E D I T O R I A L This is a FAN-PDF about a band I love. This band is called Lungfish. The band does not exist anymore. In 2006 Lungfish went on seemingly permanent hiatus. The first concern of this PDF is pretty basic. I am a human being and almost every time I listen to Lungfish I am deeply touched, moved and changed by the music. You as a reader of this text are a human being as well which might experience similar things while listening to the music of Lungfish. If that happens we have a connection. Moreover the music & band are stand-ins for things I hold precious. They remind me of values & mindsets I long for. The music speaks to me on an aesthetic level of course. But equally important are the messages I receive from Lungfish which tickle my moral conscience. They remind me of artistic integrity. The need for religious outlet. Realness. They give me hope and articulate things which I thought can not be articulated. Maybe I am exaggerating & mythologizing but that’s legit because I am a fan. Fandom seems timeless and optimistic to me. When I get lost in it I feel alive. I can channel a lot of things through fandom. Joy. Compassion. Love. Spiritual yearning. When you are a fan you tend to mythologize. And that`s more than fine. Fandom is a productive outlet for projecting and creating new myths.

The look and design of the FAN-PDF is a reference & salute to the old school hardcore fanzines from the 80’s. I tried to incorporate the graphic language of Lungfish too. They established and created their own signs & symbols. The design of the PDF can seem anachronistic at first. But hold on. Despite the odd combinations of letters and forms I tried to show how we communicate, write and receive text & information right now. In 2016. Contemporary ways of communication contain symbolic values like the old signs & symbols (which we are more conditioned and used to) as well. Add to that the fact that cultural products, images and forms become out of date and seem historic so fast that I find it necessary to highlight that questionable tendency. I would like to thank Daniel Higgs, Asa Osborne, Mitchell Feldstein, Sean Meadows, John Chriest & Nathan Bell for the music and you for reading. Alexander Winkelmann

The Lungfish band from Baltimore, Maryland performed and released albums on the Dischord Records label for more than 20 years...

The Baltimore band grew out of the ’80s Hardcore Movement, and over the next decade it would slowly transform into the genre’s shamanistic center.

Their music was repetitive, meditative, and cosmic.

A typical song would feature no chorus or bridge, only one cyclical guitar riff, while the band’s resident mystic, the imposing, bearded, shamanic Daniel Higgs, would issue lysergic declamations that sounded for all the world like some kind of scripture.

Their last album of new material is now 11 years old, and apart from the 2012 release of A.C.R. 1999 a “lost album” from years earlier, there’s been no activity from the band.

In spite of the current clamor for reunions of bands great and small Lungfish has remained silent.

THE LUNGFISH

For the first six or eight months we didn’t have any particular goals. We worked a lot of Dick Tuner, inventor of the Smile Machine. He would work with these tone generators and tape loops and things like that. Eric Meyers came and played Electric Scissors and an electrified metal door. It was just trying to make our own fun, basically. We played at Harvest Moon Vegetarian Restaurant, the Maryland Institute, the Hour Haus.

We weren’t interested in starting a band. We were just interested in playing some songs in a band situation. So we called up Asa and Mitchell and it just seemed to grow on its own. This was about 1988.

We had deference to one another in the band. It was not like a bunch of people soloing. There was a lot of listening. I found there‘s layers of listening as a musician. You can approach things on the surface but then you go deeper, play of the other person‘s emotions.

When we came into the room we paid attention to everybody else, as well as ourselves, and started to put the songs together. If it felt good to me and if it made sense then that‘s the way it went. If you were not comfortable with what you were playing, you shifted what you were playing until you could be. Sometimes Daniel‘s words would be great and we’ll have a song but if it was not getting it for him, maybe he would come up with different words. We would all do that. We shaped it together on our own until we came up with something we were all happy with.

The way I felt, I could write 60 million bass lines, and I could play the same bass line any number of different ways. I was not so fixed on it. Practice after practice we worked through a song, played it three times and started another one. When you had so many songs you didn’t have any of the tension of ‘This song is a great song and I love it and it has to be this way or I’m quitting.’

When you’re saying poetry aloud without music, there’s no constraints verbal-wise. But if you’re playing with music, if you want words to be with the music and not work against it. The melody and the rhythm are going to edit the words for you. Some words are just too much of a mouthful or too awkward. The music doesn’t shape the sentiments but it definitely shapes the sounds of the words.

I was not really too conscious of verbal theatrics. There wasn’t usually a punchline in our songs where there was one word or one phrase that was going to be emphasized because it was more important. Our songs tended to be not so many peaks and valleys, they were more straight across. We were not especially conscious of arranging songs so they were especially dynamic. We played what we thought would sound good. It was not like we were trying to milk or manipulate an emotional response for who we presumed might be listening.

