Greetings to all our readers. We are already in December! Last month of the year! One year that has been loaded super as for the scene of the rock it is, so much inside our country as outside: new productions, new groups that arise, others that put an end to their career, etc. But without place to doubts had been super one year special for the lovers of the rock in vat. We had the company of two super rock bands, The Dead Daisies and CJ Ramone. Without doubts two unforgettable experiences! And we even have reason why to take place, because at the end of this month it arrives to our country another legendary rock band, it is in this case of ZZ TOP, a band that possesses a nonpareil energy. This time I have decided to make a special edition of year end, I have included a report on the Festival Big Homeland that already goes for their second edition and on the Festival City Metal. This and many other surprises will find in this number! I hope they enjoy it and we see each other in January! Gratefulness and Greetings: To Omar Vega Riaño (SubtleDeath), Yusniel Valdés Puig (Jesus is my Rock), David Zaldívar, the Nico (Medieval Warlock) who served me of inspiration to carry out this magazine; to PMU, to Tiago (Stoner), to Kiko (Tendency), to Miriela, to Eric (Blinder), to Ivo (Bad News) to Edu (Duke Productions), to Joel Morales (American Line Prods), to Gothic Rec Productions, and to the bands Spit on Your Grave and Muert. A very special gratefulness to Arch Enemy for dedicated us our time to answer this interview.

Toward time that I wanted to interview to this powerfulband of death metal and thanks to the unconditional help of Alejandro De La Cuesta, finally I could interview Arch Enemy. Michael Amott (guitarist and director of the band) answer me. By: Alejandro Pérez.

First off, greetings and be welcome to this rock magazine. First question, when and where Arch Enemy arises? Michael Amott - I formed the group in 1995 and we released our debut album "Black Earth" the following year Who are the actual members? Currently the lineup looks like this: Michael Amott – Guitar Alissa White-Gluz – Vocals Daniel Erlandsson – Drums Jeff Loomis – Guitar Sharlee D'Angelo - Bass As we know the band was formed in 1995. From this year to the present many members has left the band and others entered. Why? Michael Amott - That's true, but the musical core of the band with me and drummer Daniel Erlandsson

and bassist Sharlee D'Angelo has been intact since the early days though. The reason why band members have left or been let go vary from person to person... It's not easy to share a vision and have the passion for this crazy life style year after year; I understand that it's not for everyone. With members coming and going it has been challenging sometimes of course, but I also feel that the band is energized by the new members. In a way I can say that we have new blood in the band, but the heart and soul is the same as ever before. How many CD´s Arch Enemy has made until now? And videos? Michael Amott - We have so far made 9 studio album and 2 concert DVDs. We have quite a few promotional videos on YouTube etc as well, not sure how many... How do you define your music? Michael Amott - In two words, extreme and melodic! As songwriters it crucial to us that we keep progressing and trying new things. Our most recent effort, "War Eternal", was our 9th studio album with original compositions and to my ears I can still hear the trademark sounds and roots of the band in the album. When I initially started the band the ambition was to create a band that blended my love for emotional melodies with the heaviness and speed of Death Metal and that is still the goal, I feel we've just refined our technique and become better performers and composers over the years. As we know, Angela Gossow left the band in 2014 and on his place entered Alissa White Gluz. With Alissa White Gluz you had made your last CD until now, named “War Eternal”. Do you tell us how the process of recording and edition to the same was? Michael Amott - The process of writing and recording the "War Eternal" album was not that much different to our previous efforts, even though we of course had a new singer contributing her ideas. We recorded and mixed the album in Sweden, our home base. Our country was visited by many rock bands. In 2005 came Audioslave, in 2008 came Sepultura. This year came The Dead Daisies in February and CJ Ramone in august. The next year came The Rolling Stones. Have think Arch Enemy in come to Cuba sometime?

