Managers Welcome Today we look forward to welcoming Hibs to Ochilview Park in the Scottish Building Society SWPL1.
Firstly I’d like to congratulate Grant Scott and the rest of his team on qualifying for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League. To win all three games in Slovenia was a great achievement considering the circumstances of playing abroad. For the growth of our game here in Scotland, it’s great to see us having two clubs in the last 32 of the competition. It seems like months ago since we last played at Ochilview Park, I guess that’s one of the problems with our current league structure with the lengthy break mid-season.
In our last league game we were disappointed not to take 3 points against Forfar in a game which we deserved to win The positives were that we felt we did enough to win the game and we played some nice football at times but couldn’t break down Forfar’s backline. We are under no illusion of how difficult a game we face as Hibs will be in a buoyant mood following their European exploits. In our last match against Hibs, we performed admirably and didn’t concede until the 70th
minute courtesy of a wonder strike from Cailin Michie. As we look to climb the table, every game is an opportunity for us to pick up points and we must treat every game like a cup final. Over the next few weeks we will start to see a few new faces join us as we welcome some new students for the new academic year which starts in September. This will increase the size of our squad for both SWPL and BUCS competitions and we will need to use our full squad over the next couple of games as we face Hibs again
on Wednesday in the Scottish Cup. Ironically we will face Hibs six times this year as we have drawn them in both cups and played in a friendly at the start of their year! We hope you enjoy the game and get behind the team for the second half of the season.
