t is commonly believed that the progeny of two successful show horses do not necessarily need to exhibit all the admired traits of their sire and dam or to follow in their footsteps as show champions. Genetics, as we know, can be quite tricky, which in turn makes breeding an unpredictable venture full of unexpected outcomes. It is enough to look at some full siblings to understand that mating ofthe same individuals may each time bring a totally different result from a phenotypical point of view. A similar level of uncertainty is related to crossing two show winners. However, it happens that some families or strains carry a great genetic potential which continually results in producing remarkable representatives of the Arabian breed who become successful show champions.
Is it all in the family? This question inevitably comes to mind while looking at the long list of European champions bred by the majestic Michalow Stud of Poland. Established in 1953, until now Michalow can boast about breeding 65 gold, silver and bronze medallist of this prestigious title show. For many Arabian horse enthusiasts, this Polish state stud is synonymous with the stunning show champions representing the Saklawi type; predominantly grey, in large

frames, characterised by impeccable Arabian type, commanding charisma, refined head with huge dark eyes, a swan-like neck, correct conformation and powerful movement. $ames like Emanacja, Emigrantka, Ekstern, El Dorada, Emigrant, Emira, Emandoria echo in the ears ofall breeders around the world, making their hearts beat faster. What is common for all these horses that keep enchanting the crowds anywhere they appear? All of them took a place on the podium at the European Championships, some of them more than once, and all of them belong to one family, the true genetic treasury of Michalow, the dam line of Milordka, widely known as the champion producing E-line. $o wonder the greatest potential of the stud is continuously associated with this particular dam line. More than half of the 65 medals won by Michalow were awarded to the members of the meritorious Milordka family. What is more, 23 European champions were the result of what one may consider a Michalow golden cross; the combination of the fine blood of E-line with the all-pervading sire line of Saklawi I, whose genetic potential of passing the most desirable traits ofSaklawi strains comes with the name. Is it a coincidence that the first ever Michalow mare to have won the European champion title was the daughter of the

legendary Estokada (Amurath Sahib x Saga by Hardy), foaled in 1951 in Klemensow and believed to be the main progenitor ofthe Milordka dam line? Twenty years after the breeding programme of Michalow was established, the twelve-year-old elegant Estebna 1961 (by $abor) became first Michalow bred European Champion Senior Mare almost as if she was the first sign of the stud’s spectacular success. She has started a long list of European champions representing the family of Milordka born at the Polish state stud. Making the list of all the superb show winners who over the years have contributed to the fame and glory of Milordka family would surely make this read a rather boring exercise. In the end, almost all Arabian horse aficionados are familiar with such names as Emanacja, Emigrantka, Ekstern, Emanda, Emigrant, El Dorada, Emira, Emandoria or Equator. However, it is interesting to look at the correlations between various champions within this dominant dam line, where the powerful genetic potential has often prevailed over the unpredictability of breeding. Thus, the gorgeous grey Emigrantka 1985 (Eukaliptus x Emigracja by Palas), who ended up on the European

Championships podium two times, as a junior filly in 1987 and as a senior mare in 1994, is the dam of 2001 European Champion Senior Stallion, Emigrant 1991 (by Ararat), as well as the widely admired El Dorada 1998 (by Sanadik El Shaklan), who doubled the success of her amazing dam by taking the place on the podium four times; in 2000 as a junior filly and later in 2002, 2004 and 2012 as a mature mare. In 1988, Emigrantka’s full sister, the ethereal Emanacja 1986, was crowned a Champion Junior Filly while Endel 1981 (Palas x Elwira by Elf), the maternal grandson of the first Michalow bred European champion Estebna, became Vice-champion Senior Stallion. Another family member that tail female traces back to Estebna is the show superstar, Ekstern 1994 (Monogramm x Ernestyna by Piechur), who won the title of Champion Senior Stallion at the beginning of the new millennium. Extending this fantastic family further, Emanacja blessed Michalow with outstanding offspring, including her two incomparable daughters, the 1999 European Champion Senior Mare Emilda 1990 (by Pamir) and the 2001 Vice-champion Senior Mare Emanda 1996 (by Ecaho). Both broodmares continued the long family tradition ofproducing European champions. Following in her dam’s footsteps, Emandorissa 2012 (Abha

She started her lustrous show career as a yearling in 2005 and she won the titles of Vice-champion and Champion Junior Filly two years in a row. As a senior mare, she became Bronze Champion in 2009 and Gold Champion in 2010 and 2013. Another phenomenal family member who tail female traces back to Estebna, the striking bay Equator 2010 (QR Marc x Ekliptyka by Ekstern), was never defeated at the European Championships. He became gold medallist four times; in 2012 as a two-year-old colt and three times as a senior male competitor (2014, 2015 and 2018). In the same year that Equator triumphed as a junior colt, his dam’s full brother Esparto 2002, sired by the 2000 European Champion Ekstern, won a silver medal as a senior stallion. This is not an exhaustive list of all the European champions descending from the esteemed E-line, however it still paints a picture of a prodigious family, whose magnificent members are more than capable of taking European showgrounds by storm.

Another family of Michalow whose members have shone in European showrings is the glorious dam line ofGazella d. b. So far, the desert bred Gazella is the proud progenitor of twelve European champions. One of the most precious branches of this family tail female traces back to the legendary grey Carmen 1942 (Trypolis x Wilga by Ofir), bred by Janow Podlaski Stud and best known as the dam of the epoch sire Comet 1953 (by Abu Afas). Through her beautiful flea-bitten grey daughter Cumparsita 1960 (by Gwarny), exported to the USA in 1976, and her granddaughter Kometa 1971 (Elf x Cumparsita), Carmen commenced a sub-family of very successful show horses, of which the charismatic chestnut Kwestura 1995 (Monogramm x Kwesta by Pesennik), two times European Champion Senior Mare (2000 and 2009), is probably the most recognised representative. Her son sired by Poganin, the stunning snow-white Kabsztad 2006, stepped into the shoes of his dam, becoming Vice-champion Junior Stallion in 2008 and Silver Champion Senior Stallion at the last year’s European show in Prague. Another splendid subfamily of Gazella d. b. traces back to Tersk bred chestnut Porfira 1953 (Priboj x Operetka by Ofir), imported to Poland to bring back the precious blood of the treasured

Taraszcza 1937 (Enwer Bey x Gazella II by Koheilan d. b. ), bred by Janow Podlaski Stud but captured by the Soviet troops and taken to Russia in 1939. The most renowned members of this sub-family include the 2003 European Champion Junior Mare and 2006 Vice-champion Senior Mare Palanga 2002 (Ekstern x Panika by Eukaliptus), the 2013 Bronze Champion Yearling Filly and 2014 Gold Champion Junior Filly, Piacolla 2012 (Enzo x Polonica by Ekstern), whose dam is Palanga’s full sister, as well as the 2019 Silver Champion Senior Mare Poganinka 2015 (El Omari x Pentra by Poganin), whose powerful animated trot has been highly appreciated by the judges. The superb dam line of Selma d. b. started in Michalow with the acquisition of the bay mare Zlota Iwa 1958 (Arax x Cesima by Witraz), who produced the amazing grey Zazula 1972 when crossed with the Tersk bred stallion $egatiw 1945 ($aseem x Taraszcza by Enwer Bey). In 1981, Zazula became Vice-champion Senior Mare at the European Championships in Paris, whereas her gorgeous grey granddaughter Zagrobla 1994 (Monogramm x Zguba by Enrilo) mirrored her amazing achievement twice in 2000 and 2007. Zagrobla’s own outstanding daughter, Zigi Zana

2009 (by QR Marc), also won a silver medal twice but she did not have to wait for her success until she became senior mare. Her career commenced quickly, with two Silver European Champion titles collected by the time she was only two years old. The Slawuta bred mare Szweykowska started the family which in 2000 celebrated a 200th anniversary of documented breeding and can boast about having the same number of European champion titles to its credit as the splendid Selma d. b. Currently, there are two main subfamilies of Szweykowska in Michalow; both started by the Janow Podlaski bred chestnut daughters of the stallion Wojski; Werbena 1945 (out of Kalina Wnuczka by Koheilan I) and Fanfara 1945 (out of Cesia by Lirnik). Through her excellent chestnut daughter Wadera 1957 (by Doktryner), Werbena started a successful sub-family with such shining stars of the European showrings as the 2011 Bronze and 2012 Gold Champion Junior Filly, the wonderful dark bay Wieza Mocy 2010 (QR Marc x Wieza Marzen by Ekstern) or the spectacular snow-white 2018 Gold Senior Mare Wildona 2014 (Shanghai EA x Wilda by Gazal Al Shaqab). full potential until last year, when the phenomenal dark bay Ferrum 2019 (Morion x Ferrmaria by El Omari) became Gold Champion Yearling Colt at the European Championships in Prague. Last but not least, the remarkable dam line of Rodania, not very high in number, has got four European champion titles to its credit. Acquired with the purchase of the grey Pienoczka 1952 (Pawodok x $aturalistka by $aseem) from Tersk Stud in 1956, was further extended by Pienoczka’s only progeny, the valuable grey Planeta 1958 (by $abor). The European champions that tail female trace back to Planeta include the 2007 Gold Champion Junior Filly Pistoria 2004 (Gazal Al Shaqab x Palmira by Monogramm), the 2014 Silver Champion Yearling Filly and 2017 Silver Champion Senior Mare Pustynia Kahila 2013 (Kahil Al Shaqab x Pustynna Malwa by Ekstern) and the 2020 Silver Champion Junior Colt Ptolemeusz 2018 (Zloty Medal x Parmana by Al Maraam). At the moment, Michalow Stud is the home of twelve different dam lines, of which the aforementioned five families produced approximately 94% of all homebred

European champions. It is no coincidence that the potential participants of the 2021 European Championships, competing under the Michalow flag, include the members of these five champion producing families. The most numerous Michalow family of Milordka will be represented by five classy contenders. The youngest generation of the family will feature two beautiful bay yearlings by the 2014 Silver European Champion Yearling Colt Morion; the feminine filly El Mariella (out of El Marina by Ganges) and the classy colt El Maestro (out ofEl Medonia by Shanghai EA). On the dam side, they are greatgrandchildren of another European champion, the exquisite El Dorada, through her beautiful bay daughter El Medina 2004 (by Gazal Al Shaqab). Although they are still very young, both of them have already won a few medals in their short show career, including the Gold Champion title in their respective categories during the 2021 Bialka Junior Spring Show. Later on, El Maestro added the 2021 Polish $ational Bronze Champion Yearling Colt title to his show record, while El Mariella managed to win another two awards during the recent Prague Intercup; the bronze medal in the general competition and a silver one in the EuroCup. refined grey El Medida (Morion x El Medara by Shanghai EA), will compete in the two-year-old fillies’ section. So far, she was unconquered at the Bialka Junior Spring Show two years in a row. In 2020, she won a gold medal in the Yearling Fillies Championship, whereas this year she became Unanimous Gold Champion Junior Filly as well as Best in Show, leaving all the other competitors behind. In 2021, El Medida also won her class during the prestigious Mediterranean and Arab Countries Arabian Horse Championships in Menton, France. Another junior female contender, the three-year-old charismatic grey El Esmera (Sahm El Arab x Esmeraldia by QR Marc), represents a very special branch of E-line. As the granddaughter of the mesmerising Emandoria, El Esmera is under a lot of pressure. Up to this point, her achievements include the silver medal in the Junior Fillies Championship at the 2021 Bialka Junior Spring Show and the Bronze Champion Junior Filly title at the 2021 Prague EuroCup. During this year’s Polish $ational Show, she won the class of three-year-old fillies and the Top Five title in the Junior Fillies Championship. The only senior contender coming from the Milordka dam line is the four-year-old classy chestnut El Bellisima (Ascot DD x Ekliptyka by Ekstern). Her