Michael Amott - Yes, absolutely... That is something we are very much hoping to do one day. Arch Enemy playing live in Cuba would be a dream come true for us. Two last questions. How Arch Enemy see the future of the band? What does Arch Enemy think about the future of the rock music in general? Michael Amott - We plan one to two years ahead and work our way forward that way. I'm pretty sure that we start working on a follow up to "War Eternal" at some point next year. At the moment we are still very busy performing around the world on our current world tour which started on May 23 2014. As for the the future of rock music I believe that there will always be rock and rock fans - there is no other music genre that communicates and connects with the emotions you can find in loud and heavy music. Well, Arch Enemy thanks for your time and for answer this questions. Any words that Arch Enemy want to say to the Cuban people that love the rock. Michael Amott - I would like thank you very much for the interview, my first interview ever with a Cuban publication! We very much hope that we can come and play with Arch Enemy in Cuba someday soon!

BIG HOMELAND Festival Last month of November was carried out, to 12th until 18th, the second edition of the Festival Big Homeland. Let us remember that this festival had its first edition in November of last year. This festival, according to its organizers, the Ministry of Culture and the Cuban Agency of Rock, is believed to give to know the best in the rock in Latin America. Idea that I believe that it is wonderful, because little or anything is known of the rock that is made in our region. In the last edition the poster included the bands: No Te Va Gustar (Uruguay), The Milixia (Costa Rica), Curva Sur (Venezuela), Ra The Snake (Colombia) and to the head Puya (Puerto Rico). Tendency was for the Cuban (Pinar del Rio), Thesis of Mint (Havana) and as invited Dionisio, vowel of the powerful band Zeus (also of Havana). This year for the Cuban part repeats Tendencia again (Pinar del Rio)) next to another of our bands, Stoner (Havana). The strange bands were conformed for: Paquidermia (Mexico), Don Word (Colombia), Synergy (Chile) and to the head the band Carajo (Argentina). Remember that this last band was 9 years ago in our country, where they offered a concert in The Tropical before more than 1500 spectators. The Festival has a previous concert on Thursday 12 in the Maxim Rock, with Carajo and Zeus like hosts. A concert that was loaded with a lot of energy, although it was marked by the little attendance of people. The inauguration concert took place on Friday 13, a big day! in The Antiimperialist Tribune of Havana. At 8:30 in the night the first opening chords were heard with the band Stoner; a young band defenders of the heavy metal. Without place to doubts, a great performance that demonstrated that this young band has power to play in any place. After Stoner, played him the shift to Paquidermia who gave the best thing with their sound and characteristic dance of them in the scenario, to give him pass to Don Word, a band that put to dance and to jump without doubts to more than a person. When the spirits were even latent arrive Tendencia who with their peculiar rhythm of making music rock, with drums and everything, they put to jump to all the people that there were present. After so much adrenaline, it ascended to the scenario Synergy who with their characteristic form of making rock, they also put to enjoy to those there present. Already spent the midnight, the shift of Carajo, the most prospective band, arrived because it was the head of the poster who like 9 years ago behind, they knew how to give the best thing of if and with its potent music and energy they put an end to such a prospective night of pure adrenaline for all the addicts to the rock.

With this concert the second edition of the Festival Big Homeland was inaugurated, without doubts an event that demonstrated that in our region if one makes rock of the good one and that it is worthwhile to be diffused. Let us wait then that next year, the third edition of this festival overcomes the expectations and we can enjoy a little more than the good Latin American rock. Another presentations Thusday 12th in Maxim Rock (La Habana), concert previous to the inauguration with the bands Carajo and Zeus. Saturday 14th in Maxim Rock (La Habana), presentation of the bands Dead Point and Tendencia together Synergy. Tuesday 17th in the backyard of the coffee The Piscuala (Pinar del Rio), presentation of Tendencia next to Don Word and Paquidermia. Wednesday 17th in Maxim Rock (La Habana), close of the event with the bands Synergy and Paquidermia together the local Stoner.

