Pavilion PROJECT Poli_Ground A strong architecture that makes itself humble in comparison of the city, an architecture that becomes territory. The design of the exhibition pavilion for the celebration of the Polytechnic of Milan’s 150th anniversary celebrates, through a floating platform of 200 meters ( 0.6 m from the ground) that connects the rectory to avenue Romagna, discoveries, figures, researches and the successes achieved over the years by this university, through three themes: city, life and research. A time line accompanies the visit chanting temporally historic scenarios of the university, as a connection to the city through the proposed architecture that creates the opportunity for a new cohesion, a new identity and a future sign that may remain tangible and habitable from the city.
WAC2012 - Workshop PADIGLIONE DI MILANO POLITECNICA Milano (IT) Planners: Alice Mento, Francesca Bertana, Elena Civelli, Roberta Crivellari, Claudia D. Meroni, Marta Pagin, Claudia Sella
The route runs through a time line made of corten inserts applied on a surface in earth-established, each of which corresponds to one year in the history of 150 years of the Polytechnic. In years in which there are significant episodes produced by polytechnic minds, which influenced the way of life, the city and the research, they are listed on the corresponding stage time: the year, the name of the work and information panels or interactive installations. The exhibition system is therefore proposed to make visitors active participants in the use of the exhibition elements.

Urban PROJECT 3/3 Ponte Lambro
Politecnico di Milano_Urban and planning design, 2011/2012
The project aims to network Ponte Lambro with the surrounding area: to the south with the municipality of San Donato and west by the district Santa Giulia-Montecity. One of the aims is the creation of horizontal crossings, the absence of which, today, emphasizes the separation between the 70’s neighborhoods and the village. Because of the absence of a system of public spaces, the intent is to provide a continuum of public spaces and crossings in the neighborhood that can guarantee both the connection between the historical village and public housing and the one with the surrounding urban fabric. The project is divided into four parts allowing the construction at different stages and by different planners. The built is divided into a system of bases ( 1 or 2 floors) and medium-high buildings (5 or 7 floors). The green systems, the park towards the east bypass and the linear park bordering Ponte Lambro, come within the built, defining blocks built and public spaces. A system of pedestrian and cycle paths crosses the built in north-south and east-west. The ground floors of the residential buildings consist of plates that host services, parking, ateliers and commercial spaces.

Public spaces PROJECT Afterhours Milan - San Lorenzo
The project addresses the issue of public space within the Milan area, space as jungle, opportunity, change, community. The project started with the goal to leverage public areas collected and unused or poorly used in Milan city center offering an intervention aimed at change and opening of public space for young people, center “engine” of today’s society. AFTERHOURS arises precisely as an “outside time” place, “time out” that is accessible 24 hours a day, a chain of site-specific interventions that create one, a path that winds in a centerpiece of the evening Milan during but that is unattractive during day. The intervention tries to unify four areas, discontinued by location, by nature and by presence of public infrastructure, interpreted as limitations. Materials using in the operation are natural: wood, stabilized earth, vegetation or punctual urban jungle. The route runs through leisure spaces, playground, cultural institutions, entertainment, socialization, relax.

THE PROJECT URBAN JUNGLE A wooden structure that is appended to the existing blind wall. Geometric elements are used to create new leisure areas and, at the same time, provides a privileged point of view towards the square below, which has a surface stabilized earth, a kind of arena, able to accommodate different activities . The vegetation invades the structure giving it a wild and providing shade areas.
BOOK SHARING Walkway’s totem overlooking the park and is intended to accommodate the book sharing. It is the head of the project and developed through a stairs that houses shelves with books in the central compartment.
WOODEN HILL
STAGE The platform is raised above the share of the city and offers multiple uses. It’s characterized mainly by seating systems furniture, wooden cubes that offer the possibility of being moved along the rails and be merged, giving rise to a multiple system that can receive more people; hinged surfaces that allow the creation of sessions to the ground.
The creation of an artificial elevation ground characterizes the part over the route of the tram tracks. It results in geometric tiers to the existing business, a drop in organic wood to the square. This increase provides an optimal perspective for attending events, day and night, within the system stabilized earth.
Afterhours Public spaces project
RUNWAY The runway runs along the columns of San Lorenzo and presents a lighting system on the ground for its entire length on both sides. Its main function is to make visible the connection between the spaces outside the gates of the colonnade. Both systems have their own internal technologies that allow for lighting systems, electrical outlets for use music devices and laptops. The displacement of the cubes can be through a manual push or through the use of pedals placed inside them.

