The daily time-schedule, in our society, can vary very much from person to person. With all the new technology - related jobs, and international business, it is often possible to find people who live more during the night than during the day. For these people though, it is really hard to find public services that can work well with their schedule, therefore we wanted to provide a 24/7 space that could offer them different activities and services. This building, which consists in a spatial truss, present services and activities which are in continuity with the ones offered in the buildings at the lower levels, becoming an attractor and a building of public interest for the whole neighbourhood.

Plan
Residence & «bottega» plan
The design principle of this housing was based on an idea of flexibility. People, who rent these apartments, can choose the quantity of floors and rooms that they need, as the walls are movable. On the ground floor, the residents can run their own business, this is why it was called “bottega”, while the upper levels have living functions.
MANTOVA REFURBISHMENT The project “Mantova Refurbishment” deals with a plot in a residential zone, in 10 minutes from the Central station. In its surroundings can be found historic abandoned buildings, straight access to the embankment and a church with a square arranged for a parking lot.The area is very peaceful, however, it gives an impression of labyrinth, as it is full of walls and narrow streets. Our strategy was to create a green corridor, that would connect the embankment, church’s square and historic center. We analyzed the life of residents ( a big part were students, a there is a campus of Politecnico) and according to the interview information our group designed a social center and a botanical garden. We brought a public life in this district, gave priority to pedestrians and made landscape design with green corners.

URBAN TURBINE “Urban Turbine” is a town panning project dealing with the transformation and reuse of “Caserma Montello”, a former army barracks territory. The project aims to create a heritage center as a local focal point, that draws its power from urban “Engine Points” and has a positive affect on the surrounding neighborhood. The heritage center will contain an artisan incubator for traditional and modern crafts as well as a museum for the surrounding historical architecture and urban fabric. In this way, it will both provide quality services and products for the local population and educate locals and visitors about local quality heritage and production. The design aims to enhance and respect the built heritage of the surrounding city by preserving and reusing the existing historical buildings, while gently adding new built masses that emphasize them and also bring the typical morphologies of surrounding buildings and grid into the compound. The connection to the urban “engine points” will be made by designing the access ways around and into the compound in a way that prioritizes traditionally overpowered “weak” users according to their arrival methods from around the city, using different transportation systems.