commanding charisma must have stemmed from her amazing ancestors. Being a maternal half-sister to the unconquered Equator, tail female El Bellisima traces back to the first Michalow bred European Champion Mare, Estebna. As the sole senior representant ofE-line, she has a lot of responsibility on her shoulders. However, her show career looks very promising as she has already won a few titles both as a junior filly and as a senior mare. As a yearling and a two-year old, El Bellisima became Silver Champion Junior Filly at the Polish $ationals, while this year she reached for her first success as a senior contender, becoming Polish $ational Bronze Champion Mare at the Janow Podlaski show. The remaining four families have each got one potential participant. The gifted family of Gazella d. b. will have one senior representative in the form of the four-year-old pristine Protekcja (Ekstern x Pentra by Poganin). As one of the last daughters of the excellent Ekstern, close cousin to the precious Palanga and maternal half-sister to the powerfully moving Poganinka, Protekcja proudly continues the legacy of this champion making dam line. After this successful start of the European show season, she managed to win three silver medals; one at the Polish $ationals and another two at the Intercup and EuroCup in Prague. The dam lines ofSelma d.b. and Rodania d. b. will be represented by two yearlings who have just started their show career. The zingy Zlota Mysl (Equator x Zlota Bulla by Kahil Al Shaqab), sired by the unconquered European Champion Equator, tail female traces back to one ofthe first Michalow bred European winners, the wonderful Zazula. Such aristocratic ancestry seems obliging hence Zlota Mysl is expected to have some successes as a show horse already. And she does indeed. She won her class and the Top Five title during the 2021 Bialka Junior Spring Show and became Polish $ational Silver Champion Yearling Filly in Janow Podlaski shortly after. After becoming Silver Champion Yearling Colt in Bialka, he won the Top Five title at the Polish $ationals and the bronze medal during the EuroCup in Prague. Last but not least, the marvellous member of the Szweykowska family, the two-year-old flamboyant Ferrum, closes the list of the potential participants of the 2021 European Championships bred and owned by Michalow Stud. The impressive number of Michalow bred European champions indicates the great genetic potential stored in their invaluable herd of Arabian horses. And although crossing two superb show champions does not always guarantee outstanding results, a high concentration of the precious genes has helped the stud create one of the most admired and cherished breeding programmes in the world. The balance between the preservation of existing families and careful selection of the highest quality breeding material is the key to the stud’s inspiring international success. Keeping a variety of dam lines adds greatly to the genetic diversity of the bloodstock while choosing only the most prepotent individuals ensures the unprecedented breeding progress so palpable in the 68 years ofMichalow’s existence. 65 European Champion titles in the last 48 years is an accomplishment no other stud farm in the world can

brag about. What is more, it will not be easy to repeat or catch up with the astonishing achievements of Michalow as new generations of Arabian horse elite are born at the stud year after year. The 2021 European Championships in Verona will be an excellent opportunity to admire the youngest generations representing the famous Polish state stud. Without a doubt, some of them will follow in the footsteps of their legendary ancestors and become legends themselves. History has shown that the long register of European champions bred by Michalow Stud is never an exhaustive list. It will soon be extended with the names of horses born to continue the legacy of their great ancestors and to spread the magic of Michalow on European showgrounds. At the end of the day, the European Championships would not have been the same without the magnificent Arabian horses ‘made in Michalow’.

The two senior stallion classes were not very crowded but did not fail in keeping us excited until the end of the day. After the presentation of 7 elegant young stallions in class 10, two 4-year-old chestnut representatives of the Polish state studs; Erantis (Ascot DD x Eugara by Om El Bellissimo) from Janow Podlaski and Belmari (El Omari x Bint Ermina by Kabsztad) representing Malopolska Hodowla Roslin, took the first two places, scoring 91. 30 and 91. 10 points respectively. The last class of the day belonged to the impressive grey Paris, sired by Kahil Al Shaqab and out of the reigning Queen of Janow Podlaski, already 20years-old but still stunningly beautiful Palmeta (by Ecaho).
Just one look at the show catalogue and everyone knew that Saturday will be even more exciting due to the high numbers and exceptional quality of the female contenders. The show started shortly after 9 a. m. and continued until late afternoon. The first three classes that featured yearling fillies were a very interesting mixture of horses bred by the state studs and the private breeders and sired by all sorts of stallions. The first three places in the ranking of class 1A were shared among three beautiful bay fillies; Bogini Roz PA (Kahil Al Shaqab x Black Rose by Abyad AA), bred and owned by PPH Parys, the Janow Podlaski-bred Basilea (Pogrom x Bambina by Kahil Al Shaqab) and the representative of Chrcynno Palace Stud, Psyche Apsara (Ghaith Al Zobair x Psyche Victoria by Ekstern). Their final marks were as follows: 91. 60 for Bogini Roz PA, 90. 90 for Basilea and 90. 50, including a 20 for type, for Psyche Apsara. Significantly larger class 1B was the win of the beautiful bay Equator daughter Zlota Mysl (out of Zlota Bulla by Kahil Al Shaqab), bred and owned by Michalow Stud. She scored 91. 80 points and was followed by the elegant bay representative of PPH Parys, Kachetia PA (Morion x Kalahari by Ajman Moniscione), who received 91. 40 points, as well as the charming grey Estymacja FA (Empower x Estema by Emerald J), who scored 91. 00 points, with a 20 for head and neck, for her breeder and owner, Falborek Arabians. We saw some pretty high marks in this class, including 92. 00 points and 2x20 for movement for Exfaria Zalia, bred and owned by Katarzyna Dolinska-Witkowska, 91. 80 points for the Janow Podlaski-bred Babetta and 91. 50 points for El Mariella, representing Michalow Stud. The judges were even more generous in class 2A, where all the 8 fillies scored above 90 points. The highest marks of 92. 30 points

Receiving a 20 for type and 2x20 for his spectacular powerful trot, the 7-year-old Paris received the welldeserved highest score of the day – 93. 10 points. The elegantly trotting grey Psyche Ull (Forteynas Magic x Psyche Victoria by Ekstern) reached for the second place in the class, making his breeder and owner, Chrcynno Palace Stud, happy and proud. Psyche Ull received the same final score as the Michalow-bred Zloty Medal (QR Marc x Zlota Orda by Pesal) but higher marks for movement made the former qualify for the championships. By the time the sun set over the spectacular Janow Podlaski State Stud on late Friday afternoon, we already knew all the male contestants ofthe Sunday championships.

POLISH NATIONAL ARABIAN HORSE SHOW PRIDE OF POLAND were achieved by the fantastic dark bay Forga (Morion x Forgissima by Vitorio TO), bred and owned by Michalow Stud. Forga received a 20 for type and another one for movement and qualified for the championships alongside the refined grey Melarosa GA (AV Cloud Dancer x Marwtyna by Marwteyn), representing GA Rancho Artur Gibala. Melarosa’s marks for head and neck included 3x20 and her high final score of 92. 10 points resulted in the second position in the class ranking. Class 2B, the continuation of the 2-year-old fillies, belonged to the exotic grey Mamma Mia (E. S. Harir x VA Magnifica by Magic Magnifique), bred and owned by Tomasz Tarczynski. Her impressive score of 92. 70 points, including 2x20 for type and 5x20 for head and neck, took her straight to the championships. Mamma Mia was joined by the representative of Michalow Stud, the powerfully trotting bay daughter of Zloty Medal and Pustynna Kalia (by Esparto). Pustynna Lilia scored exactly 92. 00 points with a well-deserved 20 for movement. Her charming stable companion, the 3-year-old bold and beautiful El Esmera (Sahm El Arab x Esmeraldia by QR Marc) was the judges’ favourite in the following class. This lovely grey filly made the Michalow team proud with her final score of 92. 60 points, including 5x20; 3x20 for type and 2x20 for head and neck. The pride and joy of Alicja )ajmowicz, the goodlooking bay El Farida (RFI Farid x Esmeta by Ekstern), also qualified for the championships with a total score of92. 10 points.
Senior Female Classes However, the highest scores and the magical goosebumpgiving moments were waiting for us after lunch break. Every year, the senior female classes of the Polish )ational Show amaze the audience with breath-taking beauty and superb quality. In the first section of 4-6-year-old mares, the two qualifying places were divided between the state studs, with the captivating chestnut representative of Michalow Stud, El Bellisima (Ascot DD x Ekliptyka by Ekstern), taking the lead ahead ofthe Janow Podlaski-bred flying-in-the-air bay Pila, a 4-year-old daughter of Abyad AA and Piba (by Gazal Al Shaqab). The judges’ generosity in distributing maximum marks resulted in very impressive final scores for both

mares. El Bellissima received 5x20 for type, 3x20 for head and neck and 2x20 for movement, which gave her the total of 93. 80 points, while Pila, receiving ‘only’ one 20 for type and 3x20 for movement, finished on the class podium with 93. 20 points. In class 7B, the scores soared even higher, with the two qualifying mares reaching above 94 points. This time, it was a decisive triumph ofMichalow Stud. Their beautiful bay Ekstern daughter Protekcja (out of Pentra by Poganin) bewitched the judges with her exotic type (4x20), perfectly shaped head and neck (3x20), correct conformation and powerful ground-covering trot (5x20). Her final mark of 94. 40 points seemed impossible to be defeated, but the show was not over yet. Her maternal halfsister Poganinka (by El Omari) came second with only 0. 10 points difference in the final score. Typey (5x20), with an

exotic head and nicely shaped neck (2x20) and equally powerful animated trot (5x20), the charismatic chestnut Poganinka followed her half-sister to the championships with the total score of 94. 30 points. The first division of 710-year-old mares was also an interesting battle between two Michalow-bred mares representing a completely different type of Arabian horse. The big bold dynamically trotting Wieza )imf (Kahil Al Shaqab x Wieza Marzen by Ekstern), now representing Klikowa Arabians, triumphed over the ethereal and exotic Wildona (Shanghai EA x Wilda by Gazal Al Shaqab), who was not really in the mood to move. Even 4x20 for type, 4x20 for head and neck and the total score of 93. 20 points was not enough to beat Wieza )imf, whose performance received a total of 93. 60 points, including 2x20 for type and 5x20 for movement. The second

division of 7-10-year-old mares was dominated by the participants from Janow Podlaski. The first position was triumphantly taken by the 10-year-old beautifully maturing grey Euzona (Om El Bellissimo x Euzetia by Etogram) who received a full set of 20s for type plus 2x20 for head and neck and 2x20 for movement. With a total score of 94. 20 points, she finished ahead of her 9-year-old chestnut stable companion Paterna, the daughter oftwo legends who passed away not so long ago, the significant sire of champions, Eden C, and the unforgettable Pinga (by Gazal Al Shaqab). After witnessing so much beauty and feminine charm, I expected the excitement to calm down while admiring the oldest mares. I could not have been more wrong! The temperature kept rising to reach its peak until the last contestant of the day left the showring. And what a mare it
Paris (Kahil Al Shaqab x Palmeta by Ecaho)
was! The 19-year-old precious pearl proudly bred and owned by Michalow Stud, the spectacular snow-white Palanga. Sired by the show horse supreme, Ekstern, and out of the elegant Eukaliptus daughter, Panika, Palanga matured into such a magnificent mare that no words can describe. At the age of19, she simply has it all; refined type (5x20), a perfectly shaped head and neck (3x20), great body and top line (19. 5!) and remarkable movement (5x20). The judges made us wait a moment for the final score which, as everybody expected, was incredibly high – 94. 50 points! Palanga, the 19-year-old Queen of Michalow Stud and the highest scoring horse of the Polish )ational Show, left the arena in the last rays ofthe setting sun, leaving the audience in awe…