Architectural PROJECT NEW HO[S]TEL_A new way of accommodation in Cascina Merlata
Politecnico di Milano_ Master of Science Degree in Architecture - Building Architecture Thesis 2012/2013
The project is included in Cascina Merlata area(between the future settlement of Expo 2015, M1 underground and Rho-Pero exhibition center), subject to an existing redevelopment project. The project calls into question the head of the park (two plates with a commercial vocation), affected by a series of critical, particularly from the point of view of urban relationships (including poor relationship with the park, excessive ground occupation and invasiveness of knots road system) providing on one hand the construction of a front hard and compact to the highway, on other hand the articulation of a more porous front and rarefied to the park and form the new head with a range of public services, cultural and leisure activities. In order to engage urban relations in a larger scale and to address the growing demand for business accommodation in anticipation of the Expo, the project introduces and develops the theme of a tower hotel, experiencing new forms and types of temporary hospitality “low cost” in response to the changing needs of the contemporary.
Supervisor: Prof. Maria Grazia Folli
Some basic principles related to different project scales: - single accommodation scale: spaces’ flexibility, transformative capacity over time and potential personalization; - building scale: definition of a real typological scheme able to aggregate different accommodation between them, able to respond to the diversity in demand not only in terms of size but also in quality; - in the distribution inside the building: multiplication of access paths, rarefaction and opening of the circulation spaces, hybridization between circulation and public spaces, in a few words to consider the distribution not as a simple link functional, but as a prom. The top of the tower that contains a gym and a restaurant, with its pitched and large openings, assumes the role of “lantern”, a recognizable sign at the project and territory scale.

Urban PROJECT Givisiez: the park in the center The strategy is to densify the area, keeping in the center of the site a large open space, green space located between the existing neighborhood of Beauséjour and the new project. This space, which will become the reference space for the entire neighborhood of Chassotte, has several features: it builds a connection between the green landscape to the east and the neighborhoods north of Chassotte: a large and continuous public space between the Moncor forest and the future opening of the A12 motorway; it is a park for the whole neighborhood, designed as a piece of countryside within the city. An open space where animals can graze, equipped for small crops, a space where you can play and rest on a green continuous surface, which also houses sports fields; it’s a meeting place between the urban and rural life.

THE “CRETTO” The built is dense and compact, interrupted by fractures of open space. Urban form that offers great variety and richness of situations. With offices, small businesses, bars, restaurants this neighborhood can become a reference point for the life of Beasejour, just 15 minutes’ walk from Freiburg. In the new district a series of public or semi-public spaces, paved or green and mostly pedestrian, defines the transition between the built and the park. Buildings, modeled as quartz’s blocks, offer many points of view on the open space and landscape and also create an intimate and protected space, suitable for home life. Volumes change in height and gradually descending to the park with terraces, landscaped gardens and roof gardens. Towards the highway, higher volumes form a “bastion” for offices, which acts as a noise shield and create an urban front along the way. The Cretto’s structure extends beyond the highway and offers on the Public Transport’s website a series of compact blocks and a new urban facade, consisting of a taller building services and trade, which faces the street of the Jura.