Metal city city Festival 2015 Last month of November was carried out from the 24 to the 28, the 18ª edition of the Festival City Metal, organized by the Association Brothers Saiz in Villa Clara. The event began with an opening concert in the cultural center The Mixture, in charge of the bands Taxa and Recovery of Canada, invited by the project Solidary Rock, together the local Adictox. In this edition of the festival, to take part more than 20 groupings of Havana, Matanzas, Villa Clara, Sancti Spiritus and Camaguey. This festival from its beginnings has contributed to channel the movement of our rock and to legitimate it as cultural expression. Diverse activities took place during the whole week. One of them the liked convention of tattoos that was carried out in this occasion the days 26 and 27 in the cultural center The Mixture was. Also the day 25 the exhibition was inaugurated it photographs History of City Metal", of Raúl Ernesto Gutierrez “Yuka ", in the gallery Piazza. As central colophon of the festival, they were the programmed concerts that extended the whole week, in the external areas of the Stadium Sandino, in charge of the Cuban bands Zeus, Aventis, Congregation, Trendkill, Limalla, Blinder and Resistenzia, among others.

Cuba: New scenario for the Latin rock? By: Michel HernĂĄndez

In Cuba have been carried out several intents to organize a festival of international rock that deserves that name, but, for organization lack, of administration or of interest, the idea has not ended up crystallizing. Last year was armed Big Homeland that comes to be the first event of this type designed to bring to the country strange alignments, for the first time in this case of the scene of the Latin rock. The festival whose second edition has just concluded, it could locate at Cuba in the map of the international circuit and to give the shot of grace to a time in the one that events like this they shone for its absence in the local scenarios. Big homeland is guided to give half a decade to the Latin bands and until the moment, it is necessary to say it, it has fulfilled this purpose outstanding note. In the first edition it programmed on the back to bands with an impressive history, as the Puerto Rican Puya who were compared with the Brazilian Sepultura in their moment (and you know what that means); and you won't like it, it indexes unquestionable of the Uruguayan rock, also allowed to fall for the island in that opportunity, where although it congregated several Cubans next to a strong swollen Uruguayan, didn't enjoy the same convocation that in other countries of the continent. The poster of the second edition gathered to a handful of bands in those that stood out for a lot the Argentineans of Carajo, a power trio that with songs in those that crowds together the anger, the rage and the blood and that it recovers the primary energy of the metal to play with a crudeness and energy of high metals The band made his with a lot of dignity, that is to say they gave a music very well crazy, with letters that speak of the punished realities that wrap the human beings.

We won't compare them with the irreverent and wretched Mojinos Escozios (a Spanish band that you should have if you want to die from the laugh with a self-confidence of guitars like background), but Synergy also plays as if he had the mother of the seated irony on the legs. Apart from the humorous tug and mordant of their topics, the chileans showed other victory letters. Their musicians hit in the head with a repertoire assembled with accuracy and quality. It is not one of those bands that plays in plan beast, but their members offered a very convincing show in those that didn't lose power and they taught enough resources defending songs that combine the mordacity perspicaciously with the social accusation. Zeus, Tendencia, Stoner, the local formations that shared the banquet of the metal with the strange alignments was and as always they rushed on the Cuban rockers with their classic topics, especially Zeus that continues making pieces the presage and staying with an excellent vitality and the same desires initials of eating up the world, to digest them and to throw it later has more than enough their followers, more loyal, wrapped in an energetic broadside of the metal. An initial presage of this event is to promote among the Cubans the Latin rock. The intention is very praiseworthy, but for should face it with a very wide ignorance toward this scene, because the Cuban public generally (eliminating of the list, of course, to the most demanding melomaniacs) doesn't pay too much attention to what happens in the Latin musical environment. With the result that it is very probable that to many, mainly to the youngest,

the names to Los Fabulosos, Cadillacs, Aterciopelados, La Renga o Todos Tus Muertos, don't sound to anything, with the whole status of icons that show these bands among an extensive number of Latin Americans. We could mention other alignments that, be maybe inserted in the future to the poster of the Festival, but so that everything works, already keeping in mind the characteristics mentioned of the Cuban public, it is necessary to create appropriate promotion strategies that respond to the dynamics of a rock festival, because, like it has been demonstrated in other mega festivals like Rock to the park in Colombia, or CosquĂn Rock in Argentina, these events require of an own, coherent and very well thought platform that contains the codes characteristic of the publish rocker. On the other hand the music of the bands should be inserted that participate in the means, to offer them the possibility to sell its materials, as much disks as tshirts, and to use the digital technologies to disclose its presentations by means of more attractive promotion concepts. Cuba, as we knows, it is occupying the world attention and they are not few the bands of resonance that have declared aloud (something that didn't happen before) their desire to be presented in the Island, without mentioning that next year they possibly landed in Havana some heavy pesos of the rock and other slopes from the music to international level. With the result that the local institutions, without discarding the evident possibility that other events of this type arise, they should look for the form of expanding with coherence the festival Big Homeland, so that the country is located once and for all in the strange circuit and the Latin American bands find in the scenarios a national suggestive exchange platform and of international promotion.

