¡Comienza la quinta edición de REACT!. Empezó siendo un proyecto fruto de la ilusión de jóvenes entusiastas de la danza urbana y amantes de la cultura Hip Hop, agrupados y agrupadas en torno a la escuela de danza IN SITU de Alicante. Hoy lo continúa siendo, pero es además un festival consolidado en su género y respetado por su escena europea. REACT es un punto de encuentro para miles de personas de todo el mundo. Conferencias, Battles y Campeonatos, una alineación internacional de coreógrafos y jueces, actuaciones en un gran escenario, fiestas y talleres intensivos son algunas de las actividades de las que puedes disfrutar en esta semana tan intensa. Este año REACT vuelve a ocupar un lugar emblemático de la cultura: El Auditorio de la Diputación de Alicante (ADDA). Para nosotros era importante llevar el Hip Hop y la Danza Urbana a un espacio de la cultura convencional y con prestigio para la mayoría de los ciudadanos. Pensamos que es nuestra forma de ayudar al movimiento a subir de nivel, a que se tome en serio también por las instituciones. Además, somos personas orgullosas de nuestra tierra. Por eso organizamos el REACT en Alicante, para convertir nuestra ciudad en un referente mundial de la Danza y el Hip Hop durante unos dias. Decían que estábamos locos y locas. Pero ya llevamos cinco años consiguiéndolo. ¡Bienvenido/a a REACT 2013!
The fifth edition of REACT Starts now!. It began as a project growing from the illusion of young urban dance enthusiasts and Hip Hop culture lovers, grouped and clustered around the dance school IN SITU, in the small city of Alicante, Spain. Today it stills being so, but it is also an established festival of its kind and respected in its scene all over Europe. REACT is a meeting point for thousands of people around the world. Conferences, Battles and Championships, an international line-up of choreographers and judges, shows in a big stage, parties and intensive workshops are some of the activities you can enjoy in this intense week. This year REACT takes over again a landmark of culture and arts: The Auditorium of the Provincial Council of Alicante (ADDA). For us it was important to bring the Hip Hop and Urban Dance to a space for the arts, in the conventional and prestigious sense for the majority of the citizens. We think this is our way of helping our movement to reach the next level, to make it be taken seriously by institutions and governments also. In addition, we are proud of our homeland. Therefore, we organize the REACT in Alicante, to turn our city into a world referent of Dance and Hip Hop for a few days. They said we were crazy. But over five years we have achieved our goal. Welcome to REACT 2013!

Los talleres del Domingo tienen lugar en los Pabellones Municipales de Alicante “Pitiu Rochel” y “Rafael Pastor Micó” (están en Calle del Foguerer José Romeu Zarandieta, 4 junto al Estadio de Fútbol José Rico Pérez). Inscripciones en www.reactspain.com. Acreditaciones comienzan a las 11:30 AM. Los talleres duran una hora y media. Sunday's workshops take place at the City Hall Sport Facilities “Pitiu Rochel” and “Rafael Pastor Micó” (located in Foguerer J.Romeu Zarandieta street, 4. Compañías profesionales, coreógrafos internacionales de Hip Hop y artistas de España, Europa y Estados Unidos presentan sus mejores trabajos. “Theater Edition” es uno de los dos eventos fundamentales del REACT, y el que mejor muestra su esencia: compartir y disfrutar de la visión de multitud de artistas en un evento para todos los públicos.
Street dances and street culture hit the stage together in harmony. Professional companies, international Hip Hop choreographers and artists coming from Spain, Europe and USA show their best art works. “Theater Edition” is one of the two REACT''s fundamental events and the best at showing its essence: sharing and enjoying a plethora of artist in an event suitable for all audiences.
MR. WIGGLES (USA) Popping
Steffan "Mr. Wiggles" Clemente es uno de los Street Dancers más conocidos del mundo, principalmente por sus habilidades en el popping, activo como bailarín, actor, coreógrafo, profesor de baile, productor musical y artista de graffiti. Es miembro de tres grandes e históricas fuerzas del Hip Hop y del Funk: la Rock Steady Crew, The Electric Boogaloos y la Zulú Nation. Mr. Wiggles es Puertorriqueño del Sur del Bronx. Destaca su compromiso con programas educativos que enseñan a los y las jóvenes los aspectos positivos de la cultura Hip Hop.
Steffan "Mr. Wiggles" Clemente is a street dancer, noted for his popping skills. He is active as a dancer, actor, choreographer, dance instructor, music producer and graffiti artist. He is a member of three major and historical forces of the Hip Hop and Funk movements: The Rock Steady Crew, the Electric Bogaloos and the Zulu Nation. Mr. Wiggles is a Puertorrican from South Bronx, New York City. He is also committed to participating in outreach programs teaching youth about the positive aspects of hip hop culture.
De teatro al cine a los videos musicales, Mr. Wiggles ha disfrutado de una exitosa carrera desde los primeros días y ha trabajado con famosos bailarines y coreógrafos como Graciele Danielle, Savion Glover y Anne Marie D'Angelo. Apareció en las películas pioneras del Hip Hop “Beat Street” y “Wild Style”. Fue el encargado de producir una pieza musical “September Songs”, de Kurt Weill, trabajando con músicos consagrados como Elvis Costello, Iggy Pop y Betty Carter. Ha sido artista invitado en el mundialmente famoso Teatro Apollo de Harlem y actuado en el Kennedy Center en honor a los hermanos Nicholas. Mr. Wiggles también apareció en varios anuncios, incluido uno junto a la estrella del basket Patrick Ewing.
From theater to film to music videos, Mr. Wiggles has enjoyed a very successful career since those early days and has worked with famous dancers and coreographers such as Graciele Danielle, SavionGlover and Anne Marie D’Angelo. He appeared at the pioneer Hip Hop Movies “Beat Street” and “Wild Style”. He was commissioned to produce a musical piece for Kurt Weill’s “September Songs” working with accomplished musicians Elvis Costello, Iggy Pop and Betty Carter. He has been a featured artist at the world famous Apollo Theater and performed at the Kennedy Center honoring the Nicholas Brothers. Mr. Wiggles was also featured in several commercials, including one with basket star Patrick Ewing.

