3x4 Plaça del Carme Residential Buildings Arch 475 - Architectural Design and Exploration Collaboration with Jessica Duschean Fall 2019 The location for this project is Plaça del Carme, in les Corts neighbourhood in Barcelona. The site consisted two irregular shaped plots on opposite corners of Plaça del Carme. The purpose was to design a mix-used building for living and working with each housing unit having an associated working space. 3 X 4 meters is a unit of living. Throughout the project, a 3 x 4-meter grid is utilized to serve the different functions of working and living in the modern age. The way everyone wants to work is just as varied as the way everyone wants to live. This building allows for flexibility in usage. Each of these 3 x 4 units can be anything from an execu-tive’s office to a child’s playroom. The ground floors focus on activating the existing center square and providing varied workspaces. The ground floor is set back to enlarge the square as well as encourage outside traffic. With this proj-ect, we hope to re-animate la Placa del Carme and offer a solution to the growing dichotomy between working and living.

GRADIENT BELOW Allerton Park Artist’s Village and Art Center Arch 373 - Architecture Design in the Landscape Fall 2018 My goal for this project was to create a practical and accessible space while incorporating existing works of inspiration in Allerton Park, Monticello IL. After analyzing high and low activity areas throughout the park in my cartography, I was able to identify different landmarks tourist spent the majority of their time observing. For this reason, I chose to locate my design underneath the statue of the Centaur. My design maximizes the existing topography of the land and creates a new form of activty below ground level. Building below the statue allows the park to keep its original flow of activity.

MARKET HALL Market Hall, Champaign, IL Arch 274 - Strategies of Architecure Design Spring 2017 The purpose of this design process was to create a permanent market hall for the Champaign Farmer’s Market in downtown Champaign, IL. The process consisted of an exploration of a public market space, finding a connection between the producer, con-sumer, and the community. The building design consist of abstract polygonal shapes and angles throughout the whole space. The private spaces form different configura-tions for each room, where each angle lines up with one another. Furthermore, the el-evated roof also correlates with the shapes of the private rooms. The polygons of the roof connect with each room and creates an abstract shape based off the angles. The market stalls also mimic the way the private rooms are structured. The overall principle of this design was to generate a structure consisting of abstract quadrilateral spaces that also created an abstract movement throughout the space.

HERE APARTMENTS Precedent Study of Here Apartments Champaign, IL Arch 232 - Structural Fundamentals Spring 2018 HERE Apartments are currently located at 308 E. Green St in Champaign Illinois. The purpose of this project was to understand the structural aspects of the large high rise steel structure. The task was to recreate drawings of this building. The building featured many key elements that were used as a learning tool. Detailing everything from the caissons to the parapet was extremely intregal to seeing a complete building system. For this assignment we made sense of partially completely plans for the structure. This self guided project taught detailing to a professional level. Completed in Revit, it also helped to make one experienced with a sometimes complex program.
