Lotto NRFL 2015 Welcome After the excitement of the Easter weekend double header, it’s business as usual in the Lotto NRFL this weekend but there is still an action-packed schedule to look forward to! In the programme this week we preview Round 4 of each of the divisions. The league tables are now starting to take shape and we have also included the golden boot standings so you can find out who is busting the net in each division. We also feature photos from Phototek of the Easter weekend drama Three Kings United’s 3-1 win over Eastern Suburbs in the Women’s Premier, Takapuna’s 4-0 definitive win over Ngaruawahia United in Division One and Papatoetoe’s 5-1 triumph against Lynn-Avon United in Division Two. We are still missing a few squad lists, so if your team is missing please remind your coach or team manager to get it to us so we can include it for next weekend, and those on the sideline will know who they are watching! Our new Lotto NRFL-dedicated social media has already proven popular with many. When you’re at the games this weekend, we’d love to get updates from you, tag us @LottoNRFL and make sure you like/follow us on Facebook and Twitter! Good luck for the weekend!

Round 4
East Coast Bays vs Central United Bay City Park | Saturday 11 April | Kick-off: 2.45pm | Referee: Cory Mills, Assistant Referees: Glen Lochrie, Stephen Merriman Neither side will be pleased with their respective starts to the season, particularly East Coast Bays. Their titlewinning days appear well and truly behind them after picking up just one point from their first three matches while Central have fared only slightly better, claiming one win so far. The points here will therefore be highly sought after with Central turning to Finn Cochran and Regont Murati, who have both scored twice, for inspiration.
vs
Three Kings United vs Melville United Keith Hay Park | Satuday 11 April | Kick-off: 2.45pm | Referee: Anna-Marie Keighley, Assistant Referees: Allan Wilson, Aiden Moffatt These teams are also in great need of a positive outcome after starting sluggishly. Three Kings appear to have enough quality to begin climbing the table but the prospects are bleaker for newly-promoted Melville, who already seem set for a relegation battle. All of their three goals have been scored by Kieran Frewen so coach Steve Williams will be looking for more of his charges to provide a threat.
vs
Eastern Suburbs vs Onehunga Sports Madills Farm | Saturday 11 April | Kick-off: 2.45pm | Referee: Daniel Cook, Assistant Referees: Andrew Kite, Steven Black Suburbs have played one game less than most other sides on their return to the top flight and have therefore done well to be sitting in the middle of the table. Sports have had a classic ‘mixed’ start to the season, losing one, drawing one and winning one so the favourites here are hard to identify. Ben Vidaic has done most of the damage for Suburbs, notching three of his side’s four goals.
vs
Bay Olympic vs Glenfield Rovers Olympic Park | Saturday 11 April | Kick-off: 2.45pm | Referee: Chris Kerr, Assistant Referees: James Ashford, Pat Barrett This is the highlight of the round as it brings together two of the division’s heavyweight clubs and both are in good form after making undefeated starts. Rovers will be full of confidence after thumping local rivals East Coast Bays 5-1 while Bay Olympic are searching for their second win after being held to a draw at Waitakere. Jared Colligan is the danger man for the Bay after scoring at least once in every round.
vs
Birkenhead United vs Waitakere City Shepherds Park | Saturday 11 April | Kick-off: 2.45pm | Referee: Carl Watkins, Assistant Referees: Makr Fisher, Greg Woo Given the struggles of last season, Waitakere will be delighted with their opening to the campaign as they are yet to lose and are tucked in just behind the early leaders. The experienced Brian Shelley has helped shore up a defence that has conceded just twice but it will be tested by the likes of Birkenhead strike pair Adam Dickinson and Mikhail Bredeveldt.
vs
Hamilton Wanderers v Western Springs Porritt Stadium | Sunday 12 April | Kick-off: 2.45pm | Referee: Hayden Tutbury, Assistant Referees: Andy Holdsworth, Steve Bland Springs have given a good account of themselves in their debut Premier League season but are yet to win after drawing their two matches. It will be a big ask to pick up their first three-pointer on the road to the league leaders but this is exactly the kind of challenge Neil Emblen’s side have been building towards in their rise up the divisions. Anything less than victory would be a disappointment for Wanderers, who boast joint golden boot leader Jama Boss.