When I thought of the music, I knew it as an entity.... I would hope it speaks to people, because it was speaking to us as we were making it. It would be telling us many things at once.... It took all four of us to listen, to take orders from it....

Well, it is true, we were working with ‚The Lungfish,‘. However, beyond its proverbial opulence, there was a benevolence which made itself manifest through a system of music. Quite frankly, I was surprised more people weren‘t working with his highest Gill, but I was of the understanding that the revealing of this source was an enigma.... Its threshold to this world came through Asa, and Daniel helped kind of channel the songs through like a midwife. Mitchell then spanked the little thing on its ass to get it breathing... my part has been to find the body by pushing the exoskeleton out a little bit....

There was a temptation to bring in all kinds of crazy new sounds but ultimately, we would stick with the guitars and drums.

If you and I were to become lifelong friends, I couldn’t tell you what I’m about in 20 years… I think I said in one song that they’re songs about music, which sounds overly simplistic at first, but when you think about it, it’s really not… We knew years ago that we wanted to hear the Lungfish music, but we didn’t know what it would sound like.

If you’ve never heard the song before, after several seconds you have heard the song, and it’s gonna do that for a few more minutes.

: : There‘s no fucking around with Lungfish. They continually sharpen the focus on the concept of ‚real.‘

N Lungfish to me is like a spring, a beautiful body of water that everybody should take a swim in. But nobody seems to know they exist and if they come across it they don‘t know if it‘s a safe place to jump in. It is fuckin‘ safe, jump the fuck in, people!

N

J Growing up, Lungfish was one of the most important bands in my musical cosmology: The Dischord crew that tapped into something incantatory with a questing, spiritual, and (most importantly) punk poetry via an awesome, raga-like minimalism.

J

O The genius of Lungfish is that you never ask yourself, “What does this guy mean?” You just seem to know, even if you really don’t. Right before the squirrel speaks to Dan in "Shed the World", he speaks of being “interrogated by the familiar.” What’s so special about Lungfish is how familiar they feel, even while they have always made music that is inimitable and flawless.

O

O In fact, the songs become an index of being—the soundtrack of living in a riling world as connected to folkloric rites as it is to the video age. On “Sex War”, which evokes the body’s trials and tribulations, Higgs fittingly belts out, “Until the repetitions cease / The repetition must increase”. Such song maps life’s patterns and permutations, from flesh-based anxieties to metaphysical and lexical flux.

O

7 I can dwell on life‘s impermanence I can meditate on the connectedness of all things. I can search for The Tao. I can attempt to transcend linear time. I can attempt to transcend ‚I.‘ I can seek Enlightenment. But I can also listen to Lungfish.

K Suspended in a no-man’s land between legendary status and genuine obscurity, Lungfish make music I’ve been wanting to listen to for a long time.

Somebody once said to me ‘God, they play the same song over and over,’ and I thought Yeah, it’s so wonderful.

What a great song. I can’t think of a kinder gift to the world than doing something so nice so many times in a row.

