STUDY I EPHEMERAL OCCURANCE STUDY "STOPPAGE ON CAMPANILE ESPLANDE" PERSONAL PROJECT LOCATION: CAMPANILE ESPLANDE, UC BERKELEY MEDIA: CAMERA CHARCOL, PEN & COLOR PENCIL THIS IS A HUMAN BEHAVIORAL STUDY ON WHERE AND HOW LONG PEOPLE WOULD CHOOSE TO STAY ON THE CAMPANILE ESPLANDE IN THE MORNING AND AFTERNOON BASED ON SUNLIGHT AND SHADING PROVIDED BY THE TREE CANOPY; AS WELL AS IF THE SHADING WILL ENCOURAGE SOCIAL BEHAVIORS WHEN PEOPLE ARE STOPPING ON THE ESPLANDE.

STUDY II URBAN TRANSECT STUDY "VISUALIZING GRAFFITI IN OAKLAND" GROUP PROJECT WITH MARK WESSELS LOCATION: OAKLAND MEDIA: CAMERA HAND MAKING+LASER CUTTING MODEL AUTOCAD+PS+ILLUTRATOR DRAWING THIS IS A HUMAN EXPERIENTIAL STUDY ON HOW DIFFERENT URBAN ENVIRONMENT CAN AFFECT THE ABUNDANCE AND DISTRIBUTION OF GRAFFITI, AND HOW DIFFERENT TYPES OF GRAFFITI ARE VISUALIZED BY PEOPLE BIKING OR WALKING ON THE STREETS.

STUDY III URBAN TYPOLOGY STUDY "GRAFFITI AND URBAN TRANSITIONAL ZONE" "GRAFFITI, SPACE, AND VEGETATION""GRAFFITI, SPACE, AND VEGETATION" GROUP PROJECT WITH MARK WESSELS LOCATION: OAKLAND MEDIA: PEN, PENCIL, COLOR PENCIL LASER CUTTING AND HAND MAKING MODEL THIS IS A TYPOLOGY STUDY AT DIFFERENT SCALES, STUDYING THE PATTERN OF GRAFFITI APPEARING/DISAPPEARING AT DIFFERENT URBAN TRANSITIONAL ZONES, AND HOW IMPLEMENTING VEGETATION(MODIFIER) CAN AFFECT THE VISUALIZATION OF GRAFFITI THROUGH TIME.

STUDY IV DESIGN WITH TYPOLOGY "GRAFFITI LABYRINTH" PERSONAL PROJECT LOCATION: RICHMOND WATERFRONT MEDIA: AUTOCAD, PS, ILLUSTRATOR DEVELOPOING FROM THE PREVIOUS TRANSCET AND TYPOLOGY STUDY, THIS IS A ONE WEEK FAST DESIGN, EXPLORING WHAT A SINGULAR TYPOLOGY CAN DO TO RECONSTRUCT/TRANSFORM A CITY. AS IN REALITY, URBAN ENVIRONMENT IS FORMED UPON THE COMBINED INFLUENCE OF MANY DIFFERENT TYPOLOGIES, THE LOGIC BEHIND THIS DESIGN IS MORE EXPERIMENTAL RATHER THAN RATIONAL. "GRAFFITI LABYRINTH" IS A UTOPIAN TREASURE LAND I CREATED WITH REPEATING AND INTERWEAVING GRAFFITI ART WALLS. THE LABYRINTH CONNECTS AND INTEGRATES PARKS, GARDENS AND PLAYGROUNDS, WHERE PEOPLE CAN EXPLORE, MEET AND HANG OUT.
DESIGN INSPIRATION -GRAFFITI WALL -SURREAL URBAN SPACE COVERED WITH GRAFFITI -ALDO VAN EYCK "THE PLAYGROUND AND THE CITY" -SURREAL GIANT LABYRINTH
PHASE I INTRODUCE GENERATE NEW FORM WALLS REPEATING, FOLDING AND PARTIALLY SEGMENTING AS CONNECTIONS BETWEEN LINEAR SPACES, AND GREEN OPEN SPACE.
PHASE II SPREAD DOMINATE NEW TERRITORY WALLS QUICKLY OCCUPY THE WATERFRONT INDUSTRIAL LAND BY FAST EXPANSION FOLLOWING THE TYPOLOGY CREATED IN THE PREVIOUS PHASE. THEN RESCALE INTERVALS BETWEEN THE WALLS AND INFILL GREEN SPACES, WATER FEATURES INSIDE AND AROUND THE LABYRINTH TO GIVE THE SAPCE MORE VARIATIONS.
PHASE III ESTABLISH STABLIZE NEW ORDER WALLS INTERWEAVING AND JOINING BY ENDS TO CREAT MORE SPATIAL VARIATIONS WITHIN THE LABYRINTH, AS WELLS AS TO COVER MORE GROUND SURFACES IN THE AREA. MEANWHILE, THE PREVIOUS BUILDINGS AND MAIN ROADS ARE RECUPERATED IN ORDER FOR THE AREA TO REGAIN SOME INTERIOR SPACES AND ALLOW FOR TRANSPORTATION.
