nce again the Prague show despite the weather, climate and pandemic, took place at the "Velká Chuchle Racecourse" where the "Czech #ational Championship", the "Prague Intercup" and the "European Cup" were held. This facility is Prague's historic racecourse, built in 1860 by Archduke Karl Franz Josef, Governor Count Karl Coudenhove, and the Mayor of Prague, Dr. Karel Groš. Renovated over the years, the building is a ten-minute drive from the historical centre of Prague and with the usual shuttle service provided by "Kopecky", a BMW and Peugeot dealer, transfers were extremely easy. It was very convenient for the organisation and especially for us guests to be all housed in the same splendid "Hotel Maximilian", a stone's throw from the famous Town Hall Square where the Astronomical Clock is located. Dating back to the Middle Ages, it is one of the city's main tourist attractions.

The event is certainly one of the most eagerly awaited in Europe, and the hospitality offered is among the best. Czech association ACHPAK CR, under the leadership of its President Mr. Jaroslav Lacina has been supported for years by a tried and tested staff that is up to the quality that a show like this requires. There are two evening events offered to all guests by the many sponsors, and Friday evening is offered as hospitality to all those involved in the sector: handlers, drivers, technical staff and all those who, to ensure the success of the event, have or will have to work until late at night. To all of them goes a big and heartfelt thank you for the effort and commitment they put in to support the world ofArabian horses. And so this year we returned to the long-awaited 'normality', two intense days of shows (there was no European Championship) on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th September. On the first day for the "Czech #ationals" the following were invited to judge: HH Sheika Fatima bint Hazza bin Zayed Al #ahyan (UAE), Mr. Gianmarco Aragno (IT) and Mr. Jerzy Bialobok (PL). On 18th September, with the start of the "Czech #ationals"

also begins the marathon for the disciplinary committee that also presided over the other two shows, and was formed by: Dr. Abdel Wahab Amira (UAE), Mrs. Line Brunsgaard (DK) and Mrs. Irena Cieslak (PL). With them Mr. Peter Hegemann (DE) was the Ringmaster. The speakers who alternated with the double language were Mrs. Zuzana Slaviková (CZ) and Mr. Eric Blaak (BE). Music and sound were provided by Mr. Karel Zbiral (CZ). The afternoon saw the start ofECAHO B International show - "Prague Intercup", which includes the "European Cup", a show that awards a real final championship exclusively to horses born and bred in Europe. This year exclusively supported by Al Sayed Stud with the total of 9. 000, -Euro prize-money. Six judges were invited to judge these two shows. From Italy, Mrs. Maria Ferraroni and Dr. Cristian Moschini. Mrs. Claudia Darius from Germany, Mrs. Karin Zeevenhoven from Holland, Mr. Marek Trela from Poland and Mrs. Marian Tengstedt from Denmark. Thanks to the sponsors who are always the driving force behind all shows and events for Arabian horses. Thanks to the technical staff and the efforts of all those present in Prague, thanks to the Czech Association together with Mr. Jaroslav Lacina who once again put on a prestigious show for our splendid horses. The next important event will be the World Championship in Paris, and this too will be a challenge to be won in order to never again stop the world ofshows, which are the essential element for the thousands of people who gravitate around this business. We will all work to ensure that the event runs smoothly and safely. All of us in Arabian horse community got used to the fancy international horse show with its characteristic point – the elephants carrying the judges into the arena and the private zoo just around the corner visited often during the show breaks. The place of Ismer Family also runs dedicated Arabian horse breeding following their own special vision but surely not all of us have known that the history of that place started 700 years ago! The Ismer family had located in Stroehen over 700 years ago. The history of the zoo as well as the stud farm established by Rolf Ismer (1912 - 2005) began 60 years ago when the animals from all over the world have been brought to the place that has been built in traditional wooden style. He also introduced the first Arabian horses in that place, like Inazzah and Shari which traces back to the oldest existing European import mare - Murana I from the studfarm of Mrs Griesbach.

The reason for the purchase of the first Arabians was actually to improve the local pony breeding. The whole huge animals and horse stud operation has been continued by his son Holger, who added the Arabian horse show to be the part of the regular family activity since over 30 years now. Holger also bred and imported numerous successful Arabians like Mashour, Mashoura, Madoura, Pasat and Eunizar, to mention only a few. With all the beauty of the place, its tremendous collection of not only horses but the collection of animals representing all continents of the world it can surely be called one of the most fancy events in the Arabian horse calendar. Thus its not a surprise that Ismer Stud has been visited by the animals and Arabian horse lovers from 30 different countries so far. The huge dedication of whole family since many generations run continuously at the same place in Stroehen turned the traditional cottage style farm into the international 350 000 square metres paradise with over 600 animals hidden in the forrests of North-Western part of Germany. Even one of the main roads of the town now carries the name of “Tierparkstrasse” (the Animals Park street). The Ismer Stud counting almost 200 horses is the biggest Arabian stud in Germany and it is a great ambassador of our beloved horse breed amongst the people visiting Stroehen not only for horses purposes.