Friend to Friend in Endtime Everything he thought he knew Was alive and too sound He was kicking over And the sound she made When she tried to keep quiet Was like kicking over Everything we saved Friend to friend in the Endtime She‘s full of regret But she treats me alright She‘s kicking it over We live with collision We strap ourselves in We‘re kicking over The space our place is in Well I‘ll come to grips if I do I‘ll make amends if I do Friend to friend in the Endtime I put you in my way You put me in your way We‘re kicking over I repeated what I thought you said Before I knew what you really said I‘m kicking over Stripped of my allegiance Friend to friend in the Endtime I want you water in my water Just shy of threatening Kicking over I wanted to give to get some It‘s all poor judgement It‘s all one government We‘re kicking over It‘s all one head with a face on it Friend to friend in the Endtime Friend befriends friend in the Endtime Broadcast The hand is gone But the grips remains The eye is gone But the gaze remains The brain is gone But the idea remains And when the feet are gone The path will still remain The lung is gone But the breath remains The heart is gone But the beat remains The throat is gone But the voice remains And when the mouth is gone The word will still remain The nerves are gone But the signal remains The veins are gone But the river remains The knee is gone But the joint remains And when the spine is gone The junction will remain The skull is gone But the house remains The hips are gone But the seed remains The womb is gone But the vacuum remains And when the mind is gone The broadcast will still remain So thankful receiving it So thankful retrieving it So thankful to walk through it So thankful to breath it in I‘m so thankful I‘m walking Thankful to be treading the face of this earth With you all Descender I saw her climb the 13th rung I heard her singing the song she sung I caught the flower that she flung I saw a paper tab burning on her tongue She‘s an angel you‘ll agree Biggest damn halo that you‘re ever gonna see He mouth roars her eye shine If you‘re painfully honest you can stand in her light, man I saw her blow her fragile fuse I tried to crack her code but it was no use She‘s concentrating on levitation Her body burst into violet hues I took a look at her tattered shoes I offered her mine but she refused She said: I want these cuts on my feet, man gotta become sensitive as I can She reached down put some trash in her hair, man She don‘t wonder and she don‘t ponder She keeps walking but she never wanders The tiny cuts in your skin They let a little fresh air in You dilate your opening And when it starts to gush: START TO SING I saw her bleed I saw her kneel I don‘t pretend to understand What she is feeling I saw her rise A golden ray of light Appeared between her eyes She rose above the gathering crowd The sky was dark and the weather was loud She coalesced up in the cloud She converted my without a word Her churchbell heartbeat was all I heard Samuel You lay your hands You lay your hands on You put your foot down You put it down on the overground We followed you But you refused a trail All you need is a ray of weightless sunshine To fill your sail Samuel It‘s so good to see you Making you own way It‘s so good to see somebody save a little sunshine put away for a rainy day Samuel Seen a lantern swinging Down in the tunnel About a two hour walk down the railroad line To Camden Yards in the dark You take a fishing line And a sewing needle I thought I saw popping out of the top of your head A cathedral steeple Kissing To be so agile To twist without authority or respect Face off with all reflection Confront the mundane manifest I‘m going through the motion I got too far ahead of myself I smothered my conviction I got too far ahead of myself I thought my torch was burning I held aloft a cold branch I thought my path was shining I was walking on outstretched hands I‘m a whole lot of I don‘t knows I try to stave off the I don‘t cares My feet begin to lead me I could sleep anywhere So what I have to say today And what I‘ve got left to stand on Is that I am a random system I‘m an ill connected pattern I am a behavior That could have been your own Reveal me My Fool Heart Oh my My Fool Heart I wish you were a brand new start We take the lies and we break them apart Trying to identify the hidden target Oh my My fool heart I wish you were a go-cart We take off running down a hill Making turns too tight until we spill it over Oh my My fool heart I wish you were a walk through the park Birds singing and trees creaking Shoes I could fill that never needed breaking in Oh my My fool heart I wish you were a manifold part Galvanized and weatherized You got you 4-wheel drive to spiritualize it Oh my My fool heart I wish you were a torch burning in the dark The faces of the assassinated Smiling calmly and sedated One Face We share one face Non Dual Bliss She called me on the phone She could tell by the sound of my voice I was sitting home all alone She said to me in a whispering tone: Do you believe? Do you believe in liberation? Can you understand liberation? Are you afraid of liberation? I am afraid of liberation I admit I‘m afraid She sent me a letter I got it in the mail I broke the seal And I read that letter She had beautiful handwriting She had a beautiful hand She had beautiful handwriting And this is what I read: Do you believe in liberation? Can you understand liberation? Are you afraid of liberation? I am afraid of liberation I admit I‘m afraid She saw me on the street She tugged at my shirtsleeve She handed me a leaflet I put it in my pocket I was doing my laundry I checked my pocket I produced the leaflet Which I proceeded to read Do you believe in liberation? Can you understand liberation? Are you afraid of liberation? I am afraid of liberation I admit I‘m afraid She knocked on my front door Got me out of bed I turned on my porch light I looked out my peep hole I seen her starting to jerk I seen her starting to shake I seen her about to spill over When she started to speak she said: Do you believe? Put Your Hand in My Hand Put your hand in my hand And look me in the eye when you‘re talking to me Put your hand in my hand And look me in the eye Will you join me way out? I said will you join me way out?

