IN GERMANIC MYTHOLOGY, NEHALENNIA MEANS "GODDESS OF THE SEA", THE CHOICE OF THE PROJECT'S NAME WAS A SYMBOLIC HOMAGE. THE PROJECT WAS DEVELOPED FROM THE CONTEXT OF A POSSIBLE FUTURISTIC CITY WHERE EVERYTHING WAS DOMINATED BY WATER. IN THE CURRENT WORLD, MANY CITIES LIVE UNDER WATER AND WITH THE CURRENT CLIMATE CHANGES HAPPENING ON THE PLANET, FLOODS ARE BECOMING MORE AND MORE COMMON.

THE PROJECT WAS DEVELOPED SO THAT IT COULD BE LOCATED ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, INSTEAD OF BEING LOCATED IN ANY SPECIFIC REGION.THE CHOICE OF MATERIALS WAS MADE WITH THE AIM OF THE FLOATING BUILDING PRESENTING LIGHTNESS AND INTEGRATION PERSPECTIVE 1

THE VOLUME CURVES OF THE PROJECT REFER TO THE CURVES FOUND IN NATURE AND AT SEA. THE AIM OF THE PROJECT WAS FOR IT TO FLOAT SMOOTHLY UNDER THE WATER AND INTEGRATE WITH THE LANDSCAPE IN A POETIC AND DELICATE WAY. THE CURVES WERE ALSO INSPIRED BY WATER ANIMALS AND THEIR SHAPES, SOMETIMES ROUNDED AND SOMETIMES SHARP. ALMOST ALL THE FURNITURE IN THE BUILDING WAS DEVELOPED EXCLUSIVELY FOR THIS PROJECT, SINCE THE UNIQUE SHAPES OF THE BUILDING REQUIRE SPECIFIC VOLUMES FOR THE FURNITURE. THE 9X5 METER AREA OF THE PROJECT WAS RESPECTED BUT THE VOLUME WAS CHANGED IN ORDER TO BRING MORE MOVEMENT AND INNOVATION TO THE PROJECT.

THE MEZZANINE FLOOR THAT WAS MADE WITH THE AIM THAT THE INHABITANTS OF THE RESIDENCE COULD ENJOY THE SPACE FOR SUNBATHING. ON THE MEZZANINE FLOOR THERE IS A SUNROOF WHERE IT WILL BE POSSIBLE TO OPEN THE GLASS PANELS ON HOT SUMMER DAYS. FINALLY, THERE IS A SUBMERGED FLOOR WHERE THE BEDROOM AND BATHROOM ARE LOCATED. BOTH HAVE OPENINGS THAT ALLOW A SUBMERGED VIEW OF THE SEA. THIS WAY, PEOPLE WILL BE ABLE TO SEE THE FISHES WHILE THEY SLEEP IN THEIR BEDS AND ALSO WHEN THEY ARE TAKING A BATH IN THE BATHTUB.

SUSTAINABILITY WAS AN IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROJECT, THUS, PHOTOVOLTAIC PANELS WERE DESIGNED ON THE ROOF OF THE BUILDING SO THAT IT COULD GENERATE ITS OWN ENERGY AND THUS CONTRIBUTE

THE

ALSO

HAS

A

RETRACTABLE AND AUTOMATIC SUNROOF, SO THAT IT WILL BE POSSIBLE TO HAVE NATURAL ADJUSTABLE VENTILATION DURING ANY TIME OF THE DAY, THUS GUARANTEEING THERMAL COMFORT AND GREATER SUSTAINABILITY. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT FACADE MADE OF GLASS ALSO HAS AN AUTOMATIC PANEL, SO PEOPLE CAN CHOOSE TO KEEP THE FRONT FACADE OPEN OR CLOSED AND ALSO REGULATE THE OPENING.