Let’s hear the story of the place and the breeding program of Ismer Stud from one of its main inheritor and continuator – dr Nils Ismer – the breeder, judge and veterinarian, son of Holger and grandson of Rolf Ismer, the founder: Urszula Łęczycka: The history of the family place since 700 years ago – that’s impressive tradition. Were your first ancestors related to any animals breeding? Nils Ismer: We have documents from 1241 proving that the family Wege had a farm already at that place and can trace back directly till 1530 - our ancestors. It had always been an agricultural farm, until Rolf Ismer married Annemarie Wege (1912 -1966) during World War II. He was a farmer from Silesia and found his wife and future in Ströhen. So animals in different species have been always a part of their lives.

UŁ:The zoo has been started by your grandfather Rolf Ismer. What was the reason and idea of collecting the animals here – was it for a private use only or was it a public place for the beginning? How the Arabian horses joined that place? NI: Rolf Ismer was an animal lover and he collected different animals, especially birds. He found the beauty of the Farm and the forrest close by as an ideal place to build a zoo. In 1959 he started this concept also as professional idea and developed the zoo step by step afterwards. The size of the farm is constant in total 150 hectares of which 30 of them had been transformed into the zoo area. At the beginning of 60-ties my grandfather and his family found the fascination of the Arabian horses. By the possibility of buying three mares from the breeding program of Mrs Griesbach the stud was founded. In 1966,

after the passing of Rolf ’s wife - Annemarie, his son Holger, almost 20 years old at that time, took over the farm and developed the Arabian horse breeding program. In 1984 he opened the studfarm next to the existing zoo for the public. Holger imported countless horses from the Polish state studs during the 1970s and 1980s. Many of them became international Champions in Show and in racing. He was always accompanied by his late wife Almuth, which passed away in February this year. UŁ: Have your family breeding programm changed during the years – in terms of type and purpose for your horses or it stays the same? NI: During the 70-ties and 80-ties racing had a bigger influence on our breeding decisions, as at those times classic pure bred Arabians were competing against each other. The appearance of the French lines made us decide not to continue in this field. Anyhow our

breeding aim has not really changed: a charismatic, typey, correct and healthy horse with strong movements and a brave but kind character being able to perform on highest levels! UŁ: You seem to have your precised vision about the ideal Arabian horse – how it should look like and what lines you appreciate the most? NI: We all have our vision and very seldom we come close to it. An Arabian horse needs beauty and charisma. I believe it must be also functional and well balanced. A horse which can not move may be beautiful, but can never be charismatic and will not touch my heart. I believe we find wonderful horses in many lines and breeding programs, but I love the athletic movements of many Polish and Russian lines combined with type note from Egyptian or old Marbach lines. Those combinations you will find in most successful show horses worldwide today.

UŁ: What do you think about the changing fashion in the modern show breeding – are you following the fashion or rather continue the long family traditions? NI: We are not following any fashion, but we are always open for new developments, if we believe it brings us closer to our vision. This vision will always guide us and then we try to access bloodlines, where we see a development for our program. But I have to say, that we have many show horses lately, which are missing functional bodies and as a result of this: movement. This will never be my fashion! UŁ: The 2021 season is very successful for Ismer Stud bred horses. Which titles won this year have brought you the biggest satisfaction so far? NI: Of course the successes of home bred filly IS Pialuna by Ascot DD was our highlight this year – three times shown as a foal in 2021 and three times gold: AFE Cup, Bruges Arabian Horse Event, Arabian Horse Weekend, She is very

close to my own vision of an Arabian horse, I will follow her future development with some pride. The other important wins of Ismer Stud bred and owned horses in recent years are: IS EtTu, born 2015 (IS Exxpu x Is Etara – Altis) - National Champion Aachen 2018, Champion Junior Fillies, Praque Intercup 2016, IS Essencia, born 2019 (Poseidon OS x IS Ella Nora – El Mariachi) - Reserve Champion Junior Female, Sopot 2021, IS Exxpu, born 2009 (QR Marc x IS Exelsia – Madkours Impuls) - Reserve Champion Stallion, European Championship 2016, Reserve Champion Stallion, National Championship Germany 2015 and several Silver Champion or International Shows. UŁ: Germany has strong horse performance traditions – are your horses competing at sports as well and what are their best achievements? NI: We have stallions that we take to the stallions performance test, as we want to breed horses which can

be ridden and which are able to perform. Our stallion IS Orlow for example won the dressage index at the performance test against warmblood stallions in Marbach and also competed well at showjumping. But most of our horses we only train until a good pleasure level before they find new homes. UŁ: Running the breeding and care of so many different animal species plus the Arabian horse breeding, with vet and judge profession must be very time consuming. Is the whole family involved into this operation? Do you still have time to enjoy the free time in your paradise? NI: Well this place only works because of the amazing staff we have. In every single part of the company we have people who work with a high level of passion, love and responsibility for this place. Only because of this we are free to enjoy sometimes the beauty and peace of this little place and also give us the opportunity to travel to other farms and shows. But of course this job has never an end and it is a big pleasure and help, that the entire family stands behind it. Lina, our daughter is very much into the horses, but recently also finds more fascination in other animals. Noah likes more the dogs and is enthusiastic on hunting.