Which spread a smothering blanket on an evolutionary launch pad. Vision was tested on blank sky and voice said, „Let me tell you about the time that something occurred.“ Medication caused an ear to hear and a conflict of interpretation arose. Landscapes were drawn from a plague of particles, and the burden was distributed. The law would return as inflated skins. While music initiated architecture. Animals, living through a velocity of fear began to modify their behavior to comply with human observation. Thus dropping a keystone into the eggshell honeycomb of anthrocentric history since. As for the plants, they had been with the music. Science procured a steepled shell dressed for immortality, hollow to hold the music. Emotion repelled all opinion and refused to consider it‘s origin. Apples happened bringing acids and enzymes, the spinning recorder disguised as an endless bouquet. Things became erotic at the drop of a hat. A tyrant placed an apple on a table and lorded over it. As a fish realized it held a monkey inside itself and expelled it on the beach in a larval salamander form. The voters clamored for more circles and the whole rig began to rotate. Books were used for fuel and money and everybody was writing them. The planets turned inside out to expose their freight. No charges were pressed because all involved agreed that they could die. These are secrets a world sung to me truer than the truth. A young order of birds that eats the eyes of believers. Science predicted forms of worship and reveled in them.An orgy of mutation took place for many years. Between stones, near water, and inside clouds. The people bound their feet with the skins of the animals to trample their own cities and each other. They developed external organs like guns and television sets. They believed that they owned things. One mind in a generation will hear the eternal broadcast of the voice saying, „Let me tell you about the time that something occurred.“ And that mind‘s body will be strapped down and that body‘s mind will subject to testing or electric currents rippled through the brain. But the music pervades. It was music that gave the shove. And resolved in music we shall breathe. It was children that crafted a parent. And resolved in children we shall live. Axiomatic If and when my voice was splitting we fall to come to get with you cracking heads that smile refracted a song slips past a cage—the rent gets paid never felt so sane we fall to come to get with you something in the gut is tearing a uniform for mocking freedom if and when a well lit coffin rumors of a new dawn breaking take you name never felt so sane we fall to come to get with you a pile of bread and a heap of blankets an x-ray of a hand that‘s signing a lease on life between the badges the vehicle is fit and sterile brave like eggs never felt so sane we fall to come to get with you we‘re in the maps—we‘re in the phones we‘re in the waving hand tuning the reflector on the identification cards we‘re in the tire tread—we‘re in the filament to give us confusion to state the obvious Open House There‘s one place we‘re all going yet to be disproved call it the light or a candy bribe you can‘t stop moving toward it it‘s a suction-magnet-maze where you recline and become unmade when the dirt hits your face you part like water and the rope that drops you down is the smoke that chokes you out the anthem you snuck on his airplane disguised as an orchard and if you think you‘re living now wait til you rub the grain on the opposite ugliest side of a beautiful membrane when he steps up to speak he‘ll be wearing crossed hairs or concentric circles depending on your vision point your spiny mind aimed in all directions give it a loving nudge give it an early warning know your uniform be brave in your uniform be just in your uniform stay warm in your uniform 8.14.2116 Learned to count by match light nourished by a simple plastic bag the material of ghost shoes sought like saffron and pounded so small that bird neck landing and the tears of its wings landing learned to read by a ration of light nothing comes to the faithless firsthand yet all we crave won‘t save us on the other side don‘t let your land hand know what your right hand is doing don‘t let your right hand know what your left hand is going through things got oddly real got a sudden feeling gotta take the wheel back I can‘t say I‘m awake yet don‘t count on me to stay awake yet sustained by a simple scent sprung from molecular pegboard in the two-way cage of a laboratory in the sub-basement beneath the official union barber shop where those who are sometimes called pigs get shaved nothing comes to the faithless firsthand yet all we crave won‘t save us on the other hand don‘t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing don‘t know your right hand know what your left hand is going through we will crawl over the walls we will become manifest any time and every time we so choose and we will persevere it won‘t be like money anymore You Might Ask Me What I might reply: nothing but so neural and nervous oh so neural and nervous oh and you might ask me what I might reply: nothing but that wing on your head that bell in your bed—agitated you might ask me why I might reply I‘m just trying to get by locked into that locked-out sensation a confession penned by the hand to the mouth of the fear of being eaten you might ask me what and I might reply: we‘re ready already Seek Sound Shelter Some will simply say some will take their time some will sway unswervingly some will take no ticket no number some will hold their palms out some will hide their hands many get sick many become confused seek sound shelter observe the time the rule when choosing beauty from the beautiful I stand by waiting on an impulse that I am prepared to act upon when it had never not been now I am prepared to walk upon it if I had a dime for every time I had a dollar many get sick many become confused

