Esta idea de Juan Donoso, siempre la tengo en mente. No me agrada la actual situación de todos nosotros, pensando de forma individual y no como parte de un grupo mayor mirando hacia delante, luchando por un mundo mejor, un mundo donde habitamos todos y que debemos cuidar para las generaciones futuras. This idea is always on my mind. I don’t like the actual situation of all of us, just thinking as individualist and not as a part of a bigger group of people looking forward to fight for a better world, a world where we all live, where we all need to take care of it, for the future generations. Como Arquitectos, tratamos siempre de dar lo mejor de nosotros mismos para facilitar acomodo, protección, seguridad y espacios o lugares saludables, y siempre que sea posible, bellos edificios para vivir, enseñar, aprender, cuidar a las personas, disfrutar con otros, trabajar, leer, practicar deporte y como no, espacios públicos donde las relaciones entre todos vengan a compartir pensamientos, ideas y todo tipo de movimientos como en las antiguas Ágoras Griegas o los Foros Romanos. As architects we always try to do our best to give accommodation, protection, safety and healthy places, if it’s possible beautiful buildings to live, to teach, to learn, to take care of people, to enjoy with others, to work, to read, to live, to practice sports and also public spaces where the relationships between us come to share thoughts, ideas, and all kind of movements as in the old Greek Agoras or the Roman’s Forums. Esta bella ¿utopía? esta siempre presente en nuestras mentes, pero si vemos el panorama arquitectónico actual podemos observar, la mayoría de las veces, propuestas individuales que se miran a sí mismas como si nada las rodease. This beauty utopia? is still in our minds but if you see the architectural panorama now, you can notice mostly of times only individualist proposals, just looking to themselves like if nothing is surrounding it. Ya en 1948, Bruno Zevi en su obra “Saber ver la Arquitectura”, dice; “…nosotros que vivimos en una época en la que cada uno cree tener un mensaje de importancia universal que aportar al mundo, en la que cada uno se preocupa de ser original, de inventar algo nuevo, de destacarse del conjunto social, de sobresalir, en la que cada uno cree ser más listo que los demás, estamos rodeados por una edilicia que podrá tener todas las cualidades, pero que de ninguna manera puede llamarse urbana.”, “…en el gran baile de la moderna edilicia mercantilista, todos, inteligentes y cretinos, quieren imponerse y distinguirse, hablan y gritan simultáneamente, todos llaman la atención de sus vecinos, y nadie quiere escuchar: el resultado es una algarabía vacua que hace añorar las conversaciones educadas, ligeramente inhibidas, provechosas y agradables, de los edificios de los siglos pasados.” In 1948, the architect and writer Bruno Zevi, in his book “How to look at Architecture”,said; “…we, that lives in a time in which everyone believe to have an universal message to give to the world, in which everyone is focussed to be original, to invent something new, to show up from the social mass, to distinguish, in which each one of us believe to be smarter than the others, are surrounded by buildings that can have all the properties but in anyway can be told as urban” “… in the great ball of the modern commercialize building, everyone, clever and cretins wants to assert oneself and to mark as different, talks and shout simultaneously, everyone wants to take the attention of the neighbors, and nobody wants to hear: the result is an empty commotion that make you miss the polite conversations, some inhibited, helpful and pleasant of the past centuries buildings” . Algunas veces un arquitecto mira alrededor del sitio, solo para empaparse del lugar y propone algo interesante que está conectado con el resto del area. Algunas veces, ese arquitecto se preocupa por la historia de ese lugar, del entorno, la cultura, el “Genius Loci” del sitio y entonces, en ese instante, el elemento arquitectónico toma la atención general de la gente. los comentarios, las criticas de la prensa especializada y entonces el arquitecto se convierte en un profesional más allá de la especulación y el mercantilismo. El arquitecto cuida de las personas, del entorno, de la cultura y la buena arquitectura aparece y se queda con nosotros. Sometimes, an architect look around the site, just to know how is the place, and propose something interesting that is connected with the rest of the area. Sometimes this architect also take care about the history of this
place, the environment, the culture, the “Genius Loci” of the place and at the same time the architectural element took the general attention of the people, the comments, the specialized criticism of magazines, books, etc, and then the architect became in a professional beyond the speculation of mercantilism. The architect takes care of the people, the environment, the culture and the good architecture appears. Si todos nosotros, arquitectos, tomásemos un momento para pensar sobre ello, todos los lugares podría tener un interés especial, podrían pertenecer al sitio donde son construidos, (Genius Loci), y todos juntos podríamos dar a las nuevas generaciones mejores ciudades, bellas y sostenibles. If all of us, architects, take a bit of time just to think about it, all the places could have a special interest, could belong to the site where they were built, and all together may give to new generation better cities, beautiful and sustainable places. Muchas veces he visto como algunos “colegas” desarrollan un proyecto en menos de una semana con el método “copio de internet, modifico con photoshop y lo pego en un panel muy aparente”. Algunas veces estas personas han ganado concursos con un simple panel, una vista espectacular y luego tratan de encajar el edificio en un vestido hecho para otra persona. Han conseguido el encargo, el dinero,…, y ¿que pasa con la Arquitectura en mayusculas, con las personas, con los lugares?. Many times, I have seen how some “colleagues” just develop a project in less than a week with the “copy from internet, modify with photoshop and paste in a nice panel”. Sometimes this people won competitions, just with a “nice” view and then try to fit the building into this “dress” made for another person. They just have the commission, the money,…, and what about the Architecture?… Así que, para resumir, porque no hacemos una parada, para respirar y pensar en un modo mejor de hacer buenos edificios, buenos espacios, buenas ciudades,…,¿por que no?,…creo que no es imposible, que somos humanos y el desalmado dinero no debería dominarlo todo, al menos no nuestras mentes, nuestros pensamientos,…solo piensa sobre ello. So, to sum up, why don’t we take a break, just to breath and to think in a better way to make good buildings, good
spaces, good cities,….. why not?… I think that this is not impossible, we are humans and the immaterial money should not dominate all, at least not our minds, our thinkings,… just think about it!.
