By Mariana Giovanna Andrade Rojas If you are lost in Beijing, you do not have to worry. Beijing is a big city and its inhabitants are very kind to foreigners. Even some people could use English to communicate, therefore you can speak English to explain them your situation, and they nicely will help you to find your way. Beijing is a northern city, and they make use of the cardinal points to give directions, they usually point the direction and say: “Please walk to the west around one hundred meters, then walk to the north”, they do not say: “Please walk straight ahead around one hundred meters, then turn left”. Except the inhabitants of Beijing, the rest of the Chinese population will give directions to the foreigners as any other part of the world. Other option you can consider is to buy a map of the area while you become familiar with Beijing. Anyway, the people walking on the street can help you to find the place you are looking for, also you can ask directions to the policemen, they know very well their areas and environments. If you will go by subway, you can ask the subway workers for help. Besides, taxi drivers can also help you. In addition, the Beijing people is not used to

utilize the streets name as place’s reference, so when you go out pay attention to big buildings or significant symbols, other way you can get lost. Mariana Giovanna Andrade is a BBA student. Comments: mgabest@hotmail.com
The desk clerk offered to take them all the way to Frankfurt after having seen their frustration and their destination. He wanted to explain how he knew them. Already in the car, Oliver and Rachel were anxiously waiting for answers. “I can’t believe you don’t remember coming here at all!” the desk clerk exclaimed “I remember coming here with my family, but I don’t remember you or anything out of the ordinary. Anyway, do you know what all this is? What is it for? And who gave you that matchbox?” Rachel asked desperately. “Calm down my dear, one question at a time. Good thing you remember coming here. You were only a child when the Visconti’s and the Brissac’s came here on vacation. I used to be there every time. As to your other question, an old man – he didn’t say his name—gave me the matchbox. Although I do recognize him, he used to be with your families every time they came.” He explained. “Do you know why he was there with us?” Oliver asked. “Well, not really, I never meddled into the guests’ private lives; although I do recall seeing them always laughing, having a good time. He seemed very close to them” He finished. After having no more answers for them, Joaquin, the desk clerk from Zaragoza’s Hotel, kept on driving while Oliver and Rachel had fallen asleep. An hour later they arrived to the Savoy
Hotel in Frankfurt. “Here you go. I hope I was of help to you. Stay safe, and do try to be a bit more patient, things will come out for the best, I know it. Take care” Joaquin said as he took their luggage out of the trunk and waved good bye. “You know the drill, we ask for him, though I don’t think he’ll be there” Oliver sighed. He was right. No one had ever heard or seen Ben Hoskins. So, once again, they went out to explore the city. This time they went shopping. Rachel wasn’t prepared for the cooler weather in this city. So, they went to Zeilgalerie. Oliver also bought a few items. Then they went to Frankfurt Hoch 4 to see the great view of the city. Right there on the edge, Rachel found a keychain on the ground. It had the letters RVOBFE engraved on the side. She showed it to Oliver and asked around in case anybody had let it drop by accident. Nobody responded. So they decided to keep it, maybe it would be of some use. Days passed and they were starting to really see and enjoy the city. No Ben Hoskins to worry about. One day, they decided to go have dinner to a fancy restaurant. With all the rush, they hadn’t had a chance to have a proper meal. So they went to Borussia, a German food restaurant. Once they sat down and starting having their meal, Hoskins appeared. This time, they weren’t so surprised. “What now Hoskins? Are you sending us to Timbuktu?” Oliver teased just as Hoskins smiled and dropped the next one: “Jolly Vivaldi, Berlin”. To be continued…
