What is a gratitude journal? Gratitude journals allow you to express how you’re feeling each day with prompts and questions to guide you through reflection. During the COVID-19 pandemic and 2020 election, this journal can be used to ground yourself during a time of uncertainty and acknowledging what you are grateful for as well as your current worries. Reflecting on this journal in the years to come can provide clarity and show your growth through this tough time. This booklet also provides resources to guide you through COVID-19 safety measures and the 2020 voter election.

Who makes you feel loved and why?

What do you like to do to relax?

Name three things that make you happy.

Who is someone that helps you?

What’s weighing heavy on your mind?

Who is someone you can check in on today?

What is a hobby you’re thankful you found?

How to stay prepared & help one another.

How to stay safe Wear a mask over your mouth and nose Consider using reusable masks to help the environment. Wash your mask Be sure to wash your reusable masks at least once a week. Keep your distance Maintain six feet from people you do not live with. Keep a close circle Socialization is important for mental health. Keep a close circle of friends/family that you meet with. Set ground rules with each other on being safe and responsible to see each other.

A Guide to Handling Tough Conversations Explain your boundaries upfront Don’t be afraid to tell your loved ones what your comfort level regarding seeing people during the pandemic is. Being honest at the beginning can help prevent issues further down the road. Lead by example Wear your mask and show responsibility against fighting the pandemic. Oftentimes, your loved ones will notice your actions and follow. Don’t be afraid to decline Because everyone has the freedom to do what they please, some people may put themselves at a higher risk to contract COVID-19 than others by their actions and lack of protective measurements. If you do not feel safe to be around someone, you can politely decline a visit and re-explain your comfort levels regarding the pandemic.

Most Trusted COVID-19 News Sources In order of most reliable: 1. CDC 2. WHO 3. State Government 4. Local Government 5. Federal Government 6. Newspapers 7. Cable TV 8. Online News 9. Social Media

How to Check a Source’s Credibility Check the actual source

Is this article coming from a news source you have heard of? Try researching the actual source’s name to read reviews and fact check.

Read beyond the headline

Lots of article headlines are written to attract attention and cause panic when sometimes the headers are not entirely accurate to the whole article. If you are interested in a news article, be sure to read all of it and analyze its message.

Check the author

Researching the author of the article can attest to their credibility as a source.

Check the date

COVID-19 is changing daily. An article posted three months ago may have facts that are no longer accurate or relevant to the current time.

Check your biases

Oftentimes, people choose to believe a false article if it aligns with their personal beliefs. Try to put aside your own opinions to read an article as an unbiased person.
