When Petra Mulder founded PeKa Arabians in 2005 she brought a passion to life. Although Arabian horses are Petra’s passion she has been a horse lover since childhood. She spent a couple of months with a Dutch family in North Carolina in 1988. This family bred arabian horses and soon she was infected with the Arabian virus. It was Petra’s dream to live on a farm and breed her own arabian horses. When she moved from The Hague to Drenthe in 2001 she was able to fulfill both of her dreams.
Petra’s breeding philosophy is both simple and demanding. Her goal is to breed an arabian with all the characteristics of the arabian breed, such as large expressive eyes, a wide forehead with a clear “dish”, long neck, good legs and of course strong movement. An arabian that can compete in the showring but can also be a good riding horse for sport or recreation purposes.
Her breeding program is currently based on 8 mares but altogether Petra owns 15 arabian horses including some young stock and her home bred young stallion by RFI Unique, Vigaro PKA.
The foundation mare of PeKa Arabians is Ydola F (Psytadel x Yafit). She was bred by Forelocks Arabians and was purchased in 2005. She has given Petra beautiful foals by Marajj, RFI Farid, Kanz Albidayer, Fadi al Shaqab and Emerald J. Some of them were National Champions. Unfortunately Ydola died in 2024.
In 2015 another dream came true when Petra was able to purchase a beautiful Versace daughter Villina NVF. Villina is out of the aristocratic Polish bred mare Probracja by the legendary Probat. She is a classic mare with huge eyes, long neck, great body and legs and
she has the sweetest character. She has given Petra 4 beautiful foals. A colt by the great Gazal al Shaqab, a colt by Psytadel and a beautiful filly Vilailah PKA also by Gazal al Shaqab. In 2023 Vilailah had a beautiful filly by the great D Seraj. This year Vilailah is expecting a foal by the Brazilian champion RFI Unique. The 4th foal of Villina is a beautiful colt by RFI Unique Vigaro PKA. Vigaro was already successful in the show ring and this year he will breed his first mares.
In 2018 the beautiful bay WH Justice daughter Kadira was bought. This pretty mare also has beautiful eyes and the sweetest character. In 2019 she had a beautiful, very showy filly by RFI Farid, Kalifa PKA that was sold to the Middle East. In 2022 Kadira had an exquisite filly by Hatem Athbah Kahala PKA. This filly was very successful in the show ring as a yearling filly. She will enter the ring again this year.
In 2019 Petra was able to buy the beautiful Ajman Moniscione daughter Ajmana BR. Ajmana is out of the Marwan al Shaqab daughter Miss Marwan. She is a sparkling mare with huge eyes and super movement. Last year Ajmana had a very showy filly by RFI Farid Amelie PKA. This year Ajmana is expecting a foal by SMA Magic One.
Another wish Petra had was to own a beautiful black mare. This wish came through when Mashique PKA was born in 2013. Mashique is by Magic Magnifique out of Mashah T, a daughter of Massimo Ibn Mirokan. Mashique is a true moving machine. She has given Petra 3 black foals, all colts unfortunately. This year she is expecting a full sibling of the very showy black colt Maran PKA that was sold to China. Hopefully a filly this time!
(Gazal al Shaqab x Villina NVF)
(RFI Unique x Villina NVF by Versace)
In 2021 Petra was able to buy the pearl she was looking for: Fadwa del Palazzotto. An exceptional daughter of FA El Rasheem out of D Feddah by Shanghai EA. Fadwa’s first show was the international B-show in Verona and to Petra’s big surprise she took the Gold yearling fillies. An amazing experience! Fadwa has had 1 foal sofar. This year she will be bred to Petra’s new treasure Bahi FD.
Bahi FD was bought at the silent auction in Aachen in 2023 together with Forelocks Arabians but he is now completely owned by PeKa Arabians. His father is EKS Alihandro and his mother is the beautiful mare Ballerinna. He was shown at the Al Shiraa A-show in Abu Dhabi in January this year where he won his class of 2 year old colts
and also won the bronze medal junior colts. An experience Petra will never forget! This young colt is really something special. He has a bright future ahead!
Also in 2023 Petra bought another treasure at the Schoukens Auction: Coco Chanel ENB. This young mare is a daughter of Ibn Farid out of the super producer Cameaa by El Nabila B. She also will be bred to Bahi FD this year.