Recently, he was among the members of Rock Steady honored at the first "VH-1 Hip-Hop Honors." He’s appeared in music videos with such artists as Missy Elliot, Usher, Madonna, Limp Bizkit and more. Es también miembro del cuerpo docente invitado en los New York City Dance Studios. Tenemos la fortuna de tener a Mr. Wiggles en REACT 2013 para ofrecer conferencias, clases en los talleres y una actuación en la Theater Edition.

THEATRE EDITION IRON SKULLS “SYNESTHESIA” (Dance-Theater)
MISTER BARCELÓ (Alicante) Show de Rap Improvisado (Freestyle)
Compañia de danza emergente de Bboys residentes en Barcelona, pero formada por bailarines de distintas partes de la península (Asturias, Valladolid, Mallorca, Logroño...) . Sus integrantes han ido formandose en distintas disciplinas y artes como Danza Contemporánea, Hip Hop, House Dance, Tap Dance, Lindy Hop, produccion musical y acrobacias. Fundada en Asturias en 2005. En REACT 2013, Iron Skulls presentan su espectáculo “Sinestesia”, una palabra que viene del griego συν-, 'junto', y αiσθησία, 'sensación'. La Sinestesia es la percepción conjunta o interferencia de varios tipos de sensaciones de diferentes sentidos en un mismo acto perceptivo. Una vez entendido lo que es la sinestesia es más sencillo entender el porqué de este nombre para un show performance de dance-theatre. Con este proyecto Iron Skulls ha creado una pieza de danza experimental que nos lleva a través de las emociones y los sentidos a un mundo post-apocalíptico. Un mundo donde sus habitantes se expresan a través de acrobacias y danza fusionándolas con los sentimientos. Un hito de la danza contemporánea.
El MC alicantino Mister Barceló se ha convertido en uno de los mejores exponentes del Rap Freestyle del momento. Su carrera comienza en el año 2006 al despertar su interés por la cultura del Hip Hop. Tan pronto comienza a escucharlo se pone a practicarlo. En un año consiguió proclamarse campeón en varias “Batallas de Gallos” (Rap improvisado o Freestyle), desde comarcales y regionales a eventos nacionales. Todo esto lo compagina con la formación del que sería su grupo en la actualidad, Mismo, formado por Mister y Mhoro. Con poca experiencia pero con mucho entusiasmo sacan adelante en 2010 el disco “Suena Diferente”, un trabajo en formato físico profesional autoeditado.
Emerging Bboying dance company based in Barcelona, but made up of dancers from different parts of the Iberian peninsula (Asturias, Valladolid, Mallorca, Logroño...). Its members have been forming in different disciplines and arts as Contemporary Dance, Hip Hop, House Dance, Tap Dance, Lindy Hop, music production and acrobatics. Founded in Asturias in 2005. In REACT 2013, Iron Skulls present their show "Synesthesia", a word that comes from the Greek συν-, 'next', and αiσθησία, 'feel'. The Synesthesia is the joint percepttion or interference of several types of sensations belonging to different senses felt in the same act of perception. Once understood what synesthesia means, it's easier to understand why this name for a show of dance-theater performance. Iron Skulls have created an experimental dance piece that takes us through the emotions and senses to a post-apocalyptic world. A world where people express themselves through dance and acrobatics and mixing both of them with feelings. A milestone of contemporary dance.
The MC Mister Barceló, from Alicante, has become one of the best Rap Freestylers at the time. His career began in 2006 when his their interest in Hip Hop Culture arose. As soon as he started to listen to Hip Hop he began to put it into practice. In a year he achieved championships in several Freestyle Battles (the Improvised Rap competitions) ranging from county and regional to national events. All this combines with the formation of his rap band, Mismo, formed by Mister and Mhoro. With little experience but lots of enthusiasm, they realease on in 2010 the album "Sounds Different", a self-published record presented in physical format.

