INVESTOR PACK 2018

Why crowdfunding? • Womenswear label, ALEXANDRA ZVI, is aiming to ethically produce a collection to show at New York Fashion Week in February 2018. • We need to create and manufacture our next collection, however, being an independent label, we do not have the finances for the manufacturing processes with an ethical manufacturing factory. • By raising funds via Indiegogo.com, we at ALEXANDRA ZVI will have stock for our online store and boutiques across the world. • Being an ethical clothing brand, it is imperative that we at ALEXANDRA ZVI ethically produce this collection to show at New York Fashion Week to shine a light on human trafficking and modern slavery.

Who is ALEXANDRA ZVI? • Alexandra was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, in northeast England and is now based in Melbourne, Australia. She has been designing, and producing fashion for the past 20 years and has been compared to fellow British designer and couturier Alexander McQueen. • Inspired by years working in fashion and costume, she caters to women who appreciate style and dare to be the center of attention. With an eye for detail, her designs are feminine, romantic and elegantly proportioned. • Related to White Chapel tailors, Alexandra always knew that she was going to be a Fashion Designer. Perhaps it’s in her genes! As a little girl, Alexandra was contently occupied by making clothes for her dolls. Everything she did was working towards the life of a designer. Designing is what drives and fulfills Alexandra, bringing a sense of peace. She says “there isn’t anything better than practically creating the ideas that swim around in my head.”

Who is ALEXANDRA ZVI? • As a fan of French designer, Christian Lacroix, Alexandra says “his fearless ability to design what he saw, without necessarily being on trend is what truly inspires me as a designer”.

Our Story • Alexandra has not only been a fashion designer, but also a stylist, textiles artist, costume designer and seamstress in theatre, television and film, as well as a design teacher. • She founded ALEXANDRA ZVI in 2012 with a simple vision to design womenswear. • Her mission was to create a classic, fashion forward label that attracts customers seeking quality and timeless pieces. • In 2017, she decided to make her label 'ethical', after watching a video by STOP THE TRAFFIK on YouTube. It was about the Southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, which produces most of the world's cotton knit fabrics. This is when she discovered that there are more than 300,000 young women trapped in the Sumangali labour scheme. • Alexandra began to sob uncontrollably, as she learnt about girls as young as 11 being lured with the false promise of a lump sum payment, used as a dowry. She was heartbroken to discover that the families, who are usually from poor and rural villages, agree to this believing that their daughter's virtue will be protected, but sadly they are at risk of being sexually abused and not being paid!

Our Story • Later in 2017, Alexandra shifted her aesthetic from costume to ‘wearable’ fashion, and changed her business model to make a social change. • As a fashion designer, Alexandra committed to crafting timeless designs, however, as a human rights advocate, she became 100% devoted to show the world her compassion for those who make beautiful clothes within the fashion industry. • Alexandra feels as if it is her duty to speak up and encourage consumers to shop socially responsible and environmentally friendly styles, rather than fast and cheap fashion.

Why ’ethical’? • The textile and fashion industry plays a major role all over the world and is considered to be the second most polluting industry worldwide because it causes negative impacts on people. • No matter where we live, this problem exists everywhere around the world. As compassionate human beings, we must stand together and advocate for those who are victims of modern slavery. It's our responsibility to change this current system and to make a positive impact on our world. • Although there are methods such as codes of conduct and inspections in place; somehow fashion retailers have failed to pay a living wage to workers, have accepted child labour, have misused human rights and asserted minimum labour standards in the workplace. This may have even happened when factories have claimed to produce "ethically" but failed to do so. • We want to overcome these hurdles by choosing the right factory that abides fair trade practices, so we are partnering with STOP THE TRAFFIK to find suitable manufactures in India. Even if we have to physically visit these factories and meet the workers, we want to ensure that the people who are producing for ALEXANDRA ZVI are well rewarded and living a great life.

Our Mission • Our mission is to produce ethical fashion specifically tackling the social and commercial issues. • We aim to attract fashion consumers to shop ethically at ALEXANDRA ZVI’s online store (www.AlexandraZvi.com), with 10% of the profits donated to STOP THE TRAFFIK (www.stopthetraffik.com.au), an organization whose mission is to prevent, disrupt and abolish human trafficking and modern slavery. • Through ALEXANDRA ZVI (the label), our mission is to make a difference within the fashion industry. • Our goal is to stop the human trafficking and the modern slavery which still exist today in manufacturing clothing.

Our Vision • In 2017, ALEXANDRA ZVI’s aesthetic shifted to ‘wearable’ fashion, and we applied a philanthropic business model where our focus was not just about making a profit, but is was about contributing to social change. • Our vision is to donate10% of our profits to STOP THE TRAFFIK (www.stopthetraffik.com.au), an organization whose mission is to prevent, disrupt and abolish human trafficking and modern slavery. • Our goal is to drive online traffic to our ecommerce store (www.AlexandraZvi.com) and also offer our customers a ‘pop-up’ store experience, internationally. • ALEXANDRA ZVI has also partnered with United Nations and has raised funds for other ‘human rights’ causes. • As a fashion designer, Alexandra is committed to crafting timeless designs, however, as a human rights advocate, she is 100% devoted to show the world her compassion for those who make beautiful clothes within the fashion industry. • Through ALEXANDRA ZVI (the label), her vision is to make a difference within the fashion industry.

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK 2019 • In early 2018, ALEXANDRA ZVI’s new and improved Instagram profile was noticed by Planet Fashion TV, who later formally invited ALEXANDRA ZVI to show at their New York Fashion Week show in February 2019. • With the label’s limited funds, it has been challenging to design and manufacture a new collection for New York Fashion Week. • In 2012, New York Fashion Week’s financial impact was a net of approximately $466 million in direct visitor spending leading to a further $773 million in economic impact. • With a dream to step onto such a prestigious international platform, we hope to use this opportunity to not only push the fashion label, but to shine a light on human trafficking and the modern slavery.

The risks… •

Running an "ethical" fashion business can be an expensive business to run. This means that we will continue to struggle financially, since our label does not have millions of dollars of backing to achieve our mission. We will face challenges with lack of resources to produce and to market the label so that it is an internationally recognized brand.

Currently, we struggle to attract consumers who want to shop socially responsibly and who are aware of this global issue. This means that we will need to work even harder and be more creative than our competitors just to design clothes that break the stigma around "ethical" fashion being 'unfashionable' and unappealing.

Because the whole fashion industry is accused of paying low wages, it is challenging finding a reputable 'ethical' manufacturer, however, we stay determined to find the perfect ‘ethical’ manufacturers for ALEXANDRA ZVI.
