PRODUCT DESIGN

EXHIBIT DESIGN 7 WEEK | RHINO - ILLUSTRATOR INDESIGN - PROTOTYPING

THIS PROJECT CHALLENGED US TO CREATE A EXHIBIT THAT DISPLAYED A PRODUCT USING COMPONENTS OF INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE AND DISPLAY FABRICATION. FOR MY COMPANY I CHOOSE EAGLE NEST OUTFITTERS. THEY PRODUCE CAMPING EQUIPMENT AND SPECIALIZED IN HAMMOCKS. THEIR NUMBER ONE SELLER IS THEIR HAMMOCKS SO I FOCUSED ON THIS PRODUCT TO DISPLAY

STARTED THE PROJECT OFF WITH 100 SKETCHES TO EXPLORE . FOR THIS PROJECT I WAS INSPIRED BY TENSILE STRUCTURES, TREE CANOPIES, CAMPING GEAR AND USER USAGE BASED ON PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH THE PRODUCT.

EXHIBIT DESIGN

FOR OUR DIGITAL CLASS WE WERE ASSIGNED TO DESIGN A CONNECTION COMPONENT OF OUR DESIGN. FOR THIS I DESIGN HOW THE CANVAS CANOPIES WOULD ATTACH TOO THE POLES. SINCE EXHIBIT MOVES FROM PLACE TO PLACE, I USED A FLAG POLE INSPIRED DESIGN

LIGHTING DESIGN EXTRUDED

THE SIDES ARE MADE UP OF A CUBICLE SYSTEM THAT ALLOWS FOR LIGHTING TO SHINE THROWN THE FABRIC COLOR OPTIONS FOR THE HAMMOCKS REPRESENTED BY TRIANGLE FORMS. THE SPACE DISPLAYS THREE HAMMOCKS. ONE IS USED FOR PRODUCT DISPLAY. THE OTHER TWO ARE FOR STORAGE USE.

EXHIBIT DESIGN

THE INTENT OF THIS DESIGN WAS TO COMBINE THE CITY AND NATURE ENVIRONMENTS. NATURE WAS EXPRESSED THROUGH THE USE OF LARGE POLES AND CANVAS CANOPIES TO REPRESENT TREES AND TREE CANOPY.

DESIGN PROPOSAL : Houston is on track to soon become the nation’s third largest city. The Bayou city is home to over 2 million Houstonians, with another nearly 5 million friends and family in the surrounding metro area. Despite sustained population growth, the city has not kept pace in developing public transportation. Houston opened its first 3 metro rail lines recently, decades after its metropolitan counterparts. As our population continues to climb, Interest and demand for public transportation is beginning to grow. The city and metro are interested in rebranding their existing transit centers and providing new facilities to champion the continued growth and success of public transportation in the city. The current downtown transit center sits along Main Street on the south end of downtown. Metro envisions an opportunity for a sister station at the north end of Main. This location provides the opportunity for abrand new, aspirational and iconic facility to set the standard and expectation for future Metro expansions.
