ALI GUYMON DESIGN PORTFOLIO

For this home I wanted to create a sense of tradition and personality. This started with my design for this stair railing that travels through all the floors of the home at the core. In this entry and in the music room shown on the next page I worked with a local framer to create these gallery walls full of the client’s existing art.

This spread shows the family room in this home, that exemplifies the playful nature of the client’s family.

The kitchen in this home has a combination of paint grade and stain grade cabinetry, as well as a back-painted glass cabinet that acts as the range hood with hidden cabinet doors on either side. The large pendants crown the space.

This primary bathroom combines wallpaper, stone, and color in a way that leaves the space feeling serene and warm. The decorative legs on either side of the makeup vanity and the cuff-like pulls provide a bit of jewelry to the space. In the toilet room, I paired a watercolor style wallpaper with the a scarf that the client wanted framed, the colors played perfectly together.

On this Page: The home’s mud hall. I designed this cabinetry with combination of a blue painted finish and a durable wood bench with shoe storage to accomidate their son’s essentials. Accross from the hooks is a console to set keys and sunglasses on as well as a sheep bench that greets the family as they come home.

Right: The pink laundry room is accented with black stone and ceramic tile backsplash. Pink ceramic knobs, an exciting fabric roman shade, and the Gray Malin art add a sense of whimsy to a space that should make you smile in a room that’s function is not always fun.

On the Left: Rendered axonometric of the bunk room. Also photos of the room. These were taken before the bed wall panels were installed. The room was inspired by the boys love of animals and sense of adventure

On the Right: Photo of another child’s bedroom in the same home. This child wanted to be a “gardener in space” when he grew up so I used green tones as well as imagery of moons and plantlife to make it his while still providing a space that can grow with him.

Carrying the green of the bedroom into the bedroom it plays off the charcoals and blacks of the stone and tile in the space. Using the zebrano marble tile in the shower and doing a quarter turn on each stone created an additional pattern on top of the stones natural veining. Another favorite

For the basement family room in this home I wanted to play with texture as well as giving them a zone perfect for movie nights and family chats. To create additional interest on the vertical plane on either side of the tv I designed a sliding cabinet door that shades a portion of the shelves with a brass mesh.

This home was a full remodel designed to add character and style to this space. Below is the entry with the custom moulding and tile pattern. To the right is the library, just off the entry it’s dark tones provide and interesting contrast to the spaces all A DESIGNER

This kitchen has it all. Metal cabinets, sprayed with an automotive paint as an alternative for a laquer to achieve a high gloss look. Brass inlay on the fridge wall, and a cerused black oak island with leather banquette at the end add other textures and materials to the space. Overall creating a layered stylish workhorse.

This bathroom comes from a historic home in the Avenues in Salt Lake City. I designed a custom stained glass pattern that celebrated and called back to the arches in the home’s original stair railing.
