St Mary’s Secret Garden Project Brief
Design Solution
The Project was located in Hackney, London. The Garden was run by charities and other nonprofit organisations. As the garden grew in popularity, more spaces are needed in order to provide projects including horticultural education, therapeutical sessions and other services for students and the community.
To allow the Garden to run more efficiently. I designed two sperate building to handle different services. The Garden shop would be located at north east end of the garden this allow shoppers to have an easy access from the main road, and also give visitors a good view into the garden, students could also prepare themselves. The second building would be where most activities could be held, it allows students to enjoy preparing plants and other horticultural activities.

The problem with the existing building is victors often missed the shop and the garden office, therefor people often don’t understand what is the garden for.
I have relocate the shop changing room and the office , at the front of the garden. So victors could be attracted from the street and they could first learn about the garden before they enters. Changing room, shop and office
?? Why this site ??

Room of it’s own Project Brief The Project was located at Old Kent Road, South East London. A historic Roman road which ran from Dover (South East England) to Holyhead (West Wales). The task was to find a place at Old Kent Road to build a room which able to accommodate your self and the room could not be larger than 25 square metres.
Light Weight Structure Toilet
Design Solution I have chosen to build on top of a supermarket name ASDA, the reason been is because I felt the location is well located with plenty of shops around and a good transport links it also used up free spaces with in the city, which I think was a good idea at the time. As I started to develop my idea, I felt there was an opportunity to build a series of rooms similar to this room so others could enjoy the spaces on top of a supermarket. The other benefits of building in a higher density, is to increase its energy efficiency and use up the heat which escapes from the large roof top of the existing building.
Study Area
The material used for this room would be similar to the material used on the supermarket, which is a light weight steel structure with steel and glass panels. The reason for this approach is to keep the overall language of the existing building.

Women Refuge
Section B.B Section B.B
Project Brief This Project was also located at Old Kent Road, the brief was to build a women refuge for the community, it would be a short term home for those women who are in need of a shelter, or just wanted times away from home. This would be the place where women in the neighbourhood could gather and share their problems. be larger than 25 square metres.

Design Solution The building would provided a place for women who are hurt by domestic violence. The refuge would give them and their children’s a place to heal and also to learn new skills. This is why I have located the cafe and a laundry shop at the ground floor. Rooms and backup house for the shops below are located at the first and second floor. The kitchens and the backup house is not on the ground floor is because I wanted new comers could learn from the more experience house mates, creating an atmosphere of a home. A home that would allow them to heal and to learn new skills so hopefully they could have a speedy recovery and return to the community.

Green space, Access & Set back
Blend in
Our site is located at Newham East London, it is veryclose to the 2012 Olympic Park. The site also has an excellent public transport link since the is in between Bromley by bow and Westham underground station. With the A11 (High Street) and A12 (Blackwall Tunnel Northern Approach)running North and west side of the site, it provided the site with great vehicle access connecting central London and Straford.

This section drawing is to show the relationship of the site and its context. It compares the residential area inside the site and the newly build residential area outside the site, although most of the buildings in this section are all residential buildings, there are still a strong contracts in terms of building height and building mass with the majority of buildings in our site at 2 to 3 storeys high, this create a strong contrasts when you see on the other side of the Green way we see a 41 storeys high residential buildings reaching up to 139 meters.

Design Solution In the design of the facade of the restaurant I have used only a few materials to highlight the interlocking building mass which was the key expect to the overall design of this restaurant.
