ow much do we love Cara? Whether she’s partying with Rihanna or leading Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid down the runway at BFF Taylor Swift’s London gig, she’s always having the best time. So when we were invited to meet the 23-year-old in LA as part of her promotional tour for new flick Paper Towns, we were beside ourselves. Cara really does seem to have it all – the celeb mates, an incredible wardrobe and a stellar career. This year, she took a step back from modelling (apart from select jobs with her mate,KateMoss–seepage17fortheirexclusiveMangoshoot). Instead, she’s now focused on making it in Hollywood. And she’s garnered rave reviews for her acting, since

To top it all off, Cara’s also settled down with girlfriend Annie Clarke, 32. ‘I think being in love with my girlfriend is a big part of why I’m feeling so happy with who I am these days,’ she admitted in a previous interview. The pair have been inseparable since last December, with Cara accompanying Annie on the festival circuit this summer when her schedule allowed it. But while Cara is feeling on top of the world, it hasn’t stopped people trying to break her down, including an American television host who asked her if ‘she even had time to read the book’ of Paper Towns. But Cara refuses to let the haters win. As John Green, the author of Paper Towns, said: ‘Cara doesn’t exist to feed your narrative or your news feed – and that’s why she’s so f***ing interesting.’ Indeed. When we meet her at The London Hotel in LA, we’re transfixed by those trademark eyebrows and cheekbones. Despite a long day of promotion, she’s

in a great mood and immediately tells us acting is her first love. But despite a big part in Amanda Knox biopic Face Of An Angel earlier this year, she’s always had her eye on the lead role – which is why she’s so excited about Paper Towns. What we especially love about Cara is that she doesn’t take herself too seriously. ‘Ilikeeveryonetohaveagood time. That’s my attitude and spirit generally,’ she says. e were thrilled when we saw that Jennifer Aniston and her fiancé of three years, Justin Theroux, had finally tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at their Bel Air mansion earlier this month. And it seems that the couple don’t want to waste any more time, as Look reported previously, they seem to be entering the next exciting phase of their life together by starting a family of their own. According to our sources, the newlywedshaven’t ruled out adoption, with Jen turning to her A-list pals for advice. ‘Jennifer and Justin have been exploring the idea,’ an insider tells Look. ‘They’re both taking a really hands-on approach and Jen’s been sayingshewantsatleasttwochildren.’ Jen,46, has reportedly been seeking advice from her old friends Charlize Theron and Sheryl Crow, as they both have plenty of experience with adoption. Singer Sheryl, 53, adopted her first child, eight-year-old Wyatt, in 2007, followed by Levi, five, three years later. Charlize, 40, adopted her three-year-old son Jackson in 2012,

from her native South Africa. And recently she added another little one to her growing brood, reportedly adopting a baby girl named August earlier this month. ‘Charlize and Sheryl have been perfect for Jen to talk to,’ a source tells us. ‘Their kids are still young, and they both waited to have them later in life, so they really understand what Jen is going through. ‘Naturally, Jen’s been worried about finally doing it, but Charlize assured her that everything would be absolutely fine,’ our source adds. ‘She’s told Jen there are so many ways to meet mums, and she’ll introduce her.’ Something Jen really seems to value is Charlize’s knowledge of the adoption process. It can take up to two years and requires a huge financial investment and plenty of patience – it reportedly took Charlize over six months to adopt her daughter. ‘Charlize has told Jen to expect endless interviews as she goes throughthisprocess,’saysourinsider. ‘And she has said she’ll be there for her every step of the way.’ Jen has been always been open

The Next Chapter Having made no secret about wanting to be a mum, Jen is weighing up her options, and Justin couldn’t be more supportive

about her dreams of motherhood. ‘I’ve always wanted to have children,’ she said in 2008. ‘And I would never give up that experience for a career. I want to have it all.’ And Justin, 44, seems equally broody – only last week he was snapped cuddling up to his The Leftovers co-star Liv Tyler’s son Sailor. ‘A lot of Jen’s friends have children,’ a pal says. ‘And she’s loved doting on Courteney Cox’s daughter Coco.’ Her desire to have a baby has intensified over the years after

Charlize Theron (pictured with her adopted son Jackson) is going to help Jen through the process

watching her grow up. But with Coco now 11 years old, Jen’s realised that she needs to be around mums with young kids – and that’s why she’s turned to friends like Charlize and Sheryl. And it’s perfect timing as Justin is on a filming break from his TV series and Jen hasn’t got any confirmed roles until next year. ‘Jen has never been so ready to have a baby,’ a source tells us. ‘Her and Justin can’t wait to be parents.’