Breve Biografía: Desde niño, he estado rodeado de construcciones debido a la profesión de mi padre que poseía una empresa constructora en asociación con su hermano. Por este motivo, mis primos y yo llegamos al mundo de la arquitectura. Dos de mis primos estudiaron aparejadores y otro arquitectura. Yo hice las dos carreras, primero aparejadores y luego arquitectura. En 1998, obtuve my título de Arquitecto Técnico o Aparejador en la Universidad de Granada e inmediatamente comencé a trabajar como tal, en diversas obras, realizando informes, tasaciones, colaborando en estudios de arquitectura, etc… Cinco años después decidí comenzar los estudios de arquitecto (que era lo que siempre me apasionó) y compaginé el trabajo como aparejador con la carrera de arquitectura. En 2009, tras cinco duros años de compaginar trabajo y estudio, obtuve el título de Arquitecto en la Universidad de Sevilla. Nada más acabar los estudios logré mi primer encargo para diseñar un Cortijo o vivienda rural en Sevilla. Fue una experiencia muy motivadora al mismo tiempo que con una gran carga de responsabilidad. Desde ese momento he intentado siempre dar lo mejor de mí, con todos mis clientes. Algunos de ellos, años después de haber terminado el proyecto y haber construido sus edificios, me mostraron su gratitud por las casas diseñadas para ellos y por lo bien que se sentían en sus casas. Para mí, este aspecto es el más gratificante e importante para un arquitecto, más que los honorarios percibidos por hacer algo que realmente te gusta y completa, laboralmente. Creo empecinadamente, que un arquitecto debe dotar a las personas con espacios confortables y gratificantes, para vivir, trabajar y disfrutar, siendo este el verdadero sentido de nuestro trabajo. A brief personal profile: Since my early years I was surrounded by constructors because of my father work. He had a construction company with his brother. This is the reason why me and my cousins got into the world of the architecture. Two of my four cousins studied Construction Engineering and the other two Architecture. I studied Construction Engineering and also Architecture. On 1998 I obtain my degree in Construction Engineering at University of Granada and start working in many building sites. Five years later I decided to become an Architect (the real first dream) so I was working and studying at the same time. On 2009, after five hard years I obtain my Bachelor Degree in Architecture and start designing a project for a rural house in Sevilla. It was an amazing experience and since that moment I was trying to do my best with all my clients. Some of them, even years after the project was finished, showed me that they are really grateful for the houses I designed for them. To me, this is the most important thing for an architect, and not only the economical issue. I believe that an architect must give to the people pleasant and comfortable spaces to live, to work and to enjoy as this is the meaning of our work.
Un pequeño-gran entretenimiento: Como supuestamente todo arquitecto debe saber hacer, siempre estoy dibujando, siempre tengo un lápiz en mi mano porque me gusta dibujar muchas cosas, especialmente la ciudad donde vivo. Dibujo en vivo, en el sitio y nunca a partir de una fotografía. Suelo llevar conmigo mi libreta de hojas en blanco y una pequeña caja de acuarelas. Si tengo tiempo, digamos 30 minutos o más, y veo algo que me guste como un edificio o un espacio público interesante, realizo un boceto rápido, añado algo de color y continúo con lo que estaba haciendo. En 2013, el Ayuntamiento de Sevilla, conmemoró el centenario del Parque de María Luisa y realizó la publicación de un libro de dibujos del parque, en la que se incluyeron cinco dibujos míos, de lo cual me siento muy orgulloso. Este año, la Escuela de Arquitectura de Sevilla, en su asignatura de libre configuración relacionada con los dibujos urbanos realizados en la calle, me llamó como conferenciante para dar consejos y técnicas a los estudiantes de arquitectura. A brief personal hobby: As all the architects are supposed to be, I’m always with a pencil in my hand because I like to draw many things, especially the city where I live. Sketching live and never from a picture I use to carry on my little sketchbook and a small box of watercolors. If I had time, let’s say 30 minutes and I see a building or a space interesting I just do a quick sketch, add some colors and keep on moving. Last year, (2013), the Municipality of Seville commemorate the centennial of a big and famous park of the city. They published a book with drawings of the park and five of mine were included in this book. I’m so proud of it. This year, (2015), the School of Architecture of Seville, ask for my collaboration as speaker to give some advices, techniques and tricks about drawing to the students of the course of Urban Sketching. I´m also proud of it.

