LOCALS & OUTSIDERS

In the piece of land full of traces, there are two different parties of people. The "local" that will tell you the story back in the past and the "Outsiders" that are exploring and in the process of building new Brickfields.

JOURNEY OF PSYCHOGEOGRAPHY

From Batu Limabelas in the past to the Brickfields today, Brickfields portrait an first impression of the Little India. Bricks pavement, heavy traffic and Indian delights sums up my first impression of Brickfields

TRACES

Traces from both parties involve physical and emotions.

Physical traces in explanation of texture and visual.

Emotional traces in explanation of feelings and expressing

THE BEGINNING

Main access to the Brickkiln in the past

SURVIVE

Signage board, high and low grabbing attention from passersby hoping to be seen. Not to be at the same level as the mall opposite, but to make a living

OUTSIDERS

In the position of outsiders, walking in a fast paste, rushing to where they should be, focusing on repeating what they are doing everyday. High tension in an unhealthy environment, with no social interaction

CHALLENGES

Sense of urgent, following up the speed of others. Comparing oneself to others, hesitating to made own decision.

UNSEEN

Senses such as sounds, one of the traces that gather people around or separate people from each other

TRACES OF THE FORGOTTEN

In one of the busiest towns in Malaysia, the locals are the victims of necessary development. After contributing to building the town, they are forced to stay in a congested environment.

REALIZATION

Following the traces created by the urbanisation, it can be seen that both local and outsiders are affected. It can be seen that a new journey focusing on healing can begin on you and yourself

Recovering / restoring , putting yourself in a healthy mind state before helping other Empowerment

FOLDED UNDISCORVER TRACES

Traces from the outsiders, documenting traces throughout the journey of psychogeography during the site visit

TRACES OVERLAYED

Overlapping traces from the present with the past, creating the sense of balance in order to enhance Brickfields. The balance allow the locals to gain more freedom and sense of belonging while the outsiders are interested to explore Brickfields

TRACES

Various traces created or left behind in Brickfields leads to Brickfields identity. What is Brickfields to everyone? Locals not being able to portrait Brickfields identity due to rapid development. Outsiders not being also to understand