(Ibn Farid x Cameaa)
(Hatem Athbah x Kadira)
(Marajj x Ydola ‘F)
KADIRA (WH Justice x Karma II)
In her breeding plans Petra uses different bloodlines. Almost all her mares have a russian background and can be bred to various bloodlines. Sometimes she uses a stallion that has already proven himself but she also likes to use a young stallion who’s bloodlines and confirmation are a good match with one of her mares.
There is a saying “don’t dream your life but live your dream” and honestly Petra is living her dream. Her arabians are her passion and as her slogan says she has brought her passion to life! q

The fifth edition of the ‘KIAHF’ Katara International Arabian Horse Festival, under the High Patronage of HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, took place between 29th January and 1st February in the beautiful location of the Katara Cultural Village.
Cultural Village Foundation-Katara is chaired by General Manager His Excellency Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti, in collaboration with Racing and Equestrian Club and Qatar Equestrian Federation for the organisation of this show. From this union we are offered one of the most beautiful shows in the world, the KIAHF. I would like to emphasise that Katara Village is not only a beautiful place for meetings, shopping, restaurants and events, but above all a place created specifically to highlight the culture, art and heritage of Qatari traditions. For this reason, the place where we are watching and judging our PSAs aims to keep intact everything about the history of this nation, which hosts many world-class sporting events every year, not just equestrian events, with a special focus on tourism. For lovers of culture and beauty Doha offers many possibilities including visiting ‘The National Museum’, ‘The Museum of Arms’, the Souq Waqif in the city centre and within walking distance the ‘Islamic Museum’, not to mention the natural beauty this land offers.
An important symbol of Qatar’s past history is the Pearl Monument, which testifies to the importance of traditional handicrafts, one of the main activities carried out by locals up to a hundred years ago: the harvesting and crafting of pearls.
This year, Katara will also host the ‘Global Champions Arabians Tour’ 2025.
The Arabian Peninsula Horse Show took place in the specially set up arena by the sea, in the heart of Katara Village, and this sumptuous panorama is in itself the ideal setting for all photographers. Close your eyes,
imagine a horse and its handler parading along the ring with the sea behind them, the music, the wooden boats typical of the Qatari maritime tradition and, above, the blue sky! An enchanting place and an exceptionally well-organised and well-attended venue, ready to receive thousands of people from all over the world.
For the media, a special press area was set up in the upper area of the side grandstand so as to dominate the entire arena. To coordinate the journalists, videomakers and photographers under the careful supervision of Mrs. Malika Muhammad Al-Shuraim (Marketing and Communication Director), Mrs. Anu Sharma punctiliously and with great professionalism managed reports and meetings for the best success of the event. Our thanks and special praise go to them for enabling us to do an excellent job again this year and fulfilling every technical requirement on site. All this meticulous attention to detail for the pure-bred Arabian horses is also thank to the great experience of those working on Qatar’s National Vision 2030 project.
The 13 judges alternating with each other using a computerised system judged the 138 horses entered were: Mrs. Michaela Weidner (Germany), Mrs. Renata Schibler (Switzerland), Mrs. Karin Zeevenhoven (Netherlands), Mr. Elyas Ebrahim (Bahrain), Mr. Josy Everars (Belgium), Mr. Luiz Alvaro Moreira Rocco (Brazil), Mr. Tarek Hamza (Egypt), Mr. Nikolaus Jung (Germany), Mr. Jonas Salzman (Kuwait), Mr. Mohamed Machmoum (Morocco), Mr. Sufian Taha (Palestine), Mr. Carmelo Zaragoza (Spain) and Mr. Ali Ghanem Al Mazrouei (UAE). Four DCs: Mrs. Cristine Keiser (Norway), Mr. Danial Alavi (Iran), Mr. Yousef Abusamra (Qatar) and Mr. Razan Mohamed
(Oman). Both Ring Masters were highly experienced: Dr. Vet. Laura Mascagna (Italy) and Mr. Bassem Badr (KSA).
The prize money up for grabs is always very high and coveted by breeders and owners, but what pays most for any breeding effort is the joy of one of the three championship medals.
