The month of June will bring an array of highly anticipated upcoming film releases to fruition. The Hero, an upcoming film release that hits theatres on June 9th, chronicles former Western film icon Lee Hayden’s life after an unexpected cancer diagnosis shakes up his world. Hayden (Sam Elliot) had been spending his days reminiscing about the past and smoking marijuana with his former co-star (and current drug dealer) Jeremy (Nick Offerman). Learning of his diagnosis, however, served as a catalyst for Hayden to re-evaluate his life and priorities. At the top of the list? Reconnecting with his estranged daughter, Lucy (Krysten Ritter). All the while, Hayden begins an enthralling new relationship with a younger woman, Charlotte, (Laura Prepon) and searches for one final role to conclude his career with.
June 9th yields yet another upcoming film release, Beatriz at Dinner. The film stars Salma Hayek as Beatriz, an immigrant from Mexico who has established a career as a naturalistic health practitioner in Los Angeles. When she attends a dinner party at the home of one of her clients (Connie Britton), she meets ruthless billionaire Doug Strutt (John Lithgow). Tension is generated between the two upon their first encounter when he mistakes her for being a part of the home’s “staff.” Throughout the evening the two clash on a myriad of topics, their conversations opening the eyes and minds of everyone seated at the dining room table.
Rough Night, a long-awaited upcoming film release, hits theatres on June 16th. Rough Night follows a group of college friends (featuring an ensemble cast of Kate McKinnon, Zoe Kravitz, Scarlett Johansson, Ilana Glazer, and Jillian Bell) as they hit the beaches and bars of Miami for
a bachelorette weekend in honor of Jess’s (Johansson) upcoming wedding. However, the festivities take a grim turn when the group accidentally kills a male stripper, inciting instant pandemonium.
Baby Driver, an upcoming film release coming to theatres on June 28th, stars Ansel Elgort as the title character of Baby. Baby is a talented, young getaway driver who listens to his own music library on the job as a way to achieve success. Baby considers leaving the world of crime behind when he meets and begins to develop feelings for Deborah (Lily James)-until he is pressured into working for a powerful crime boss (Kevin Spacey) on an ill-fated heist that leaves everything in his life to chance.
