Multifamily Complex CU

Final Degree Project: Architecture

Creating a connection between CETRAM Universidad and the nearby neighborhoods is the goal of this MultiFamiliy Complex Project.

Firstly I have made an urban study to understand how the city works and which was going to be the best strategy for developing the Multifamily Complex and provide a better public and transit space in the current conflictive lot.

The project is mainly designed to be used by the university comunity from Universidad Nacional Autonoma de México, such as professionals or families.

The apartments have been designed for having natual illumination and ventilation and responding to the sunlight study of the lot.

All the apartments have open spaces and a flexible studio area that can become in the most adeccuate space regard to the user’s requirements.

Finally each apartment has its own privacy in terms of main entrance and views. There is a zoning where the common spaces are separated from the bedrooms and having the kitchen and bathrooms on a specific area for the plumbing installations.

Once the architectural project is done, with the support of Revit Structure, I work on the structural proposal of the building.

For this case, I proposed the use of a metallic structure with moment frames, taking advantage of the design module that I used for the architectural design. This allows to get a high-rise lightweight structure.

Due to the conditions of the land, the architectural project and the structure, I can propose a foundation called “cajon de cimentacion”

The last stage of my final degree project focuses on developing the design proposal for the basic plumbing and electrical installations

I have prepared the proposals through Revit MEP software which allowed me to verify the correct design of the plumbing lines and electrical ones.

The client wanted to convert their current one story single family dwelling into a two stories one, with master bedrooms in the first floor.

I have prepared different layouts and one of the most important design criteria is having a vaulted ceiling space in the common areas (living and dining rooms) and providing all the bedrooms with the same area, privacity and natural illumination.

Architecture should speak of its time and place, but yearn for timelessness.

For the architectural proposal the idea was separate the private rooms from the common areas try to concentrate all the plumbing installations in the center zone of the building.

Competitions

Structural models

From Mexico to Spain

2016 to 2018

During my school career I was active in participating in competitions for structural models. These models usually were subjected to gravitational loads and their resistence against their own weight was analyzed.

These competitions have also promoved the creativity during the design process and the team work to share ideas and knowledges.