Round 4
Fencibles United vs Papatoetoe AFC William Green Domain | Friday 10 April | Kick-off: 7pm | Referee: TBC, Assistant Referees: Aiden Moffatt, Caleb Moffatt
vs
As the only Friday evening fixture in the entire NRFL, all attention will turn to William Green Domain as Fencibles look to get their season back on track. The hosts have started in alarming fashion, failing to score and conceding a division-worst 13 goals in their three successive losses. Meeting Papatoetoe at home offers a good opportunity for redemption though as the visitors have suffered two defeats and their squad has been badly affected by injuries.
Forrest Hill Milford vs Glenfield Rovers Becroft Park | Sunday 12 April | Kick-off: 1pm | Referee: Johanna O’Connor, Assistant Referees: Kieran Withers, Chris Casey
vs
This meeting between last year’s champions and runners-up is undoubtedly the highlight of the women’s action and there is likely to be no shortage of goals as Glenfield try to contend with their free-scoring neighbours. Forrest Hill were shocked in being thumped by Three Kings on the opening day but have bounced back immediately with 7-0 and 8-0 wins. Rovers hit their first stumbling block last week in losing 2-1 to Eastern Suburbs.
Claudelands Rovers vs Lynn-Avon United Galloway Park | Sunday 12 April | Kick-off: 1pm | Referee: Tom Woo,
vs
Assistant Referees: Greg Woo, TBC The Lynn-Avon defence is in for a busy one in this encounter as the Claudelands strike force has begun the campaign in hot form with Tayla Christensen scoring four times and Helen Collins and Bethany Witt netting three each. In contrast, Lynn-Avon have found scoring a real problem, having struck just once in their three matches.
Norwest United vs Three Kings United
vs
Huapai Reserve | Sunday 12 April | Kick-off: 1pm | Referee: Caleb Moffatt, Assistant Referees: Free Diao, Brandon Day Norwest have made a good fist of their introduction to this level, competing well since being overwhelmed by Claudelands in the first round. They followed that crushing defeat up with a win and a draw but now face another of the league’s heavyweights so will find the going a lot tougher. Three Kings are the only undefeated side in the competition and it would be a big surprise if they weren’t able to continue their winning run at Huapai Reserve.
vs
Eastern Suburbs vs Western Springs AFC Madills Farm | Sunday 12 April | Kick-off: 1pm | Referee: Jeremy Ferguson, Assistant Referees: TBC, Fernando Karam This fixture is traditionally one of the matches of the season and is likely to have even more bite than normal after the player movements of the off season. With much of last year’s Suburbs side joining coach Rico Wilson in heading to Springs, this game effectively pits the 2014 Suburbs line-up against their successors and there will therefore be plenty of interest in the outcome.

Round 4
Forrest Hill Milford vs Takapuna AFC Becroft Park | Saturday 11 April | Kick-off: 2.45pm | Referee: Ben Norman, Assistant Referees: Nick Kang, Gareth Jacobs These sides are separated by only a few kilometres and are also in close proximity on the table at the moment with Forrest Hill occupying fifth and Takapuna just one spot further back. Forrest Hill go into the weekend in better form after sweeping Mt Albert aside 4-0 but Takapuna possess one of the division’s sharpest shooters in four-goal Tommy Miller.
vs
Manurewa AFC vs Ellerslie AFC Memorial Park | Sunday 11 April | Kick-off: 2.45pm | Referee: John McCoskrie, Assistant Referees: Ravinesh Kumar, Jesse Dale Manurewa and Ellerslie have experienced contrasting seasons so far with the former second-from-bottom and the other second-from-top. If leaders Tauranga fail to pick up any points, then Ellerslie could go top with a win here so there is a sizeable carrot on offer for Chris Wallace’s men. Manurewa have every reason to fight hard for the points themselves though as it looks like they could be among the relegation contenders again.
vs
Metro FC vs Ngaruawahia AFC Phyllis Street | Saturday 11 April | Kick-off: 2.45pm | Referee: Mazhar Batoor, Assistant Referees: Charlie Tseng, Fernando Karam Metro’s promising start to the season suffered a setback on Monday in falling 1-0 at home to North Shore so a visit by the league’s bottom-placed side is good timing. This is Metro’s third match in succession on their own soil but they did not win either of the previous two and, with a tricky trip to Takapuna coming up, the need for the points here takes on added significance.
vs
Hibiscus Coast vs Mt Albert Ponsonby Stanmore Bay Park | Saturday 11 April | Kick-off: 2.45pm | Referee: Vaughan Couillault, Assistant Referees: Johanna O’Connor, Chris Casey The Coasters were among the promotion challengers for much of last season and seem likely to launch a bid again after winning two of their first three matches. If those hopes of going up are to come to fruition though, they need to make sure they win their home games against sides in the lower half of the table. Nothing other than three points will therefore do against a Mt Albert side with only a draw to its name so far.