But luckily they both feel and live the special sense of this place with its entire miracles. We hope it will stay like this, but both of them will undergo huge developments in their future life, which we will respect of course. UŁ: It’s so important to have well experienced, professional and dedicated support. Anyway being an owner or a staff member it has to be amazing to work here. Looking around your paradise - what are, honestly, your favourite animal species at this place? NI: I love the elephants, the horses and our dogs…probably a little bit more than all the others. UŁ: If you can dream even more then - what would be your biggest dream regarding that place and your Arabian horses? NI: A homebred World and All Nations Cup Champion filly for the horses and a large Africa enclosure with giraffes, zebras and antilopes at the zoo!! UŁ: Well, nothing else to say than wishing you the further dreams to come true, looking at your recent horses achievements - it may be just around the corner...

But the acquisition of few most entitled and most expensive horses in the world plus one of the most famous Saudi Arabian stud farms along with all its horses, buildings, facilities, clinic and making the generous plan of sharing some of its pearls for free with other breeders – that’s an idea being noted once in some breeders lifetime. We are talking about the giant breding plan of Mr Abdulaziz Saleh Abdulaziz Al Rajhi – the founder and owner of Al Rajhiat Stud in Saudi Arabia. I was born in Mozambique, a Portuguese colony in Southeast Africa. I left Mozambique with my family, as a result of the civil war for Independence. We went to Brazil. I started working as a secretary for ABCCA – Brazilian Association of Arabian Horse Breeders, in São Paulo in 1979. I used to work at the Directors´ meetings and later I was relocated to the Registry, where I stayed for many years. Later I became Public Relations and one of my assignments was to assist breeders and judges, both Brazilian and foreign, that were invited to our exhibitions. It is fascinating to meet people from other cultures. I´m always learning with those encounters. I research Arabian horses and in process I´m in contact with several organizations worldwide, including WAHO Secretary Katrina Murray, whom I

had the pleasure of visiting a few times in the past. I assist the organizers of the exhibitions. It´s always wonderful in witness all these horse presentations in those events. It´s impossible not to fall in love with this extraordinary breed that carries such rich culture and history. It has been an immense pleasure to work with Arabian Horse Breeders. I joined ABCCA through a family friend, who suggested it as a way for me to adapt to a new country. The environment captivated me quickly. I have a lot of respect for all the women involved with the breeding of Arabian Horses. When I joined this community, there was far less of a female presence in a world so dominated by men. It´s beautiful and heartwarming to witness this process happening.

| used to love all kind of horses since my childhood and often dreamed of having one. My luck came in 2004 when I was gifted one Arabian colt from Abdullah Al-Mousa (Al-Mousa Arabians) to raise for riding. His name was Dewahy Al Mousa, son of EAO mare called Amman.

This year Marmar Stud reached its 4th generation and my breeding program contains 4 main tailfemale family strains, which are: 1) Saqlawi through Moniet El Nefous, 2) Hadban through Kamla and Yosreia, 3) Dahman through Bint Bukra and 4) Obayyan through Wasfia.

By the end of 2007, I moved to London for work with JP Morgan in the banking industry. My friend Abdullah advised me to sell Dewahy and purchase a filly instead for breeding. I took his advise and purchased my first filly Marmar SEA (Set El-Hosen II EAO, by Karawan & Bahraweya, x Al Masry EAO by Adl & Bint Misr) from Mrs. Wegdan El-Barbari, Shams El-Asil Stud. She would later become my mentor and “Godmother” to guide me through my journey. Eventually, I named my farm Marmar Stud in her honor.

My Straight Egyptian breeding program is based on breeding sound horses while providing them love, care and passion in order to continue my journey in producing not only show champions but also charismatic horses with great stamina and performance under saddle. My goal is to preserve the identity and heritage of our authentic Arabian horses as they are the source of happiness, energy and life for me. Through my horses I have met some of the most helpful people who have supported me with advice, as well as offered breedings to their stallions. I have made many true friends over the years. The most rewarding aspect is to see the results of my breeding decisions, and to keep learning and improving with each generation.

Marmar Stud today is a Straight Egyptian Arabian horse little paradise. It is surrounded with picturesque palms and views of the Saqqara Pyramids on one side and Abusir Pyramids on the other. The small group of high quality Straight Egyptians residing on the farm represent 15 years of my breeding program.