Algunos trabajos realizados como Arquitecto Técnico Some works done as Construction Engineer 105 viviendas adosadas. San José, Almería. España. 2000 a 2002 Este fue mi primer trabajo importante, en cuanto a volumen de trabajo, una vez acabados los estudios de Arquitectura Técnica. Previamente había estado trabajando en un estudio de arquitectura en 1998 y en el Ayuntamiento de Ceuta en 1999, en la Concejalía de Cultura. Acepté la responsabilidad de esta labor, viéndolo como una oportunidad de aprender sobre el terreno como pasar las líneas de unos planos a la realidad construida. La obra, comenzada en 2000, finalizó en 2002. Actué como Director de Ejecución de las obras y co-diseñador de las viviendas junto con el arquitecto. Se desarrollaron viviendas de dos a cuatro dormitorios, en dos y tres plantas, con parking, patios y zonas verdes con piscina, en un residencial semi-privado, con centro comercial y diversos servicios. Situado muy cerca de la playa y del centro de la localidad, se quiso dar un estilo tradicional al modo de las viviendas típicas de la zona mediterránea. Una vez finalizada esta experiencia, el arquitecto de este proyecto quiso que colaborase con el en su estudio dadas
mis capacidades, lo cual acepté de inmediato ya que me daría la oportunidad de aprender a realizar el trabajo del arquitecto de primera mano. En esa época ya había comenzado los estudios de arquitecto, lo que parecía la opción más interesante y productiva en ese momento.
Some works done as Construction Engineer 105 Attached houses. Almeria, Andalusia, Spain. 2000 to 2002 This work was my first important job once I have finished my career. Previously on 1998 I was working in an architectural studio. On 1999 I was working for the Municipality of Ceuta, and I got this job as an opportunity to learn how to really build a house and not only with theories. So, on 2000 I moved to my birthplace to start this amazing job. All the houses were finished two years later on 2002. My work was to be part of the Facultative Direction, CoDesigner of the houses with the Architect and Supervisor of the construction. We develop houses of two to four bedrooms, two and three floors, with parking, courtyards, etc… into a common residential with pool, green areas, supermarket and amenities., very close to the beach and the center of
the village of San José. When the work was finished the architect of this project wanted me to work with him at his studio, so I accepted the proposal and went with him to learn how to work as an architect. I was doing the first year of Architecture at this time, so it was a good opportunity to learn the profession at first hand.

2 Triplex para dos hermanos en Huercal de Almería. 2003 Mientras trabajaba en el Estudio de Arquitectura Adalga S.L. colaborando con el arquitecto en la realización de proyectos, mediciones y otros trabajos relacionados, un nuevo proyecto llegó a la oficina. Para entonces yo estaba estudiando arquitectura y el arquitecto del estudio me dio la oportunidad de demostrar mi valía como diseñador. Me tomé el encargo con ilusión realizando todo el proceso desde hablar con los clientes, ir al solar a realizar las mediciones, estudios previos, proyecto básico y ejecución. Tanto los clientes como el arquitecto del estudio quedaron muy satisfechos con la propuesta y las viviendas se realizaron tal y como las diseñé. Años después, coincidí con los dueños y me transmitieron lo contentos que estaban con el resultado final y lo bien que vivían en sus casas. Esto me llenó de orgullo y creo que es la mejor recompensa que puede tener un arquitecto. Two 3 stories houses for two siblings. Almeria, Andalusia, Spain. 2003 While I was working at Adalga Architecture LLC, collaborating with the architect and drawing construction documents, calculating the cost estimations, and other issues related with the work of the studio, a new project came to the office and at this time I wanted to study Architecture, so the architect gave to me the opportunity to demonstrate if I can design as an architect or not. I got the commission with illusion and start the work, talking with the clients to know their needs, how they think that their house must be, etc… I made the plans for both houses, the clients were very happy and the architect was satisfied of my work, he also liked the project, so we made it and one year later the houses were built. Some years later I met the clients in a restaurant and they said to me how happy they were at their houses because of the comfortable of all the spaces and the right size of all the rooms, etc… so I was so proud of the work done. I think that this is the most important thing for an architect, the recognition of your work, more that the money you have had received for it.