In any case, the prize money was around QAR 1,800,000, almost half a million Euros. Participating in this Festival is always a privilege and every year there is always something new, even when the show gives horses and handlers a brea - an exhibition of paintings by Ali Almimar or a falcon festival (Marbles) with hundreds of specimens were just examples of the extra entertainment offered by Katara Cultural Village.
The auction held on 3rd February of horses, breeding and embryo transfers, again presided over by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani was an eagerly awaited event as part of the Festival, and started at around 17.30. At 15:00 the opportunity to pay the insurance deposit that allows buyers to bid and buy officially opened.
The Katara auction for purebred Arabian horses allows new fans to approach the world of shows or to consolidate breeding programmes by purchasing subjects that have already participated in competitions of international importance.
I will now leave you with the photos of the prize-giving champions and the wonderful atmosphere surrounding the KIAHF. q

On 5 February, the second scheduled event of the Festival and also second stage of the 2025 Global Champions Arabian Tour, which started in Ajman on January 3-6, took place in Doha. Qatar’s capital is also the birthplace of this initiative and the place where the World Championship final will be held from 3 to 6 December.
GCAT will be touring around the world throughout 2025 following these next stops: 06-08 March “Muscat” - 09-12 April “Riyadh” - 14-15 June “Cannes” - 19-20 July “Valkenswaard - 16-17 August “London” - 06-07 September “Prague”. The tour will also touch America, namely “Scottsdale” on 18-20 February, “Miami Beach” on 18-20 April and “Las Vegas” on 27-28 October. “San Paulo in Brazil” will take place on 13-14 July while “Brandon Manitoba” in Canada will be in August on 08-09.
Chairman of GCAT is Mr. Faleh Al Nasr, its Vice Chairman Mr. Jan Tops, Mrs Kholoud Mohammed Al-Hail and Mr. Fred van Lierop are Board Members, Chief Executive Officer Event Director is Mr. Bader Mohammed Al-Darwish. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Nasser Al Thani is Deputy Chief Executive Officer while Mr. Jorge Cunha is in charge of marketing. We thank them because without them this event would not be possible.
Special thanks, as expressed on the occasion of the Peninsula show, go to Ms Malika Muhammad Al-
Shuraim (Marketing and Communications Director) and her assistant Ms Anu Sharma who both managed the media presence with professionalism and competence.
The Doha show took place over four days, the first three of which were dedicated to the classes in which the horses were classified and which gained access to the fourth day, the final championship day.
A total of 263 horses and more than 100 breeders were invited to judge 16 judges who alternated in groups of 11 in the ring by drawing lots. The judges were: Mrs. Martine Van Hee, Mrs. Christine Valette, Mrs. Karin Zeevenhoven, Mr. Josy Everars, Mr. Luiz Alvaro Rocco, Mr. Peter Birch, Mr. Neshaat Hegazy, Mr. Nikolaus Jung, Mohamed Ossidhoum, Mr. Gideon Reisel, Mr. Tomasz Tarczynski, Mr. Carmelo Zaragoza, Mr. Ali Ghanem Al Mazrouei, Mr. Hassanain Al Nakeeb, Mr. Bruce Mccrea and Mr. Steve Dady.
The Disciplinary Committee still has Dr. Laura Mascagna and Dr. Bassem Badr but adds Mrs. Sandra Boogaard, Mrs. Christine Keyser and Mr. Danial Alavi. The Ring Masters were Mr. Cristian Moschini and Dr. Mohammed Hammad.
The voices of the two presenters Mrs. Manial Salmi from Qatar and Mr. Marc Lewis from the Netherlands were beautiful.
For those who have already been present at some GCAT shows in the first edition in 2024 already know the glitz of this unique event.
An overall prize fund of over €24,000,000 across both the Europe & Middle East and the Americas series, as well as the World Arabian Horse Championship Supreme, was made available to award the winners all around the globe. This is also the reason why the competition in Doha as well as in other stages of GCAT, was fierce, with new contenders and Tour regulars vying to earn their points in this amazing event.