Space Orgy I am everywhere all the time You will know me by my smell East-West on the greyhound line Tracing invisible trails Here is my head in a Lucite box You will know me by my frequency Here is my footprint on the face of Mars In the Year of Our Lord, 10, 000 B.C. It‘s later than I thought it could get I lust in brand new ways I loiter below the weather clock To await the appointed day When the bibles rise in the urban skies And combust in electric flames The birds sustain a monotone drone Until we forget our names These dreams we dream in common You know the ones where we eat our organs That dream is the last reminder That dream is the final warning Those who heed greet those who defy Those who admit salute those who deny And rise to a certain altitude Where the divided mind is nullified Choose your choice at the chosen time Remove your face at the designated place Peel your skin at the beginning, friend It will be returned at the end Labor and toil and trial and task The nature of which depends who you ask One thing is certain This much is clear The first day is looming The last day is near The bibles maintain a monotone drone The birds coalesce in a human form Its stride is a worldwide broadcast As all earthly species exhale Peel your mind at the middle Furnish the newfound void You are inside out at Antiquity A monument to be destroyed I marched in a wedding on the Equinox My cheek pouch full of coins Here is my liver in a lead-lined box Here is my egg and seed conjoined I pledge to stand at attention I pledge to never swerve I pledge to sing 1,000 more songs In confusion I shall serve Web of Mirrors Searchlight Transactive reciprocity Equal pressure applied The fixed point of the transient The ventricle of the sky Searchlight search, searchlight bright Searchlight shine and seek Observe the inevitable Yield to certainty Cellular intelligence Absorption by degrees to exist is to comply Elimination by degrees Searchlight search, searchlight bright Searchlight shine and seek Observe the inevitable Yielt to certainty The pelvis is cyclopean The throne of the compound eye The inevitable will not fade away The certain will not stand aside Vulgar Theories There‘s a ghost in the womb There‘s a womb in the brain A brain in the soil Dissolving in the rain Rain upon the ocean face A face on the palm of a human hand A hand that swallows empty space To nourish the time that we withstand There‘s time enough to save and keep To save the signs that rise in steep To mimic the pigs and mimic the sheep To marvel at the high and steep There‘s a distance to the end There‘s an end to distance‘s reach Reach to push to come to know How to sow and what to reap There are fruits that we have borne Gone rotting and unrecognized Recollect a memory Of sentient orbs in a sentient sky There‘s a sky the faithful find Space that speaks to listening time Join and sunder - sever and bind The junction of two parallel lines There is a trace that is sought to seek 10, 000 years pass in a week Lately it has become clear - The weak are strong and the strong are weak Not to say that all is reversed And not to say that all is cursed Not to disfgure and not to pervert: Praise Praise Praise God‘s Will God‘s Will Not Yours Not Mine God‘s Will Not Yours Not Mine God‘s Will Not Yours Not Mine God‘s Will Not Yours Not Mine God‘s Will Not Yours Not Mine God‘s Will Not Yours Not Mine God‘s Will Not Yours Not Mine God‘s Will Not Yours Not Mine Mated When marigolds fall from your pores And magpies burst from your throat You will be speaking in future tongues You will be wearing backwards Coat And we will be mated When you are sitting unaware Tracing circles in the air And if they spin upon their axex And blossom into spheres Then we will be mated On the scalp of the sun We will find a sign inscribed Of the triple genitalia As if to remind us That we will be mated When our children resort to lies When Baltimore begins to rise When you hear the inhuman cries Do not avert your eyes We will be mated Metatron The navel sprouts a ladder beam A column of ash and a piller of dust The pelvis awaits the sinking skull Descending in degrees of lust What believers believe and seers have seen In their hearts and brains and livers and spleens From leaf to branch to bow to trunk A cycle of filth burning clean The iris sprouts an open gate A point of exit and entering Where crossroads cross and continue along The planet‘s curve and the planet‘s swing What thinkers have thought and knowers have known In their nerves and veins and hairs and bone A tomb of encyclopedias The moon relays what the sun has shone The urethra sprouts a mirrored Bell That rings and reflects simultaneously Hovering like a dragonfly Above the levitating trees What the doomsdayers and the naysayers say In their guts and thighs and vertebrae From stone to soil to root to trunk The miracle of mutation Sands of Time Return to the Caves Hallucinatorium My wife has a head of smoke My wife has a leg of flame My wife has a hand of bone My wife has a silent name My husband walks upon the walls My husband is ten miles tall My husband is the atmosphere My husband is a living prayer My daughter sleeps up in the trees My daughter is a complex creed My daughter keeps a shaft of light My daughter moves in degrees of might My son has invisible eyes My son laughs as though he cries My son maintains a perpetual stride My son wanders in dreams at night My sister waits behind the moon My sister binds her mind in books My sister‘s voice must crush the sun My sister snaps the shepherd‘s crook My brother‘s face is a hexagon My brother revolves at increasing speed My brother heals as he harms My brother decries what he has decreed My mother excretes a reality My mother puts her torch to sleep My mother spreads her ribcage wide To guide the trumpet blast inside My father is my mother‘s bride My father resides in rocks and stones My father has fins and wings and claws My father is my husband‘s throne.