Spit on Your Grave is one of the few bands that know that it is integrated in its majority by women. It is for that reason that I decided to interview them and they consented to the moment. Cecilia (guitarist and director) answer the questions. By: Alejandro PĂŠrez

First that all, Greetings and be welcome to this pages of Metal for your Veins. For me is a big pleasure can do it this interview. To start. Why the name of Spit on Your Grave? Any special meanings? Before anything else thank you for the opportunity. We choose this name for our fanaticism to the classic horror and coming from the movie of the same name of 1978. When and where raise the band? How are their actually members? It began in the 2012 in the city of New LeĂłn, Mexico, like a grind band we were in majority conformed by integral men. Today we are conformed by Zitlalic, vocalist, Elizabeth, bass, Cecilia, guitar and Johnattan, battery. They are few the rock groupings that are guided by women. Why did decide this formation? Could you tell us which the musical influences of the group have been? For near 6 years we know each other and from then on we wanted to have a band with pure women it is not until 3 years we have found Eliza (bass) and good the battery is man but thanks to him this band improved our sound a lot so like we are it is perfect. Our influences come from the Death metal the 80s as it is it Entombed, Dismember, Nihilist, Carnage, and Edge Of Saninty among others. How define the music of Spit on Your Grave? As a death metal with tints Old school but modern we make some riffs mixture in our new EP from the grind until black touches but without leaving the Death.

Until now you have made your album “Existential Murderer”. How the process of recording and edition was? Have think publish another CD later? We are already working with the second album that takes for name “Unblessed " it is here where we take out a little but of our personal likes and gives as a result something different from what is listened in Existential Murderer". We are also part from the CD tribute to Witchcraft. Do you have the opportunity to participate at some time in some rock festival in their country or outside of this? Have shared the stage at some time with some international band? Last year we were present in the Festival Hell and Heaven in the Federal District, where there was but of 50 thousand people it was a very pleasant experience. We have opened the concerts of Witchcraft, Dark Tranquillity, Kataklysm, Origin, Unleashed The Archers and Your Chance To Die. ¿Future plans? The main thing is that it leaves soon the more ones our next material which we have worked very hard waiting that it is of the pleasure of all. If you have the opportunity to come to Cuba you will do it? Undoubtedly if, it would be a very pleasant experience for us, we wait it is soon when we are of visit with you. Well, before to finish, something that will to say to all followers of this magazine. Thanks for red a little about us, we hope that can visit our page and listen little about us. Thanks so much for the opportunity and we hope see you soon in Cuba. Gracias

For the Cuban press. Those that we dream for the ear Culture Thursday 8th 2015 Juventud Rebelde newspaper Black Sabbath

ÂĄ So classic and old! By: JoaquĂn Borges-Triana

IT seems that it was yesterday and, however, they have lapsed a heap of years since Black Sabbath flew my head with a sound and scenic projection that have been relating for the whole production of the later metal. If among the current readers of this column miraculously is some that has already followed it from the distant 1988, moment in that I began to write it, knows that in different occasions I have referred here to different phonographic works of the picket coming from Birmingham or those billed in solitary by my adored Ozzy Osbourne, above the foolishness that usually makes when in excess appropriates of him jester's spirit. And how that no CD is old to be commented if the same has resisted the test of the time, today I dedicate space to an album of Black Sabbath published in 2013 first floor the title of 13, and that it stops my pleasure it is an authentic marvel inside the codes of the hard rock. This is the first CD of the band with the vocalist Ozzy Osbourne in 35 years and it has been one of the phonographic materials of the world of the rock and of the metal that more there is since to speak in the last times. They meet here; next to the already mentioned Ozzy Osbourne and that it is the one in charge of putting voice and harmonica in the recording, the guitarist Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler in the bass. In the battery, the place that Bill always occupied Ward, the other of the four founders of the project, now passed at the hands of Brad Wilk, member of Rage Against the Machine and who acts in Havana in the memorable concert of Audioslave. As album, in my opinion, 13 surprise for fresh. It is it in great measure thanks to that made by the producing Rick Rubin,