The 23 classes take place over the three established days with perfect timing both for the entry of the first horse into the ring and for the rest of the day. So we come to Saturday 8th February for the championship, where Qatar wins no less than 5 championships: “ARABELLA AL SHAHANIA” in the Yearling Fillies of H.E. Sheikha Asmeen M K Al Thani, for Yearling Colts “AL FAHAD MAS” of Aljumail Stud, for Junior Fillies “SHAHALEL AL SHAQAB” of Al Shaqab Member of Q. F., for Junior Colts “LR ANSELMO” of Al Wajba Stud. The fifth gold is for the beautiful broodmare “MOZN AL BIDAYER” bred in UAE by Sheikh Mohammed Saoud Sultan S Al Qassimi, now owned by Al Wajba Stud. The gold medal for Senior Stallions goes to Saudi Arabia unanimously won by “ALEXXANDERR” and his owner Khalid bin Said bin Abdullah Al Sayed.
Having concluded the second step of the GCAT tour, I leave you now to the photos by our photographers Mr. Simone Bergamaschi (@simone_bergamaschi_ photographer) and Ms Henrike Hoermann (@hhphotographyanddesign) and invite you to visit our Instagram profile @tuttoarabi_magazine. q

For more than twenty five years, our dedication has been reflected in unwavering commitment to breeding and selecting exceptional Arabian horses. A journey marked by ups and downs, key milestones and, above all, a deep passion shared with our family and friends around the world. Throughout these years, some of our finest horses have found homes in prestigious breeding programs across the Middle East, Europe, South America, and, most recently, also China. What fills us with the greatest pride is seeing Victor Arabians-bred mares leaving their mark on the global stage, producing championship winning offspring for their new owners.
The year 2024 has blessed us with extraordinary foals, and we eagerly anticipate the arrival of our first 2025 foals sired by our very own VA Hector. His offsprings will proudly represent the fourth generation of our breeding program.

ASE Juilliard represents the perfect cross, being the offspring of a celebrated elite sport mare who endowed him with strong legs and a solid foundation, while the addition of Egyptian bloodlines contributed show quality, a beautifully arched neck, and a dished face with deep, dark, expressive eyes.
His exceptional movement comes from his dam’s side, featuring ground-covering strides with extra power from behind. This has earned him multiple scores of 20 for movement on more than one occasion at shows. However, the most notable trait of Juilliard is his calm and pleasing character. He is very easygoing and loves human contact. All of these qualities, along with his willingness to work, make him the perfect riding horse as well as a highly praised show horse.
With a pedigree free of Marwan, Justice, and Rasheem blood, he proves to be the perfect outcross stallion for today’s breeding, consistently stamping his foals with type, movement, and a good temperament.
Juilliard is sired by Da Vinci FM, a son of the illustrious Versace, making him a paternal brother to Dominic M. The damline of Da Vinci traces back to the beautiful GG Samir, while his maternal lineage goes back to the stunning Hadban Enzahi daughter, Sanacht.
The dam of Juilliard is ASE Bisiriya Hlayyil, an AHW Aritocrat mare who was awarded by the Dutch studbook with the ELITE certificate for the outstanding performances as a broodmare. She also earned a sport certificate in recognition of her exceptional performances as a successful FEI international endurance horse. Not only was she selected for the Dutch National Endurance Team, but she was also qualified to compete at the CEI 3* level over 160 km!
The sire of Bisiriya is a son of World Champion Hlayyil Ramadan. A stallion carrying not only mostly Egyptian blood, but who also goes back to one of the strongest Desert bred lines in Jordan.
The dam of Bisiriya is the mare Manilah. She is a daughter of Radamess II by Salaa el Dine and come out of the elite mare Marischka, who was by World reserve champion Plakat en came out of the beautiful Egyptian mare Malisha bint Galal. Marischka is also the dam of multi show champion stallion Major.
Last season, ASE Juilliard was standing at Obi Training Center in Belgium where he was successfully shown. His results include:
Gold Medal Champion at the European Breeders Challenge in Lier, 2024, earning perfect scores of 20 for movement.
Silver Medal Champion Senior Stallions at the Breeders Cup in Bruges, 2024.
Class Winner with a score of 91.67 points and Silver Medal Champion at the International B Show, Westcoast Cup, 2024.
ASE Juilliard x ASE Sayuri
National Reserve Champion Filly The Netherlands 2019
By the age of three, Juilliard had already sired notable offspring, including a National Reserve Champion filly and a Bronze Champion colt. His descendants continue to garner accolades across Europe, underscoring his influence as a sire. In the following years his offspring won more and more show titles and now his first offspring is competing at the FEI level in endurance.
