Props & Costumes

Props: Within my documentary because I was filming real events I did not need to use many props. However, one scene in my documentary was made up in order to enhance the story of the documentary. For the ‘strike’ scene I made three wooden boards which I designed and then painted, in order for the scene to look more realistic. And although the rest of my scenes didn’t include props I strategically placed the people I was interviewing. For instance, I placed ‘MP’ Wez Ruthen standing in front of building in a strong and powerful stance. This is because he was for the arts being cut and then I placed the people who were for the arts staying, in a more casual and relaxing environment. Such as, Mark and Chris sat down in the media room.

Costumes: Likewise with my props, in the making of the documentary I did not need to organise many costumes as the footage was mostly real life events. However, in the scene where I interviewed a pretend MP I did ask my actor ( Wez Ruthen ) to bring in a full suit to wear. I asked this in order for the interview to look more realistic. The rest of the people appearing in my documentary were wearing there normal clothes for the occasion. For instance, Mark Neild the head teacher is wearing a suit as he is the head teacher of Samuel Ward. Whereas, the people who took part in the ‘strike’ are wearing casual autumnal clothes.