Estos dos grandes proyectos, fueron adjudicados a la empresa donde estaba trabajando y me encomendaron la tarea de ser el Jefe de Obra de ambas. El Ayuntamiento de Berja, encargó la construcción de la Piscina Municipal, con diversos servicios y dimensiones suficientes para poder realizar competiciones internacionales. La piscina esta cubierta con vigas de madera de 1 metro de alto por 21 de longitud y dos grandes vigas de hormigón armado de 2,5 metros de altura por 25 de longitud. Fue un trabajo delicado que se remató de forma exquisita. This two large projects, were located in a big village outside of the Capital, 50 km away, so I had to leave my job at the studio with the arrangement between the architect and me to get back to the studio in the future. The Municipal Pool is a covered Public Pool with facilities for the users and with the needed area for international competitions. Concrete beams of 25 meters long were built to support the wood roof also with beams of 21 meters long. It was my first experience with Pools. The Municipality were very happy with the work that I have done and now the people of the Village enjoy all the year swimming and making aquatic sports, even in winter. El Mercado de Abastos fue construido al mismo tiempo que la Piscina. Se realizó una gran excavación de 28000 m3 para ejecutar la cimentación y las plantas de aparcamiento subterráneo, con muros pantalla de 18 metros de altura en todo el perímetro. Los parkings subterráneos contaban con 60 plazas para coches en su nivel mas bajo, 6 puestos comerciales con entrada peatonal por un extremo y 58 plazas de garaje en el nivel intermedio y 52 puestos comerciales con un parking al aire libre para 24 vehículos. El Ayuntamiento quedó muy satisfecho con el resultado final de ambas obras y hoy en día son puntos de gran afluencia de público. The Market, was built at the same time of the Municipal Pool. A big hole of 28000 cubic meters was made to locate the Basement, Semi Basement and Ground Floor, with reinforced concrete walls of 18 meters high surrounding the perimeter of the whole construction. The Basement has a Parking for 60 vehicles. The Semi Basement has 6 commercial units with a pedestrian entrance by the opposite street of the Main entrance at the ground floor. It has also a Parking for 58 vehicles and 1300 square meters to add commercials in the future. The Ground Floor, where the Main Entrance is located has 52 commercial units and an open space used as Parking for 24 vehicles. The Market and the Pool were finished with a difference of only two months and again the Municipality, the people and the owners of the commercials were very happy with the way the building was finished.

86 viviendas adosadas en Residencial. Huercal de Almería. 2005-2006 Mientras estudiaba arquitectura y trabajaba como autónomo en tres sitios diferentes al mismo tiempo, como Tasador, colaborador en el Estudio de Arquitectura MAPZ S.L. y en la Constructora Gaygbe S.L., llevé a cabo la construcción de estas 86 viviendas. Tuve una estrecha colaboración con el arquitecto del proyecto, D. Jesús Basterra, un conocido profesional en Almería, gran persona con la que aprendí muchas cosas no solo relacionadas con la arquitectura sino con las relaciones humanas. Arquitecto con muchos premios que no por ello ha dejado de ser una persona normal. Un trabajo bien hecho y una sólida amistad surgió en este periodo de tiempo. Tras esta experiencia decidí trasladarme a Sevilla a terminar la carrera y trabajar allí. 86 attached houses in a Residential, Almería, Andalusia, Spain, 2005-2006 One year before (2004) I started to study Architecture at the University of Seville and I made the big effort to study and work simultaneously in two different cities, 400 km far away one from the other. I was working in three different jobs at the same time as a freelance. Real State Appraiser, collaborations at MAPZ Architecture LLC and Supervisor of this Residential of 86 three stories attached houses. I had a close friendship with the architect of this project, Mr. Jesús Basterra, a prominent architect of Almeria and good person whom I had the chance to learn many things not only related with Design and Architecture but also about human relationships. He has won many architectural competitions but he never change the way he interacts with people. A job well done, and a solid friendship emerged at this period of time. The next step was to move to Seville to work and study at the same city.