Championships and Special Awards Very early on Sunday, the excitement and anxiety before the upcoming championships were almost tangible in the cool morning air. The competition restarted at 9 a. m. with the presentation of 9 beautiful yearling fillies. The judges did not really struggle with choosing the gold medallist and soon we knew that Bogini Roz PA became the Unanimous Gold Champion Yearling Filly. Her proud breeder and owner, Agata Parys, came up with a very adequate name for this refined bay filly as it can be directly translated as the Goddess of Roses. Red roses of a Gold Champion she proudly wore, accompanied by excited and proud PPH Parys team. The silver and bronze medals were distributed between the two remaining class winners; the Michalow-bred beautiful bay Zlota Mysl and the typey grey Exfaria Zalia, bred and owned by Katarzyna Dolinska-Witkowska. Chrcynno Palace Stud and their exotic bay Psyche Apsara secured one of the top five titles, finishing the competition ahead of the beautifully moving bay Babetta, who represented the hosts of the show. The Yearling Colts Championship was a wonderful victory ofGhaith Al Zobair as a sire. His two equally exotic and refined bay sons; )ahil Al Khalediah, representing Polska AKF, and Empirial Babel, bred and owned by Wieza Babel, became Gold and Silver Champions respectively. The last place on the podium as well as one of the top five titles were taken by two bay representatives of Michalow Stud. The elegant El Maestro became bronze medallist, leaving no space on the podium for Porto Rico who had to settle for the fourth place in the ranking. Last but not least, the typey grey Glorius M closed the prize-giving ceremony next to his breeder and owner, Piotr Podgorny of M Arabians. The podium in the Junior Fillies Championship was occupied by the private breeders only. The exotic grey Mamma Mia repeated her success from last year, when she became Gold Champion Yearling Filly. She is growing into an exquisite representative of the Arabian breed which did
POLISH NATIONAL ARABIAN HORSE SHOW PRIDE OF POLAND not go unnoticed by the judges, who unanimously chose her to occupy the topmost position on the podium. Mamma Mia also added a special award for Best Head to the fastgrowing collection of trophies of her breeder and owner, Tomasz Tarczynski. The judges were divided in their decision about the remaining medallists and with a difference of only one point, the refined grey Melarosa GA, bred and owned by GA Rancho, became Silver Champion Junior Filly, while the pride and joy of Alicja )ajmowicz, the charming bay El Farida, reached for the bronze. This time, the stud farms had to settle for two top five titles, both collected by Michalow for their 3-year-old elegant grey El Esmera and a year younger beautifully moving bay Forga. However, Michalow Stud were triumphant in the next championship, when their fantastic Ferrum claimed the gold unanimously, repeating his spectacular success from last year. As a Gold Champion Junior Colt, he also received a special award funded by Krzysztof Gozdzialski of Falborek Arabians and named after the First Lady of the Polish Arabian horse breeding, the late Izabella Pawelec-Zawadzka. Ferrum’s phenotypically distant stable mate, the 3-year-old grey Pointer, took a place on the podium as the Bronze Champion, giving the Michalow team another reason to be proud. During the prize-giving ceremony, the two representatives of Michalow were separated by the silver medallist, the Janow Podlaski-bred refined bay Czaro. The only top five title available in this championship was given to the athletic Almagram, accompanied by his breeder and owner, Alicja )apiora, during the award-giving ceremony. Traditionally, the Senior Mares Championship is one of the most expected moments of the Polish )ationals. This time it was no different. As always, the jury had an extremely challenging task of choosing the three medallists and the two top five winners from among ten breathtakingly beautiful, powerfully moving and regally bred female representatives ofthe Polish breeding programme. The aweinspiring victory of Michalow, the breeder and owner of all three medallists and one top five winning mare, was a perfect crowning for all the hard work oftheir team. As was
SHOWS AND EVENTS
expected, the 19-year-old embodiment of feminine charm, the gorgeous grey Palanga, became Gold Champion Senior Mare. However, her win was not as obvious as it may seem. Her much younger paternal half-sister Protekcja, who also represents the same dam line of Gazella DB in Michalow, was nipping at her heels. Both received the same score in the championship but this time the ethereal beauty of the mature mare prevailed over the powerfully vibrant representative of a younger generation, and with a minimal difference in the class score, Protekcja had to give the highest place on the podium to her older half-sister. Scoring only two points less in the championship than Palanga and Protekcja, their classy chestnut stable companion, El Bellissima, was awarded with the Bronze Champion Senior Mare title. The mesmerising mares ofMichalow were joined
Palanga (Ekstern x Panika by Eukaliptus)
for the prize-giving ceremony by the exquisite Euzona, bred and owned by Janow Podlaski Stud. Euzona ended up offthe podium but still ahead of another Michalow beauty, the 7year-old wonderful Wildona, who clearly was not in the mood for a show. While the senior mare competition was dominated by Michalow, the fame and glory in the Senior Stallions Championship belonged to Janow Podlaski Stud. This time, the judges had very few doubts as to who should wear the gold and silver trophies on their shoulders. The 7-year-old masculine regally bred Paris became Unanimous Gold Champion and collected the trophy alongside his charismatic chestnut stable companion Erantis, who was chosen as the Silver Champion by 5 out of6 judges. Janow Podlaski-bred medallists were joined on the podium by another classy chestnut, the 4-year-old Belmari, bred and owned by Malopolska Hodowla Roslin. The last award in the Senior Stallions Championship went to Chrcynno Palace Stud and their big and beautifully moving Psyche Ull. It was an immense pleasure to see the 19-year-old Queen of Michalow, the pure Polish pearl Palanga, to become the shining star ofthis year’s show. After claiming the throne in the Senior Mares Championship, she collected a few more special awards, including the prestigious WAHO trophy, awarded to outstanding representatives of the Arabian breed. Palanga’s impressive show record was further extended by Best in Show, Highest Scored Mare and Best Mover titles. As she meets all the criteria necessary to be called Pure Polish, she also received Best in Show award in this category. Moreover, Michalow Stud had a few more reasons to celebrate as they collected the Best Breeder trophy, while the member of their team, Pawel Syliwoniuk, became Best Trainer and Best Handler of the show. As a symbol of solidarity between the Polish breeders and to appreciate the hard work of his former school colleague, Pawel passed the Best Handler award to Mateusz Tokarski, who has done great job for Janow Podlaski Stud. The hosts of the show also collected a very special award for the Best Racehorse of the )ational Show. The 7-year-old gorgeous

grey moving machine Adelita (Kahil Al Shaqab x Altamira by Ekstern) is living proof of the old Polish breeding philosophy that an Arabian horse can be both a show champion and a racetrack winner. Although this year, among such fierce competition, Adelita did not win any medal, her total score of92. 50 points is a proofthat she has all the potential to do so in the future.
Pride of Poland and Summer Sale The bewitching beauty and powerful performance abilities of the Polish Arabians have for years attracted buyers from all over the world. The 52nd edition of the Pride of Poland sale was no exception. A carefully selected offer consisted of 16 high quality individuals in all ‘shapes and sizes’, representing various bloodlines and exhibiting different qualities. Out of13 mares and 3 stallions offered in the main auction, the striking bay Equator (QR Marc x Ekliptyka by Ekstern) was the indisputable star of this year’s sale. Bred by Michalow Stud, Equator is a superb show horse with a very impressive show record, including the prestigious 2018 Gold World Champion Senior Stallion title. The final bid of €450. 000 was made by Alrajhiat Stud from Saudi Arabia, which means that Equator will now share the stables with the unforgettable Perfinka, sold in the previous edition of the Polish sale for €1. 250. 000. However, he was not the only
POLISH NATIONAL ARABIAN HORSE SHOW PRIDE OF POLAND
horse with a high selling price. His equally stunning stable companion Emandorissa (Abha Qatar x Emanda by Ecaho), 2020 Polish and European Silver Champion Mare and maternal half-sister to the legendary Emandoria, reached exactly the same price. This exquisite mare, bred to the magnificent Morion for 2022, will now join the impressive collection ofArabians owned by Al Thumama Stud in Qatar. Also Hanaya Stud from Switzerland are consistently increasing the number of Polish horses in their barns. After purchasing Alsa, Potentilla and Primera, there came a time for another Janow Podlaski-bred bay beauty to join the herd of Hanaya Stud. The 2-year-old Polish )ational and European Bronze Champion Yearling Filly, Brodnica (Pogrom x Bambina by Kahil Al Shaqab), was indeed an excellent choice. The price of €250. 000 that the Swiss stud decided to pay for Brodnica seems like a bargain for this bay beauty with so much showing and breeding potential and all her life ahead of her. Another amazing young breeding and show prospect was the exotically refined grey El Madera (Morion x El Medonia by Shanghai EA), bred by Michalow Stud. 2020 Polish )ational Silver Champion Yearling Filly found her new home in Czech Republic at Suweco Stud. )ina Suskievicova is known for her love and passion for the Polish horses, which she clearly demonstrated by paying €155. 000 for this 2-year-old topquality filly. Considering the continuous uncertainty of the
SHOWS AND EVENTS
market as well as the travelling restrictions due to the world-wide pandemics, the Pride of Poland sale was a spectacular success, with 14 out of 16 horses sold for the total of €1. 598. 000. Additional €254. 000 was raised during the Summer Sale on Monday, where all 19 horses offered for sale found new owners. It is great to see that more and more horses are purchased by the Polish private breeders and stay in their homeland to continue the legacy of their legendary ancestors. The Polish )ational Show and the accompanying auctions have always been more than a must-have event for all Arabian horse enthusiasts. For decades, it has been a great celebration ofthe Arabian horse in every sense ofthe word; the ceaseless celebration of the captivating creature which is so much more than meets the eye. In Poland, it is hundreds ofyears ofhistory and the people who were ready to sacrifice their lives to save the unique Polish breeding programme. May the names of the phenomenal Polish horses and their breeders echo in the ears of all Arabian horse lovers around the world and may the hypnotising sound of the hooves on the Polish soil resound for many more years to come. )o matter what is happening in the outside world, the great legacy of the Polish Arabian horse continues…

A HALF CENTURY OF PASSION FOR EGYPTIAN ARABIANS by Ms. Betty Finke and Klaus Beste z photos by Erwin Escher, Gigi Grasso, Joanna Jonientz, Jennifer Ogden, Nicole Sachs, Rick van Lent sen.
It is rare today for an Arabian breeding program to celebrate its 50th anniversary. And it is even rarer for such a breeding program to continue along its original foundation lines, never veering from its chosen path to follow short-lived fashions. El Thayeba is one of these rare stud farms. Moreover, despite changing its geographic location, it has remained in the hands of the same family until today.

her memory and chose her name for his stud. By this time, Dr. Tauschke was no longer alone in his activities. His wife Cornelia, who joined him in 1978, brought the one thing into the equation that had been missing: practical horsemanship. Having previously worked with warmblood horses, she consequently took over the daily care of all horses, the covering of the mares, monitoring the foaling, breaking in and riding of the youngstock, as well as show training.
Morawa (Nizam x Momtaza by Sahmeh and Mamlouka) with Viktoria Tauschke on her back
While the lovely El Thayeba resisted all efforts to get her in foal, Dr. Tauschke was successful with Momtaza at least once. The only foal she produced for him was a filly, which was moreover sired by a stallion, Nizam (Shaarawi x Nazeema), who was supposed to be sterile. This filly, Morawa, the improbable result of breeding a supposedly barren mare to an apparently sterile stallion, became one of the cornerstones of the stud. Both she and her daughter El Thay Mansoura (by Machmut) were graded “Elite” by the German registry, and this family is still

Tamara’s family still continues at El Thayeba today through one of its best mares, El Thay Toya. But there was more to come. In 1984, history was made when Dr. Nagel, in conjunction with the state studs Bábolna and Marbach, imported a young stallion from the USA. This young horse, whose name was Ansata Halim Shah, was at this point completely unproven, selected simply on his merits as an individual and the promise of his breeding. Dr. Nagel limited his use to 30 mares and was quite particular about whom he accepted. The Tauschkes were among the lucky few and determined to make the most of a unique opportunity. It was a gamble, of course, because this stallion was

During the final two years of her husband’s coma, Cornelia Tauschke continued the breeding program on her own and she continued it after his death. It was not an easy task in more than one respect. Following the many years of carefully building up its foundation, the introduction of Ansata Halim Shah had taken the breeding program a huge leap forward. by Al Waab Farm, Qatar, of El Habiel (also named Shaheen), and of the family of the famed Alidarra of Sakr Arabians, Egypt. The plan for the next decade in El Thayeba’s history is to add the genetic potential of these legends to the breeding program. Time will tell if these new plans can be realized and these dreams will become reality. But one thing is certain: after half a century of making Egyptian Arabian dreams take shape and come alive, the future of El Thayeba promises to be just as exciting. q

WE, WOMEN by Giorgia Mauri
Women can really make the difference. Around the world, more and more women are emerging and bringing about a change in the way they approach issues and apply different strategies to improve the world. The most important issues we are facing today, the global warming, see a large number of women engaged in leading societies and organisations to find plausible and feasible solutions. To act now. What is important is to act, not to give up, not to get lost in words. To act, even if it seems to be just a drop in the ocean. We Women can provide the decisive impetus for these actions. If we believe, nothing can stop us. Make the difference. Be the difference.

SPECIAL
First I want to thank mrs Giorgia Mauri for being part of this amazing project. My name is Annelieke Stoop, 32 years old and living together with my husband and our horses in the Southern part of The Netherlands. We bought our first Arabian mare Paroeska (Paraquay x Knitova s. Kniazj) when I was 12 years old. She is still living with me and is now 29 years old and gave us 5 beautiful daughters. We call our small stud Lazize Arabians and sometimes we breed a foal for show and sport. In 2003 me and my parents started to organize dressage competitions for Arabian horses. In 2004 we combined the dressage competition with a regional show. A few years later the Arabian Horse Weekend was born and has grown into one of the biggest International C-shows in Europe. Every year we try to grow and improve the event. We are working very hard for it and are busy with the show all year and we love doing it. That is the most important thing, to do something you are passionate about and work hard for it. Also I think it’s very important that you speak and listen to a lot of people. Do not be afraid to ask questions. For me the versatility and the character of the Arabian horse is what is so special about them. I competed almost all my life at (dressage) competitions with my Arabian horses and have won a lot of titles but in the end it’s not only about winning. More and more I see that the money is more important than the welfare of the horses. And I hope that we women can stop this from happening or at least from getting worse in the Arabian world. Each horse has a beautiful soul which we can learn a lot from. For me there’s no such thing as an ugly horse, they are all
special. It’s our task to breed healthy and strong horses as they have no choice. Especially if they are not good enough for the showring or other competitions, that they still can have a happy and healthy life. I will also do my best to have my contribution to the welfare of the (Arabian) horse world and I’m finally starting to follow my dream. Besides my regular office job, I have started 2 years ago with several educations to help horses mentally and physically. My goal is to have a partnership that is built on trust with horses and also help other owners to achieve this. But this is not enough as I see a lot of physical problems with horses because how they are bred, or because of how we train the horses, and I’m starting with an education for cranio-sacral therapist for horses. If you have problems with your horse, don’t run from it but find the right help and learn from it! If you want to work with horses, my advice would be to visit or work with trainers from different disciplines and other breeds. Learn not only how to train a horse, but also observe how horses learn, think, react and respond. Learn about the anatomy and biomechanics of horses. Learn about the primal needs for horses like good quality roughage 24-7, a lot of freedom so they can move enough and playing and grooming with other horses. And always go with an empty mind to your horses. If you want to be a breeder, talk with great breeders and learn from their experience. Study the pedigrees and genetics. Never breed for just a pretty face, but also acknowledge the importance of a good body, character, strong legs and functional movement.

