The U.S. Census Bureau is the federal government’s largest statistical agency. We are dedicated to providing current facts and figures about America’s people, places, and economy. Federal law protects the confidentiality of all individual responses the Census Bureau collects.

Six regional 2020 Census offices and 40 area census offices open

The U.S. Constitution requires that each decade we take a count— or a census—of America’s population.

• It determines how many representatives each state gets in Congress and is used to redraw district boundaries. Redistricting counts are sent to the states by March 31, 2021.

Public response (online, phone, or mail) begins

• Communities rely on census statistics to plan for a variety of resident needs including new roads, schools, and emergency services.

• Businesses use census data to determine where to open places to shop. Each year, the federal government distributes more than $675 billion to states and communities based on Census Bureau data. In 2020, we will implement new technology to make it easier than ever to respond to the census. For the first time, you will be able to respond online, by phone, as well as by mail. We will use data that the public has already provided to reduce followup visits. 2020 CENSUS

What You Need to Know In preparation for the 2020 Census, address canvasing has begun in neighborhoods across the country. Census takers will be knocking on doors to verify addresses in an effort to ensure an accurate and complete count. Census takers will never ask for social security numbers, mothers’ maiden names or credit card numbers and this information should never be provided. Each Census taker will carry an ID badge, bag, and either a phone, iPad or laptop – all clearly marked with a Census Bureau logo. If you still have questions, call 800923-8282 to speak with a local Census Bureau representative to verify that a Census taker is currently canvasing your area.

is to fill out the 2020 Census questionnaire online, by phone, or by mail as soon as you receive your invitation to participate. For more information about Census takers, visit https://2020census.gov/en/census-takers.html.

WHY NOT

TONIGHT?

Additionally, an online interactive map shows the areas that the Census Bureau plans to send address canvassers. Toscana residents will notice our neighborhood is not currently highlighted as an area Census workers are planning to visit. However, if you own property elsewhere, you may notice Census employees around your community! By April 1, 2020, all homes will receive an invitation to participate in the 2020 Census. In and Around Toscana DANI'S DIGEST

By Dani Wall, Administrative Assistant The Sicilian Butcher

Recently, wanting to try out a new restaurant, I ventured out and found a new place called The Sicilian Butcher. After realizing how close to Toscana it was, I decided it was too good to not share with everyone here. This is the perfect place to go with family, on a date, a friends night out, or just to simply have a nice meal by yourself. It has something for everyone! Save it for a cheat night though, this is definitely the place to load up on carbs. To start, the ambiance is wonderful- with a uniquely decorated interior, and a well-lit romantic patio that will be wonderful to sit at once the weather cools down. The service was quick and friendly, and our server was welltrained on the menu. She informed us of the happy hour deals, and we enjoyed a Peroni Lager for $5.50. We ordered an appetizer from the menu category “Pane Cunzatu,” which translates to “dressed bread.” We decided on a Sicilian-Style Bruschetta Board. You get to choose 4 for $15 when you choose this menu item. We ended up enjoying: 1. Whipped goat cheese, roasted peppers, and herb pesto 2. Fig jam, charred Brie, and pistachio 3. Ricotta, prosciutto, honey, and hazelnut 4. Tomato, basil, and garlic Let me tell you, I was already starting to feel full after trying just two halves. The flavors were fantastically paired. We had already ordered a meal to split after our appetizer, and it was well-worth the overly-full feeling I had once we dug in. The Lamb Meatballs (ground lamb, mint, onions, cloves, and feta cheese) came to the table warm and placed on a pillow of pappardelle, cooked al dente, and topped with marinara. It was one of the best plates I’ve ever eaten.

Toscana Living | 12

After our fantastic dinner, we walked to the attached inrestaurant bakery, The Sicilian Baker. While we didn’t have room to eat anything else, the bakery had a beautiful selection of pastries, Italian gelato, cookies, cannolis, breads, and tarts that I will definitely be saving room for on my next trip! We ordered a cup of house-drip coffee (which was delicious), and sat in the bakery to enjoy the rest of our night. They are located at the corner of Tatum and Greenway. Super close, and definitely worth going to. I highly recommend trying this new place out!

CHRIS'S CORNER

By Chris Reeder, Assistant Manager Resident Workshop Every quarter the Association hosts a Resident Workshop. The topics are always interesting and educational, and all residents are invited to attend. The September workshop is scheduled at 9am on September 26- upstairs in the Building 10 amenity center. Our presenter for the upcoming workshop will be our master insurance broker, Mike DiNino, from the LaBarre/Osknee Insurance agency. Mike will discuss the insurance needs of the community as well as give some guidelines for individual homeowners. Additionally, Mike will review the responsibilities of both the association and the individual resident policies in the event of damage. He will be available to answer your questions at the end of the workshop.

damage responsibility to a specific unit. In this case, your own insurance policy should be able to cover any potential damage. Plumbing questions tend to be frequent here in the officeand many times questions come up after an incident has occurred. As a precaution, it is recommended that residents carry Sewer & Drain coverage in the event of a back up. Residents should ensure appropriate coverage is in place for individual units. For more information, you may want to review the important documentation by clicking on the links below: What a Unit Owner Needs Bare Walls Certificate of Insurance

As a brief overview, the Association carries a master policy that covers such areas as amenity centers and common homeowner elements. The Toscana Condo Master Insurance Policy is an annual policy. Our master policy is available on the ToscanaLiving website, and hard copy is available at the Palazzo Centro office. You may want to provide a copy of the master policy to your insurance agent, to ensure there are no coverage gaps. The Association holds a Bare Walls policy which does not cover the interior of individual units. In layman’s terms-everything in your unit should be covered under your individual homeowners insurance policy. This is important to know, especially with the stacked plumbing trunk lines Toscana has in our buildings. Water damage could occur in your unit through no fault of your own, and it is often impossible to assign

It is extremely important for each Toscana Homeowner to be aware of what is and what is not covered in our overall condominium policy. An insurance surprise is not a pleasant one, and we want to provide every opportunity to educate Toscana residents possible. If you can’t attend the Workshop, make sure you check out the video link* on our website. *Link added within a week of workshop date
