IKEA collaborates with Sarah Richardson to launch a Canadian furniture line
CANADA- IKEA is launching it’s very first collection in collaboration with Sarah Richardson, a Canadian designer. This collaboration will be the first of its kind for IKEA Canada where all materials, designs, and manufacturing is made in Canada by a Canadian designer. The launch kicks off at the Toronto Interior Design Show on November 27, 2019. The Sarah Richardson x IKEA collection will feature 10 pieces ranging from $10-$600.
IKEA Canada set out to conceptualize this furniture collaboration in order to attract more Canadian consumers by bringing more traffic into stores and online. The center of attention for this collaboration is that it is 100 per cent Canadian made. Everything from the chief designer- Sarah Richardson, to all the materials sourced for the products in the line will be authentically Canadian. “Sarah’s simple designs and Canadian roots made her an easy choice for IKEA canada to collaborate with,” said Micheal Ward president of IKEA Canada. Richardson brings the essence of Canadian spirit and landscapes into her designs. “This IKEA collection is inspired by what it means to be a Canadian. I wanted to show off Canada’s diverse cultures and landscapes to create a collection that represents the warmth of this country,” said Sarah Richardson. IKEA was established in 1943 in Sweden and opened stores in Canada in 1976. IKEA is one of the world’s most- known furnishing brands. IKEA owns 276 stores in 25 countries around the world.