Algunos trabajos realizados durante la carrera de Arquitectura Some exercises done at the School of Architecture Asignatura de Proyectos 2 Este ejercicio consistió en realizar un proyecto para una casa situada en el sur de España en un ambiente muy caluroso. Las especificaciones exigían que la vivienda debía ser construida con 50 cubos de hormigón armado de 2,5 metros de lado cada uno, abiertos en dos lados. Debía conseguirse un estilo mediterráneo con patios interiores y sistemas para tener ventilación cruzada natural para ahorro de energía. Esta fue mi propuesta. Subject Projects 2 The exercise consisted in a Project for a single house located at the south of Spain in a very hot climate environment. The specifications said that the house must be built only with 50 cubes, 2.5 meters each side, with prefabricated concrete pieces, open in two sides and with four sides closed. We all must follow the typical Mediterranean Style, with interior courtyards and systems to have natural cruised ventilation to save energy. This was my proposal:
Asignatura de Proyectos 4 Un gran solar en el centro de la ciudad de Sevilla ocupado previamente por la Compañía de Transporte Municipal fue el sitio propuesto para este ejercicio. El programa incluía 6 edificios residenciales, una torre de apartamentos y dos edificios de oficinas. La planta baja debía ocuparse por un gran centro comercial, una pequeña escuela infantil y una biblioteca. Todo el sótano debía ser usado como aparcamiento público y privado. Esta fue mi propuesta. Subject Projects 4 A piece of land at the center of the city, previously occupied by the Municipal Public Transportation Company, was proposed for this exercise. The program includes 6 blocks for residential apartments and one tower also for apartments plus two buildings for offices. The ground level must be occupied by a large Mall, a small school for kids and a library. All the basement level must be used as parking, public and private. This was my proposal:
Asignatura de Urbanismo. 4º curso Un área de 600.000 m2 fue propuesto para pensar en la posible extensión de una ciudad próxima a Sevilla. La propuesta debía contemplar áreas verdes, viviendas sociales y libres, hospitales, centros de salud, colegios, servicios sociales y deportivos. Desafortunadamente los archivos de CAD se han perdido pero aún conservo los estudios preliminares hechos a mano para este Plan Parcial a gran escala. Subject Urbanism and Landscape A large area of 600000 square meters were proposed to think about how to extend a town very close to Seville. The proposal must have green areas, free and subsidized housing, hospitals, health centers, schools, sports and social facilities. Unfortunately the CAD drawings are missing but I still have the preliminary sketches made for this large scale project.
Un parque lineal atraviesa toda el área desde el norte hacia el sur, que funciona como un paseo peatonal verde. Se localiza en la zona más alta del terreno natural permitiendo vistas de la nueva extensión de la ciudad y al mismo tiempo oculta las viviendas situadas al oeste de las situadas al oeste. Las viviendas sociales se sitúan al oeste debido a una tipología constructiva mas económica que encaja mejor con la tipología preexistente en la ciudad antigua dando continuidad a las preexistencia hasta el nuevo parque. En el lado este, se sitúan las viviendas libres más cerca de la autovia existente. Un corredor verde es creado para minimizar el ruido del trafico rodado entre esta vía y las viviendas. A large linear park that goes trough the area from north to south, works as a big public promenade. It was located at the natural ridge of the area allowing to make a natural park with a natural viewpoint of the new city, so the housings at the west side could be “hided” from the ones at the east. The subsidized housing were located at the west side because of the type used (economical) that fits better with the old city grid giving continuity to the city until the park. At the east side, were located the free housing, near to the existing highway. A green corridor was created to minimize the noise of the traffic, between the highway and the housing.
Todos los servicios médicos se sitúan en el sur del territorio donde están las mejores comunicaciones con las vías principales y carreteras que comunican con la capital de Sevilla. Al norte se han situado los servicios deportivos donde el tráfico inherente a estos servicios no interrumpen el tráfico normal de la nueva ciudad. El resto de servicios municipales como Escuelas, Bibliotecas, etc…, se sitúan a distancias equilibradas y equidistantes a toda el área para que los ciudadanos puedan tener acceso a todos estos servicios sin necesidad de coger vehículos permitiendo el acceso a pié desde cualquier sitio. Este fue uno de los proyectos mas complejos por su envergadura que tuve que realizar durante la carrera y quede satisfecho con el resultado. All the medical facilities were located at the south of the area, where we had the best communications with the highway and all the roads that are leading to the major hospitals of the Capital. At the north side, were located all the sports facilities where the traffic do not disturb the rest of the city. The rest of Municipal facilities as Schools, Libraries, Municipal Services, etc…, were located at balanced distances all around the area, so the citizens could have access to all of them without the need to take the car and they could go walking to everywhere. This was the larger project I made during my bachelor and I was very satisfied with the final result.