The Words A gown conceals a fist at rest The fist emits a straight soundbeam The beam supports a dome of flesh The flesh is a flag trampled and worn The flag suffers an emblem of waste The emblem embroidered by embryo fins The fins of the king wound in gauze The king is a costume worn by the queen The queen is a room without ceiling or floor The room is Infested with microphones The microphones wilt in a silent wave A wave of bliss driven by fear The fear is the hair on the skin of the soul The soul is a portion of wandering time The time espies a dormant gland The inert gland welcomes extinction The extinct the elect the chosen the true The truth regarding this sequence of words The wards the words the words the words The word is a gavel prowling the sea The sea greets the sewer with a perfect kiss The kiss embalmed for state display The state as defined by broken minds The mind a concentric mirror maze The mirror swirling begins to drain A drain sucking at its own remains There remains an echo migrating through space The echo draped in a bridal gown The gown reveals a fist of vapor The vapor fractures into alphabets The alphabets align to form the words The words the words the words the words The Way O the way you navigate the chain of days O the way your bloody bones hang suspended O the way that you rotate your world about you O the way you collapse into transparency O the way you guide and lead us when you are gone O the way you peel your words apart O the way you swim through yourself inside—out and down O the way your simulacrum waits around O the way you perforate our perception O the way you evolute and authoritize O the way you lie about the color of the sky O the way you triplicate and you trinitize O the way you crystallize in salt pit tombs O the way you swallow your head O the way you take human shape and walk on all fours O the way you distribute yourself in a tablet form From which you abstain Necrophones All Day and All Night Long Hey see say said Who saw what fled From far away To illustrate And to display That which has not Yet been seen but Nonetheless has Been sung aloud Above below Amongst the crowd Of holding hands And hearing ears That hear and hold As sounds unfold All day and all night long Sing slay invent Maim to maintain To raise to rise To float to fly To disappear And become clear Clearly we are here To see by the light Of a sun now dead And of a sun now gone Yet shining still All day and all night long Its tentacles Move synchronized To spread so thin As to enclose All space all time All life all mind All day and all night long Blue Sky Blue sky rise dawn Putrefied deep underground Blue sky turn around Your underside spread open wide Blue sky decompose The creeping sleep of surrender grows Blue sky divide the light Arrange the glow in even rows Blue sky emanate Occultify and revelate Blue sky say the name In a mob of clouds drunk with rain Blue sky expose your seam Knit together with elastic screams Blue sky pass through me I will pass through you if you allow me to Blue sky wax and wane Indulge in that from which you abstain Blue sky beautiful Abstain from that in which you indulge Hanging Bird Hanging bird hang on high and sway Celestial drug belt spin The epoch erased from history Standing by ready to begin Curled up defensive beneath the bridge Stay close together and follow the flame If we sleep we will surely forget But if we awake we must separate Execute the experiment Hanging bird hang on high and sway The message received and the message sent Scatter the ashes of patriot saints Splinter the door but be forewarned Your heart is its hinge and your brain is its knob And if it should open through strife and through strain O hanging bird hang on high and sway On the other side you will find All of the tears you never cried Organized according to Salinity and color and size Shapes in Space Shapes in space display their grace The mind entwines all sound in time All creeping things and those that sleep A cosmic carcass of pregnant eyes A line extends to intersect As points disperse to imply a plane Shapes arranged in the shape of space That we may harvest the name from the named The name gives shape to shapeless states This name was created that it may create Your skull is a tunnel, a passage-way Through which a world must emanate The name takes shape in signals and signs The form and the structure of creation align The name gathers shapes to its nameless breast Enthroned, embodied, blaspheming, and blessed Sex War Bow before the high orange cube Sex war relax sex war resume Until the repetitions cease The repetitions must increase The contents of our earthly tomb Released by an unstable peace Kneel before the tetrahedron Identify apex and base Round its corners form a cone Strike it gently hear the tone Its ringing voice counts aloud The layers of a sex war shroud Sex war in flux sex war complete The repetitions must increase kill you and you kill me Sex war bondage sex war freedom Freedom free the free from freedom Bring the sound to found the kingdom Come and tear your heart in half Feed your birds with tears and laughter After all the last hereafter Outlasts the everlasting past The password written on your veins Is masked by the hissing of the rain That falls when the password is announce From block to block and house to house Sex war sleep and sex war feed Sex war perfect a sex war creed Until the repetitions cease The repetitions must increase Established in the hearing heart That willingly is torn apart Cross Road Eternal Nightfall Occult Vibrations Wave your bag of blood It‘s flashing in the sun It‘s your new sex and sexuality A gentle war is on Your neck becomes jointed Like an elbow or a knee Oblongs of language Are all that you can see An army of plants and trees Gathers at the dawn They move as if rootless The random plan is drawn A noose of music swings A beacon shining for all For all that breathe to see The fulcrum of futility The sky is sucked away From the planetary orb When an will cease to spin So the inversion can begin And all that you can hold In your pockets and in your arms Is measured against you And digested by the stars The body in your bed Begins to hum apart Your friends and relatives Observe your moving scars When we are wed again When we are three once more Then we vanish again And then we seal the airtight door They had slime for mortar They had brick for atone The site where the building stood Now lies deserted and overgrown She has a million tongues He has ears for hands The tears from their embrace Will drown you where you stand Infinite Daybreak