The incredible ASE Juillye el Teyna (ASE Juilliard x ZT Ludjteyna) will soon set her foot in the showring with Tom Oben on the lead, taking the challenge in Europe in the junior filly class. This filly is the maternal sister to ZT Marwteyn and is ready to set the showring on fire!

The competition featured large classes filled with top-quality horses. The event kicked off on Thursday afternoon with three yearling filly classes and four junior filly classes.
In Yearling Fillies Class A, the scores were extremely close, with the top two fillies both earning 90.80 points. Thanks to her exceptional type, AJ Haama (Ghaith Al Zobair × AJ Hadbaa), bred and owned by Ajman Stud, secured the class victory. This left second place to Al Jaleela K (SMA Magic One × Dhabia K), bred and owned by Saeed Seddiq Fethali Abdulla Al Khajeh. Later, in the final Yearling Filly Championship, Haama earned the Bronze medal. Third place in this class, with 90.30 points, went to Joda MA (Exagon OS × Joleen MA), bred in Germany by Heinz Mader and owned by Khalifa Mohamed Saif Mohamed Al Suwaidi. The second group of yearling fillies was another highly
competitive class. The winner, with 91.60 points, was the exquisitely refined Kamilia GK (EKS Farajj × Jameela Al Shahania), bred and owned by Gavriel Boaron. She later went on to claim the Silver medal in the final championship. Securing second place with 91.30 points was Forelocks Ybo (Exagon OS × Forelock’s Yinx), a European entry bred and owned by Forelocks Arabians from the Netherlands. Invited by Al Shiraa, she proved to be a strong competitor against the Emirate-based horses—a fantastic achievement for her breeder and owner. Third place, with 91 points, was awarded to MZ Afaal (Al Aryam Hasheem × QR Andrea), bred and owned by Khalifa Abdulla Mohammed Thani Al Nuami. The last yearling filly class had a clear standout. The ultra-refined SQ Ghandoura (SQ Sager × Miss Enzo RLC), bred by Al Saqran Stud and owned by Hanaya Arabian Horse Stud (Switzerland), dominated her class with a grand total of 91.90 points. She later took home
the Gold medal in the final championship. Second place, with 90.50 points, went to Rahima H (Rabdan R × Abha Rahima), bred by Ahmed Mohamed Saeed Bin Frash Al Kindi and owned by H.E. Ali Salem Obaid Al Kaabi. Rounding out the top three was Sheikha Alyah (SMA Magic One × Ametista Al Jade), bred and owned by Mohaned Ahmed Abdullatif Ahmed Al Ali, scoring 90.10 points.
Next up were four highly competitive junior filly classes. In class 2A of the 2-years old fillies, the dominant winner was, Iman SVB (Royal Asad x OFW Jewel of Marwan), bred by Silver Box Southwest and owned by Hanaya Arabian horse stud from Switzerland. Scoring an impressive 91.80 points, she not only won her class but also claimed the Gold medal in the final Junior Filly Championship. Later, she was also awarded with the Best head Female trophy. Second place, with 91.30 points, went to Amaya MX (Exagon OS × Aurora OS), bred and owned by Meixner Arabians. Closing the top three with 91.10 points was Sheikha Al Barakat (D Khair × VA Cha Chantal), bred by Khaled Barakat and owned by Rashid Ghanem Mohamed Obaid Alhajri. The next class of two-year-old fillies was fiercely contested, with the top five horses scoring very close together. The top two spots were secured by half-siblings. Winning with 92 points was the stunning AJ Najwa (Shanghai EA × AJ Norah), bred by Ajman Stud and owned by Khaled Ghanem Mubarak Alomairi. Later, in the championships, she was awarded the Silver medal. Finishing in second place, just behind her, was Esfera EA (Shanghai EA × Ebony EA), bred by Ganaderia Equus Arabians and owned by Rashid Ghanem Mohamed Obaid Alhajri, with a score of 91.90 points. Two fillies tied with 91.30 points, but it was Haya Al Fahaid (AJ
Nabhan × Sedrah Al Shahania), bred and owned by Mohamed Saeed Mohamed Al Fahaid Alhajeri, who secured third place by earning higher marks for type. The competition continued with the first class of threeyear-old fillies, where an outstanding performance secured the victory. Om El Bela Magnifica (Magic Magnifique × Om El Beladeena), bred by Om El Arab International and owned by Philip Johns (United Kingdom), was on fire and danced her way to the top with an outstanding 92.30 points—earning six perfect 20s for type. Later in the championships, she secured the Bronze medal. Second place, with 91.10 points, was AJH Shihanah (FA El Rasheem × Al Johrah AJH), bred and owned by Jasim Mohammed Abdulla Alshaer Alnaqbi. Closing the top three with 90.90 points was AJ Karama (Alexxander × Aja Caprice), bred and owned by Ajman Stud.

