CONCEPT The material pollution of our oceans was at the starting of my personal research. Thus my aim was to find possibilities to reduce plastic or replace it by using eco-friendly alternatives. I came to the conclusion that the aspect that needs to be changed the most in order to provoke a real change, is our perception of waste. We live in a society characterised by rapid change, which is reflected in our consumer lifestyle and use of single-use objects and the quick replacement through newer, better versions. However, if we change our perspective of the ‘waste’ we produce, we can recognise its value and possible use in everyday life.

CONCEPT MODEL: BROKEN SOUVENIR

KINTSUGI By repairing broken ceramics it’s possible to give a new lease of life to pottery that becomes even more refined thanks to its “scars”. The Japanese art of kintsugi teaches that broken objects are not something to hide but to display with pride. The kintsugi technique suggests many things. We shouldn’t throw away broken objects. When an object breaks, it doesn’t mean that it is no more useful. Its breakages can become valuable