Love is Love Love is love, in the shape things take Love is love, in the womb of wombs Love is love, at the highest height Love is love, at the deepest depths, alright Love is love, as the fallen fall Love is love, as the risen rise Love is love, in the sign of creation Love is love, in patterns of light Love is love, at the root of the brain Love is love, in the life of our life Love is love, in echoes through space Love is love, a vigil for this world Love is love, in the marrow of new bone Love is love, as above, so below Love is love, in the record of events Love must be love to the time begin Love is love, always reconciled Love is love, in wind and shade Love is love, alien and strange Love is love, in truth and falsehood This World To become a clown for this world To be crushed upon the tooth of this world To walk the wide way of this world And see what the signs say of this world To become a sphinx for this world Terrible and perfect for this world To diverst oneself of corpsedom on this world Incandescing infants on this world To become a song for this world To sing oneself alive again To cast aside the blanket of this world And shout: The sky is skull for all To memorize the verses of this world To contort in prayer for this world To exalt the alphabets of this world And emmerate the animal forms of this world To stand in silence at the treshold of this world To fling one's brain and body from this world To swing wide the gate of this world To sing oneself alive again Fearfully and Wonderfully Fearfully and wonderfully Rolling on the waters With wings of rainbow fire To carry the sky across the waters To place it in it's shrine As a song of warning and wonder Fearfully and wonderfully O, sing the sky out so Transpose the old and new in fear and wonder Stay near to hear the call in spirit and matter Holy holy Christ Beast Christ Beast bear your message About a God-form that's formless and forming in your baby, in your mind With wings like rainbow oars of fire Inscribing signs across the water Gently, gently upon the water Signs becoming what they signify By the dream-power of the truth-beast and it's kind It's a God-form that's formless and forming in your baby, in your mind Fearfully and wonderfully Shambling like living scripture Shining bands of color bond with number With wings like rainbow oars of fire folding To sing the sky out so: A God-form that's formless and forming in your baby, in your mind A God-form that's formless and forming in your baby, in your mind Hear the Children Sing What's taking form Is not a lifetime What's taking shape Is not a space-state What's circling Is not circular It's in the road Not yet ascended What's whispering Is not a rational mind It's in the meadow It won't walk to you What is Christic Can't be recognized What's streching out Is not the kingdom Hear the children sing: O, the devil is a flower Plucked from a cloud What's shrouded Is not mouldering What is written Never to be read aloud What's defiled Is not an environment What is raised Is not troubled It may be golden But not luminous The starer smiles The smiler stares What is marching Is not people Hear the children sing: O, the devil is a flower Plucked from a cloud What's gathering Is not a future plan What's coming into view Is not old or new Hear the children sing: O, the devil is a flower Plucked from a cloud Lay Yourself Aside Colored lights speak The scent upon the breeze Glowing numbers grow The birds arrive in threes The earth turns slower still In a Christful of empty space That the devil yearns to fill With an artifact of grace You extend your arm It's golden downy fur Sways like the beach grass Until the oceans pass away Pass up and out and far away Through halls of glass sarcophagi Through the pupil of lidless eye Through heavy blankets of gaseous sky O, lay yourself aside Sifting through the shifting sand Eyebrows scattered east and west Sucking stones on eroding thrones No hope of rest or going home The day as long as it is wide O, lay yourself aside Nation Saving Song Saving nations with a saving nation song Lost without a song in the abyss of song If I could match your beauty with this song If I could approach your beauty with this song A song-form like a horse-form heard as birdsong Destroying nations with a nation destroying song Don't turn from the searching eye of song To sing about wearing a clean garment of a song I will sing a song before I was born It will spring aloud before I was born in song Ring your brain with a garland of reality's song Preserving nations with a nation preserving song The apex of the age announced in song In fellowship we witness song with song Saving nations with a nation destroying song In discipleship we are joining song with song is rushing Rushing headlong A flock of one thousand One thousand perfect words Shining words Attend the perfect name The name shines On shining tongues The name as dewdrops To those who thirst They thirst in silence Silent telepathy The flock roams As one thing Flashing through time Decaying in grace Wandering Slayin by time's grace The name waits No false suns rise No false suns rise Peace Mountains of Peace I know one day we shall rest It will be our time to last Do you bring news of a future age? A future age when we shall rest Veiled only by the wilderness Will you keep your shape for long enough at least To establish peace mountains of peace A peace wrought in the navel of desolation A beacon for total immediate revolution Thusly the galaxy stirs and harmonies multiply Thusly the galaxy stirs Will you shape your keep for at least as long To sing news in future forms of song Will you keep your shape for long enough at least To establish peace mountains of peace Child of Chaos Won't you please walk with me For part of the way A solemn egg of death Rolling on the road In a box beneath the bed A golden hand Lovers exhausted from love In true love renewed The veil rent in twain Open the graves A particle of war Slips under the door Won't you please stay with me Until you must return They said this day would come It has come and gone The trees bear flesh from seed The soil heaves Shadows of birds in flight Dapple your face at twilight Won't you please carry me Carry me down All fear congeals in a mound It does not make a sound No music to be found