My name is Esther Detailleur, 22 years old and born in Belgium. I’m passionated about the Arabian horse and studying Veterinary Medicine. I’m raised on a small farm with Arabian horses and inherited the passion & respect for the breed from my dad. He never obligated me and my 2 sisters to follow his passion but we all got “arabitis”. Growing up with these beautiful horses combined with a big interest in healing animals resulted in applying at the University of Ghent to study Veterinary Medicine. The opportunities I get because of the Arabian horse world are priceless. It’s a small world with an unbelievable variety of characters all sharing the
same passion. Which I think is very interesting, I love to hear everyone’s vision and sharing my opinion & knowledge and how I see my “perfect Arabian”. I may be young but I mostly grew up surrounded by older people which I think made me very social, strong and determined to follow my ideas. Since I was a little kid I went to every show with my dad, always wanting to learn about the breed and discussing how to look at horses. In the future (after graduating) I would love to become a judge. I think it’s one of the coolest things to do, sharing your vision about the breed while experiencing different cultures, explore new places and meeting interesting people. As I literally grew up in this world with a well respected dad & family, I never felt being a woman was/is an issue.

I am Auroxochitl Monteiro, a veterinary doctor specialized in equine reproduction, and my contact with horses has always been something very special. On holiday trips, or wherever we went, was always looking for them, felt an inexplicable need to be close. Thus my mother in 1988 started a breeding of horses Quarter-Mile, a place where I simply lived intensely with them, watching and forming even without knowing a base of knowledge that make much difference to me today. As a veterinary doctor, I went to see an Arabian horse breed owned by my husband Leonardo Machado, and was something instantaneous to fall in love with these extreme majestic creatures. I started a work ten years ago and currently I dedicate myself totally to the breeding program at Haras ESJ in Peabiru, Paraná. Today what I seek most is to perfect breeding techniques with a focus on neonatology, giving greater care to the crucial point during the mares’
gestation, at birth, in a naturally monitorable manner. Giving up has never been an option in my history with them, because the feeling that has always kept me close is the strongest thing I have in my life. Logically there have been bad and very difficult moments, yes, until today, but they have been overcome with every success that we learn to contemplate daily. I think that with dedication and willpower to overcome limitations you can really see improvements within a creation project. This coupled with the relentless pursuit of knowledge are fundamental principles for the results to be palpable. Any woman who demonstrates that with persistence you can transform your results and is able to achieve anything, certainly inspires unconscious admiration, because we are endowed with endless resilience.

SPECIAL I am a Pole who has lived all her life with horses, animals and nature. Even though I was born in Warsaw and spent most of my life in a big city, I never became a man “from the concrete jungle”. Choosing to study at the Agricultural University in Warsaw was a consequence of my life passions: horse riding and contact with horses. After graduation, I met on my way a person who changed my life, Izabella Zawadzka. It was she who invited me to the “world of Arabian Horses”. Once I entered this land, I never wanted to leave it. After two years of internship at the studs: Janów Podlaski, Michałów, Białka and Kurozwęki, I started working in the Horse Breeding Department in Agricultural Property Agency (the owner of the State Studs, now named KOWR), first as Izabela’s assistant, then as an independent worker (Inspector of Horse Breeding). I’ve been working like this for over 20 years. I got involved with Arabian horses by conviction, love and profession. There is no greater blessing than when your passion becomes your profession. For five years I have been running my own company dealing with breeding consulting and horse transport. I am also the manager of the private stud Regina Arabians. I’m not sure if I would make any special difference to being a woman in this world. Being a human being, in the full sense of the word, is a privilege on the one hand, and a commitment on the other. But yes, the Arabian horse world is mostly a man’s world. Although there are more and more women in it and they have a higher and higher position. I must admit that I have never personally
encountered any disrespectful or condescending treatment. And I never felt like a “second-class man” in the past. I grew up in a home where education and selfdevelopment were of great importance. My parents always inspired me to act, no matter what path I chose. The support and role models I learned from home turned out to be invaluable in my life. As in most professions, atypical for women, we have to prove much more often than men that we have a brain, that we can be as professional, professionally prepared, and even better than men. Unfortunately, stereotypes still prevail, fortunately this is changing. Intelligence, steadfastness, consistency, adaptability are in my opinion the qualities one must have in order to pursue a dream. Women, in my opinion, are “multi-instrumentalists”, they can do and think about several projects at the same time. They have a divisibility of attention that is difficult for men to attain. Women can be great if they want to be good at something. And they can be great at several things at once. I was asked if I think that my experience and history can be an inspiration for a future generation of women in this world. Oh no, I don’t have such ambitions! My story is not unique or special. It’s just that, if you have a passion in life, if you believe in something deeply, it is easier to find the motivation to overcome difficulties. A woman falls and can get up because she has a goal. It is a driving force to act, inspiring.

hile summer looked pretty much like fall in France during July and August, it is under very high temperatures that took place the second edition of the French (ational Days of Arabian Horses. A concept dedicated to the Arabian Horse and its actors, as wished and created by the executive board of the French Arabian horses’ association (Aca) and its President Mr Stéphane Chazel.
The historical stadium of Sichon designed by Mr Gustave Eiffel himself welcomed two events from August 13 to 15 2021. Over 50 studs were present during the 3 days competition which is, this year again, a big step forward in the future ofthe breeding in France. First day: The endurance breeding Finale opened the national days. Second day: it was a big day with the qualification classes of the French (ational Arabian horse show and a breeders
night reuniting actors of the three disciplines (endurance, show and flat race). Third day: French (ationals Championships and special trophies before we all joined the hippodrome to watch two flat races dedicated to pure arabian horses and sponsored by the Royal Cavalry ofOman and Aca. The classes of the endurance breeding finale are divided by sex and age: from 1 to 3 years old fillies and colts / geldings which were selected on 14 different competitions throughout the summer in France. The judging panel was: Mr Yves Richardier, Mr Didier Riviére and Mr Marc Veray. Compared to our usual Arabian horse shows which purpose is to rate characteristics of the breed, judges use a rating sheet directed toward the purpose of “endurance”. President Mr Stéphane Chazel took the occasion to thank Mr Yves Richardier for his work in favor of the Arabian Horse Breeding in France and worldwide.

The 48th edition ofthe French (ational Arabian horse show was again a proof that we are moving forward in the right direction. (ot only in quantity and quality of horse but also in the quality of exchanges between breeders. The evening started trophy Aca which awarded two horses:
Aca for her breeder Miroslaw Rogowski, owner of Evopegasus. The stud is based on breeding Polish lines in France. The filly was silver medal in the endurance breeding finale 2021 and participated in the French (ationals as well.
Ekisma Al Hevan (Shamilah Makassar x Evangelissa | Taif), bred and owned by Ms Marine Lamoureux. The 10 years old bay mare reunites the qualities we except in an Arabian horse: beauty and performance. Indeed, Ekisma has won 3 endurance races of 120km (ridden by her owner) and succeeded in the French (ational Arabian horse shows in the past. And has good blood doesn’t lie, the daughter of Ekisma, Esmaelia Al Hevan (x Emerald J) was crowned Gold champion senior mare, highest score of the show and Best in show senior mare!
At sunset the stallions’ classes started with the 4 years old stallions and 5 years and over stallions followed by the breeder’s night. The goal is to reunite the actors of the Arabian horse to meet, exchange, focus on development and party until late…
Sharada Evopegasus was the second horse to win the trophy

ARABIAN HORSE WEEKEND 2021 SHOWS AND EVENTS
text by: Aad Oomen photos by: Paola Drera, Henrike Hörmann

lso this year, the Arabian Horse Weekend had to be reschedule from its original date in May because of the COVID-19 measurements. Holland’s most famous outdoor Arabian horse show was held in the weekend of 21 and 22 August at the Dutch Equestrian Estate in Schaijk. The Stoop family again organized an ECAHO ational C Show, a Straight Egyptian Cup and an ECAHO International C Show, bringing together hundreds of Arabian horse enthusiasts at the beautifully arranged venue with an even better atmosphere!
Saturday August 21 National C Show The Arabian Horse Weekend started on Saturday at 8. 30 am with the ECAHO *ational C Show. The judges for this show were Mr. Emrys Jones from the United Kingdom, Mr. Ali Darawsha from Israel and Mrs. Amira Safady from the

*etherlands. For this article, I limit myself to the top five of horses in case a class consisted out ofmore than five horses. For further results I refer to the website ofArabian Essence (www. arabianessence. tv). The first class of the day started at 8. 30 am and it was the class of yearling fillies, having five out of the six entries present. The big and beautiful bay Harasha S (Shadowfax x Ter Waele Habiba), bred and owned by Shakova Arabians, trotted herself to the first position with a very showy attitude. She was followed by KA Salma Padrona (Kanz Albidayer x Shani Padrona), bred and owned by *adine Koo from Koo Arabians, on the second place. This filly has a lot oftype and a beautiful front, but was a bit nervous and therefore did hold back in her movement. The third place was for the very typical Adalat Al Dawla (WH Justice x ASE Bisiriya Hlayyil), bred and owned by Al Dawla Arabians. This filly trotted the whole arena in one go. KA Wanessa (Magic Magnifique x Wolante), bred and owned by Koo Arabians, really started to enjoy it and got her tail up
SHOWS AND EVENTS beautifully while trotting for the fourth position. Jayali Bahirah D (Ali Khan x Julia di Mar), bred and owned by Dede Kpabitey, closed the top five. This little chestnut really has the looks from her sire Ali Khan!
was placed third, followed by F&M Yameena (Tameen x F&M Karmaya), bred and owned by F&M Arabians. This mare has a great confirmation, remarkable movements and eyes to die for. In this strong class she lined up fourth.
A second class of junior fillies, that of the two year old, commenced with six competitors. Kalifa PKA (RFI Farid x Kadira), bred and owned by Petra Mulder of PeKa Arabians, took the win her. She is a very elegant filly, that put her tail op like a flag and showed with confidence. IEA Mounjia (BS Karanji x Madiya), bred and owned by Ineke van Wengerden of Idol’s Eye Arabians, placed second. This grey filly is a born show girl and she gained the first 20 of the day on her great movements. ES Aluna (Shiraz de Lafon x Lady Amarisa), bred and owned by Els Stegeman of ES Arabians, snorted loudly and obviously was enjoying herself in the arena. She took a well deserved third place. Another Shiraz de Lafon-daughter, *. D. ’s Andorra (out of Amerika), bred and owned by Onno Dopper of*aim Dahabi Arabians, was placed fourth. This well-balanced filly was very impressed by her surroundings and therefore she cowered, resulting in a bit flat presentation. *evertheless she is a nice filly from a beautiful dam line. Fayyah * (BB Escondhio x EPA Shierra), bred and owned by *aomi Lindhout-Hoffman, moved well and made the top five complete.
Again four competitors in the class of eight years and older mares, in which the classic beauty with formidable movements Gandahara (Pegasus x Georgia), bred by Michałow Stud from Poland and owned by Rob Heijmans, took the win with a great score of 91. 50. Another Polish treasure, Złota Ziwa (Kabsztad x Ziwa) bred by Gustaw Leksa from Poland and owned by Koo Arabians, was placed second, a very feminine mare with a strong motor in the back, given her powerful movements. Mirtasza (Mir Khan x Palotasza QQ), bred by Brouwer Arabians and owned by Chelsea Bloeme was placed third. This beautiful *Elitemare is back from intense sick leave and shone like a mirror; and how nice to see that Chelsea did present her mare herself. Barta (HS Etiquette x Biruta), bred by Janow Podlaski Stud from Poland and also owned by Rob Heijmans, closed the class as fourth.
Two out of three entries in the class of three year old fillies then entered the arena, and the victory here went to MT Morning Rose T (Elle *arcisse x Rohara Morning Glory *A). A very chic, bay filly with a fantastic stand-up and incredible neck, bred by Magnus Tingshagen & Tara Arabians from Sweden and owned by Fransisca Cornet. F&M Last Princess of Karma (Forelock’s Shaheen x YA Karma), bred by F&M Arabians and owned by R. van Duijn, impressed with her great movements, which also were awarded with one 20 and she was allowed to line up as second. With this class the junior fillies section of the *ational C show was done and it was time for the senior mares. In the class of four to seven years old mares, it was the eyecatcher Forelock’s Yinx (FS Reflection x ForelocksYessy), bred and owned by Forelock’s Arabians, that took pole position, with a staggering score of 92. 42. This mare with her striking markings and lots oftype simply conquered the arena with a loud snore and movements that were awarded with 20. The more large-framed Saffron Lilly SW (Gzavi x TF Shahzamore), bred by Suweco Stud from the Czech Republic and owned by Rob Heijmans, has a beautiful head with bright eyes and she moved with a wide stride; she was placed second. The grey MVH Lamise (D’Justin x ZA Cafirah), bred and owned by Megan Vergoes Houwens, clearly has a Spanish heritage which can be seen in her front and powerful movements. This appealing mare
In the following class of geldings (also including the championship), three out of four entries appeared at the start and it was the very refined Cadanz Ghazal (Shiraz de Lafon x Cadanz Djamilah), bred and owned by Cadanz Arabians, that took the win with a first place and thus gold medal. He is a well-known competitor in the showring. The striking chestnut with eye-catching white markings IEA Gailjiano (BS Karanji x Bess-Ginger), bred and owned by Idol’s Eye Arabians, was in very good condition and expressively showed himself to a second place, taking the silver medal. The bay Avicii Lazize (Parys K x Lira di Mar), bred by the combination Paula Böhmer & Lazize Arabians and owned by Lazize Arabians, shows more confidence each time he participates and this time was placed third with a bronze medal. After the geldings, the male classes were held, starting with the yearling colts. In this class I had my own horse participating so I was a bit nervous, and as breeder and

