Admission/parking/booking Admission and coach parking are free. Underground tours are free if booked on arrival. However, as they tend to book up quickly, especially during busy periods, groups are advised to make a pre-booking as far in advance as possible. For groups booking to visit during the school holidays there is a booking fee of £20. At all other times no fee is charged. A small refundable charge is made for all visitors going underground, please see overleaf for details in ‘Underground Checks’. Cancellation of Bookings Due to staff costs, any visit cancelled with less than 7 days’ notice will incur a cancellation fee of £30. In the event of a cancellation with more than 7 days’ notice, no fee is payable. Access Although the Museum occupies a large, former industrial site, every effort has been made to provide maximum access for visitors with disabilities. Wheelchairs can be accommodated on the Underground Tour but, for safety reasons, this is limited to two per tour. If your group includes members with disabilities, please call in advance to discuss any specific requirements.

Group services/ facilities Arrival/coach drivers For pre-booked groups a meet & greet service is available. Coach drivers receive a free drinks voucher and, if you book a catering package for a minimum of 10 people, we also offer a free meal voucher for your driver. Talks and Tours You may choose to explore the Museum independently, but we also offer a number of tailored talks, tours and demonstrations for pre-booked groups. One of these lively sessions, led by our curators, guides or living history interpreters, can be a great introduction to the Museum, tailored to fit the time you’ve got available, or as a way of digging deeper into a particular aspect of the Museum or a subject that’s of interest to your group. For information on suggested visits/themes, please see/request our ‘Group Talks and Tours’ brochure, or visit www.ncm.org.uk/groups to read or download it. Underground Tours Underground tours are in parties of up to 19 people plus a guide. Our staff will divide your party at the Museum. If your party consists mainly of children there should be at least 2 adults with each group of 17 children. We provide a safety helmet, battery and light for each visitor. The temperature underground is 12°C (55°F); we recommend warm practical clothing and sensible shoes. Please note: children under 5 years old are not permitted underground. Underground tour notes are available in Chinese, French, German, Spanish and Urdu. Underground Checks All visitors who take part in an Underground Tour are required to purchase a check (cost £2).This enables us to track who is underground at any given time. After your tour your £2 fee will be refunded or you can keep your check as a souvenir of your visit and the money will be used towards the running costs of the Museum.
