intro
I am a very hands-on designer, always looking for fun and unusual ways to bring my designs to life. Some would say that I am a perfectionist, but I find that my meticulous eye for design comes through in my work.
LIMEWIRE
project 1
YEAR COMPLETED 2020 CATEGORIES Identity Print Web Visual System KIND OF PROJECT Brand Design
DESCRIPTION Limewire is a discontinued peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing program known for its use to illegally download music and other forms of media. This project revives the brand while keeping focus on Limewire's brand soul, infinite peer-to-peer sharing. CONCEPT/DESIGN GOALS I wanted to create a dark and mysterious visual system, targeting a more mature audience and leaving room for interpretation. The brand strategy introduces Limewire and its history, where the brand guidelines transitions to the new brand and brand extensions.

YEAR COMPLETED 2019 CATEGORIES UX Design Visual Identity KIND OF PROJECT App Design Branding Environmental Design
DESCRIPTION Identify a problem in society and use graphic design to create a brand around solving the issue. CONCEPT/DESIGN GOALS I addressed the increasing issue that there are not enough foster parents to accomodate children in the foster care system. I aimed to make the design bold, yet simple enough for the audience to understand. I designed an event for prospective foster parents to provide information so that people are encouraged to begin the application process on that day. I also designed a catalog where foster youth are able to pick clothing items they may need. My final deliverable is an app where foster parents can keep track of their child’s calendar and personal information.

YEAR COMPLETED 2019 CATEGORIES UX/UI KIND OF PROJECT Web Design
DESCRIPTION Redesign a local cafe’s website while utilizing UX principles to create a responsive, user-friendly interface. CONCEPT/DESIGN GOALS Cahoots did not have a website to begin with, so I was excited to get to start from scratch. I frequent the cafe, so I was familiar with the welcoming, country aesthetic. My goal for the website was to keep the warm tones used in the cafe, but not give it a complete “country western” design. Cahoots is a hidden gem when it comes to their milkshakes. The staff are always experimenting with new flavors, so I designed a “milkshake of the week” area on the page so the user can stay up-to-date. When talking to the manager, she mentioned that their phones are always being held up with people asking what the specials are. My solution was to design a page on the website with their daily special.

YEAR COMPLETED 2019 CATEGORIES Book Design KIND OF PROJECT Editorial Design
DESCRIPTION Listen to a podcast and create a small book, using the transcript to visually tell the story of the chosen podcast. CONCEPT/DESIGN GOALS The podcast I chose was about how a woman kept receiving mysterious postcards dating back to the 1930s. I wanted to keep the chapbook suspensful and give it an antique-look. To make the book look older, I applied an aged-paper background. I used handlettering and graphics of stamps to make it look like an actual postcard. Lastly, I saddle stitched the book by hand with red string.

ADOPT A CAT
YEAR COMPLETED 2018 CATEGORIES Print Design Web Design KIND OF PROJECT Marketing Branding
DESCRIPTION Find a poorly designed flyer in my area and develop three engaging deliverables based on the information from the original flyer. CONCEPT/DESIGN GOALS The flyer I chose was for a cat adoption event held by the local animal shelter. The flyer originally had a simple clip art image of a cat. I decided to use photos of cats in one of my deliverables so the audience can put a face to the description.

BARBARA SOLOMON
YEAR COMPLETED 2019 CATEGORIES Print Design Environmental Design KIND OF PROJECT Branding Identity Wayfinding
DESCRIPTION Visit a local art exhibit and create a printed narrative and environmental wayfinding inspired by the chosen artist. CONCEPT/DESIGN GOALS The exhibit I attended was The Sea Ranch by Barbara Stauffacher Solomon at SFMOMA. I was immediately drawn to Solomon’s well-known use of supergraphics, which are large graphics applied with vibrant colors, usually bold or in geometric shapes. My goal for this design was to incorporate supergraphics into my narrative and environmental branding. Using multiple colors, I used bold lines, dots and circles as a part of my visual system. To establish hierarchy, I set the headings in pink at a large scale over the body copy. I designed two large-scale wall graphics for inside and outside of the museum, outdoor banners, as well as elevator and floor wayfinding.