was placed third with a bronze medal, with the nine year old ByStival Kossack (Stival x Beatrix), bred by the Kossack Stud and owned by Rob Heijmans, closing the class as fourth.
owner I was very proud that my colt Vidar Al Sahidi (Ali Khan x Valeta F) won the first place with a nice score of91, containing one 20 for his movements. His half brother Phoenix J (Ali Khan x Paris J), bred by Jadem Arabians and owned by Rob Heijmans, was placed second. Also a whitemarked chestnut with great movement, really having that “Ali look” like his brother. Forelock’s Yaell (Kanz Albidayer x Forelocks-Yessy), was placed third due to an incredible mistake of one of the judges (who erroneously gave a 15. 5 on Body & Topline). The Blue Book apparently is clear on these type ofmistakes, they cannot be corrected if it changes the ranking and therefore this typical and well build bay colt with bulging eyes missed his ticket to the championship. In the combined class oftwo and three years old colts, it was the grey Forelock’s Ssensation (RFI Farid x *A Gracy Junah) that took the win. He is a very balanced and expressive young stallion with a good front and great type. Hubertus (El Shanti x Habibi Star), bred by Farhang Fazeli from Iran and owned by R. van Duijn, was placed second, also a grey colt and quite an appealing and refined one to see. The also grey VAS *adim (Bess *urullah x Shazia Bint Valdes), bred and owned by Danielle Biesenbeek of Valdes Arabian Stud, was placed third and closed the class. In the (only) one senior class of four years and older stallions, there were four competitors and this class was therefore also directly the championship. The win, with a gold medal, was for El D’Jafaar AO (Murana’s Jassehr x *esj El Kyara), bred by Arabian Obsession from Belgium and owned by Maria Szerpak. The eldest competitor with his ten years, being a beautiful, snow white stallion with lots of type and refinement, that really stole the show. The second placed and thus silver medal was for IEA Khourani (Excalibur EA x Kadira), bred and owned by Ineke van Wengerden of Idol’s Eye Arabians, a well maturing, four year old grey stallion with clear Arabic looks. With his six years, Palermo KA (Tajj x Precious), bred by Klarenbeek Arabians and owned by Chantal Schilperpoort, is a massive and cool horse, giving away an impressive presentation. He

With the regular classed being done, it was time for the championships and special awards of the *ational C Show. The special awards were the Best Movement Trophy Female and Best Movement Trophy Male, which were won by best movers Forelock’s Yinx and Vidar Al Sahidi respectively. Then de championships started, with first the championship for junior fillies. Here it was MT Morning Rose T who conquered the bronze medal, with her fantastic stand-up. The class winner of the two year old filles, the beautiful Kalifa PKA, gained the silver medal for her owner Petra Mulder. Despite being second in her class, KA Salma Padrona made her comeback in the championship and convinced the judges, conquering the gold medal for Koo Arabians. In the championship for senior mares, the bronze medal went to Gandahara of Rob Heijmans. Despite the highest score of the show of 92. 42 and despite being a best mover, Forelock’s Yinx took the silver medal on the stage. Rob Heijmans was allowed to receive another medal, when his beautiful Saffron Lilly SW was crowned gold medal champion. The last championship of the day was the championship for junior colts, in which Phoenix J won the bronze medal for, again Rob Heijmans. Forelock’s Ssensation did earn the well deserved silver medal and, although I say it myself, I was very proud that my colt Vidar Al Sahidi won the gold medal, continuing with what he started as a foal at the Arabian Horse Weekend 2020. From all gold champions, the judges had to vote a Best of Show of the *ational C Show, and this great honor went (a bit by surprise, also for her owner who was changing at the car park) to the gold champion junior fillies, KA Salma Padrona. After this last trophy, there was a welcome lunch break, before continuing with the Straight Egyptian Cup.
Straight Egyptian Cup The Straight Egyptian Cup of the Arabian Horse Weekend had four classes, which were all also directly the championships. The judges for the Straight Egyptian Cup were Mr. Hassan Al Mannai from Qatar, Mr. Francesco Santoro from Italy and Mr. Ali Darawsha from Israel. In the first class ofjunior fillies, with two out ofthree entries present, the first place and gold medal went to Hanaya Quadaria (Kenz Albaydaa x Questurat Al Fawaz), bred and owned by *ayla Hayek of Hanaya Stud from Switzerland. A pretty grey filly from a great dam line. The still quite dark

grey *abilah AA (Kenz Albaydaa x *ashwah AA), bred by Ariela Arabians from Israel and also owned by Hanaya Stud, won the silver medal. A nice victory oftwo half-sisters and stable mates from the same stud farm. In the class and championship for senior mares, the gold medal went to Hala Al Bawady (Hilal Al *akeeb x Hedeyet Al Bawady), bred by Al Bawady Stud from Egypt and owned by Al Thumama Stud from Qatar. A snow white mare that really represents the Arabian type and seems to have walked away from a fairytale. The dam of the gold medal champion junior fillies, Questurat Al Fawaz (Al Raheb AA x HV Ramses Mishaala), bred by Kfar Arabe from Israel and owned by Hanaya Stud, won the silver medal in this class. We have seen this mare several times in the international showring before and each time I see her, she touches me. Such a feminine mare with an Arabian type that suits an ambassador for the breed. Also very nice to see mother and daughter at the same event and being able to compare. The very showy Basirah RC (Al Sa’eedi x Belquis Al *asser), bred and owned by the Royal Cavalry of Oman, closed the ranks with a third place and bronze medal, just in time to make way for her son in the next class. Three brothers competed in the next class and championship for junior colts. The grey Bahir RC (*aseem Al Rashediah x Basirah RC) is a real eyecatcher and it was not surprising that he won the class and took the gold medal home to the Sultanate of Oman. *oah O (*aseem Al Rashediah x *owara S Glam), bred by Kathleen Olssen from Sweden Arabian Stud and owned by Al Wakeel Stud from Iraq, is already very white for such a young colt, he lined up second with a silver medal. Ryani AU (*aseem Al Rashediah x FT Abda), bred and owned by Arabians Unlimited Ltd from the United Kingdom, was very hot to handle and very expressive and he won the bronze medal on a third place. D Monaf (Royal Colours x DA Aniqah), bred by Dubai Stud and owned by Al Wawan Stud from Kuwait, won the first place and thus gold medal with the senior stallions. This impressive, very nice to look at stallion, was followed by *adeer Al Rashediah (ZT Faa’iq x *K *adine), bred and owned by Al Rashediah Stud from Bahrain, with silver. Kayed Al Hayal (*ader Al Jamal x Rehan Al Jabal), bred by Atalla *idal & *ajib from Israel and owned by Al Hayal Stud from Israel, took bronze and Sohail Al Safenat (Murtajab Al *akeeb x Sanaeya), bred by Al Safenat Stud from Egypt and owned by Mr. *ashaat Al Hegazy from Egypt, was placed fourth, unfortunately just outside the medals.
Quadaria, making her breeder and owner Hanaya Stud proud. From the four gold champions, finally a Best ofShow ofthe Straight Egyptian Cup was chosen and where I thought D Monaf would take this trophy, the honorary award went – also very well deserved – to Qatar, to the beautiful Hala Al Bawady.
International C Show After the two shows, the Saturday continued with the first part of the third show, the ECAHO International C Show. For this show, the judges were Mr. Ahmed Abdelrazek from Egypt, Mr. Elyas Faraj from Bahrain, Mr. Alaa Hammad from Bahrain, Mr. Hassan Al Mannai from Qatar, Mrs. Kathleen Ohlsson from Sweden, Mr. Francesco Santoro from Italy and Mrs. Irina Stigler from Russia. The first class was the class (and also directly championship) of filly foals and four out of six entries were present. The first place went to the absolutely stunning IS Pialuna (Ascot DD x IS Piniata), bred and owned by Ismer Stud from Germany. This beautiful chestnut, full of type and elegantly build, already won at the Arabian Futurity Europe in Heilbronn two weeks earlier and did rightly so again today, an outstanding filly. The second place, was an ex aequo, but with a win on movement the silver medal was for Forelock’s Ya’Elle (Kanz Albidayer x Forelock’s Yaya), bred and owned by Forelock’s Arabians. This filly, with a great neck, upright front and strong movement, also won the Best Movement Award of the class and the trophy for Best Dutch Filly Foal. With the same score as the number two, the exquisite Husniya (Ali Khan x Bess Me Simona), bred and owned by Paula Böhmer took the third place and a bronze medal, being a real eyecatcher in the showring with her beautiful head and big black eyes. MM Milena (Palermo KA x Madam Gloria), bred and owned by Monique Meschendorp closed the class with a fourth place. In the following class of colt foals all six entries were