Proyecto Final de Carrera. 2009 Mi propuesta para el PFC, consistió en recuperar una zona de la ciudad donde vivía dando mi apoyo a los ciudadanos que protestaron por la actuación que se estaba llevando a cabo en un entorno protegido de la ciudad. Un empresa constructora quería edificar cinco torres residenciales de 20 plantas cada una en un entorno protegido por Medio Ambiente. Aún no sabemos como el Ayuntamiento concedió el permiso a esta empresa para demoler esta parte de un acantilado protegido pero así sucedió. El acantilado fue excavado para preparar el solar y en pocas semanas una horrenda cicatriz quedo realizada (hasta hoy en día), en el paisaje natural reconocible del pueblo. Miles de años de acción natural quedaron destruidos en semanas. Los ciudadanos protestaron en las calles contra este acto ilegal y violento y las autoridades europeas paralizaron las obras que inicialmente consintieron en el Ayuntamiento. Thesis or Final Project to obtain the Bachelor Degree in Architecture, 2009 The Thesis or Final Project of the bachelor is an individual work that each one of us must do when we finish the studies, just to demonstrate that your are able to work alone and take responsibility at your own to make projects and built them. My choice to do this project was to give support to the citizens of the town where I was living. A construction company wants to build a project of five residential towers, 20 stories each in a protected environmental area. We still don’t know how the Municipality gave to them the permission to start to demolish this part of the protected cliff, but they did. This natural cliff was protected according with the Environmental Agency of Andalusia parameters. The cliff was carved and a horrible scar appeared suddenly on the natural landscape. Thousands of years of natural action was destroyed in a weekend. The citizens protested on the streets against this violent act and the Europeans Authorities denied the initial permit given to the company by the Municipality.
Mi propuesta consistió en recuperar esta herida hecha en el acantilado y devolvérsela a los ciudadanos que lucharon para intentar que se quedara como estaba originalmente. Intenté recuperar la forma original del acantilado con una escollera que actuase como un foro para las relaciones ciudadanas con un paseo con puntos de vista del paisaje y del mar, plazas con protección contra el sol y espacios interiores con locales comerciales, biblioteca y facilidad para el aparcamiento. En el nivel superior una piscina “infinita” con 200 metros de longitud fue situada en el borde del acantilado. Todos los servicios relacionados en este nivel con la piscina, (baños, vestuarios, restaurante, etc…) se situaron en la misma montaña en estrechas grietas abiertas en la roca para evitar construcciones que pudiesen ser vistas desde el exterior y conseguir el mínimo impacto visual posible. Ambas plataformas, (inferior y superior) estaban conectadas mediante un prisma semi vacío de piedra con 30 metros de altura que permitía la comunicación entre ambas plataformas y la localización de servicios sociales y espacios expositivos. Este proyecto obtuvo una calificación notable por la sensibilidad con el paisaje y mi posición contra la especulación inmobiliaria, siendo altamente apreciada por el tribunal. My proposal wanted to recover this wound made to the cliff, and give it back to the citizens who fight in order to keep it as it was. I have tried to recover the original shape of the cliff with a “breakwater” which acts as a forum to the citizen relationships, with a promenade with viewpoints to the sea, sun protected squares (plazas) and interior spaces with commercial facilities, Library and basement with public parkings. At the higher level an “infinity” pool of 200 meters long was located at the edge of the cliff. All the facilities for the pool at this level (toilets, changing rooms, restaurant, etc…), were located into the mountain in narrow cracks opened in the stone, to avoid constructions that could be seen from the outside and make the less visual impact as possible. Both platforms (lower and higher), were connected by a semi-hollow prismatic “stone” of 30 meters high, providing communications between the platforms and also social services and exhibition spaces. This proposal had a remarkable qualification because of its sensibility with the landscape, and the position against the speculation, being highly praised by the teachers tribunal.
Algunos trabajos realizados como Arquitecto Some works done as an Architect Casa rural en Almadén de La Plata, 2010 Este fue el primer proyecto realizado por mi cuenta justa al terminar la carrera. Un profesor de matemáticas y su familia tenían una parcela de 35000 m2 con olivos, frutales y cultivos de cereales, en un parque natural protegido al norte de Sevilla. La parcela contaba con un viejo edificio semi derruido que pertenecía a sus abuelos y que todavía usaban los fines de semana en la parte que quedaba en pié. Quería reconstruir la vivienda original en el mismo sitio adaptándola a un uso de residencia de fin de semana pero manteniendo la tipología de la zona. El programa consistió en tres dormitorios, salón con chimenea, cocina con lavadero-despensa, dos baños y un almacén exterior. La normativa no permitía más de 120 m2 de construcción al modo tradicional estético con cubiertas a dos aguas de teja, paredes de cemento pintado en blanco con zócalo de piedra y carpintería de madera. Finalmente quedaron muy satisfechos con el proyecto. Country Style House for a family, 2010 This was my first project working on my own, just one month later I’ve obtained my Bachelor Degree. A Math teacher and his family had a piece of land of 35000 square meters with olive trees, fruits and cereals cultivation, in a protected environmental space of the mountains of Seville. The plot had an old building almost demolished with some ruined walls and some roofs that still stands there. This old building belonged to his Grandfather 60 years ago, and he wanted to build a new house in the same place that the first was. The requirements were three bedrooms, living room with fireplace, kitchen with pantry, two bathrooms and a storage room. The rules of the protected site does not allow to build more than 120 sq. m. and the house must be built in a traditional way, with sloped tiled roofs, white walls of cement plaster with a stone base of 1 meter high with dark wooden carpentry for all the doors and windows. Finally they were very pleased with the work I have done.