somebody that is something like that as a specialist in the plastic surgery of rocker dinosaurs He becomes author that in the CD we listen many blinks to the classics 70 of Sabbath, without falling in the self-sufficiency, an achievement that I find worthy to stand out. From the first court of the disk, the titled End of the Beginning, the lover of the original proposal of Black Sabbath is identified with that sonority in which we find the prevalence of long, slow and lethargic topics. With the result that it can make sure that a style as the doom a lot should to the troop that Iommi and Osbourne were founded. On the other hand, God is Dead classified it like one of the best pieces in the recording; mainly for Tony Iommi in the guitar and that it continues being a teacher when designing overwhelming and heavy riffs, in the line of the tradition. The final section of the cut is something that doesn't have waste. In the case of Loner, reminds me a lot an old piece of the first times of the quartet of Birmingham, that is to say, N.I.B. Another of the topics that I put in my list of favorite among those registered in 13 is Zeitgeist, of encouragement very special and that it overcomes me to my years of adolescent fascinated before the repertoire of those that are the parents of the metal like gender without the smallest discussion. Something for the style happens me to Age of Reason, where again Iommi takes out the hands in a good one alone guitar and we also appreciate one that another reminiscence of progressive airs.

I cannot stop to recommend that special attention is lent Dear Father, melancholic and sad piece, in the rope of the Vol. 4 of the grouping. And it is that in my case, to have me servant with that dense, dark and deep sound of the members of Sabbath, when several decades of my initial enchantment have already passed before the band, continue grasped to that that at the present time these musicians continue making in the fundamental thing for love, because they are no longer those without anybody that there for the 70 they rushed to the highway to eat up the world, but they have become some multimillionaire gentlemen. A general balance of 13 like disk allows to assure that in the same one the brilliant idea and creativity of Iommi is unquestionable and inexhaustible (on him he always fallen the sound weight of the band and it tolerates it without problem). on the other hand, we are an Ozzy in good form and very creative in the melodies; meanwhile, the contribution of Butler in the bass is not as notorious as in the first stage, but its letters are excellent, in style Sabbath, trying with simplicity philosophical matters. Lastly, Brad Wilk accompanies well to the group, closing a round sound of solid compositions and that they make of this album a more than worthy own homage to one of the capital groupings in the history of the rock.

There is a wider division in the composition of the topics in comparison with their previous works, this way; Steve Harris contributes in seven topics, six of them with the guitarists of the band and another in solitary. Also, it is also the first time from the album ' Powerslave' (1984) that Bruce Dickinson composes two topics in solitary, belonging one to them (Empire of the Clouds) the longest topic in the career of Iron Maiden with a duration that overcomes the 18 minutes. Other two of the topics of the album (Speed of Light and Death or Glory) they have been composed jointly by Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith. Steve Harris commented: "We made this album in a way different to as we had always made it. Several of the songs we write them while we were in the study, we rehearsed them there and we recorded them later, maintaining this way their freshness. That speed is reflected in the songs. I am very proud of ' The Book of Souls', all he is, and we cannot wait to that the fans can listen to it, and especially to play it in direct next year."

