Neodymium Oxide – A Very Useful Metal with a Number of Applications
Neodymium is an active metal, which finds application in various industries. It is stored in glass containers or in close spaces for corrosion protection. In the presence of air, it oxidizes and becomes a shiny metal, which is relatively hard. It is also known as Neodymia, mainly used in the manufacturing of glass and capacitors. The delicate shades ranging from pure violet to warm grey are made possible because of this. Whenever light is transmitted through such glasses, sharp absorption takes place. Such types of glasses are used in astronomical work so as to produce sharp bands using which spectral lines may be calibrated.