Casa enterrada en Berja, 2010 Este fue un proyecto singular porque el dueño del solar estaba muy interesado en tener una vivienda que no alterase el paisaje preexistente con la vivienda a construir. Le sugerí construir una vivienda “enterrada”, bajo rasante de modo que la cubierta fuese como un jardín donde las flores podrían crecer, haciendo una cubierta vegetal y climática. La idea le entusiasmó y el proyecto comenzó a realizarse. El programa requería una vivienda principal con tres habitaciones, dos baños y dos aseos. Comedor de verano e invierno, sala de estar con chimenea, salón, sala de juegos, bodega, almacén, patio con pergola y una pequeña piscina para niños. Adosado a la vivienda principal, se necesitaban tres apartamentos para invitados con una habitación con baño y vestidor cada uno. Finalmente la vivienda no se construyó debido a la crisis en 2010. “Buried” House, 2010 This was a singular project because the owner were very interested in having a house that does not alter the preexisting landscape. I suggested him to build a “buried” house, so that, the roof could work as the original garden that he had previously where the flowers could grow making a vegetal and climatic cover. This idea delighted him and this project started to be a reality. The requirements for the house were a main house with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and two toilets, dining space for winter and another for summer, lounge with fireplace, living room, playroom, wine cellar, storage, patio with pergola and a small pool for kids. Attached to the main house, three apartments were designed for guests. The apartments must have one bedroom with bathroom and dressing room each one and one of them also a living room. Unfortunately, because of the economical crisis, the house is not built yet.
Triplex en Lebrija, Sevilla, 2011 Un amigo, recién casado, quería construir una casa para el y su esposa en una parcela que recibieron como regalo de bodas. El programa requería un jardín para albergar una piscina en el futuro, garaje, cocina con despensa y patio trasero, baño y sala de estar con comedor. Era necesario un ascensor en la vivienda para comunicar las tres plantas. En la segunda planta se necesitaban cuatro dormitorios, cuarto de plancha, dos baños y dos terrazas. En la tercera planta un casetón de acceso a la cubierta desde la que puede verse el pueblo. se muestran las plantas finales y los esquemas previos a estas plantas. 3 storeis Single House, 2011 A friend of mine who was just married, wanted to build a house for him and his wife in a plot given as a gift because of the wedding. The requirements for the house were a garden with space for a future pool, garage, kitchen with pantry and backyard, laundry, bathroom, lounge, dinning room, and a lift at the ground floor. At the second floor they need four bedrooms, an office, two bathrooms, one dressing room and two balconies. At the third floor, an access to the terrace was designed from which they could see the village. Here you can see the final floor plans developed and the preliminary sketches made.
Concurso de ideas para un Pabellón Efímero en Mexico D.F., 2011 El famoso arquitecto mexicano, Luis Barragán (fallecido en 1998) tenía su famosa casa en la capital mexicana, la cual puede ser visitada y fue declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad en 2004 por la Unesco. Anexa a la vivienda existe otro edificio administrado por la Fundación Luis Barragán para realizar exhibiciones con un gran jardín donde la Fundación quería construir un Pabellón Efímero a través de un concurso para realizar actividades temporales. Este pabellón debía ser una construcción ligera que albergase un espacio polifuncional para dar clases, exhibiciones, etc… incluyendo un espacio para servir aperitivos. Mi propuesta consistió en un pequeño edificio con un camino peatonal hacia el edificio desde el edificio existente. El espacio multifuncional se localizó un metro bajo rasante para tener mayor altura en las paredes expositivas sin sobrepasar la altura máxima permitida. Las paredes eran curvas para favorecer una aproximación y salida del edificio de una forma más natural. Los materiales elegidos fueron plexiglass y madera de modo que una vez desmontado el pabellón, pudiesen reutilizarse estos materiales. Ideas Competition for an Ephemeral Pavilion, 2011 The famous Mexican Architect Luis Barragán (died on 1998) had his well known “Luis Barragán House” in Mexico D.F., that can be visited and was declared as a World Heritage Site by the Unesco in 2004. Next to this house there are another building managed by his Foundation for exhibitions with a big garden in one side. The Foundation wants to build and ephemeral pavilion on a corner of the garden for temporal activities and they announced an open international contest to built it. The Pavilion must be a light construction capable to hold a small multipurpose space (exhibitions, classrooms, etc…), including an interior space to serve meals and beverages. My proposal consisted in a little building with a pedestrian way to and into the building. The space for multi-purposes use was located one meter below the ground level to have higher exposing walls for big paintings to allow not overpass the maximum height allowed. All the walls had a semicircular shape to conform a natural way to go in and out of the building. The materials proposed were plexiglass and wood due to the ephemeral of the construction and they can be used for future pavilions.
