The Complete Beginner’s Guide to Dog Finding

Man’s best friend that is what our dogs are. They are the most loyal friend you could ever have and the most trustworthy as well, but what will you do if one day your dog just ran off and never returned? Of course, after waiting all day after he left you will do the next logical thing to do and that is to go looking for him. But before you do that here are some tips on how to help you find your lost dog faster:

Ask yourself why your dog ran off? As they are loyal to their owner, pets running off are not shocking news to most people. Pets do feel bored sometimes especially if their owner is too busy to play with them, have sexual urges that needed to be satisfied and may have been frightened by such event that might have caused him to run. All in all, your pet had a reason for running off.

Determine the direction he ran to. After charging off, make it a point that you know where he ran off. This will help you minimize the scope of the area you will sweep looking for him. If ever you are not at home when your dog disappeared, try asking your neighbor if they saw him ran or start from the direction he loves to go every time you go out for a walk. Determining the direction can help you have the initial searching and can gather information about the place he most likely goes. Information about the place itself, if there are bigger dogs or there are recent dog pound that search the area will help you on where to start looking. If your dog is most likely injured by the stray dogs he encountered from running, you can check the veterinaries or shelters for your dog.

Ask for help. It is not easy to find a missing dog, you don’t know what really happened to him or where he is and with the help of your friends finding your dogs will be easier, you can even ask them to bring their dogs as it can attract your dog’s attention. Using posters and picture in searches will maximize the possibility of finding your dog, and giving rewards are good too.

Go to Shelters and Humane Society Your dog may have been in the shelter all along. It may have been confused as a stray or was injured and it is there that it was being cured. Make sure by checking all cages and even the medical area just to be sure that you search everywhere.