Italy and owned by MK Arabians from the UAE, was very enthusiast and showed herself to the third place. The chestnut Fiolah SH (Ali Khan x CA Felicity), bred and owned by Shafi Stud from Denmark, was a bit shy and with her refined, beautiful neck and proper stand-up she took a fourth place. Sarai AH (Titan AS x Magnolia *WA), bred by Said Bsoul from Israel and owned by Khaled Heeb & Omran Shibly from Isreal, a filly related to the number two, was very impressed by her surroundings and closed the ranks as fifth.
present and I must say that I found it hard to rank these little ones, especially the top three. The first place and gold medal went to CB Rembrandt (Wadee Al Shaqab x Gypsy Love *A), bred and owned by Claudia Brugman of Brugman Arabians from Belgium. This really beautiful boy is well build with big, appealing eyes, that convinced the judges of his victory. The second place and silver medal were for Emperador AT (HL El Ganador x Emara AT), bred and owned by Al Thumama Stud from Qatar, a very chic and refined colt that showed very easy and was also awarded with the Best Movement Award of the class. The chestnut Bourhani Azeem (Ajman Moniscione x Bourhani Fadissima), bred and owned by Hannelore Bourdeaux of Bourhani Arabians from German, ranked third and took the bronze medal home. The number four Ibn MMonroe SS (EKS Farajj x Marilyn Monroe Star), bred and owned by Saskia Stoker from the *etherlands, really moved like he was elastic and being barely one month old this adorable colt really held up well between the bigger boys. He was also awarded the Best Dutch Colt Foal trophy. The top five was closed by Bourhani Raffael (Sundown KA x Amalia Serondella), bred and owned by Bourhani Arabians, and although I would limit myself to the top five of each class I really think the number six in this class, F&M Yafique (Raina Solaimon x F&M Yameena), bred and owned by F&M Arabians, deserves to be mentioned, being a very complete, well moving black colt that I really liked. The yearling fillies were divided in two groups and in group A all five entries were present. The winner of this class was Luanna (Santorini x Lavinia’s Design), bred and owned by Mrs. M. and Ms. L Smith from the United Kingdom, an absolutely striking bay filly that trotted with such power and speed that her handler Rhodri Jones could barely keep up. How I enjoyed that horse taking over the arena, that of course also took the Best Movement Award ofthe class! The second place was for Lily Marie *WA (FA El Rasheem x Magdalina *WA), bred by Ole Larsen of *WA Arabians from Denmark and owned by Hanaya Stud, a super refined filly with a very extreme head. The inbred Aba Deva (Vivaldi Regalis x Mistica by Farid), bred by Andrea Barbaro from 208 | TUTTO ARABI - www.tuttoarabi.com
In the class of yearling fillies group B were all six entries present, and CBA Mona Lisa (Excalibur EA x Maharani CF), bred and owned by Claus Bouché of Bouché Arabians from Germany, took the win. This very, VERY beautiful filly is a well-known visitor ofthe Arabian Horse Weekend as she was a class winner and gold medal champion at the 2020 edition as well. The second place was for the Egyptian related Saraai AH (Shams Sharav AA x H Samba H), bred by Tzach Halak from Israel and owned by Avraham Dosh Properties Ltd from Israel, that also won the Best Movement Award of the class. Eleena AF (Emerald J x Emelia), bred and owned by Afifi Arabians from Israel, has a very beautiful head and moved like a machine, she was placed third. On the fourth place ended Hekayat Al Jawad (FA El Rasheem x Aljaleelah), bred and owned by Falah Hussain Falah Alajmi from Kuwait and the class winner of the yearling fillies at the *ational C Show, Harasha S, closed the top five. Also the class for two years old fillies was split up in two groups and group A was a nice big class with seven fillies. It was Genovia W* (Exxalt x Geneva CS), bred by JeffCollins & James Smith from the USA and owned by Al Watan Stud from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that was placed first. This almost statuesque filly was awarded with four times 20 on type and four times 20 on head, but not only beauty counts the movements had one 20 too! Kiriana J (EKS Alihandro x Marrakech J), bred by Jadem Arabians and owned by Al Sayyida Dhabia Sami Al Busaidi from the Sultanate of Oman was placed second, an appealing filly with great tail carriage and strong hind leg, that won the Best Movement Award of the class. CB Mariah Carey (ES Harir x MAH Hadiya), bred and owned by Brugman Arabians, and Bourhani Bellavera (RFI Farid x Bourhani Faddisima), bred and owned by Bourhani Arabians, ended up in such a tie of votes that there had to be a “judge choice”. This resulted in CB Mariah Carey being placed third, which I could agree to, and Bourhani Bellavera ending up fourth. The top five was completed by Evana J (Emerald J x Elgazonda), bred by Jadem Arabians and owned by Flaxman Arabians from Belgium. Group B ofthe two years old fillies had five ofthe six entries

present and was won by Maraheb Al Kamal (D Hajes x Ashira of Rohan), bred by Ali Matar Wawa Alshammari from Kuwait and owned by Samjad Stud from the UAE, followed by CBA Indiyana (Wadee Al Shaqab x Ilena El Aryes), bred and owned by Bouché Arabians. We know this dark bay filly from earlier victories such as gold medal champion and Best of Show Tulip Cup 2019, as well as medals at the Arabian Horse Weekend and Elran Cup, a real high class filly! Wahash Tameen (Shamal Al Khalediah x Bajaderka), bred and owned by Tameen Stud from Kuwait, is an expressive filly with powerful movement, that won the Best Movement Award of the class and was placed third. IS Essencia (Poseidon OS x IS Elle *ora), bred and owned by Ismer Stud, lined up as fourth and FO Zafirah (ASE Juilliard x Maderu Marloes), bred by R. J. M. Onderwater and owned by Al Mas Arabians from Israel, made the top five complete. A very nice class of young fillies, all scoring over 90. The Saturday of the Arabian Horse Weekend ended with the class of three years old fillies of the International C Show, being a very strong class with four competitors. With the highest score of the day, and I even think of the entire weekend, being 93. 20 points, the beautiful SQ Juliya (FA El Rasheem x Rohara Rebecca), bred by Al Saqran Stud from the UAE and owned by Zeid Darawsha from Israel, undoubtedly took the win. This very feminine young mare snored loudly to express her excitement and moved so well that she was awarded with a unanimous five times 20 for movement, resulting in the Best Movement Award of the class! What a way to end the day! The grey Almasa Al Muaed (Shanghai EA x LA Stravangza), bred by Mohammed Abdullah Al Sobaie from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and owned by Ali Matar Wawa Alshammari from Kuwait was placed second, also a real beauty that was on fire. Munefa Al *asser (WH Justice x Masrata Al *asser), bred by Al *asser Stud from Qatar and owned by Al Hamad Stud from Qatar has a real good Arabic type and imprint and she was really warming up during in the collecting ring before making her great entrance, trotting the entire arena without circling. SA Elegante Bella (Emerald J x *arva D) bred by Ms. Gabrielle Parker from the United Kingdom and owned by Ms. K. Alldis from the United Kingdom ended the class on the fourth place. A real tough class with four great mares, with a top 3 all scoring over 91 points.
Sunday August 22 On Sunday the day started early again at 8. 30 am, with the class and championship of the geldings. All four entries were present and already in the presentation round I could say that FA Sydney (ES Sarab x Papillon KA), bred and owned by Flaxman Arabians, would win. Although quite a young gelding with his 1, 5 years, he already has size and a good confirmation with a beautiful head. Overall he is a very good, nice horse to see and he took a well-deserved gold medal home, as well as the Best Movement Award of the class. The second place went to the very tall Master (also known as Madin, by BS Mashallah out of Sagranda), bred by Eveline Calis-de Wit and owned by Sharony Lufting. This moving machine trotted the ring powerfully with pride and conquered the silver medal for his happy owner. IEA Gailjiano (BS Karanji x Bess-Ginger), bred and owned by Idol’s Eyes Arabians took his second medal of the weekend, being the bronze medal this time. Cadanz Ghazal (Shiraz de Lafon x Cadanz Djamilah), bred and owned by Cadanz Arabians, did not continue his golden victory of the day before and, despite his very exotic type, had to line up as fourth. The International C Show then continued with the class of four to six years old mares, composed ofsix competitors. SQ Rasheda (ES Harir x Stellaris BPA), bred by Al Saqran Stud from the UAE and owned by *azareth Stud from Greece, won this class. Although not as strong in her movement like the other competitors, she absolutely made up with her beautiful head, staggering eyes and formidable stand-up. A very chic mare that catches the eye! The inbred KA Baseemah (Shanghai EA x DA Princess of Justice), bred by Ajman Stud from the UAE and owned by Samjad Stud from the UAE, has tons oftype and this grey mare was allowed to line up second. The bay Mahera RC (SMA Magic One x GH Marwana), bred and owned by the Royal Cavalry of Oman, is a mare with size and with a good cadence in her trot; she showed herself with confidence to a third place. The beautiful dark bay Bo. A. S. Emeraya (Emerald J x Bo. A. S. *aganya), bred and owned by Ruth Wenzel-Meier of Bolero
And with the end of the junior filly classes of the International C Show, the Saturday of the Arabian Horse Weekend came to an end. The horses went back to the stables, to their well deserved hay and straw bed, and all handlers, owners and visitors went home or to their hotel for their beckoning drinks and dinners, all recharging for the second day ofthe Arabian Horse Weekend.

Arabian Stud from Switzerland, did move wonderfully, which was awarded with a 20 and I must say I was surprised there were not more 20’s on the scoreboard. She snored and well balanced trotted the entire round without circling, which resulted in a fourth place and also the Best Movement Award of the class. The top five was completed by Bourhani Fadissima (Fadi Al Shaqab x AB Bellissima), bred and owned by Bourhani Arabians, a very nice bay mare ofwhich we already saw two offspring this weekend. I think the class of seven to nine years old mares was my favorite class of the entire weekend. Five wonderful mares made their appearance and all scored higher than 91 points! On the first place ended the crowd’s favorite, Anawa (Abyad AA x Anarchia), bred by Janow Podlaski Stud from Poland and owned by Mr. & Mrs. D. Smith from the United Kingdom. A very feminine mare, a Polish treasure, that was very showy and with her unanimous 20 for movement she had the spectators on their chairs with goosebumps allover, of course also winning the Best Movement Award of the class. The second place was for ROE Layya (Ajman Moniscione x ZT Ludjbrosiaa), bred and owned by Round Oak Arabians from the United Kingdom. This well-known visitor ofthe European showring has outstanding eyes and a beautiful head, for which she received multiple 20’s. Also the grey *ahal (Shanghai EA x GS Libera), bred by Gianfranco Di Giovanni from Italy and owned by Hanaya Stud, has visited many international shows already and she was placed third. Her beauty and type would suggest a higher ranking but unfortunately her constant galop did attenuate her overall presentation a bit, nevertheless resulting in a score of 91. 85. CAP Bianca (Shanghai EA x Arabians Blanca), bred by Ganaderia Pedro Carriedo Cubillas from Spain and owned by Alqasmiah Stud from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was placed fourth and this really tough class of senior mares was closed by the dancing, blowing and very chic chestnut KAS Dalida (Ajman Moniscione x Athenaa), bred by Wenche Roefs of the Kubination Arabian Stud from Belgium and owned by the Royal Cavalry ofOman, who was placed fifth.

The mares section of the International C Show was closed by the last class for senior mares, the mares often years and older. Two entries, both present, and the first place went to the beautiful Meqbilat Athbah (QR Marc x Martinique J), bred by Athbah Stud from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabian and owned by Ajmal Stud from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. A very good score of 92. 60 and a mare with a nice stand-up, elegant neck and such a bright white color that your eyes water. The second place was for the chestnut Felicja Galaa (Kir Galaa x Alicja Galaa), bred by P. Piastra from Italy and owned by Rob Heijmans, who really took every corner ofthe arena with her strong and balanced movements, winning the Best Movement Award of the class besides her second place. All junior colt classes ofthe International C show were held before the lunch break and the class for yearling colts was split in two. In group A four of the six entries were present and the winner was CBA Incredible (Wadee Al Shaqab x Ilena El Aryes), bred and owned by Bouché Arabians and full brother to the filly CBA Indiyana shown earlier that day. An already well matured grey colt with a typical head and very strong movements, which also brought him the Best Movement Award ofthe class. On the second place we found Barq Samjad (FA El Rasheem x Elizia Alfabia), bred and owned by Samjad Stud, a very refined grey colt with attitude that however was a bit nervous resulting in galop. The third place was for JS Prince *ajuba (Masoun Al Adeyat x Helena), bred and owned by JS *ajuba Arabians from Switzerland and the class was closed by the full brother of world champion Admiraal, named Commodore (Emerald J x Haniyyah), bred and owned by Mr. & Mrs. E. Jones from the United Kingdom, a tall, high legged colt with an incredible neck. In group B of the yearling colts, four out of five entries entered the arena and the winner, in a tie won by type, was IS Enos (Poseidon OS x IS Et Tu), bred and owned by Ismer Arabians. A well-build grey colt with beautiful big eyes and a great stand-up, who also won the Best Movement Award of the class. The chestnut CB Galaxy (Excalibur EA x Gypsy Love *A), bred and owned by Brugman Arabians, took the second place with his tons of attitude and impressive front. *essim *J (Santorini x *esma Al Fares), bred by *. Gerard from France and owned by Rob Heijmans, gave a very nice appearance with a showy attitude and good movement. A good colt with the imprint we see often with Santorini offspring. AJ Marius (RFI Farid x WW Imania Apal), bred and owned by Ajman Stud, lined up as fourth. Three competitors were present in the next class of two years old colts, where Jaser Al Rabi (Excalibur EA x Jayda Al Rabi), bred by Ashraf Rabi of Rabi Arabians from the USA and owned by Ajmal Stud, stole the show with his great

