in Building and Construction Short-course student Mario recently retired from 43 years in state and local government employment. Starting his career as a civil draftsman in the mid-seventies, Mario moved into other technical roles in the eighties, and later into a variety of managerial roles. Now retired, Mario has a desire to return to his original profession of drafting, something he has always enjoyed. In the seventies drafting was performed on a drawing board with a pencil and chromaflex drafting sheets. These days, AutoCAD is used. Mario decided to enrol into TAFE SA's Introduction to AutoCAD to test his aptitude, and thoroughly enjoyed the lessons. Jim, the lecturer, provided well-structured lessons and at a perfect pace for a novice like Mario. This course has inspired Mario to continue his studies and he is now undertaking the Certificate IV in Building Design Drafting (CPP40115).