Senior stallions
Then it was time for the big boys—the classes everyone had been waiting for! Three stallion classes, featuring both young sires at the start of their breeding careers and proven champions, took center stage.
The first class of senior stallions featured ten impressive entries, creating a magnificent sight in the arena. The winner, with 91.70 points, was the elegant Al Aryam Barjes (Al Aryam Sari x Al Aryam Ballora), bred and owned by Al Aryam Arabians. Later, in the championships, this stallion claimed the bronze medal. Second place, with 91.10 points, went to JS AS Sultan (FA El Rasheem x D Khattafah), bred by Abdulrahman Mohamed Sharif Abdulrahman Albaidhaei and owned by Al Juwaher Arabian Horse Stud. Closing the top three was the beautifully moving Mabrook Alseiar (Ghazi Al Khazna x MAA Mayah), bred and owned by Al Seiar Arabian Horse Stud.
More stunning stallions were waiting for their turn in the next class, which featured an impressive eleven entries. The clear winner, with a remarkable score of 92 points, was the exceptionally typey EKS Sirajj (Ibn Farid x EKS Bint Helwah), bred by Elkasun Arabians and owned by Hanaya Arabian Horse Stud from Switzerland. Later, in the senior stallion championships, this stallion claimed both the gold medal and the prestigious title of Best in Show. Second place, with 91.60 points, went to the striking Al Aryam Shklaan (Excalibur EA x Al Aryam Shakeera), bred and owned by Al Aryam Arabians. He later secured the silver medal in the championships. Closing the top three, with 90.70 points, was Kanz Al Bahya (AJ Kafu x Aja Carina), bred by Ajman Stud and owned by Al Mosabbah Ali Mahanna Al Kaabi. This class also brought some unexpected excitement! One stallion decided to visit his owner in the VIP area—
an unplanned detour that left everyone unharmed but certainly made a statement about his elite status. Not to be outdone, another stallion opted to complete his trot round without a handler, reveling in his brief moment of freedom before being safely recaptured. Despite these surprises, the show continued smoothly for the rest of the day.
The final class of the day delivered the highest score of the entire show! Entertaining the crowd with his breathtaking movement, Fakhr Albateen (Pernal x Evitah), bred and owned by Ahmed Rashed Khadem Rashed Almuhairi, earned perfect 20s for movement, high scores for type, head, and neck, and strong marks for body. With an outstanding total of 93 points, he left no room for doubt as the leader of the class. However, despite his dominance in the class, he was unable to convince the judges in the championships and missed out on a medal. He did, however, receive the welldeserved trophy for Best Moving Horse of the Show. Second place in this class, with 91.90 points, went to Aned Al Hawajer (ES Harir x Besson Dreams), bred and owned by Ghanem Mohamed Obaid Alhajri. Closing the top three, with 91.20 points, was D Mashji (Shanghai EA x D Jowan), bred by Dubai Arabian Horse Stud and owned by Ras Al Khaimah Arabian Horse Stud. With breathtaking competition, exceptional quality, and unforgettable moments, this year’s show proved to be a true celebration of the Arabian horse. From the promising young colts to the powerful and refined senior stallions, each class highlighted the dedication of breeders, owners, and handlers in preserving and enhancing the beauty, elegance, and athleticism of this magnificent breed.