vs
Tauranga City United vs Waiuku AFC Links Avenue | Sunday 12 April | Kick-off: 2.30pm | Referee: Rajesh Kumar, Assistant Referees: Peter Farrell, Andrew Lamberth Despite stepping up a division, Tauranga have picked up where they left off with a hat-trick of wins. At this stage, they look odds on to follow in the footsteps of Western Springs by securing back-to-back promotions but Duncan Lowry will be aware it’s still early days and that there are sure to be some stern challenges ahead for his side. Waiuku were well outclassed by Tauranga in last year’s second division, losing both matches on an 8-0 aggregate.
vs
Mangere United vs North Shore United Centre Park | Sunday 12 April | Kick-off: 2.45pm | Referee: Andrew Kite, Assistant Referees: Steven Black, Vaughan Couillault Mangere may be down in lower mid-table but have proven themselves to be the league’s great entertainers, scoring more than any other team but also holding the second-worst defensive record. Most of their goals arrived in a remarkable 7-2 win over Ngaruawahia on the opening day though and the North Shore rearguard is likely to be far less accommodating, having conceded just twice so far.

Round 4
Claudelands Rovers AFC vs Papakura City Galloway Park | Saturday 11 April | Kick-off: 2.45pm | Referee: Andy Holdswoth, Assistant Referees: Mark Owens, Steve Bland Claudelands have already won nearly half as many games as they did last season – a fact that highlights the extent of their struggles the previous year but also the impressive rate of their improvement. Coach Jim Keaney will be pleased with what he’s seen so far, especially considering his side had their confidence knocked on the opening day with a 4-0 loss to North Force.
vs
Lynn-Avon United vs Albany United Ken Maunder Park | Saturday 11 April | Kick-off: 2.45pm | Referee: Avnit Maharaj, Assistant Referees: Caleb Moffatt, Khalid El Gana Lynn-Avon’s hopes that a new year would bring about a change in fortunes have not materialised and they find themselves the only side without a point in the division. Without the safety net provided last season by relegated Warkworth, there is now no buffer between them and bottom spot, meaning Karl Phipps’ side will need to start picking up points swiftly or face the dreaded drop.
vs
Onehunga Mangere vs Fencibles United Mangere Domain | Saturday 11 April | Kick-off: 2.45pm | Referee: Jeremy Ferguson, Assistant Referees: Michael Dickason, Mark Fleming Fencibles have responded well to the tutelage of new boss Daniel Rattray, who has guided his team to two wins from three. They would be much worse off without the contribution of Zane Christiansen though as he has scored three of Fencibles’ four goals. Connor Aldridge and Brandon Heremaia-Dale have a pair each for Onehunga Mangere.
vs
Te Atatu vs Oratia United Te Atatu Peninsula Park | Saturday 11 April | Kick-off: 2.45pm | Referee: Dimitry Sabitov, Assistant Referees: Anthony Barnes, Salman Ali
vs
Newcomers Te Atatu have proved a hard nut to crack in drawing two of their three matches but are also yet to win so coach James Colligan will be looking to get that monkey off his back as soon as possible. That will be difficult in this western derby though as Oratia are in third spot and have the division’s leading marksman in their ranks, former Northampton Town apprentice Mark Withers.
North Force vs Papatoetoe AFC Tikipunga Sports Park | Sunday 12 April | Kick-off: 2.45pm | Referee: James Ashford, Assistant Referees: Dave Doidge, Torres Chang
vs
North Force are the league’s early pace setters and are charging along at breakneck speed, having scored an average of three goals in their consecutive wins without letting any in at the other end. The visit of Papatoetoe will hold no fears for the hosts as the south Aucklanders have earned only one win, although that result did come in a 5-1 thumping of Lynn-Avon on Monday so their confidence levels will be high.
Manukau City AFC vs AFC Fury Walter Massey Park | Sunday 12 April | Kick-off: 2.45pm | Referee: Mark Fisher, Assistant Referees: Charles Nothnagel, Neil Tobin Manukau have made light of their freshly-promoted status by snapping at the heels of leaders North Force and are yet to taste defeat on their return to NRFL action. They will face another side new to the league here and will be favoured to continue their unbeaten run against a cosmopolitan Fury outfit that has recorded one win so far. The visitors will need to be wary of Josh Karika and Cody Patterson, who have five goals between them.