B

ottega Veneta’s AW15 runway collection gave our wardrobe staples an overhaul in the form of neck-tie details. One of the new season’s most versatile trends, it’s basically the kind of skinny scarf loved by Kate Moss, added to dresses, tops and jumpsuits. Super simple, but super statement. Mix things up with different knots and bows, or undo the tie completely

for a relaxed vibe. This detail needs to do the talking, though, so avoid piling on lots of jewellery, and keep accessories sleek. Glam up a classic neck-tie top with classic cigarette trousers, or try a dress with knee-high boots for a 70s feel. DoesPosting LoadsOfSelfies MakeYouA BadPerson? Asastudyclaimsavidselfie takersaremorelikelytohavethe ‘darktriad’ofpersonalitytraits (narcissism,Machiavellianism andpsychopathy)–weask,is yoursnap-happy habitharmful?

It’sAHarmless Way To Feel Good

COMPILED BY: CATRIONA INNES PHOTOS: INSTAGRAM *NAME HAS BEEN CHANGED

sayswriterLaurenFranklin, 31, from Essex ‘OK, no one likes a selfie taker who hides behind ulterior motives (Hey guys, check outmynewcurtains!’*pout*).Andsomeone blocking up your newsfeed with endless shots can be really irritating. But this study makes them out to be totally evil. I think that’s taking online annoyance a step too far. I can’t help but smile when I see that someone has clearly spent ages taking and editing their pic. The amazing light, full-on eye contact, super pout and filtered-beyond-recognition snaps just show they want to put themselves out there looking as fabulous as possible. And we all thought it was amusing – and maybe a little arrogant – when Kim Kardashian released a book of her selfies, but does it make us love her any less? No – if anything, it made us love her even more! Sure, endless selfies can come across as insecure, and it’s a superficial validation, but who cares? There are worse symptoms of insecurity than letting the internet think you’re perfection. Is it really so bad to have a few seconds where you’re Kate Moss and your phone’s Testino? Let us dream.’

TheyShowYou AreSelf Obsessed arguesOliviaFoster,27, a journalist from London ‘Posting endless selfies is an extremely narcissistic thing to do. Full stop. I’ve snapped the odd one from time to time to show off a new outfit or haircut, but if your feed is full of identical pictures of your face it’s sending a pretty clear message: that your priorities in life are your looks and gaining validation through them. I saw this first hand with a friend of a friend called Sally*. Sally is popular online, posting mostly selfies with the odd body shot for good measure. Sally’s whole life revolves around how she looks, how other people perceive her looks and what she thinks about other people’s looks. So far, so shallow. But I’ve also noticed the other not-so-nice traits in Sally, and other friends who post endless selfies. They tend to spend hours talking about themselves, oblivious to other problems, and are obsessed with getting their own way. The thing about selfies is they allow people to indulge in their narcissistic traits and gain validation for them. That, in turn, encourages them to continue behaving badly.’

FKA Twigs On Racism:

‘SocietyTellsYou If You’reFairSkinned, You’reBeautiful’ In the week FKA Twigs opened up about racism, writer Yomi Adegoke explains why it’s still prevalent in our society…

‘S

ometimes people are going to treat you differently because of the colour of your skin. Sometimes you’re going to have to work ten times harder than somebody else to get the same appreciation.’ This is what FKA Twigs was told by her stepfather growing up. And there probably isn’t a black woman in the country that hasn’t sat through the very same talk. While many white people remain blissfully ‘colour blind’, black people learnofitalongsidelife’sotherlessons – not touching things that are hot; not eating food that’s fallen on the floor; the fact some people will not like you because of your skin colour. We’re not afforded the luxury of ignorance – whether our parents chose to advise us or not, we’d soon realise in some way or another that racism is still a very real problem. Twigs was the only mixed-race girl in her class. ‘When I was a teenager, every girl that vaguely looked like Britney in my class was the one who was [seen as] hot,’ she explained. ‘Western society tells you if you’re blonde, you’re beautiful; if you have fair skin, you’re beautiful.’ I have a similar memory from when I was a teenager. I remember an attractive man comingintothe hairdressers – I quickly covered my head. I was embarrassed

