The history of chocolate and its origin. Types of chocolate and its uses. Myths and truths about chocolate. Alexa's specials for special occasions. Chocolate Benefits

The history of chocolate and its origin It was more than 3000 years ago when the indigenous people of Central America created it accidentally. These indigenous people made beer with the pods of cocoa beans, a superfood that we already told you about here. In 1100 BC, this beer was very popular. According to the traces found, it can be deduced that it was a very bitter drink, but very consumed. Around 800 BC, several generations later, the indigenous people decided to use their own seeds to make something different. As they did with beer, they decided to ferment the seeds to create a different drink. The result was an intensely flavored drink that was quickly consumed almost daily. It is curious that in Honduras this chocolate was served in large jugs, of which archaeological remains have been found, as a regular drink in special celebrations. In addition, they used to filter the result to obtain an original version of the hot chocolate that we know today.

Later, they managed to perfect the result until they found the recipe to taste it in a similar way to how we do it today. It was in Mexico, thanks to the Mayan culture, when tchocolatl (Mayan name) became a food of daily use thanks, in part, to the cacao tree that the god Quetzalcoatl made for men.

In addition, they were the first to mix it with other ingredients, such as chili, thus creating various specialties and flavors. Legend has it that Christopher Columbus was greeted with cocoa beans by the Aztecs. It is important to remember that the conquerors were seen almost as deities, so the value of those seeds was soon recognized.

Types of chocolate and its uses... Dark chocolate This is the name of the purest of all. Contains butter and cocoa paste. It can be flavored with different spices. The percentage of cocoa contained in each tablet is usually specified. From 55%, the quality is optimal, and the flavor grows with a greater amount of cocoa. Milk chocolate For many it is the most maligned, but despising it is a gross error. A dairy is added to the elaboration explained above to soften the final result. However, there is milk chocolate with a percentage of cocoa greater than 60%, so its flavor can also be powerful and suitable for the most demanding. White chocolate It is well known although it is not actually considered chocolate since it does not contain cocoa paste. It is mainly made up of cocoa butter, milk, and sugar. It is one of the sweetest versions of chocolate and is more like a candy. Filled chocolate The pasta is made in the familiar way. It is filled with all kinds of light creams that provide different flavors. In general, the use of fruits, nuts or different spices stands out. If the coating is dark chocolate, its consumption generates very interesting taste sensations as far as contrasts are concerned. Hot chocolate It is made like dark chocolate, but it is taken into account that it has a just density so that it can be melted in milk or water. It is important to read the content very well and always bet on the one that contains the most cocoa and the least additives.