SPECIAL Hi! My name is Paulina Vogelgsang, I am 26 years old and from Germany. I am a national judge, a rider and an entrepreneur in many ways. I have always had a passion for photography, so I started my business while still in school. Now I have a company with two of my best (girl) friends that produces video content for all kinds of industries as well as a fashion brand, Hanan International, where I design and sell leather accessories made in Europe for equestrians. Especially Arabian horse lovers- such as myself. My first encounter with the Arabian horse was through my mother. She has loved the breed since she was a little girl and bought Arabian horse magazines for us to read at home. When I was 13 she bought two mares and from then on the spell was cast upon me. Both mares were/are great riding companions and our big wish was a foal of our own. So breeding plans were made and we visited many stallions and shows throughout Europe until we had the fit we were searching for. The pairing resulted in a little grey filly who is now 12 years old. She is my inspiration and my joy. When she was a junior, I took her to all kinds of amateur shows and when she was old enough to be ridden, we started her ourselves. She is a great riding horse and we are able to perform high level dressage. Further she is my model for Hanan and has also starred in other video productions. For me she embodies what an Arabian horse should be. Through her I was motivated to learn more about the breed. When I was 16, I spent parts of my school vacation at Johanna Ullström’s farm where I learned a lot about how to handle horses from foals to stallions as well as different horse characters and overall Arabian type. I have always admired Johanna and the way she works with her horses. During my stays in Belgium, I was able to meet many people from the Arabian horse world that I now consider my friends. We visited many shows and it was then that I decided I wanted to be a horse judge myself. I would consider myself as a rather introverted person, which makes it difficult for me to directly

approach people in the (Arabian horse) world. For me, I sometimes have the impression of not really being taken seriously at the very first encounter as true professional- it might be because of my age, my benevolent nature, because I am a woman or a mix of it all. The second encounter is always different. And I must admit that there are indeed some people who I’ve met in the Arabian show scene, who seem ‘rather superficial’ in their love of the Arabian horse and are effectively lacking true knowledge of the horse and horsemanship. We of course are dealing with one of the most beautiful creatures in the world, and aesthetics and extremes play a big role- something that also gives me joy. But it reduces the horse only to his or her outside appearance, neglecting the true nature of the Arabian horse. It is important to remember that Arabians are also animals and there is, as with every animal, also a “less glamorous” side to life with horses. It is hard physical work and a lot of responsibility to take care of horses. This is something that many people forget or maybe just don’t care about. It is difficult for me to connect with these people as I am very straight with my beliefs in how you treat horses. For me it is important that there is more to Arabian horses than a beautiful face and glossy coat. A breathtaking stallion that is only teased with mares, jumps a phantom and does not have the body or disposition to be ridden or even handled by a nonprofessional lacks important qualities that should not be underestimated in a breeding horse. It is tough to put present trends aside and think more about the longterm consequences and also openly state your position- How does this affect the breed in pheno- and genotype as well as more economically the marketability of the Arabian horse? But this is not related to gender male or female. There is a separation between Arabians for riding and Arabians for showing- I think it should be our big concern to bring these two back together. That is my strong belief and also the reason I became a judge. I would really enjoy to exchange opinions and observations with likeminded Arabian lovers.

SPECIAL My name is Giorgia. I am Italian, from Milan. I collaborate with Tutto Arabi Magazine in different ways. The most important was to create this project dedicated to women in the world of Arabian horses. I approached this world by chance having met and married the editor of Tutto Arabi. I observed this world from the outside with respect and curiosity and met extraordinary people in it who welcomed me and helped me to understand the great heritage and importance that lies behind the fabulous scenes. I tried to enter this world in my own capacity in many ways but when I became a mother to my second child, Blanca, who is a baby girl, I realized that I had a duty to connect her birth to my world, to this world and find meaning in what I was doing. I was given this extraordinary opportunity to reach out to great women all over the world, women who have different stories but all tied together by a passion. A great passion that has moved and conditioned their lives. Women strongly and deeply influenced by each other. What I thought was to create a project to collect all their stories and make them the baton to pass on to the next generation of girls to encourage them to become the pillars of tomorrow. I have always had an intimate desire in my life to be taught and guided by older, wiser people and I have always felt within myself the importance of that. I thought that maybe many people like me in their lives did not find their way early and followed the course of events discovering only in adulthood that one can be what one wants if one wants. And sometimes even this is not true because your will and desire must be accompanied by the luck of being born in the right part of the world where rights and talents are recognized by others and valued. I’ve thought deeply about