"We are really delighted with this disk, we pass it in big making it. We begin at the end of summer of 2014 in the studies Guillame Tell of Paris, same place where we made New Brave World in 2000, so we had a heap of good memories. We loved to see that the magic continues alive and that we continue stepping strong! We feel like at home and the ideas simply flowed. When we end up we realized that each song was an essential part in the disk and for that reason he/she needed to be a double album"!, Bruce Dickinson said. The image of the cover was created by Mark Wilkinson who already carried out the covers of the disks of the group ' Live at Donington' (1993) and ' Best of The B-Sides ' (2002). New ålbum of Bullet for My Valentine Venom is the fifth album of study of Bullet for My Valentine. Produced by Carl Bown and Colin Richardson (Slipknot, Machine Head, and Trivium) in the Metropolises Studio of London. It is announced this way: "Their album heavier so far nails its teeth in the listeners with a ponderous interpretation of the vocal and guitarist MattTuck, the guitarist's ferocious riffs ' Padge' Paget and the rhythm quick courtesy of the battery Michael ' Moose' Thomas. The trio maintains in Venom its characteristic heavy balance, together to the emergent melody, going into in the following level" "It is very difficult to try to summarize a whole CD after so much time to pass writing it and recording it, with the whole blood, perspiration and tears that it has cost us especially this album", the leader of the band, Matt Tuck says. Doesn´t go easy visit some dark places in those again that to be inspired to write the letters, but once I knew toward where went the CD I felt to pleasure and I could leave certain things outside. It is without a doubt the most aggressive disk that we have made up to now and as for the letters, I am sure they will surprise to all those that listen the album.

I cannot express with words the proud thing that I am of this CD, and I want that everybody can listen to it. We have reinvented who we are and we are prepared to take the world again for assault." The Rock’s CD most waiting in this 2015 When little lack so that it concludes this 2015 many we wonder like it was the musical production in general sense. This year they were many the CD that came out to the market and the rock could not be the exception. Many artists and groupings of the most successful and well-known of all the times in the gender announced that later or early their productions would arrive in this year that newly concludes. And it is that I am of those that died for a new album of certain bands that have us abandoned for a long time.

For that reason I decided to make this summary with the rock disks that were the most prospective this year. Some already came out to the market and other they will make it in 2016.

Scorpions - "Return to Forever"

This year was very special for the mythical band of Hard Rock. The reason? Simple, Scorpions turned 50 years making music, and to celebrate it its album it left to the light “Return to Forever", last February. Their CD of study number 19.

Black Sabbath

After having announced this year their decision of saying good-bye forever, Ozzy said: we are not sure that it will leave to the market this same year". But as he same said: "in 2015 we will record new album", and not alone that, this disk, their number 18 of study, it will be the last of the mythical band of Ozzy, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler (although we miss the great Bill Ward in the battery). These old ones continue making such a good rock as they have made it for almost 50 years. It will be necessary to wait at the 2016 to see if they complete their promise and they take out their last disk before saying good-bye.

Nightwish

After 4 years from “Imaginaerum ", finally it arrived in March of this year the new production of Finnish “Endless Forms Most Beautiful". A CD in which we see their new vocalist's premieres Floor Jansen.

Led Zeppelin - "Physical Graffiti"

For surprises of many, in February of this year Led Zeppelin rushed again, this time premastered one of its more successful and more well-known CD, “Physical Graffiti”, Robert Plant , Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham continues more alive than never, and its style has marked generations. I believe that it was hour of a launching of this band that he/she came to educate hearings of this generation that listens so many things that today in day they call music, if they allow me the comment.

Santana - "IV"

The great Carlos Santana, one of the best guitarists in the world, returns with a new disk in which gathers some of the members of their acclaimed album “Santana III", including Gregg Rolie, one of the members of Journey. Without a doubt if you are lover of the guitar, this was one of the best albums that could listen this year.

Guns 'N Roses

The same Axl Rose and other members of the band have assured in different occasions that the new disk of the mythical band is already more than I list. It will be the CD that continues “Chinese Democracy” and the vocalist's lamentable voices that we wait this time it grants us a quality of superior music, as those old times that points remember with nostalgia. Let us wait that next year the disk comes out. A CD that will be expected super, because we take 8 years without listening Guns ' N Roses.

Metallica Iron Maiden – Book of Souls

They already go seven years from the last work of Metallica, and after a tour that seemed endless, concluding there were many indications that its new production would come out this same year, even the bass Robert Trujillo, old bass of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Label Society, it has assured that yes that this same year there will be more Metallica for our hearings, and we cannot wait, mainly after that air " retro " of Death Magnetic that left us a flavor in the mouth very to the era previous to the black album", for many (including me), the best era in Metallica.

