Alexandria Heidner Journal #4 Forecasting Future Trends May 7, 2014
Every year we look forward to upcoming seasons and new trends to fill our closets with. Fall is always my favorite because it is the perfect blend of my favorite clothes. This past winter it was oversized everything and I don't see that changing much, but I do think it will be much more casual. I see it being a very laid back fall and winter with simple patterns and colors. I think it will be well-constructed pieces that still capture your figure but feel more comfortable while still being wearable. The second trend is nothing new, but I think we will see more of it. Length has been a big trend this year, whether it is a long t-shirt or kimono to the floor, so I do not see that changing for fall and winter, as coats become a necessity. I think long coats will definitely be a trend, to your knees and to your ankles. The final trend has been very popular as of late known as bohemian or festival wear. I think they will find ways to incorporate this into our fall/winter fashion. On the runway they showed a western feel using blanket coats, ponchos, checks and even wide-brimmed hats. I guess only time will tell what we will start seeing in the stores once fall rolls around, but I am perfectly happy in sundresses and shorts for now!