these topics, about the way a girl finds her way, by chance, by mistake, and is helped and pushed by the people she meets in her life, and I thought about how many talents are lost through wrong paths, without attention from people who fail to understand the value of that person. So with the project We, Women I would like to tell these girls that someone is looking for them, that they can follow their will, their feeling, their ideas and their dreams knowing that they are seen. I would like to create a group of women who can be a support for young girls who want to approach the world of the Arabian horse but not only, because I think the same rules apply outside. The project and all my efforts are aimed at women because I think and I see that women, all over the world and crosswise in different cultures, are still threatened, often killed, undervalued, underpaid, often still victims of prejudices that limit their life, their freedom. This needs to be said, not hidden. And girls must be supported and helped by other women and all people to become strong pillars of tomorrow. Our tomorrow needs to have strong women leading the world towards prosperity and equality. Our girls need to know that they can count on societies that consider them on the same level as boys, that open the same doors and use the same words to talk to them and describe their abilities and qualities as people. I believe this is the only way to achieve the goal of progress as a society. Everyone can be an inspiration. My experience has taught me that you can learn something from everyone, even from negativity. Adults, the people who have the power and voice to speak their mind have the duty to find ways to support young people.

n the last weekend of October (30-31. 10), The Michałów Stud together with the The 1st Regiment of Horse Riflemen in Michałów was the host of the 12th Polish Sport Championships of Arabian Purebred Horses affiliated by ECAHO. 25 horse-rider pairs competed right here to test their skills and level of training in 7 competitions to choose from. It was a great opportunity to present many functional qualities of the Arabian horse, i. e. strength, speed, endurance, gentleness and last but not least friendly character. The Michałów Stud, fully wrapped in the colours of autumn, welcomed its guests with wonderful, sunny weather and high (as for this time of year in Poland) temperature. The competitions started on both Saturday and Sunday quite early, at 8:00 am, but thanks to this the participants of the event could admire the unusual view. In the morning, gentle

autumn fog surrounded the buildings of the stud, between which riders moved on purebred Arabian horses. The rising sun was reflected in the horses' eyes, and the beat of their hooves mingled with their joyful neighing. You should regret not being there! The invitation to judge classic and pleasure competitions was accepted by: Alicja Poszepczyńska, Magdalena Szarszewska, Anna Piasecka, Wacław Pruchniewicz and the Olympian, judge and coach Józef Zagor, who was also the host of the track. The competitors ran against each other at the following Classes: Type & Conformation, Dressage, Classic Pleasure, Traditional Arabian Riding, Hunter Pleasure, Polish Historical Costume and Show Jumping. The most numerous competitions were: Classic Pleasure, Hunter Pleasure and Show Jumping, where 10 pairs were entered.

Saturday's competition began with the Type & Conformation competition, in which 7 pairs showed the best qualities of the Arabian horse. The most favourable impression was made by the pair Elgoriusz (Medalion - Elgora / Poganin) and Oliwia Kowal, who is his owner, and they represented the La Posada stable. This grey, only four-year-old stallion, bred at the Michałów Stud, proved that a versatile Arabian horse can also match the breed standard. It is worth noting that Elgoriusz was the youngest horse at the competition, but it was he who set the bar for his rivals high in individual competitions, but we will come back to that later. Second place went to the grey gelding Korab (Pegasus - Karbala / Emigrant), who was also bred in Michałów and belongs to Magdalena Helak – Kulczyńska and participated in tandem with Marta Kulczyńska representing the Abaria Iwno Equestrian Club. The third place this time took the bay stallion Wostok (Pogrom – Wołogda/Ekstern), bred in

Janów Podlaski and owned by Aneta Chrząstek – Szyc, who was presented by Sabina Pawełkiewicz from Klub Jeździecki Lider Radzionków Blue Arabians. During Saturday's competition, there was a slight confusion in the Dressage semi-finals due to some discrepancies between the riding programs of the riders and those of the judges. This was surely because of the fact that the programs were made available on various websites, where they were not properly updated. That's too bad, though, because the competitors must have put a lot of effort into preparing themselves and their horses for this competition. In the end, “the cards were dealt” by pairs: Wostok and Sabina Pawełkiewicz, Erutido (Emberk - Elmara / Monar) bred by Agnieszka Kozłowska and owned by Bolesław Roszkiewicz in a duet with Jan Woźniewski from Stajnia nad Wisłą and Cyrano (Ekier Cytra / Elpacino) bred & owned by Danuta Konończuk, ridden by Alicja Jasiak from the Amazonka Dama Dana