appearance. An eyecatcher of a colt with an impressive, refined front and lots of type that really came out in a fantastic stand-up. But not only in looks, also in movement he excelled, winning the Best Movement Award of the class. Hermes MP (Shanghai EA x Margaux des Alpes), bred by MP Arabians from Israel and owned by Haim Gerbi from Israel, is a more compact horse that showed himself with a his tail up in a good tail carriage, ending at a second place. The grey IS Maranello (Parys K x Amurath Mofeedah), bred and owned by Ismer Stud, made the class complete with his third place. The class of three years old colts had three out of four entries in the arena, with the first place going to the very bright white stallion Pandorez O (Shanghai EA x Pocahontas K), bred by Kathleen Ohlsson of Sweden Arabian Stud, owned by Al Jalyla Stud from the United Kingdom and leased by Al Watan Stud. This exotic outshined in looks but also in movement, winning the Best Movement Award ofthe class. The tall, bay Laheeb RC (RFI Farid x GH Marwana), bred and owned by the Royal Cavalry of Oman, is another, less feminine type of stallion than the first placed, with more size and higher on the legs. A really nice stallion to see going around in the showring, being placed second. Dakar Del Palazzotto (FA El Rasheem x Donna Diva), bred by Az. Agr. Il Palazzotto die Paolo Capecci from Italy and owned by Premium Stud from Kuwait, lined up as third, a pretty young colt with size, descending from a good producing dam line. A welldeserved lunch break then commenced, in which the hospitable nature of Brabant with the lead from Ine Stoop offered sumptuous bites for the inner man. After the break the International C Show continued with the senior stallion classes, beginning with the class offour to six years old stallions. In this class five out of six entries were present, and the very beautiful Harbi Al Adwan (Asfoor Al Waab x Wadha Al Adwan), bred and owned by Adwan Ateej Basheer Al Adwani from Kuwait, a stallion with an interesting outcross pedigree, won the class with a score of 92. 35, with three times 20 on his formidable type! He also won the Best Movement Award ofthe class, with one 20 and four times 19. 5 on his strong movement, especially his trot! The remarkable chestnut Bugatti (Master Design GA x Lyanka), bred by Mr. & Mrs. E. Jones and owned by Anna Joyce from the United Kingdom, impressed also with his outstanding movements and never-ending attitude, which brought him a second place. The pretty Jolan AF (Jalal AF x SK Al Shahila), bred and owned by Afifi Arabians, became Best of Show at the Arabian Horse Weekend in 2019, and although still a very good, beautiful stallion he now just missed the ticket to the championships with a third place. His half-brother Enaf AF (Emerald J x SK Al Shahila), now owned by Taleen Stud from Israel, was placed right next to
him on a fourth place and the ranking of the class was completed by El Geronimo (SMA Magic One x Giulietta), bred and owned by J. G. Liefers-Vriendts from Germany, an imposing stallion with size, with a good front and strong trot. With two ordinary halter classes to go before the championships, the class of seven and eight years old stallions kicked-off, with the grey Woj (Empire x Waranga), bred by Michałow Stud and owned by Flaxman Arabians, winning the class. This stallion is a very complete horse, in good confirmation, that moves with power. With a winning score of92. 45, he also took the Best Movement Award ofthe class. The more long-lined Aali Farid (RFI Farid x AJ Deena), bred by Ajman Stud and owned by Premium Stud, scored equally on his beautiful type and head, and with a score of91. 15 he lined up second. In the last class of senior stallions, the stallions of nine years and older, we saw Munir Al Adeyat (WH Justice x GH Marwana), bred and owned by the Royal Cavalry of Oman, take the victory. He is a very appealing chestnut with a good Arabic type and I think he earned a well-deserved first place, also winning the Best Movement Award of the class with his impressive and smooth movements. Also very nice to have seen thee offspring of the same dam in the International C Show, with Mahera RC in the four to six years old mares, Laheeb RC in the three year old colts and now Munir Al Adeyat in the senior stallions. The Karamasov SGE (*agadir x Korona II), bred and owned by Silvia Garde-Ehlert from Germany, is a classic stallion from Russian heritage, that made a good impression in the arena with powerful movements and a great tail carriage and he was placed second, therewith ending the stallion classes and the halter class overall. Before moving on to the championships, there were several special awards to be granted. The first award was the award for the Best Dutch Arabian Horse, which was given to the horse that is bred in the *etherlands and owned by a Dutch owner and has the highest points in the International C

Show. With the foals having their own Best Dutch Award, this award went therefore to the gelding Master and his very happy owner Sharony Lufting.
the bronze medal went to ROE Layya. I must say that it came as a complete surprise to me that the wonderful Anawa, with her pretty exterior and unbelievable movements, did not earn a medal… . .
The Best Movement of the Show award was granted to the horse with the highest score on movement and although SQ Juliya shared the score with Anawa, she won the tie due to higher points on legs. The Best Head trophy was granted to the horse with the highest points for head and this trophy was won by the beautiful Genovia W*. The winner of the Best Breeder/Owner trophy went to Adwan Ateej Basheer Al Adwani for Harbi Al Adwan, being the horse with the highest points that is still owned by the breeder. In the championship for yearling fillies, the gold medal went to the beautiful CBA Mona Lisa, who made her breeder and owner Claus Bouché proud again by continuing her Arabian Horse Weekend glory of 2020. Lily Marie *WA, with here extreme face, took the silver medal, this time beating her class superior Luanna, probably with her stand-up. The very well moving, gorgeous Luanna nevertheless got a place on the podium with a bronze medal for her owners of Armada Arabians, the Smith family, from the United Kingdom. The championship for junior fillies was a though battle with a hard job for the judges, I did not envy them. The gold medal went to the pretty chestnut with the highest score of the show, SQ Juliya, followed with a silver medal for the famous Genovia W* with her beautiful head. The beautiful dark bay CBA Indiyana had a fantastic presentation in the championship but unfortunately she was left out of the medals. Also the Shanghai EA daughter Almasa Al Muaed on the lead with Rhodri Jones was a fantastic eye-catcher, but also she did not make it to the medals. Instead, the bronze medal went to Maraheb Al Akmal for Samjad Stud. In the champion for senior mares, the gold medal went to SQ Rasheda, with her super face, great eyes and incredible stand-up. The silver medal went to Meqbilat Athbah, while

In the championship for yearling colts, it was CBA Incredible that won a gold medal, again for a proud Claus Bouché. The silver medal also went to Germany, to Ismer Stud, for the colt IS Enos. Barq Samjad took the bronze medal with him to the UAE. The bay Jaser Al Rabi won, not unexpected and well-deserved, the gold medal with the silver medal being there for the exotic Pandorez O. Hermes MP completed the championship line-up for junior colts with the bronze medal for his owners from Israel. The last championship was that of the senior stallions, where the very complete Woj won the gold medal for Flaxman Arabians. Harbi Al Adwan won the silver medal for his breeder/owner from Kuwait and Aali Farid took the bronze medal home, also to Kuwait. The last award of the day to be forgiven, was the trophy for Best of Show. From all gold medal champions, the judges had to pick their overall favorite. After another good look, a good (re)consideration and final decision of each judge, the votes were counted. It was the gold medal champion of the senior mares, SQ Rasheda, that won this ultimate honor of being crowned Best of Show of the International C Show of the Arabian Horse Weekend. This brought the Arabian Horse Weekend 2021 to an end. With a last refreshing drink a chat and a hug, people bid one another a warm farewell, until the next show, until the next edition of the Arabian Horse Weekend. A big shout out to Pieter, Ine and Annelieke Stoop and Ralf Hesen, for making this wonderful show possible again. I think we are all looking forward already to the 2022 edition, that this time will take place on the original date in May, if the international health situation allows it. See you all then!

t August 1st 2021 the Aljassimya Amateur Challenge was once again organized by the Stoop family at Manege het Keelven in Someren, The -etherlands. The well-known concept which enables amateur handlers to show their own horses and focus on having fun drew great attention, and many found their way to this atmospheric location in the south ofour little country. With almost 85 starts it was promising to be a great day filled with show in hand classes, trail, and ridden classes. Although the Dutch summer had been a bit of a let-down so far, the sun shone brightly and added to the great vibe.

Gerard, won over the judges and grabbed the gold, while his stablemate Phoenix J (Ali Khan x Paris J), bred by Jadem Arabians, took the silver medal. The bronze medal was won by the gelding Awab (-ofal -K x Gypsy el Madan), bred by P. Hosay & A. Toikkanen, owned by A. Stoop and presented by R. Hesen.

The show continued with the -ovice level, for those (both handler and horse) who have the least showing experience. Great presentations by all of them, but in the end it was the 20 year old showing machine Felicja Galaa (Kir Galaa x Alicja Galaa), bred by P. Piastra, who outclassed all of them while being presented by perhaps the youngest handler of the weekend, Tommie Verhoeven. Felicja Galaa set the highest score of the day and brought home the gold for her owner Rob Heijmans. Silver went to the gelding AR Sinan Azim (AR Sivmayall x Chantal’s Aziza), bred by I. The gold medal was won by the yearling filly Jayali Bahirah D (Ali Khan x Julia di Mar), a striking chestnut bred, owned and beautifully presented by Dede Kpabitey. Silver went to Habibs Robina (ByStival Kossack x GB Habibi), bred and owned by Habibs Arabians and presented by Kaylee Roele, who also presented the bronze medal winning gelding Magic for Life KA (WH Justice x Melanieta KA), bred by Knocke Arabians and owned by A. The surprise ofthe day was the oldest handler, Pieter Stoop, who had his first competition ever. A true novice, but aided by the more experienced Kashmira Lazize he won the silver medal in this strong class. Bronze went to Veronique Vervoort with Gloriet Psyche (Padrons Psyche x Glorietta), bred by S. Redestowicz and owned by J. Rosowski. Suzanne van Leeuwen and SA Asiyah were in a league of their own this weekend, and won the gold medal in the Trail Advanced (under saddle). To top it off they also won the gold in the Western Pleasure Advanced. Silver in this class went to Juan Murillo with the grey stallion Aja Angelo (WH Justice x Aja Aaisha), bred by Aja Arabians and owned by Al Baydaa Farm. Bronze in the Western Pleasure went to Melissa van Genechten and Ananyaah (Ajman Moniscione x Aishaa), bred and owned by R. Heckenbuecker.
More successes for the Murillo family in the Western Pleasure -ovice class, where Juan took the gold with VDB Fa’iz (Fadi al Shaqab x Bint Alianna), bred and owned by VDB Arabians). Maya Murillo, his daughter, won the silver medal with MJ Morania (Morowan KA x AHC Esfania). The bronze medal was won by Hanne Anthonissen and MJ Wild -arciza (Profender KA x MJ Cantress). Both the bronze and silver medal winners are proudly bred and owned by the Murillo family. Onwards with the Junior classes, where young horses aged 4 and 5 get a chance to gain experience without having to go up against horses that have seen and done it all. Anouk Daris and her part bred -ena van de Beekerheide (-eptune van de Beekerheide x Imara van de Beekerheide), bred by Stal Beekerheide, proved to be unbeatable and won both the gold medal Classic Pleasure and the gold medal Hunter Pleasure! A big class in the Classic Pleasure -ovice, that was won by the stunning combination of Mellanie Robben and the impressive *Elite stallion ByStival Kossack (Stival x Beatrix), bred by the Kossack Stud and owned by Rob Heijmans. Silver medal went to the grey CS Coconut Jack (Mystic Dream J x EM Pinacolada), bred owned and ridden by Charissa Schutte. The part bred Maeday (Fergie x Veerle-Lois) won the bronze medal with her owner Stella van Beers. More success for this combination as they also took the silver in the Hunter Pleasure Advanced! ecause the concept is so great to attract new handlers and horses to shows the Dutch studbook planned yet another Aljassimya show, this time combining it with the Dutch -ational Championship Show. Set in Exloo, way up high north in The -etherlands. Distances might be small in a country where you can drive from one side to the other in about three hours, but that also means that us Dutch people get used to those short distances. Luckily, although Exloo is quite a drive for most competitors, it is also very worthwhile with its great atmosphere and history ofmany great shows. The possibility to compete both days made it extra attractive, and both shows were a great success! At Saturday September 11th the Aljassimya Amateur Challenge took place. The show in hand classes were judged by Jonas Salzmann (Kuwait), Amira Safady (The -etherlands) and Karin Zeevenhoven (The -etherlands). Again the day was started with the show in hand classes,
and the complete show setting proved to be a lot to take in for many of the inexperienced horses! Guided by, in many cases, their loving owners they trotted their socks off for them. In the -ovice Championship it was the smoothly built colt Kizbe Zanzibar (Solaris x Venus bint Vegas), bred by K. Zeevenhoven and presented by Bibi van Wijk, who took the gold for his owner Shakova Arabians. A tie between silver and bronze, but with higher points for harmony silver went to -akuna Kossack (Kunar T x -aomi C Kossack), bred by the Kossack Stud, owned by F. Morees and presented by Lize Jimmink. The bronze medal went to the snow white gelding AR Sinan Azim (AR Sivmayall x Chantal’s Aziza), bred by I. Only two competitors in the In Hand Trail Advanced. The ever so steady combination ofSuzanne van Leeuwen with SA Asiyah (Biblion x AF Shanaya), bred by Y. With only 0, 5 point difference the silver medal went to Annelieke Stoop and Kashmira Lazize (Idzard x Paroeska), bred and owned by Annelieke Stoop. Again a big class in the In Hand Trail -ovice with 12 competitors. A definite challenge to get these often inexperienced horses through the course in a ‘real showring’ while keeping them focused! It was the seemingly always laid back Aura’s Yah’ri -adim (Yanour Hayati x La Margneta Aura), bred, owned and presented by Michelle de Groot-Schoutens who didn’t set a foot wrong and won the gold medal. One competitor in the Trail (under saddle) Advanced with Suzanne van Leeuwen and SA Asiyah, setting a great score and winning the gold medal. The slightest mistake can get you disqualified in many ofthe western classes, so being the only competitor certainly doesn’t guarantee a first place! Again one competitor and thus a gold medal in both the Trail (under saddle) -ovice and Western Pleasure -ovice with Ero’s Vanity (Vitorio TO x Raville P), bred and owned by the Van Duyvenbode family and ridden by Monica van Duyvenbode. This mare has only been under saddle for a short amount of time and is showing great promise as a riding horse. Easy to see that she loves her job! In the Classic Pleasure -ovice the gold medal went to the big chestnut gelding Master (BS Mashallah x Sagranda),
One competitor in the Classic Pleasure Advanced, where Jeanette de Bruin got to show off her white gelding AR Sinan Azim and took home the gold medal. The last class ofthe day was the Hunter Pleasure -ovice. It was La Margneta Aura (Aurilla Gold x Blittersdijk Celerina), bred by B. Scheltema, owned by Michelle de Groot-Schoutens and ridden by Brenda Conte-Gols who looked the most steady and won the gold. An impressive mare, with looks that are true to her Crabbet bloodlines! Silver went to Master and Sharony Lufting, and the grey ASE Majestika grabbed the bronze with her rider -atascha Gielen.