European horses were particularly successful, securing top placements across multiple classes. Many of these outstanding contenders were generously invited by Sheikha Fatima bint Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan of Al Shiraa Stud, whose dedication to the Arabian horse breed continues to strengthen the global connection between breeders and competitors. This gesture not only elevated the level of competition but also Encouraged international unity and appreciation among breeders and appreciation for the finest bloodlines in the world. The championships crowned the best of the best, with outstanding performances that will be remembered for years to come. Whether it was the grace of the mares, the energy of the colts, or the commanding presence of the stallions, every horse brought something special to the arena. The electrifying atmosphere, combined with the enthusiasm of the spectators, made this event not just a competition but a showcase of passion and excellence in Arabian horse breeding.

by Matteo Chincarini
Fabio Viale is the artist who stands out on the contemporary sculpture scene with an artistic language that challenges common perceptions of matter and space. Born in Cuneo (Italy) in 1975, his work is distinguished by his technical mastery of marble and by a research that develops around concepts such as illusion, ambiguity and the transformation of matter. His works, while anchored in classicism, are deeply contemporary, capable of questioning the very meaning of monumentality and sculpture today.
Monumentality, historically associated with the celebration of power and memory, takes on a new meaning in Viale. The artist does not simply reproduce sculptural archetypes, but reinterprets them through games of perception that destabilize the viewer. His work is never a passive adherence to tradition, but rather a dialogue between past and present, between the fixity of marble and the ephemerality of contemporaneity. In an age when the image reigns supreme and the virtual often replaces the real, Viale’s sculptures bring attention back to the material and its ability to generate surprising illusions.
One of the distinctive features of his work is precisely the ability to deceive the eye. Marble, heavy by definition, is transformed into something light, elastic, malleable.
One example is his famous floating marble “Boat,” an emblem of this research. The material, associated with hardness and staticity, becomes a dynamic element, capable of plowing through water in a challenge to the laws of physics and perception. With the same logic, works such as “Suprema,” winner of the Cairo Prize in 2014, reproduce everyday objects, in this case a wooden fruit box, with impressive material fidelity, subverting the viewer’s expectations.
Viale’s works seem to defy the inherent weight of marble. He makes sculptures that appear to be made of paper, rubber or wood, but are actually carved in stone. The formal paradox then becomes a tool for reflection on the very nature of matter and the perception of reality. With impeccable technique, the artist manages to render the softness of rubber, the folds of paper, the grain of wood, deceiving the eye and prompting the audience to question the true essence of the objects they observe.
Another peculiar aspect of his work is the reinterpretation of classical statuary through the inclusion of contemporary tattoos. Viale reproduces masterpieces of antiquity, from the Laocoon to the Venus, and transforms them into bodies marked by modern symbols, including tattoos of criminal, oriental or iconographic inspiration. In this way, the artist creates a short circuit between the ideal of classical beauty
and the imagery of underground culture, revealing the transformative power of art. Tattoos, symbols of belonging, rebellion or memory, are grafted onto eternal marble bodies, suggesting new narratives and an uninterrupted dialogue between past and present.
Underlying Fabio Viale’s work is a deep philosophical inquiry into the nature of matter and sensory perception. Optical and tactile illusion becomes a means of questioning reality and our beliefs.
Sculpture, which has always been considered the art of solidity and permanence, becomes fluctuating, deceptive, almost ephemeral in Viale’s hands. This approach is not just an exercise in style, but a reflection on the contemporary condition, in which the boundaries between real and virtual, authentic and artificial, are increasingly blurred.
Fabio Viale ranks among the most innovative contemporary sculptors, able to restore vitality to a material as ancient as marble through a language that speaks to the present. With his extraordinary technical skill and conceptual spirit, he creates works that challenge our perception, transforming weight into lightness, solidity into illusion. His work is not only a celebration of matter, but an invitation to look beyond the surface of things, to discover new dimensions of reality through the most sophisticated deception: that of art.
In addition to his artistic production, Viale participates in major international exhibitions, consolidating his presence on the global scene. His works are exhibited in public and museum spaces, always eliciting a strong emotional and intellectual impact.
The artist continues to experiment with new techniques and materials, expanding his expressive vocabulary and keeping alive his research into the perception of matter. His work demonstrates that sculpture, far from being a static art relegated to the past, is a constantly evolving means of expression, capable of dialoguing with our time and opening new perspectives on the concept of reality and illusion.