Team Riding Club. Cyrano took third place both in the semifinal and in the final, while Wostok and Erutido swapped places, so in the final the gold medal went to the gelding Erutido, and the silver medal went to Wostok. In the Classic Pleasure and Hunter Pleasure Class, judges assessed the presentation of pairs in the walk, trot, extended trot, working and extended canter. Moreover, horses were required to stay in the "stand" position and to be willing and agile backing up. In both competitions, aforementioned Elgoriusz together with Oliwia Kowal broke the bank and took the first places. Although Elgoriusz was second in the semi-finals of Classic Pleasure, he gave way to elegantly led Wostok, the distribution offorces in the final was different. Wostok came only in 5th place. The second place and the silver medal went to the duo Korab and Marta Kulczyńska, who

additionally won a bronze medal in the Hunter Pleasure Class. The third place was awarded to the grey gelding Emisfero (Empire - Erosetta / Oset) bred by Aleksandra Kowalska and ridden by his owner Aleksandra Rachut. The silver medal in Hunter Pleasure Class was defended by the stallion Elsar (Poganin - Emida / Wachlarz), bred by Grzegorz Dudek and owned by Przemysław Janowski, with his equestrienne Krystyna Janowska. The duo represented the Wrzosy Equestrian Club. Elgoriusz, Elsar and Emisfero, along with their equestriennes, competed also in the Traditional Arabian Riding competition. A total offive pairs went against each other in this competition. It is certainly the most colourful competition, because it is here that the fantasy of the participants in the selection of costumes can be unlimited. The colours of gold, turquoise, red and black filled the Michałów hall – that was a real feast for the eye! The abovementioned pairs had primacy here and won the

following medals in the final: gold - Elgoriusz and Oliwia Kowal, silver - Emisfero and Aleksandra Rachut and bronze – Elsar and Magdalena Łach. The Polish Historical Costume Class was another very interesting and eye-catching competition. It has always been full of elegance, so this time elegance was intertwined with the finesse and grace of Arabian horses. Eight couples were presented in beautifully designed old Polish costumes with carefully selected details. However, the judges had to choose the best three in the final, and so Emisfero and Elsar stood next to each other on the podium again, but one step higher than in the previous competition. The same duo, i. e. Emisfero and Aleksandra Rachut won gold and this time Elsar together with Krystyna Janowska won silver. The bronze medal went to the stallion (egro (Celsjusz - (irwana / Turban) bred by Witold Jakubczyk and owned by Jarosław

Jakubczyk and his equestrienne Marcelina Żebrowska from the Łaziska Horse Stud. The correctness of the program execution, the cooperation between the horse and the rider, riding style and proper use of aids are assessed in costume competitions. This is 75% ofthe judges’ score, while 25% is for the rider's outfit and the horse's row. The gelding Elgor (Dębiec - Este / Furiat) bred by Wojciech Janowski and owned by Przemysław Janowski was the best in the Show Jumping competition. Ridden by Maja Książkiewicz he won first place and a gold medal, and with equestrienne Magdalena Łach he won second place and a silver medal. The bronze medal and third place went to the mare Webista (Perseusz - Webera / Porto), bred by Dariusz Łuczak and ridden by her owner Karolina Hernik - Jasik, representing the Hubertus Horse Stud. Competitors and their horses could obtain two more titles.

The Classic All-Round Champion title is awarded to the horse which, with the same rider, received the highest total of points from all mandatory and additional competitions in which they competed. The obligatory competitions include: Type & Conformation and Dressage or Jumping, and the additional ones: Dressage, Jumping, Classic Pleasure, Hunter Pleasure and (ative Costume. The BEST PURE POLISH award was also an interesting touch to the event. It was sponsored by the Polish Arabian Horse Breeders Association, and it was intended for the horse that will take the highest place in the All - Round classification and will meet the pedigree requirements. Both titles, obviously, went to Elgorius. This Michałów-bred stallion and his owner, and

at the same time a talented equestrienne, won four gold medals and the abovementioned titles. We cannot forget that he was the youngest horse at the competition! The silver medal of the Classic All-Round Champion was won by the stallion Wostok. Such competitions prove that Arabian horses are multitalented, intelligent, willing to cooperate and prove themselves in many sports. Therefore, thanks are due to the organizers, sponsors, officials, volunteers, and above all, the competitors without who such an event could not have taken place.

rabian Futurity Europe - founded in 2004 - is an initiative for breeders of Arabian horses within Europe to bring new energy to Arabian horse breeding and Arabian horse events in Europe. With an impressive collection of some of Europe’s highest quality breeding stallions, this initiative allows breeders the opportunity to purchase one of these breedings in an open Auction. The horse born out of this auction breeding gets automatically nominated to participate in the Futurity Competition. To compete with this foal oﬀers an attractive amount of prize money equal to 100%. This concept provides an incredible opportunity to both sides involved in Arabian horses — the breeder and the stallion owner. For the breeder, it brings the possibility to purchase breeding of excellent quality and future on to win money with the coming up foal all together at one place. For the stallion’s owner, it is not only good publicity. But also, they can earn some prize money if foals out of their stallion are winning every year as every stallion is active for ten years from the ﬁrst donation. The Arabian Futurity Europe vision is to promote and organize a beautiful event for everybody with a welcoming atmosphere, bringing together the show scene and the riding people in one place and having a good time. The vision behind it is to create a very fair and friendly event, without expecting to earn money or any