fter a lovely evening, some drinks, and a short night of sleep it was time for the Dutch -ational Championship Show, judged by Helen HennekensVan -es (Belgium), Tomasz Tarczynski (Poland), Eiad Safady (The -etherlands) and Bérengère Fayt (Belgium). With a €200, - cheque waiting for the top three ofeach class, thanks to ECAHO, it was proving to be an exciting day! Two great classes of geldings, divided in junior and senior, started the day. It was Magic for Life KA (Wh Justice x Melanieta KA), bred by Knocke Arabians and owned by A. Jimmink who took first place. In second place came the tall bay BA Mateo (Magic Mon Cheri x Metallica KA), bred by Bembom Arabians and owned by Lisa Krans. Third place went to Awab (-ofal -K x Gypsy el Madan), bred by A. Toikkanen & P. Hosay and owned by A. Stoop, clearly having learnt a lot from his AJF experiences he trotted around the ring a lot more bravely than he did before!
In the senior geldings class Master (BS Mashallah x Sagranda), bred by E. Calis-de Wit and owned by C-C Arabians set the highest score with his high marks for legs and movement. The tall and refined Eromanov T
(Marhaabah x Rigona), bred by L. Schutrups and owned by E. Graafland followed closely. Third place went to an exotic chestnut that is no stranger to the showring, Cadanz Ghazal (Shiraz de Lafon x Cadanz Djamilah), bred and owned by Cadanz Arabians. -ext up were the yearling colts, where Vidar al Sahidi (Ali Khan x Valeta F), bred and owned by Aad Oomen, continued his winning streak setting the highest score of the day with 92, 38. A flashy chestnut with a lot of chrome and his sire’s attitude combined with Russian power! In second place the long legged AJ Samran (AJ Mardan x Sama AM), bred by Ajman Stud and owned by Forelock's Arabians & P. Mulder. Cy-Kanz DM (Kanz Albidayer x Cymenka), bred and owned by D. Meijerman, closed the top three of this class. Steel grey Forelock's Ssensation (RFI Farid x -A Gracy Junah), bred and owned by Forelock's Arabians convinced the judges in the class of two year old colts and took first place. Elko J (Emerald J x Elgazonda), bred by Jadem Arabians and owned by Habib's Arabians came in second. -afiesa Majeed (Mahder al Jamal x Kenelm Mona Ghalia),

bred and owned by E. Besselink, showed himself very well and came in third. A lot of snort and blow in the three year old colts class. Hubertus (El Shanti x Habibi Star), bred by Fazeli Farhang and owned by R. van Duijn, came in oozing confidence and was the undisputed winner of the class with his good conformation and strong trot. The black Kashmir (Wadee al Shaqab x Katarzina al Patoula), bred by B. Claes and owned by T. Oldenburg performed better than last year but was no match for the showy grey. Time for the young ladies, where KA Salma Padrona (Kanz Albidayer x Shani Padrona), bred and owned by -. Koo convincingly won first place with her refined little face. Following closely was the big bay Harasha S (Shadowfax x Ter Waele Habiba), bred and owned by Shakova Arabians. Double success for Koo Arabians as their homebred KA Wanessa (Magic Magnifique x Wolante), took third place with a minimal difference in score. In the two year old fillies -D's Andorra (Shiraz de Lafon x Amerika), bred and owned by A. Dopper, clearly had gained

confidence from her previous show! With structure and movement true to her Russian roots she trotted through the ring with her tail up and took first place. Second came IEA Mounjia (BS Karanji x Madiyah), bred and owned by I. van Wengerden. The feminine bay Kalifa PKA (RFI Farid x Kadira), bred and owned by P. Mulder didn’t show herself like she can at home and had to settle for third. More snort and blow in the three year old fillies class. F&M Last Princess of Karma (Forelock's Shaheen x YA Karma), bred by F&M Arabians and owned by R. van Duijn, rocked the arena with her structure and incredible trot. This damline always produces incredible showy horses, and this filly sure is no exception! In second place the feminine Karymah PKA (BS Karanji x Ydola F), bred by P. Mulder and owned by M. Szerpak, who seemed a bit impressed with her surroundings. Time for the youngest ofthem all, with first up the colt foals. Ibn Mmonroe SS (EKS Farajj x Marilyn Monroe Star), bred and owned by S. Stoker is an unmistakable son of his world famous sire and trotted his little socks off, taking first place and the gold medal. In second and thus silver medal came

the slightly more classical Mutatafil H (A Kanz ofKossack x Pshyfa H), bred and owned by J. Hoogenband-Dingjan. Bronze went to his half-brother EA Padanz (A Kanz of Kossack x EA Pashshida), bred and owned by comb. G. Arends and W. Bartels. -ext up was the liberty, and it always such a joy to watch these beautiful creatures show themselves in freedom! Maghada's Shayan (TF Afrikhan Shah x Maghada), bred by P. Böhmer and owned by S. de Vos-van Rossum, trotted around the arena with great confidence and easy strides, earning him first place. The American bred black bay PA Vittoria Dancer (Sundance Kid V x Verteyna), bred by J. Frank or Sara R Chisholm and owned by D. van Gils, took a while to find her stride but it was incredible to watch her let go of her tension and feel free to enjoy herself in the showring! A double success for Forelock’s Arabians in the filly foals was next up, where Forelock’s Yza’Dhore (AJ Portofino x Forelock's Yzadora), won the gold medal under the watchful eye ofher striking and showy dam. Forelock's Ya'Elle (Kanz Albidayer x Forelock's Yaya) took the bronze medal home.
Silver went to Azalea Kossack (A Kanz ofKossack x Adream ofKossack), bred and owned by Kossack Stud. A lovely class of 4-9 year old mares trotted in, and it was Forelock's Yinx (FS Reflection x Forelock's Yessy), bred and owned by Forelock's Arabians, who impressed the most and won first place. The more compact bay Extrema J (Emerald J x Enkora), bred by Jadem Arabians and owned by M. Vriend-Jong, came in second. The lovely white MVH Lamise (D'Justin x ZA Cafirah), bred and owned by M. VergoesHouwens, is clearly showing her Spanish heritage and took the third place. True seniors in the mares 10+ class and as arrogant as a senior Arabian mare should be! At first place ZK Marazja (Marcipan x AF Zjaba), bred and owned by E. Loots, who made her owner run for it, this mare can trot! In second place the oldest competitor of the show, Prisiage (Gordon x Purga), bred by Tersk Stud (Russia) and owned by C. Loots, her 23 years might be showing in her topline but certainly not in her attitude or movement. What fun to watch her own the arena. In third place came Mirtasza (Mir Khan x Palotasza QQ), bred by Brouwer Arabians (The

-etherlands) and owned by K. de Bloeme-van Schaik, who has made a miraculous recovery from severe illness only a year ago. A true Cinderella story, and the most beautiful eyes ofthe day… After those impressive mares it was time for the big boys. In the class stallions 4-9 it was IEA Khourani (Excalibur EA x Kadira), bred and owned by I. van Wengerden, who had the most refinement and won first place. In second came the versatile bay Palermo KA (Tajj x Precious), bred by Klarenbeek Arabians (The -etherlands) and owned by C. Schilperoort. Third place went to Bratz el Clasico (El Cosimo x AF Zjaba), bred and owned by V. Dybalska. Last class of the day was that of stallions 10+, where the snow white El D'Jafaar AO (Muranas Jassehr x -esj el Kyara), bred by Arabians Obsession and owned by M. Szerpak, came in first. Another white in second place with AR Fayyim (Valerio ibn Eternity x Aicha SVA), bred by Arabian Ranch and owned by M. van Heiningen, who always knows how to win over a crowd. Straight Russian AF Acapulco (-ikel x BS Alcupa), bred by Arabian Fantasie and owned by C-C Arabians, came in more showy than

every but unfortunately wasn’t inclined to show off his elastic movements in his individual presentation, and took the third place. Onwards to the championships, where a lovely burgundy sweat rug was waiting for each gold medal winner, courtesy ofAl Shaqab Stud. In the championship Junior Fillies it was exotic KA Salma Padrona who convinced the judges with her incredible stand-up, taking home the gold medal. -D’s Andorra trotted around with her tail up once again and won the silver, while IEA Mounjia won the bronze medal for her happy owner. In the geldings championship it was the chestnut Magic for Life KA who grabbed the gold medal. Tall bay Eromanov T took the silver medal, very well shown by his owner, while the well built Master won the bronze. In the Junior Colts championship Vidar al Sahidi presented himself with the attitude he always brings to the ring. This flashy little boy seems to be able to keep going all day! Unsurprisingly he won the gold medal. The dark chestnut AJ

Samran performed very well, and won the silver medal. Snorty grey Hubertus wowed the crowd once more with his movements and brought home the bronze. -ext up was the championship Senior Mares, and it was Forelock’s Yinx who unanimously took the gold. An impressive mare that seems to only get better and better! Bold bay ZK Marazja won her excited owner the silver medal, and bronze went to Extrema J. Another unanimous gold medal in the Senior Stallions championship as EL D’Jafaar AO stood like a statue for this coveted prize. Silver went to IEA Khourani, and AR Fayyim took the bronze medal.
As per usual, the WAHO trophy is awarded during the -ational Championship Show. This year this incredible honour went to the gelding Erogant (WH Justice x Raville P), bred and owned by the Van Duyvenbode family. This refined fleabitten grey has known many successes, including winning the gold medal in the geldings class in Aachen, European titles under saddle, but most of all he is an absolute family horse and a shining example of how an Arabian horse should be: show horse, sports horse, family friend, and a loyal companion. -ext up was the Best Movement Trophy. A beautiful painting by mrs. Jopie Smarius had been sponsored for this award, and many had stopped to admire it during the day. The best

movement trophy is awarded to the horse with the highest marks in movement. If multiple horses have the same score, they will come back to battle it out in the ring. Always an absolute pleasure to watch one horse after another that can move! F&M Last Princess of Karma trotted with the utmost confidence and showed, once again, that she was deserving of the 20 she had received for movement in her class. To no surprise she was the one taking home the painting for her ecstatic owner. Last of the day was the Best Dutch Bred award, where the highest scoring Dutch bred horse from every class is shown once more to impress the judges. A lot of horses to choose from, but after ending in a tie it was Vidar al Sahidi who

had the higher score in his class and won the highest honour. Al Shaqab Stud had sponsored a breeding for the winner of this championship, and out of several options a breeding to Wadee al Shaqab was chosen by Aad Oomen. His first bred foal certainly brought him on a path of glory, and it will be exciting to see what this breeding will bring him! Thus ended a wonderful weekend in Exloo. It was marvellous seeing one another again, finally, after so many shows had to be cancelled due to Covid. The long drive to Exloo proved to be worth it once again.
