am a fifth year architecture student at Florida International University. I am now living in Miami but I was born in Colombia. I enjoy traveling and lived in Italy last year. I have been to more than 60 cities between the countries of Mexico, Bahamas, Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, United States and Colombia. I carry a love for unknown places, meeting people, learning other cultures and experiencing an uncomplicated way of traveling. Other hobbies are reading, drawing, skating, making furniture, listening to rock and walking unknown paths. The colors that represent my life are black, white and soft colors. Nothing too bright that is hard to look at. When it gets to clothing, anything that is comfortable will do it. I look at a more simple and convenient way of living.

Summary In conclusion, the building is organized in a diagonal grid that reflects more as an exploded cubist painting. It uses the images and color to represent an “universe of contrasting images like the original concept by Mies Van Der Rohe. The design allows for communication and the symbols to represent information of functionality through the entire building. RETAIL + Color
Contrast of Hue Black and white are used to contrast color but keep the same shape and texture of the tile. This helps create a dynamic space where furniture is part of the architecture and gives a comfortable place for customers in the show room.
23
Contrast of Value Different shades of blue are used in the fountain of the show room in order to show different options for pools and fountains. The lighter tile around the exhibition emphasized the darker ones and helps make a better comparison for clients.
24
Contrast of Design Feature The following pictures are from the same space but with different lighting conditions. This is a mosaic that recharges with light and give a different color when turned off. When the light is on, it works as a frame for the mirror but when it is off, it has a lot of contrast and gives a sense of space.
25
Contrast of Texture The contrast between the texture of the mosaic and the wall is very clear. The store is painted in white all around which keeps emphasis in the tile and the different colors and textures that they offer.

P/S AND U/H + Color
Refers more to spatial qualities and the effects that color has. They were more mathematical topics which related to the colors and the harmonies as well. It helps to realize all the effects that color has in every element in an interior space and the effects of putting different colors together. It all transmits a mood and gives personality to a room, it doesn't only have an effect on spatial quality but it gives feeling to a space. This is very important when designing a space and very meaningful information to transmit a message or feeling through a space.Â

Four Seasons Lobby Interior When visiting the Four Seasons, some of the characteristics that impacted me the most were the amount of patterns around the lobby byt keeping the elegance. From the walls to the floors to the furniture, everything keeps a pallet consisting of oranges and browns in different tones. The light lso plays an important roll to emphasize different aspects and spaces. More solid objects also get the attention of the visitors such as the Boteros’ sculptures. The combination of solid colors and patterns balances the room and gives a dynamic environment.

Four Seasons Exterior The other aspect that caught my attention was the exterior and the colors in the flowers and the marble. First, the colors of the flowers get the attention of everyone who is passing by and gives a good image without even having to go in. Second, the colors used in the flowers were put over very neutral colors so it gives balance to the space and the image that is being portrayed. The flowers are that key component that gives life to the entrance and the rest of the building. It becomes a neutral pattern.

APPLICATION + Color
This color palette is very powerful because of the neutrality of most of the colors and the yellow standing out, taking the viewers attention. It is very elegant and simple but it has all the potential to make an impacting visual connection. The yellow works as a highlighting for the details and reflects an optimistic image. It is the color of sunshine, spring and creativity.
39
Description I used the yellow which was the color that would catch most of the attention for one of the biggest elements and complimented it with lighter and more neutral colors such as gray. I also used the yellow for smaller details such as the cushions and a lighter shade for the carpet and the curtains. Then, I used a darker gray for one of the couches and a small element of the other in order to enhance the yellow and the lighter colors of the room.

PROJECT: AutoDesk DESIGNER: Gensler LOCATION: San Francisco, California
WORKPLACE + Color
Line The lines in the design a pattern along the working areas in order to add dynamism into the spaces. This emphasizes the concept of pavilions and 3D design that Autodesk develops in different software.
Shape The shapes that make up the different pavilions along the offices follow the properties the material but give a three dimensional feel. This emphasizes the concept of the company and it is portrayed in their work space.
43
Texture Texture is more common in the furniture around the office and smaller details. It can also be noticed in the walls that help reflect the concept of the building.
Pattern The pattern of the wood draws the visitors attention and is where most of the idea of Autodesk is based on. They want to portray the three dimensionality of their software and the patterns around, portray the idea better.
44
45
CONCLUSION| EXPERIENCE In conclusion, the design of a space, specially of a company with such a define concept, should portray that. It should be based on what it wants to transmit to its visitors and Autodesk does a great job with it. Each corner is designed to portray their ideas and convey their costumers.

My CULTURE and country is Colombia and I have chosen Spain to learn about their culture and how they use color. I have visited three times and I find their way of living, cities, customs and culture fascinating. The colors used in most of the cultural events or objects in Colombia represent the colors of the flag. Every color is very meaningful and people is very patriotic when participating in any event. It can be seen in the dresses, artifacts, handcrafted items, architecture and in many objects around the country. Other secondary colors are added in many cultural events. Spain Â

COLOR palette The yellow represents hope and happiness. Also, it is the color of energy and light which is also in the flag. Red is a very emotional and intense color. Here, it is used for many different purposes depending on the event. This color is used to represent the architecture and the city. It mains the natural color of materials and is neutral. Brown takes more attention so it is mostly used in landmarks and public spaces.
One of the most representative colors in the customs of Spaniards is the red. Some say that it is worn in order to honor a saint. Some customs such as Fiestas de San Fermin are represented with white clothes and a red handkerchief in honor of San Fermin. Others say that the red is used to call the attention of the bulls in different activities. Also, half of the flag has red in it, therefore, it gains more significance in different cultural events. When looking at the architecture, it consists of more opaque colors and the colors of nature. It is more natural and it maintains the original properties of the materials.