profit for the organization – but bring people and memories together. Arabian Futurity Europe 2021 took place on the 7th-8th of August 2021 at “Reitzsportzentrum Küffner Hof ” in Germany, a perfect location for this year’s event. The event was a success. The organizers did a great job to make it happen, bringing all together participants, breeders, owners and gathered audience to have a satisfying time at the event. The Arabian Futurity Europe 2021 event was a breeder’s show and sports competition. During the two-day event, we could not only admire the unique beauty of Arabian horses in the halter classes. But also their abilities in the riding classes followed by the championships. Here, all the categories got well represented. The event got also accompanied by a perfectly organized Breeder’s Party and 1st European Future Star Sale Auction, where a total amount of 17 horses got offered, and interested buyers from all over the world could participate in the bidding even online. During the auction, 11 horses found a new home and new proud owners. It was indeed a pleasant and wonderful weekend in a hospitable and friendly atmosphere, and we had a chance to see many beautiful Arabian horses, talented riders, satisfied horse owners and breeders – we hope to welcome you all again in 2022!

t the end of a difficult period that has certainly not spared the horse sector, PSA in particular, on October 10 and 11 the curtain was raised on the Italian Championship A ICA SHOW 2021 in the extraordinary setting of the Horse Riviera Resort of San Giovanni in Marignano in the province ofRimini. Witnessing once again the unfolding ofthis important event was truly a great emotion. The Italian event, which this year is 34 years old, is the first one held under the direction of the new management recently installed. The organization left nothing to chance, everything was managed punctually and with great participation and effort by the experienced staffofA ICA. President Vincenzo Pellegrini expressed special thanks to those who made the event possible through their work, even in difficult times, and even with some difficulties dictated by the particular period in which we find ourselves, which brings with it restrictions that interfere with the smooth running of the show. But being able to meet again in such a prestigious location, with the patronage of the municipality of Riccione, and being able to admire the high quality that Italian breeders have continued to produce in the last two years, with courage and foresight, all this has made the success of this event exceptional. e're finally back to talking about horses. We're back in the Emirates and we did it in style, we participated in one of the most important events scheduled in the Middle East - the ational Championship. The choice of location was excellent, the "Boudheib Academy" is very characteristic as it is immersed, like an oasis, in the desert just outside Abu Dhabi. This reality was created by H. H. Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al ahyan who is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Arabian Horse Society. The equestrian center is not only an indoor arena where jumping or endurance competitions or, as in our case, a PSA show are usually held. The equestrian center was created as a temple for the horse in general. It is an academy where lessons and conferences are held regarding the world ofhorses in the UAE at 360 degrees.

The choice ofthe structure and all the strategies is thanks to the great experience ofMr. Mohamed Ahmed Alharbi, Show Manager and Vice Chairman ofthe show. Very kind, attentive to every detail and always present Ms. Hamda Alkhajeh has excellently covered the role of Show Manager Assistant. The show was spread over four days because the new Ecaho regulations provide for a maximum number of about one hundred horses per day. In the case of this event, which attracts dozens of breeders from all over the Emirates, 433 horses were entered. The entire event took place in complete harmony during the days from October 26th to 29th. Fortunately, the show was

held in an arena pleasantly cooled by air conditioning, given that outside we had 36 degrees centigrade every day. I must say that Mr. Alharbi and Ms. Hamda's attention to detail for the guests was exceptional: the catering was excellent and the food was of high quality, the VIP tables were always clean and well laid out and finally there was an innovative VIP stall exclusively for the use of handlers and insiders. Excellent also the choice to create another area dedicated to all media, which facilitated the synergies thus contributing to the best realization ofthe event.

As always, the prize money for the ational event was very high, with the horses participating in the categories receiving a price money of 20, 000 Dirham each up to 7th place (around 5, 000 euro each). In addition, other prize money was awarded for the final championship and special prizes such as best head, best in show male and female and prizes for breeders. We are and will always be honored to contribute with our magazines to promote these well organized shows and we thank all the organization and sponsors who help to promote the whole world of Arabian horses. Words by Elvis Giughera and Beth Ellen Hunziker Every Arabian horse breeder must begin somewhere. For many of us, our life as breeders begins the moment we experience that thunderbolt of wonder when we meet our fist Arabian horse. For me, it was a vision that came to life in a distant field that caught my eye. The bold powerful movement, the gracefully arched neck, the flamboyant flagged tail of the horse as it ran to meet me, thrilled me and completely captured my heart. Yes, it was a small beginning, but it shaped my life and now my family too. For some people, just owning a horse is enough, but for others, like me, we live to create the horse of our dreams. As a breeder, I want to recreate that first feeling of excitement, joy, love - over and over again, and for me, every foal born at Le Soleil brings my dream to life. Over the past 15 years or more, I have studied stallions with different pedigrees and bloodlines and tried to imagine which would cross best with my mares and produce the best foals. Years ago, I saw the Gazal Al Shaqab son, Stival, out of Paloma De Jamaal. I loved his exotic type, amazing arched neck, wonderful body, and breathtaking movement. I bred a mare to him and got a very nice filly, but eventually sold her. Over the years, I regretted that decision. Recently, a very special stallion really grabbed my attention because of his extreme type, bold, powerful movement, body, topline, amazing natural tail carriage, and special attitude - he is Sultan GK, a grandson of Stival. From the first time I saw Sultan, I felt a great excitement because he embodies all the qualities and characteristics I want for my foals. I thought if he could reproduce his qualities with my mares, they could create an amazing foal! In many ways I think Sultan resembles Stival, but with more charisma and stronger movement. When I looked at Sultan’s pedigree, I believed in him even more because it includes many of my favorite sires and dams. He is a paternal great grandson of Gazal Al Shaqab and out of a mare with strong Egyptian and Spanish bloodlines. From the very beginning of my breeding program, I relied on Egyptian bloodlines to contribute their beauty and refinement. I also learned to appreciate and cherish Spanish bloodlines for their qualities of big, black eyes, strong bodies and toplines, and their powerful movement.

