In 1964, the movie “The Night of the Iguana” placed Puerto Vallarta in the eyes of the world, marking an important episode in its tourist takeoff.

Writer Carlos Munguía Fregoso, chronicler of the city at that time, relates “the tranquility of that little town was suddenly flooded by trucks, artificial lights and stars. Technicians, specialized workers, residents hired as extras and dozens of onlookers moved like ants among cameras, reflectors, and a tangle of cables that covered the cobblestones. In front of the boardwalk, the electric generators roared to produce, probably, more electricity than was necessary to illuminate the entire town”.

Thus, one of the best-protected treasures of Mexico, the wonderful paradise of Puerto Vallarta, was discovered for the whole world and a new chapter began for this unique destination of incredible beaches and prodigious mountains that, despite being today a vibrant and favorite destination for people from all over the world, continues to preserve the flavor, warmth and charm of a small Mexican town.
