Hemorrhoids And Long Trips If you suffer from hemorrhoids and are planning on taking a long trip, you might want to read this article. It very well may save you some pain and embarrassment. Some of this information applies to stay-overs and some applies to day trips as well. Yes, sometimes just going away for the day can be a real pain. I am speaking as a former hemorrhoid sufferer. For starters, it doesn't matter if you're traveling by car, train, bus, plane or whatever. However you travel, you're going to be sitting for a long period of time. If you have hemorrhoids, especially of the external kind, this can be very painful after a while. Imagine sitting for 4 to 6 hours in a car or even on a plane. And don't even get me started on bus and train rides. So the first thing you want to do is bring something to sit on that will make sitting as comfortable as possible. There are several options here. One is a donut so that your rear end isn't actually touching anything. This can be a little uncomfortable for your thighs depending on how hard the donut is, but nowhere near as uncomfortable as sitting on your backside for hours on end. Of course if the donut doesn't work for you, you could bring a pillow or cushion. Make sure it's firm enough for support but comfortable enough to sit on. If the pillow is too soft it won't give you enough support and you'll essentially just be sitting on the hard seat beneath it. Another option is a specially made cushion. Personally, I have found them to be more uncomfortable than the pillow. Your mileage may vary. The next thing you want to do, unless you're driving, in which case you'll have enough to keep you busy, is bring something to do, like a puzzle or book to read. Oddly enough, this helps keep your mind off of your discomfort. If the mind is busy, it sometimes forgets that it's in pain. A doctor once told me that a lot of our pains would go away if we simply didn't fixate on them. I'd go into more detail on this but then I'd really be going off on a tangent. Just make sure you're not dwelling on your pain while you're traveling. As far as where you're going, assuming it's a day trip, you probably aren't bringing anything like luggage. One thing you do want to bring with you is a change of underwear. If you suffer from bleeding hemorrhoids there is always a chance that, after a bowel movement, you can have an accident. I have had my share of them. The last thing you want is to be walking around with bloody underpants all day. So do yourself a favor and bring a change of underwear.
Hemorrhoids And Long Trips You will also want to bring with you such items as wipes. When you have hemorrhoids, you don't want to wipe yourself with the cheap, hard toilet paper that most establishments carry. So bring your own wipes. They should be pre moistened. In fact, you should use these all the time. Finally, if somebody notices some of these little oddities, don't be self conscious. Lots of people have their little things that they have to live with; people with walkers or even in wheelchairs. Well, this is your little thing that you have to live with and you need to do whatever you can to make it as bearable as possible. Besides, I know what you're going through. I suffered with external stage 4 hemorrhoids for over 10 years. It took me that long to finally put an end to my suffering. You can read my story in a free report that's available in my signature.