In 2020, we took a chance and bred Sultan GK to our beautiful mare Passiflora Le Soleil (ZT Magnofantasy x Laheeba Le Soleil) who also has strong Russian, Egyptian, and Spanish lines. This year Passiflora gave us her first-born foal, an exquisite filly who showed us she was something extremely special from her first days. We named her Tuberosa Le Soleil. Not only is Tuberosa very beautiful, but her attitude and character are almost impossible to describe. Her hallmark characteristics are her movement, tail carriage, attitude, and overall quality. Even though a foal is born beautiful, many lose their charm as they mature. Every day, we watch Tuberosa grow, and she only improves. This year, when it was time to choose a stallion for our mares, the choice was easy - Sultan GK! The first mare we bred to him was Passiflora - again! We hope they will produce another special filly like Tuberosa. We also bred two more mares to Sultan GK for 2022 foals including the full sisters Nizwa Le Soleil and Persia Le Soleil. Like Passiflora, Nizwa and Persia are also daughters of ZT Magnofantasy, a stallion who has been quite influential in our program. He has Russian lines through the stallions Padrons Psyche, as well as our foundation mare Star Of The Hills. Magnofantasy also carries important Spanish bloodlines through El Shaklan and his iconic dam, Estopa - Magnofantasy has no less than three crosses to her - which no doubt contributes tremendously to his ability as a sire.

The sisters, Nizwa Le Soleil and Persia Le Soleil, are out of Halimashah Le Soleil, who is by the straight Egyptian stallion Laheeb Al Nasser and out of Alfabia Gaucita, by the straight Egyptian stallion Pharros. So Nizwa and Persia both carry some of the most influential Egyptian breeding lines available. These mares are important representatives of our program at Le Soleil because their tail female line is an unbroken link to our foundation mare Star Of The Hills who goes back to the Maxwell breeding program, and so many horses we love including their stallion Crusader.

As we have grown and matured as breeders, we have learned to trust our vision – thanks to our beloved mentors – and breed for what we love, not following trends, fads, or the marketplace, but following our dreams. We know that beautiful, high quality, bold, charismatic, classic Arabian horses are always appreciated. That is our focus – to follow our dreams.

We believe these three mares, Passiflora Le Soleil, Nizwa Le Soleil, and Persia Le Soleil, each with their own unique beauty, and Sultan GK will complement and enhance each other. Most important, we have faith they will produce amazing foals for our program, and for our future.

Edwin Bogucki began his artistic career with pastel portraits of Saddlebreds sold at horse shows in South East Wisconsin, near his home town of Racine. Later, he turned to oil paints. Edwin loved all animals, but especially horses and his muse was his long-time companion, a straight Egyptian stallion named Cairo. Like his bronze works, Edwin’s paintings, pastels, and etchings captured the very essence of his subjects. This page, top: “Friends”, a 1984 portrait of Bogucki’s stallion Cairo with his favorite companion, a Polish Crested hen named Snowball. Bottom: A painting titled, “Arab Stallion”, 1982, illustrates the authentic detail and character captured by Edwin Bogucki in his magnificent paintings. Facing page: “War Horse”, 1975, bronze bust. In this dramatic piece, Bogucki portrayed the energy and excitement of a horse and his anticipation of going into battle with his master. Edwin Bogucki was a prolific artist whose career spanned more than 50 years during which he created hundreds of works of art. A book documenting his life and showcasing his work will be published by his family in the near future. Edwin Bogucki is survived by his beloved wife Shirley Bogucki, children Steven Bogucki, Robin Bogucki Chen, Sheri Bogucki Wirtz, and Kathi Bogucki, as well as numerous grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. We wish them all the very best as they carry on the life and legacy of Edwin Bogucki, master artist.