All Creation Bows Every surface is reflecting Every line is intersecting The melody is permutating Every form attends the wedding When now we are - We are the same Unique and alone in our solitude Our names pronounced - Pronounced the same You were long before you were tall When you shape cast no shadow at all All creation - all creation bows The orientation of the multitude In relation to the multitude Within the heart - the heart of the brain Beyond the brain - the brain of the heart All creation - all creation bows Circling the evolute All reality bows to reality now Spiraling the involute Albino trees with scarlet wings Bloom to express a soular cross of flesh From which a cross of speech must spring All creation - all creation bows Time is a Weapon of Time You are set apart from me It's true I was removed from you Yet I'm reminded to remember you To remember you encompass me With infinite concentricity In layers deep, in layers wide In a kaleidophone of singing light Beneath our feet our children sleep Centermost in the realm of dreams Sweethearts known that long ago Time was a weapon of time The wise can show that long ago is now I see you were removed from me I see my sight relayed from you You must return before you leave Hand in hand we precisely greet Where the lintel and the threshold meet No-one is home if someone is here In a shallow pool a body takes shape Its brain grows larger than the world The cosmic axis for its throne The children stir - the dream recedes They are centermost in their waking state The central point of the triumphal age Age devours the prior age Like rival birds of parallel power Engulfing one and then the other The great gospel makes it so Sweethearts know that long ago Time is a weapon of time The wise can show that long ago is now Soon I will have passed through it Through layers of depth wider than light In a shallow stream a body dissolves Its animal song moves it along Seeking its level it creeps toward the dawn As the dawn must welcome the dawn Sweethearts know that long ago Time is/was a weapon of time The wise can show that long ago is now Wailing like Dragons Wailing like dragons Mourning like owls As wise as serpents As harmless as doves Take a form Your skeleton is walking Take a shape Walking across the ocean Come along An ocean of liquid life-song Come and see The word aflame in a nest of names Rise anew To welcome what approaches you Stand and sing Until your skull begins to ring Resonate Love is light is sound is space Be not afraid Bid farewell to what retreats Come and see Lost in your perfect mystery You Are the War You are the winged wrist of the sun disk You are the first child of ancient slime You are the figures traced in the dust You are the unknown in which we must trust You are the way without direction You are a window on the abyss You are the power of vision and all that is seen You are awakening to consciousness You are a tree bearing news of good fruit You are the winding, the winding of the mammalian root You are the I-am-that-I-am you are You are the bright and the morning star You are the wellspring of untamed light You are a song-form forming at night You are the primitive and universal alphabet You are a chain of worlds bound in time Way-Out is the Way Out To have you I must lose you To hold you I must vanish from you To see you again I must see nothing more For me to say the way I must walk the way For me to be the way I must pray the way To somehow rise anew From this mirrored egg To somehow stand and sing Upon these phantom legs Adrift in the bowels of the lord The great name that names it all Your promise sealed in light This world your hypnotic calling Calling to us all To make it right with you I must split my brain Bury half in the dirt And cast half in the sea Pass away in the truth Sing Sing created creatures Sing across golden skies Sing across silver waters Sing holy streams of lost light Sing death waits in ambush Like a song-thought in your mind Sing of love as lovers sing Sing anything in the midst of everything Sing with each footfall Sing the path of song Sing to the trees they are listening Sing out the rays of the dawn Sing until you see a song-shape Sing in the hail and in the snow Sing until you break your own heart Sing from the blood and from the bone Sing a lost civilization Sing from the skin and from the hair Sing atop slender stilts of song Sing columns of perfumed air Sing a devouring fire Sing a blinding fog Sing the promise of the new wheel Sing a vow to keep song Sweet Nucleus O Lord if you are here We shall not fear We shall move through And stay near to you Near to your nucleus Near to your nebulousness To choose the labyrinth Or choose the abyss To choose the mirror Or choose nothingness To choose to intone thy name With all our human frame Or choose to remain Near to your sheltering voice Near to your motherly mask Near to your fountain clear Near to your lunar peaks O Lord if you are everywhere We shall not despair With this word we bless The shape of emptinesses So near to within you So near to without you So near to beyond you So near to identical to you Near to your murderous beak Near to your weeping breast Near to your expanse of dust Near to all extinction Our blood like a wellspring Rushing and gurgling Singing with whispering Our song is our sacrifice O Lord if you are nowhere We shall increase Our search to seek To see what no eye can see