Concurso de ideas para la reforma del Ayuntamiento de Plasencia, España, 2012 El Ayuntamiento de Plasencia, consistía en un pequeño edificio con fachada a la plaza principal de la ciudad. Conforme la población iba creciendo, el edificio original lo fue haciendo también mediante la adición de viviendas anexas. como resultado de todas estas anexiones se conformó un edificio muy extenso con diferentes fachadas, geometría irregular y espacios no conectados que hacían que el edificio no funcionase con claridad. Mi propuesta consistió en unificar todas las fachadas con un mismo material para dar unidad al conjunto, excepto en la fachada original de piedra. En el nivel inferior se localizaron los distintos departamentos correspondientes a la Policía Local, Hacienda y Archivo General, todos ellos desconectados en origen y con diferentes entradas a través de distintas calles. Se creó una conexión peatonal como entrada única que conectada todos los departamentos y que dotaba al edifico de luz natural. En la primera planta, utilidades como Finanzas, Registro de la Propiedad, Despacho del Alcalde, Sala de prensa y áreas administrativas fueron motivo de nueva distribución para que todo estuviese conectado adecuadamente. En la última planta se localizaron las áreas técnicas como Urbanismo, Arquitectura, Turismo, Asuntos Sociales, Archivo Histórico, etc… Ideas Competition for a Town Hall renovation, 2012 The Town Hall of Plasencia, Spain was a small building facing to the main plaza of the town. As the population and the needs of the town growth the original building was growing also with others building additions trough the years. All of those additions, resulted in a large building with different facades, irregular geometry and unconnected spaces that does not work properly as an entity. My proposal tried to unify all facades to provide an aesthetic consistency throughout the building except for the original facade of the Town Hall that must remains as originally was. The exterior facade must have the same treatment with sandstone or terra-cotta to give a sense of unity all around the building. At the ground level were located, next to the original building, many different departments such us the Municipal Police, the Treasure Department, General Archives all of them disconnected and with different entrances at different streets. A new pedestrian connection, acts as a filter, and allows to connect all these departments. At first floor, facilities as Finance, Property, Rooms for the different political parties, the Mayors’ Office, Press Room and Administrative areas were located. At second floor were located all the technical areas as Architecture, Urbanism, Tourism, Social Affairs, Historical Archives, etc…
U.P.A. (Consultoría de Urbanismo, Planeamiento y Arquitectura, S.L.),Abu Dhabi 2014 Desde Marzo de 2014 he estado viviendo y trabajando en Abu Dhabi, trabajando como Arquitecto Senior, donde mi trabajo consistía en desarrollar los distintos concursos a los que se presentaba la oficina así como colaborar en los distintos proyectos abiertos y en desarrollo en la oficina. Los concursos desarrollados, entre otros, consistieron en un complejo ecuestre en Abu Dhabi (en el que hemos sido finalistas), y la Embajada de Emiratos en Rabat (Marruecos) como más representativos. En las colaboraciones cabe citar los proyectos de un Estadio Olímpico en Irak, un Hospital de 100 camas en Abu Dhabi, Otro Hospital de 25 camas en Qatar, la reforma de 10 colegios en Abu Dhabi, etc… Works done at UPA, (Urbanism, Planning and Architecture Consultancy, LLC) 2014 Since the beginning of March, I was working and living in Abu Dhabi. Working at UPA as Sr. Architect, I’ve developed some contest and helped to the Studio with many other projects. The contests consisted in a proposal for an Equestrian Facilities en Abu Dhabi, (we are finalist now) and the most recent, was developed for the UAE Embassy at Morocco. I’ve helped the working group in different jobs like an Stadium at Irak, a 100 beds Hospital in Abu Dhabi, 25 beds Hospital in Qatar, 10 Schools Refurbishment at Abu Dhabi, etc…
Estudio previo para la construcción de 55 naves industriales en Marruecos, 2015. En un solar estratégicamente situado entre Tanger y Tetuán, muy cerca de los nuevos puertos marroquíes MED 1 y 2, se me encargó el estudio previo para la construcción de 55 naves industriales, con áreas de aparcamiento, hotel, bancos, cafeterías y tiendas. La propuesta ha sido bien recibida y se espera poder desarrollar el proyecto definitivo próximamente. Preliminary Study to develop 55 Industrial Units in Morocco, 2015. In a strategically plot located close to Tanger and Tetuan, and also to the new sea ports named MED 1 & 2, this preliminary study was given to me for the construction of 55 Industrials Units, with parking lots areas, a hotel, banks, cafeterias and commercials. The proposal had a good and remarkable comment so now we are expecting to develop the definitive project to build it up.