Urban PROJECT The “boulevard” as reference space The project site is located in an intermediate position between city and landscape. If on one hand this part of the city is highly integrated with landscape, on the other, lacks a clear and coherent urban form. Il sito di progetto si trova in una posizione intermedia tra la città e il paesaggio. The densification planned program offers the opportunity to review the urban edge of the Geneve agglomeration and give a clearer definition of the boundary between city and countryside. The project works with curtain walls along the boulevard and in the background creates a number of exceptions (green stripes and variations of volumes in the middle). It aims to strengthen the concept of Boulevard as unified space and reference for the whole quarter: three-dimensional space defined by an open urban front and animated by linear functions located on the ground floors of the buildings. The first two floors of the buildings overlook the interior space and host non-residential activities (neighborhood stores, workshops, indoor sports small bars, cafes). The area hosts mineral underground parking of 3 floors. Two courses are offered parallel to Boulevard, which complement and enrich the system of the avenue and make clearer the hierarchy of public spaces in the neighborhood; the central public space is interpreted as the new center of the entire urban area of Ambilly. Green space is an active component of the urban structure of the district and the project is a link between the different parts of the city, but also has a structuring role of the urban parts. The courtyards towards the park are organized with a public and a private space that define a flexible and changeable space, where the various “micro-landscapes” private (gardens, vegetable gardens, orchards) generate a general framework highly distinctive. The built is organized through simple repetition of volumes: blocks and linear buildings, which are up to 15 meters deep to ensure that housing have double facing.

Urban PROJECT Plateau d’Agy The project is divided into eleven blocks, which are distributed in the following functions: residential, offices and trade. The strategy is to densify the area, keeping a large public space in the center of the blocks, a multifunctional space that includes a bike lane, a pedestrian walkway and spaces for other functions. This space is activated by the functions located in the ground floors of the buildings that face on it, in the existing blocks space assumes the minimum thickness (pedestrian and cycle path), while in the project blocks encompasses the space of functions and creates a variable grid of trees.

Urban PROJECT PUZZLE BUBBLE
Ideas competition “New urban park area ex Boschetti” Padova (IT) 2015
The project aims to integrate within an urban strategy of intervention aimed at restoring in Padova the image of a city through the rediscovery of the elements that have always characterize it: water, public parks and the monumental buildings. “Puzzle Bubble” arises in this scenario as one of the possible elements able to open a debate on what really can be built in the city, working on the redevelopment of existing buildings and areas outside the walls. These urban spaces are located mostly in the proximity of the old town and, if thought of as a synergistic system, may become the new key elements to redesign the public space in Padova.
Planners: arch. Alice Mento, Enrico Baldi, arch. Claudio Bonfanti, arch. Emanuele Bruno, arch. Roberta Crivellari
Puzzle Bubble gives shape to a set of multiple connections, first of all, the union, from Portello portal, between the university area along the two banks of the Piovego and Corso Garibaldi, which continues to the historic center and to the bus station and train city station. In this regional scale, the project involves an upgrading of existing path through a redefinition of the cycling and walking space, as well as a revitalization of the green spaces along the river bank. In addition to the longitudinal connections, the design of a new pedestrian bridge, generated by a bubble of the puzzle, allowing the river crossing and the direct contact with the other side of town: Park of the Walls and its monuments. The aim of Puzzle Bubble is not to oppose drastically to the existing but try to take cue, look for points of contact and similarities but with the addition of a contemporary system linked to the use of public spaces. As well as being adjacent to the Scrovegni park, Boschetti area takes full advantage of the presence of water,Piovego river, that enables the use of water as an element characterizing the park. The project is structured through an overlap of different layers that can respond to various needs. These layers are: definition of the land, relationship with water, and use of wood to define full and empty spaces, places of shadow and light.

