Brief Resume Since 2009 to present day…. as an Architect

Grow with a Pencil I remember myself always drawing, since I was a child. No matter the material or the surface, sometimes gypsum on the asphalt or either crayons on a piece of paper and other times wetting my finger in the coffee of my father just to paint on the paper of the restaurant table… This ability was getting stronger with the years and became a habit for every day. Sometimes you can express yourself better through by drawings more than with words. Mostly of the times, drawing can drive to you either to Fine Arts but also to Architecture. Construction was a familiar environment for me and in addition to the love I had for drawings I thought I had to combine the two and create my way of thinking. Giving covered spaces and services to the people under a shape of a building is always a grateful experience. Since the beginning of humanity, drawing was the perfect tool to communicate with others until the language appeared. Today, with technology, we’ve lost somehow, the ability of drawing, (I have many colleagues incapables to make a simply straight line, but can make an amazing photorealistic render of a project). Just to make a quick and understandable sketch can always help you to show, either to you or to your client, the main ideas you have. I think that the architects must rethink the humanity loss, without putting away the technology, just to combine in two, especially at the beginning of the design process and keep it until the end. I have the habit to not lose abilities because something new just came. You can take both just to enrich your work and give beauty to the process.
Personal Profile Since my early years I was surrounded by constructors because of my fathers’ work. He had a construction company with his brother. This is the reason why me and my cousins got into the world of the architecture. Two of my four cousins studied Construction Engineering and the other two Architecture. I studied Construction Engineering and also Architecture. On 1998 I took my degree in Construction Engineering at University of Granada and started to work in many building sites. Five years later I decided to become an Architect (the real first dream) so I worked and studied at the same time. On 2009, after five hard years I obtain my Bachelor Degree in Architecture and start designing a project for a rural house in Sevilla. It was an amazing experience and since that moment I was trying to do my best with all my clients. Some of them, even years after the project was finished, showed me that they are really grateful for the houses I designed for them. For me, this is the most important thing for an architect, and not only the economical issue. So, to sum up, I believe that an architect must give to the people pleasant and comfortable spaces to live, to work and to enjoy, this is the meaning of our work.

Works done at UPA As a Sr. Architect I have done two major projects in two Ideas Competition. The first was an Equestrian Facilities for the Sports Council in Abu Dhabi. At this competition, now we are finalist. The second was done last September for the Embassy of UAE at Rabat, Morocco. Other projects: 100 beds General Hospital in Khalifa City A. / 25 beds Hospital proposal for Qatar / Complex in Irak with a Sport Hall, Stadium and Hotel / Program for the refurbishment of 10 schools in Abu Dhabi, etc…, drawing construction documents, sketches for final presentations, developing conceptual ideas for the contests and many more.