En 2010 Mister lanza su primer trabajo en solitario, también autoeditado. Consigue gran aceptación por parte del público. En 2011 Mismo se vuelve a reunir para ofrecer una promo en formato digital, “Las apariencias engañan”. Mister ha realizado colaboraciones para proyectos de otros artistas nacionales mientras sigue componiendo en solitario. Además, desarolla una faceta de actor participando en varios videoclips y cortometrajes profesionales.
In 2010 Mister launches his first solo album, also self-published. The record gets great acceptance by the public. In 2011 Mismo reunites to offer a promo in digital format, "Las apariencias engañan”. Mister has made contributions to national projects of other artists while still composing solo. Furthermore, he is developing an actoral facet by appearing in several music videos and professional short film.

Bruce Blanchard, fundador de B.O.S.S. TEAM y director artístico de la escuela de danza BOSSDance en Gante (Bélgica) es un coreógrafo de renombre internacional, entrenador personal y bailarín con un rico historial de trabajo artístico. También es conocido por su estilo único: Hip Hop abstracto. Un auténtico hombre polifacético, tiene experiencia como director artístico de video, coreógrafo y bailarín; ha ganado varias batallas de baile (Juste Debout de Alemania en 2006, Unique Battle en Suiza 2010,...); actúa en espectáculos en directo e imparte clases (Broadway dance center de New York, en el Boogiezone de Los Angeles...). Bruce desea compartir su energía y creatividad con todos los bailarines de todos los estilos alrededor del mundo.
Esta Compañía de Danza Contemporánea tiene forma de asociación sin ánimo de lucro, la cual se fundó en Valencia en el año 2000. Su nombre homenajea al bailarín de origen francés Gerard Collíns, que fue profesor en diversos centros de Valencia y ayudó a impulsar el desarrollo de la Danza Contemporánea en la Ciudad del Turia. La asociación se financia con las cuotas de sus miembros y subvenciones de instituciones y particulares. La asociación fue nominada al Premio de las Artes Escénicas por Teatres de la Generalitat en 2003 y en 2004 recibió el Premi Micalet de las Artes Escénicas a la Mejor Contribución de Danza, por su trayectoria artística y cultural en beneficio de la divulgación de la danza.
Bruce Blanchard, founder of B.O.S.S. TEAM and Artistic Director of the dance school B.O.S.S.Dance Complex in Ghent ( Belgium) is an internationally known choreographer, personal coach and dancer with a rich artistic work record. He is also Known by his unique style: Hip Hop abstract. A true Jack-of-all-trades, has experience in video's as artistic directo, choreographer and dancer; has won several dance battles (Juste Debout Germany 2006, Unique Battle Swiss 2010,...); performs in live shows and teaches classes ( Broadway dance center NY , Boogiezone LA,...). He wants to share his energy and creativity with all dancers of all styles over the world.
This Contemporary Dance Company it's legalized as a non-profit association and was founded in Valencia in 2000. Its name pays homage to French-born dancer Gerard Collins, who taught in various centers of Valencia and helped to the development of contemporary dance in the city of Valencia. The association is funded by membership fees and grants from institutions and individuals. The association was nominated for the Performing Arts Award for Theatres of the Generalitat in 2003 and in 2004 he received the Micalet Prize for the Performing Arts for Best Contribution to Dance, recognizing his artistic and cultural career devoted to spread the knowledge of dance.

Grupo de nueva creación compuesto por veteranos músicos de Gospel procendentes de Estados Unidos, Suecia y España. Aunque por separado llevan años interpretando los clásicos de los espirituales negros por medio mundo, se estrenan como nuevo grupo en el REACT. Con ustedes, Always In Spirit (A.I.S.) Gospel. Newly created group made up of veteran Gospel musicians hailing from USA, Sweden and Spain. Althoug separately they have been performing for years the classic black spirituals songs all over the world, they are making their debut as a new group at REACT. El “Human beatbox” es el arte de imitar los sonidos de una batería o caja de ritmos con la boca, a veces para servir de base a los raps de un MC, a veces como disciplina propia. Markooz está considerado el mejor Beatboxer español de los últimos años. http://markoozbeatbox.com/ Human Beatbox it's the art of imitating the sounds of a drumset or beatbox with the mouth, sometimes to serve as musical base for a MC to rap over, sometimes as a discipline itself. Markooz is consider as the top Spain Beatboxer in the last years.

During the REACT week many people come to enjoy Alicante and to participate in the event. With these activities we want them to know the city and its incredible leisure offers.
