User Centered Design Part III
Trekking Poles Joan Alejo Group B1
New Proposal The main idea of face to face this project was to enhance the multifunctionality of this product. Transformation from a product with a single utility, to have more than one and thus achieving a target to reach the broader market and give users another useful product. To meet this objective we have set into objects already in the market and have adapted to the trekking pole in order to make life easier for users while practicing the sport.
We are inspired by different objects:
Parts Of Trekking Pole
Handle
Description
In the new design of the trekking pole is the key handle, due to its size allows us to meet the target we set, in order to give multifunctionality. The handle has an inner diameter of 4cm, allowing us to have some elements to improve and satisfy the user. We are inspired by a razor swiss and created an object, which allows many more functions.

Materials & Life cycle of materials Aluminium alloy 7025: This alloy was chosen because it is lightweight aluminum and zinc has therefore are more resistant to corrosion. Aluminium recycling is the process by which scrap aluminium can be reused in products after its initial production. The process involves simply re-melting the metal, which is far less expensive and energy intensive than creating new aluminium through the electrolysis of aluminium oxide (Al2O3), which must first be mined from bauxite ore and then refined using the Bayer process. Recycling scrap aluminium requires only 5% of the energy used to make new aluminium.
Steel: Ferrous metals are able to be recycled with steel being one of the most recycled materials in the world. Ferrous metals contain an appreciable percentage of iron and the addition of carbon and other substances creates steel.
High Impact Polystyrene: The high impact polystyrene has very good properties for the use you want to give. And as for the recliclabilidad is infinitely better than the ABS, so we opted to replace the ABS by the high impact polystyrene molecules. Cork : The cork is produced through a sustainable, non-polluting. This is a natural, ecological, recyclable and sustainable also acts as an insulator because of its molecular composition
Magnesium Rod A magnesium bar is basically the modern version of the tinder and flint. Often one of the first choices when preparing a survival kit or make a long-term output: Have at least half to make a fire, (it is recommended to have at least two), is fundamental: If you get pulled or check you up at night, you can light a small fire to warm, mark your position, scare animals or cooking. Everything is of course, take the necessary precautions to prevent the fire from spreading: Better if the fire is in a hole, and indispensable to have a firewall around so it can not grow without deliberation. And it must be sheltered from the wind all we can, even better if you can avoid. One of these lighters usually costs between 3 and 6 euros normally. It consists of a gray bar of magnesium, a highly flammable material but slow combustion (such as diesel and unlike eg gasoline). Magnesium would become the tinder. At one end carries a ferro rod, which produces sparks when scratched. Material is often used to light the burners and is the equivalent of flint. Alternatively the lighter magnesium, another lighter is only based on ferro-bar, and it is known colloquially as Firesteel (for a brand that is manufactured). In this case, we of procuring us the tinder. The procedure involves scraping with a knife magnesium turnings about where we want to fire. It may be accompanied mg of natural tinder such as cotton or dry wood chips to

How It Works ? Pedometer A pedometer is a device used to measure the number of steps, which can be used to indirectly measure distance, speed and cadence of a person walking. operation It has an internal sensor that can detect the swing produced by each stride and recorded. By customizing the average distance of roughly follows the stride distance, speed, cadence and calories used when walking. The measurement accuracy depends largely on the ability to maintain a steady stride and determine their average length.
Digital Compass In our design we have implemented the operation of a digital compass. For this we used the Xilinx fpga SPARTAN2E and a digital compass designed by Devantech CMPS03 able to measure its position in degrees from the Earth's magnetic north. Uses two sensors KMZ51 PHILIPS, mounted at right angles to each other on the printed board and its output is used to calculate the direction in which they are located. Specs The sensor is supplied with a single 3V DC voltage and provides two separate outputs indicating its position at every moment. On the one hand has a PWM output, and secondly, an I2C interface for data communication with a microcontroller. Operation and Management After loading the program on-board device to be calibrated. To do this we place the plate pointing north (see figure above), where viewers can see a C-for the calibration mode, and an N (lowercase) to know that is north, and press the calibration button. Then you will see a C and E, we must direct the device to the east and we must press the calibration button. In the same way as we do with the South and West. After this process, the compass will be able to tell our position, so we must press the Start button to start the measurement. In the viewers will see the current position: N (north), NE (northeast), E (east), SE (southeast), S (south), SW (southwest), O (W), NO (northwest).