by my hair – not because it’s messy, but because it is afro. A lot of racism lies in what isn’t said as opposed to what is. Books, films, catwalks – it’s rare to see someone who looks like us. For every Jourdan Dunn there are ten Caras. It’s an afterthought for most, but like FKA Twigs, for many of us, it’s at the forefront of our minds. Especially when we go online. Why Dating Hot Men Is Sabotaging Your Love Life Recent research shows that attractive people make the worst partners. Look investigates why you should be dating down for ‘happy ever after’…

all attractive people are bound to ot guys. From Ryan Gosling be bad boyfriends, research has to Brad Pitt, we’ve all had a shown those blessed with good genes fantasy of dating someone can have some not-so-hot personality who is (in the words of traits. A recent study carried out by Zoolander) really, really Brunel University revealed that ridiculously good looking. But, as with attractive men are more selfish most fantasies, the reality can be quite and less generous than their more different. After all, we’ve all heard that one friend say: ‘He’s a bit of d**k… but average-looking counterparts. Another study from the University of he’s so good looking!’ Which is why so Exeter found that men who are rated many women are now turning their as the most masculine have more back on the fit guys (sorry Ryan) and testosterone, and men with going for Mr Average instead. high rates of testosterone are Kylie Minogue recently 38 per cent more likely to cheat. confessed that in her Louise*, 32, from quest to find love Manchester, is she’s decided to not surprised. ‘The ditch the hunks of guys I’ve dated in her past (hello, the past have always Oliver Martinez) been really hot,’ and search for she says. ‘But it’s someone a bit never worked out. more, well, Sure, it’s been really normal. ‘Maybe passionate at the too good looking beginning but the is where I’ve been relationships always going wrong,’ ended because she mused. I let it happen,’ adds Louise. ‘I think I lost my brain a little when it came to the way he treated me.’ But Louise wasn’t being a push-over. Apparently we all excuse bad behaviour in the name of attractiveness. Studies show we subconsciously view good-looking individuals as kind, so when things go wrong we assume it’s not their fault. This so-called ‘halo effect’ can even go as far as the courtroom, with mock trials showing that physically attractive defendants are less likely to be perceived as guilty when they’ve been charged with a crime. ‘The reason we are so drawn to good-looking people as partners is because in ancestral times they were seen as the best, healthiest mates,’ says Emma Kenny. ‘But things have changed hugely since then. Back then we were just looking for someone to reproduce with. The strongest relationships are ones where you’re connecting on a deep level, with similar viewpoints. ‘And attraction grows – so even if your new partner isn’t as goodlooking as your previous ones, that will change. They’ll become the most gorgeous person in the world to you.’

‘I Only Dated Hot Guys… And It Always Went Wrong’ Laura Barcella, 36, an author from Washington DC, shares why she’s given up on handsome men…

them for being so selfish. I’ve now decided to look for someone with a little bit more substance.’ ‘These studies do make sense,’ says psychologist Emma Kenny. ‘If you’re attractive, you have a wider choice of sexual partners – which could lead you astray. It’s also been shown we are hard-wired to prefer attractive people and that means the better looking you are, the better off in life you’ll be – and if the light has always shone on you, you’ll be used to that and be less aware of other people’s feelings.’ Studies show that from birth, babies prefer attractive faces and this carries through: good-looking people are less likely to be bullied in school, and, at work, are more likely to be hired than those considered less attractive. But all this unearned attention can present problems when it comes to relationships. Kelly Brook, who has dated a string of athletes and models, has spoken in the past about the pitfalls of dating the super-hot. On rugby star Danny Cipriani, she said: ‘He needs constant attention from any woman, and if you’re not going to give it to him there’s a whole line of women who are ready to.’ ‘I must admit the ex who cheated on me did so more than once, and

AMANDA ‘I SoSickO P u On o en o eC e Look’s Catriona Innes jetted to Paris to chat to Ms Seyfried, 29, about childhood memories, guilty pleasures and the beauty regime that keeps her looking amazing… e’ve got just two hours in Paris. The temperature outside has reached 40 degrees and the streets are chaotic with traffic. Inside though, everything is calm. We’re in the Mandarin Oriental hotel to interview Amanda Seyfried, who is here to unveil the latest Givenchy fragrance from the Very Irrésistible family. Tucked up on a sleek grey sofa, the actress immediately greets us with a hug. It’s this friendliness that makes Amanda stand out – she appears to really care and take notice of everything around her. She occasionally answers