After 4 years of their last launching “Final The Frontier", the band of Bruce Dickinson and Eddie finally completed their promise and the very prospective “Book of Souls” took out and exactly in this month of December, month in that the band turned 40 years making music.

Reviews Reviews Reviews Reviews Reviews Iron Maiden The Book of Souls (From the web site metaltotal.com) All type of rumors surrounded during the last months to the biggest band in the Heavy Metal that speculated with which we would not see a new disk of study of IRON MAIDEN. Five years have passed from The Final Frontier and the rumors increased after the news of the battle against the cancer of Bruce Dickinson. Because well, all this has been behind. We have before “The Book of Souls", a great CD, and above, double. And two answers possible to the question of and why does it bend"?: on one hand, do we already know the type of lyrics that in the last CD IRON MAIDEN has composed , generally long topics, less direct of those of in the past but with more thought and leisurely compositions. There are a lot of people to which they don't like these topics (and for ende, the last CD), but the group has matured toward this type of interpretations and we are from congratulation to those that if we like. On the other hand, each one of The Maiden's six members has wanted to contribute their magic grain of sand, with quite material per cápita and that when joining has given a work as a result of more than ninety minutes that it doesn't fit in a single CD. Result? One of the most complete albums in IRON MAIDEN (and don't I know as making that this statement doesn't sound to topic, because it is real). This mark a similar landmark to what New Brave World (2000), was and in many aspects does remember to that CD. I am of the fans that I think that it “Dances of Death" (2003), “A Matter of Life and Death" (2006) and “The Final Frontier" (2010) they were big CD, but they lacked something of spark and seen now in perspective, it distanced the opinions of the fans. "The Book of Souls is easy that receives an universal praise on the part of all the fans. As in all the CD of IRON MAIDEN, the first thing that illuminates us when having it in the hands is the art of the cover. In this case Eddie occupies in a simple way the total protagonist of the same one, colored as the Mayan and with the letters of The Book of Souls in style hieroglyphic. "The Book of the Souls is a quite reminiscent name of the life after the death, as the own Mayan they believed in that the souls continued living after the death. The austere black bottom already advances us a music based on these premises. Let us see. The opening of If Eternity Should Fall is an amalgam of synthesizer sounds with a lot of tribal air and that it wraps up us while Bruce Dickinson offers its voice like guide through this new world. Soon we will be taken to The Maiden's classic sound, with something more than sobriety and crudeness in the production that personally thank. Nicko McBrain will hit us with its classic rhythm that alone a couple of times will be cut to pull up some detail of almost tribal court. Cruzes of guitars with alone and riffs toward the end, fair before the topic rests with voice of ultra tomb to give us a warning of where we are entering. It is not the best topic in IRON MAIDEN, but it completes their function: it introduces us in the CD and leaves us with desires of more. Changed registration totally with “Speed of Light", the first sail of the CD and that doesn’t have anything to do with the previous topic: it is rockero, looking for the simplicity and to arrive soon. Steve's first floor Harris rides perfectly to loins of the rhythms of Nicko and the guitars become more years 80", with Adrian Smith, Dave Murray and Janick Gers making those games and crossings of rhythms, riffs and