Bench PROJECT Daisy - Design your stop! The project aim is create a public space in the name of freedom of routes (on foot, by bike, with carriages, etc.) and variety of use. The system complies with the configuration of the square Foceverde-Latin Lido, overlapping harmoniously; the same applies to the system of the green, maintained and protected with a management program and replacement of the specimens which require them. Under the existing pavement it will be stretched a network of underground technology, which will bring energy (light, electricity, data, etc.). The square it’s designed like a free space with the possibility of setting up exhibitions and public events. The bench is composed of a central fixed element, a steel pole which culminates with a system of LED lighting, to which are attached three mobile elements that make up the sessions. Each session is connected to the pole by two bolt mechanisms, also in steel: an element is inserted into the pole and is one which enables the bench to rotate, the other is needed for connecting the first with the seating element . The seat’s structure is formed by two steel pipes with rectangular cross section 25 x 42 mm with profile of 2 mm. On this structure are bolted to the wooden slats of 100 x 30 x 400 mm, made from scrap wood pallets from construction sites and coated with liquid glass for protection during the winter season. Beneath each bench will be placed a circular element of linoleum, with center pole and within 2 m, to protect the floor below by the rotation of the sessions. The bench consists of two identical elements and one specular, this is to give the ability for users to create a kind of urban living room approaching the speculars. The central element of the session can be configured to accommodate different functions: lighting, shading, electric socket / wi-fi point, vegetal element (the latter, by changing the central system so that considers the growth of the trunk). It’s possible place solar panels to power the lighting devices or electrical outlets, so that the system can become self-sustaining. The project is also designed to promote sociability in public spaces, with this objective we developed a lighting system that would guarantee the necessary visual comfort and managed to create a comfortable and relaxing space.

OTHERSIDE
Planners: arch. Alice Mento, Enrico Baldi, arch. Claudio Bonfanti, arch. Emanuele Bruno, arch. Roberta Crivellari
The project is focused on creating an underpass of the train station in order to set up a link between two distinct areas in Libramont city. In effect, it allows to transform the railway station in a shared and dynamic environment. OTHERSIDE aim is to connect the railway station, dwellings, offices, shops and local services through public spaces giving a new birth to Libramont. OTHERSIDE point of view is to define two different ways of living: the urban space of the Train Station quarter and the nature space of the south area. The reinforcing of the urban structure gives a new image of the administrative role of Libramont thanks to pedestrian pattern. Indeed the detail of the pedestrian pattern is the inclined ground, which connects the ground floor and the underpass, identifying the new square station at basement level. The south area is characterized by a residential zone surrounded by a park which ensures not only the chance to live close to nature, but even to join different parts of the city: the exhibition area, the new heart of Libramont, sports facility, the library and cultural centre.

As a project required, a kindergarten and its kiss and drive included will be built. To avoid traffic flow linked to bus station and underpass, OTHERSIDE project places kindergarten far from them.

NORTH SIDE
05 GROUND FLOOR PLAN
The creation of a new street defines two different north quarter sides: the first one is close to the railway and the second one connects the city. The pedestrian pattern is characterized by a specific “grain” of open spaces which generates a mixed-used urban dense reality and lot of perspective views. This is confirmed by an tight organization of new buildings as a train depot.

street, as well the new buildings, will be built parallel the railway without interfering this peaceful spot.
SOUTH SIDE
07 GROUND FLOOR PLAN
The south area is characterized by a residential zone surrounded by a park which ensures not only the chance to live close to nature, but even to join different parts of the city: the exhibition area, the new heart of Libramont, sports facility, the library and cultural centre. One of OTHERSIDE project aims is to create and conserve the park. Indeed the new street, as well the new buildings, will be built parallel the railway without interfering this peaceful spot. The masterplan is based on the creation of 6 “tiles” along the new road. Each “tile” is composed by different blocks: 1_ The block between the street and the railway will be used mainly for commercial and administrative functions; 2_ The closer block to the park will be used mainly for dwellings; they are characterized by a semi-private space suitable for either building access or a public pedestrian crossing. Moreover each block is built on 1 m. raised platform to define a boundary line between park and semi-private space. The phasing planned is following: 1_ the construction of the park and its inclined plane; 2_ defining of operating area through planting trees whose role is to reduce train noise; 3_ the beginning of block construction; (trees will be recycled for other urban spaces); 4_ conclusion of block construction.