W

questions and then looks nervously at her publicist, as if she regrets being so open. After all, she has in the past admitted to getting the word ‘minge’ tattooed on her foot and once said she was ‘pigeonholed as a dumb blonde’ after Mean Girls. But her honesty is one of the things we love most about the actress, who is exactly as she appears on screen. With those big blue eyes, glowing skin and glossy hair, we’re entranced, but after just five minutes she’s so chatty and sweet we completely forget we’re talking to the star of Mamma Mia, Les Misérables and more recently Ted 2. We can totally see why her boyfriend of two years, actor Justin Long, 37, fell for her. We’re head over heels too…

Amanda Seyfried Interview areplacedonwomentoday? Being the best you can be at what you do, looking the best you can and doing your job faster than others – all these weird pressures that are put upon us. Wealwaysseeyououtwithyourdog, Finn.Doeshegomostplaceswithyou? Yeah, he’s like a person! Riccardo even made me a T-shirt with him on. It’s really funny. He made one for Justin too. Doesyourlifestyleaffectyourlook? In the day I wear nothing on my face apart from sunscreen. I’m constantly applying it because I am outside and take my dog to the park every day so I get a lot of sun. In the evening, if I’m doing [strong] lips just a little mascara, and then if I do a smoky eye, it’s nude lips. That’s the rule! You’vegotincredibleskin, what’s yourbeautyroutine? Every morning I wash my face with Clé de Peau cleansing foam, then the toner, then the cream. At night I do the same–Iwashmyfaceandputthecream on super-thick. Then, right before bed, I put a little lavender oil on my nose – it calmsme, especiallyifI’mfeelinganxious. Whataboutwhenitcomestoscent? I’m just not the kind of person who wakes up, showers and puts perfume on and goes to work because I don’t have a normal job. I’m usually wearing gym clothes! Live Irrésistible is bright and light – there’s something sunny about it, so it’s perfect for daytime, but I wear it at night. Fragranceissoassociatedwith memories.Arethereanysmellsthat transportyoubacktoyourchildhood? My grandfather wore Old Spice and so whenever I smell [that] on a man, they just immediately feel familiar to me, even if I’ve never met them. My sister,

in high school, wore Dior Poison. If I smell it [now] I’m just like: ‘Jenny’. Wouldyoueverwant to create your ownperfume? I don’t know anything about it, I wouldn’t know where to begin! I don’t have time, it’s not my passion to create a fragrance or a fashion brand or a shoe. I’d rather paint or watch movies. If you could bottle the smell of anything, what would it be? Oh, thunderstorm! When it’s a hot day, you see the rain sweep in and everything just gets soaked. The smell that comes up off the street and grass. HiAmanda, whatisitlikebeing thefaceofGivenchyLiveIrrésistible? It felt like such a natural collaboration. I respect Riccardo [Tisci, artistic director of Givenchy]. His perfumes are known for being very sensual, very sophisticated and very feminine and I wanted to embody that strong female. You’vebeenopeninthepastabout sufferingfromanxiety.Doyoutake strengthfromsharingyourstory? I feel like it’s OK to talk about being scared because if you suppress it, it’s only going to get worse. I’m grateful I’m so aware of [my anxieties] and willing to fight through. In the past I’ve allowed it to take over so much that I didn’t do the things I wanted. What advice would you give someone who was suffering from anxiety? Just to figure out where it comes from, where you feel it and then focus on that. Also don’t judge yourself for it. When you judge yourself for feeling anxious, there’s no way you’re going to be able to work through it. You’reinarelationshipwithJustin andabouttoturn30.Youmustkeep gettingaskedifyouwantchildren… Right now, I’m being careful! But it does seem like a wonderful adventure. My three best friends have kids and it looks like they’ve figured out the secret of life because of it. They are very happy. Hit a private screening of Me and Earl and The Dying Girl with our amazing offer

T

o celebrate the release of Me and Earl and The Dying Girl, we’ve teamed up with Fox Searchlight Pictures to offer Look readers the chance to see the film at an exclusive private screening before anyone else. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, Me and Earl and The Dying Girl is the funny, moving story of Greg (Thomas Mann), a high-school senior who is trying to blend in anonymously, avoiding deeper relationships as a survival strategy for navigating the social minefield that is teenage life.