alone that alone them three together get. The spirit has gone up us with this topic that is made totally to please the fans and being chanted in the concerts. We continue with one of the topics marathon of the CD, with more than thirteen minutes of duration of “The Ret and the Black", where the half would have had more than enough to make a good topic that finishes making monotonous at the end. The acoustic first floor introduces us to some good guitar riffs that it has more than enough the general structure of the song remember enough to “A Matter of Life and Death". Bruce ascends and it lowers with its voice as if doesn't cost, and the Ohhohhhh... they will transfer us for moments to the IRON MAIDEN the ninety. “When the River Runs Deep” goes up the rhythm full with tricks and changes everywhere. Ascents and slopes in a topic that leaves the means behind constant times of the last disks and it is shown fresh in all the aspects. It has muscle and the originality that it characterized the IRON MAIDEN of final of the eighty. We close the first disk with the topic that gives name to the disk. "The Book of Souls” starts up with an acoustic guitar by way of intro to end in one of the most epic riffs in the whole disk. It remembers to the sound of “Powerslave ", it is something ethnic, it is epic and atemporal, with the voice of Bruce ascending and lowering smoothly from some tones tremendous means, controlled as the teacher that is. Enormous harmonies that give a total personality to this topic, without a doubt of the best in the CD. Here they gave everything at all the levels. Toward the half the topic accelerates suddenly, and it passes to sound very “Piece of Mind". I don't know, it is not the most overwhelming topic, it is not the softest, it is not the most epic, it is not the most technical... but you take it on the whole and it is super a song. Ten and a half minutes that are made until short, and that is a lot to say. We rest some seconds to take out the disk of the reproducer and to put the second, while we allow ourselves to seduce for the look of Eddie in that mysterious way that the art of the cover gets again, and we continue with “Death or Glory". Nicko prints an almost warlike sound to the battery in a fresh and direct topic, where Steve's first floor melts with the palm-mute of the guitars in a song that changes the rhythm of the CD again. We can no longer complain that we receive means times after means times and that there is not variety. This is a track IRON MAIDEN atemporal, maybe not the best in the CD, but of those that you will listen in twenty years and they will continue fresh. "Shadows of the Valley” returns to the tribal sound, or as much as less near to the folk. Simple and functional intro, melodic verses that grow in intensity in the arabesque refrain on rhythms like of horses. Is this IRON MAIDEN, how more we want? It won't be a song that falls in love everybody, but it works, and it will work in direct, again with the Ohhhhohhhh... ends registered mark of The Maiden". it is without a doubt another of the topics that more they remind the “New Brave World”.

We arrive to one of the most special points in the CD. "Tears of a Clown” is dedicated the wasted Robin Williams. Moving expression of the band that gets a human topic in the musical thing, halfway between the epic thing and the sentimental full with details. Their force doesn't come from the speed or the forcefulness, but of just the opposite: he/she is a retailer, moving and melodic. Although enters to the first one, it is necessary to listen to it a couple of times to take out him all the juice. "The Man of Sorrows” is the best bullet in Bruce Dickinson. It is their topic, with the guitars giving the introduction to the most beautiful track in the CD, where he loosens and where we can listen Nicko making things to which didn't have us accustomed. Rhythm changes and of intonation that works simply, growing with every minute, grandiloquent and taking us to a more direct refrains. Epic, pompous and care fears that, being the less direct of the disk, soon we learn how to recognize. Special mention the final part, with symphonic sounds and some guitars that remind a lot to Pink Floyd. And we arrive this way to the heavy weight of the disk. To those more than 18 minutes of “Empire of the Clouds". The longest topic never composed by IRON MAIDEN and with many details to keep in mind. To begin, the beginning pianos (if, pianos, and interpreted by the own Bruce Dickinson) followed by violins and soft guitars trying to imitate them. Perfect mattress for the entrance of the soft voice that goes growing in force with the step of the minutes, the same as the guitars. It is a beautiful, moving and intimate track that goes changing and charging force with the step of the minutes, but that it contains several repetitions that seem simply of filler. For moments it is brilliant and for moments freckle of repetitive. Nevertheless we cannot leave it fifty-fifty, because we would get lost the most symphonic moment in the CD in their last minutes, with melodies of progressive rock that demonstrate that they have tossed the rest in this topic. It is a good topic, but maybe the expectation that has caused has killed a little. And once listened the CD... conclusion? Because that it is an authentic work of art. At all the levels. It is of the best thing that IRON MAIDEN has recorded in the last 20 years, a CD full with work and of good ideas, without to repeat or to make comfortable (they have never made it) and that, removing their first three classic disks, it has the best in all the other ones, along their career. It has moments of force and of claw, like in the ninety, and it has the characteristic means melodic times of the one it “Dances of Death” or “New Brave World", together with touches of “A Matter of Life and Death” and “Final The Frontier”. It is the most prospective evolution of everything it, and the result is excellent, a CD that any fan of IRON MAIDEN will know how to value. To enjoy it! Iron Maiden: - Steve Harris: Bass - Bruce Dickinson: Vocal - Dave Murray: Guitar - Adrian Smith: Guitar - Janick Gers: Guitar - Nicko McBrain: Baterry
