By Chris Reeder, Lifestyle Director APRIL AT TOSCANA

April is an awesome month to be at Toscana! The weather is perfect, traffic is easy and there are plenty of activities to join. This month our event calendar has some interesting new activities, as well as a few of our favorites. The Murder Mystery Dinner is scheduled for Saturday, April 21 and we will be looking for resident “suspects” to interrogate. Please stop by my office if you are interested in playing a part. If you haven’t been to a Murder Mystery, it’s a team event; a great time to meet new folks or come as a team of six. Musical Bingo should be a ton of fun with a 1960’s music theme. Also, resident Keith London will be sharing his expertise in antique wristwatches on Saturday, April 28. As always, I’d love to learn your thoughts around new activities we can organize for the community - just stop by the office or send an email!

CONCIERGE CORNER By Alicja Davis, Concierge

Page Springs Cellars Toscana Residents frequently visit me inquiring about a wine tour or wine tasting experience. I decided to share the article I wrote a couple of years ago featuring one of my favorite spots in Arizona - Page Springs Cellars.

is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the breathtaking landscape of the property. You can order a picnic basket right from the winery and try some delightful wine blends accompanied by quality appetizers. Page Spring vineyards specialize in Rhone style wines made from Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvedre grapes. Guests can enjoy a wide selection of wine and the tasting includes up to five wines in the souvenir style glass. Property tours are offered every Friday and Sunday to get a better knowledge on the wine making process, its history and wine-making culture. Weekends are usually busy with the local musicians playing live music in the quaint setting of the tasting room. Page Springs and the nearby wineries make a perfect getaway for those who enjoy pristine beauty of Arizona, gourmet food and most delicious, smoothest wine. Nothing better than a picnic beneath the trees in the heart of the beautiful Oak Creek Canyon.

Arizona’s high desert climate and elevation provide ultimate conditions for growing exceptional wine grapes. There are several wineries in Arizona located in various microclimates throughout the state like Jerome, Sedona or Kingman. Page Springs Cellars is nestled next to the picturesque landscape of Oak Creek Canyon just fifteen minutes south of Sedona. The winery is the place to visit whether you’re a novice or wine enthusiast. Visitors entering Page Springs Cellars will be welcomed by a cozy cottage extending into a deck surrounded by stunning views of Verde Valley. The scenic terrace beside the creek

MANAGER TIDBITS

By Dick Rosenhagen, Community Manager At the March Board of Directors Meeting, the Board set the Board Meeting schedule for the remainder of the year. The Board also decided to have quarterly Board Meetings to allow our three committees enough time to research and start making solid recommendations to the Board. As a result the Board set the following Board Meeting schedule for the remainder of the year. • • •

June 28, 2018 at 9 am September 27, 2018 at 9 am December 2018, date to be determined

Note, the Board will likely have one or two other meetings during the year and notice will be sent if there is a need for the Board to meet. In addition to the quarterly Board Meetings, the Board agreed to have quarterly informational non-decision making Management and Owner Board Member Meetings that will be called Board and Management Workshops. These meetings will focus on a particular topic like Landscape, Association Financials 101, etc. and it will be opened up to for residents to ask questions to the management team and Owner Board Members. The months that these meetings will occur will be May, August, November, and January. The meeting dates and times will be sent out once they have been determined.

ADMINISTRATIVE UPDATES by Kevin Wiegel, Administrative Assistant Parking in Handicap Stalls

RESIDENT GROUPS, CLUBS & CLASSES

During the busy winter months at Toscana, it is common for us to have more vehicles with handicap credentials than we do the rest of the year. The following guidelines should help everyone understand our parking policy more clearly:

BILLIARDS CLUB: Wednesdays at 1:00pm, Billiards Room in PG. Contact: Lynn at 602-301-5010

Handicap parking stalls have to, by law, remain open on a “first come, first serve” basis. This means we can not assign them to a specific person nor can one person claim them.

BINGO: April 11 at 6:00pm, PG $6 per card, Contact: Marge at 480-585-0494

BILLIARDS HAPPY HOUR: Mondays at 5pm in PG BYOB

BOOK CLUB: April 18 in PV, 6:30pm

A guest with a valid handicap placard or license plate can park in any available surface handicap or non designated stall.

CHAIR YOGA: Wednesdays at 11 am in PV $5/Person/Session COFFEE SOCIAL: Each Wednesday and Friday at 9:00am in PG Kitchen

If a resident can not find a handicap stall available in the parkade, they are welcome to park in the surface handicap stalls. If the surface handicap stalls are full a properly credentialed resident vehicle can park in any surface stall (barring the fifteen minute mail pick up zones or fire lanes). Handicap stalls are not for vehicle storage! If you will be leaving for weeks or months at a time, you are required to park your vehicle in your designated stall, assigned to the unit. Lastly, if you see cars without handicap designation parking in the handicap stalls, please call management immediately. We will have the police ticket them accordingly. On a side note, please register your pets if you haven’t already.