MeAndEarlAndTheDyingGirlUK

He even describes his constant companion Earl (RJ Cyler), with whom he makes short film parodies of classic movies, as more of a ‘co-worker’ than a best friend. But when Greg’s mum insists he spend time with Rachel (Olivia Cooke) – a girl in his class who’s just been diagnosed with cancer – he slowly discovers how worthwhile the true bonds of friendship can be. Screenings will take place at selected cinemas on Tuesday 25 August from 6.30pm. To reserve your ticket, simply visit Showfilmfirst.com and enter the code 888042. Hurry, tickets are limited! Renowned for its signature satchels, The Cambridge Satchel Company’s beauties come in just about every colour of the rainbow – and every size. The label also creates everything from backpacks to purses, too, meaning there really is something for everyone. eing a vlogger means a lot of my time is spent on my own, so being with some of my friends, getting out of the house and having fun in the sun is exactly what I need sometimes! My ideal summer day would be grabbing an iced coffee, strolling around a food, vintage or antiques market and taking some pictures for my blog. On a weekend, I love strolling around areas like Primrose Hill, then sitting with a picnic and relaxing with friends. London in the summer is amazing. Everyone is so much happier and the parks are full of people making the most of the weather. And there’s nothing better than a girlie natter and some yummy food to go with it!’

YourBest Kept Secret Don’t let the odd grey or dull locks stress you out – give your tresses a youthful boost and expect your richest colour and shiniest hair yet…

W

e all love to tell ourselves little white lies to get us through the day, like promising we’ll go to the gym because we ate that pizza last night. But who isn’t a fan of treating themselves with a little feel-good pressie, right? Well, what if we told you we’d found the ultimate mood lifter and confidence booster in one? OK, listen up! First-time grey hairs can be a total nightmare, we know, but if you don’t want to commit to a permanent colour, try a semi-permanent one instead and think of it as an easy beauty pick-me-up that requires little to no effort at all. The product in question is L’Oréal Paris Casting Crème Gloss, RRP £6.79 – a no-fuss, deeply conditioning colour formula that lasts for up to 28 shampoos. It easily blends away greys, too, leaving you with a gorgeous mix of shimmering tones that look totally natural.

Gabrielle Dyer, 22

A new colour can make you feel as good as a new pair of shoes, and Look’s Beauty Assistant Gabrielle knows the power of a good hair day. ‘You shouldn’t let first-time greys ruin your day – I’d recommend Casting Crème Gloss as the best way to transform your ’do. As a beauty assistant I’ve tried and tested lots of hair products, and you may not expect glossy colour and serious shine from an at-home product, but that’s exactly what you’ll get. The conditioning formula will keep your hair looking and feeling its best, even several weeks later.’

Promotion Kim Jatinder, 41

Kim’s got quite stubborn greys and has tried at-home dyes before, but has never found one that blended well with her colour. Here’s what she thought… ‘After using Casting Crème Gloss, I noticed the texture of my hair had really improved; it was easier to manage, too. Also, the other day, my daughter commented on how nice my hair looked and how soft it felt, which was a nice boost. Plus, it turned my highlights a lovely multi-tonal colour, which I’ve never had before.’

Zuzanna Ritchie, 36 Before using Casting Crème Gloss, Zuzanna had experimented with a few at-home colourants. With a mixture of blue and purple faded highlights, she wanted to bring back the shine she feels her hair has lost.

‘I used to tell myself greys are just part of getting older, but now I don’t have to worry. The Darkest Brown 300 shade covered everything and left my hair looking so healthy with a rich tone. I haven’t had just one colour for the last seven years, and I really like it.’

Jenny Green, 31

Having not used an at-home dye kit for a long time, Jenny was quite sceptical, because she found it was a bit of a guessing game knowing how the colour was going to turn out. ‘I couldn’t believe how easy this product was to use, and the results were even better than I ever expected. Before, my hair was really dull and I was a bit bored with it, but the Chocolate Fudge 403 shade was amazing – it seriously refreshed my colour. I’ve had so many compliments since!’
