IT IS A BUSINESS INCUBATOR THAT PROVIDES RESOURCES, EXPERTISE AND ADVICE TO EMERGING ENTREPRENEURS TO HELP START, RUN, AND SCALE THEIR BUSINESSES.
THE RESEARCH CONDUCTED FOR THIS CORPORATE PROJECT INVESTIGATES HOW THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT AND THOUGHTFUL INTERIOR DESIGN CAN INFLUENCE THE SUCCESS OF COWORKING SPACES AND DETERMINE KEY FACTORS THAT INCREASE JOB SATISFACTION, OVERALL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING, AND PRODUCTIVITY.

HOSPITALITY DESIGN PROJECT DESCRIPTION THE AIM IS TO DESIGN A COMPLETELY NEW 5-STAR RESTAURANT AND UPSCALE COCKTAIL LOUNGE CONCEPT. THE FACILITY MUST OFFER THE GUESTS A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE. ALL PUBLIC FUNCTION SPACES MUST HAVE AN INTERACTIVE COMPONENT SO THE GUESTS LEARN FROM THEIR EXPERIENCE, THUS AN EDUCATION/LEARNING EXPERIENCE IS A CRITICAL FACTOR IN THE DESIGN AND FUNCTION OF ALL SPACES, BOTH PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SPACES. THE DESIGN TASK IS TO FORECAST FUTURE HOSPITALITY DESIGN TRENDS. PRIMARY EMPHASIS IS ON CIRCULATION PATTERNS, ACCESSIBILITY, AND COHESIVE TREND SETTING ENVIRONMENT FOR PEOPLE TO GATHER AND INTERACT.
CONCEPT LOCATED ALONG THE SHORELINE OF THE AEGAN SEA IN MYKONOS, ELIÁ SUPPERCLUB WILL TAKE YOU ON A GASTRONOMIC JOURNEY TO EXPLORE YOUR SENSES NOT ONLY WITH A TANTALIZING CYCLADIC CUISINE MENU BUT ALSO THROUGH A CULTURAL AND CONTEMPORARY ATMOSPHERE. NAMED AFTER THE GREEK TERM OF OLIVE, “ELIÁ” REPRESENTS PEACE AND FRIENDSHIP. THIS PROPOSED PROJECT WILL ACT AS AN ELITE SOCIAL CLUB FOR PEOPLE NEAR AND FAR TO GATHER AND ENJOY THE FINER THINGS IN LIFE. BASED ON ANCIENT GREEK HISTORY, THE DESIGN WILL REFLECT A CONTEMPORARY INTERPRETATION OF THE ELEMENTS THAT ONCE BUILT GREECE AND WILL INCLUDE SUBTLE MYTHOLOGICAL INFLUENCES WITH RESPECT FOR HISTORY AND TRADITION.

THIS WELLNESS PLATFORM INTEGRATES A HOLISTIC CARE CLINIC, A FITNESS CENTER, AND SPA AMENITIES. THE DESIGN INTENTION DEMONSTRATES HOW THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT CAN BETTER THE HEALTH OF THE COMMUNITY, WHILST HARVESTING ONE'S OWN POTENTIAL.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION THE AIM OF THIS PROJECT IS TO DEVELOP AN INTERIOR DESIGN CONCEPT PROPOSAL FOR A NEW COMMUNITY HEALTH AND WELLNESS CENTRE. THE MODEL HAS TWO MAIN HEALTH COMPONENTS: FITNESS AND THERAPEUTIC THAT WILL BE SUPPORTED BY COMMON SUPPORT SERVICES AND AMENITIES. ALL AREAS OF THE FACILITY WILL BE DESIGNED BASED ON CONSIDERATION FOR UNIVERSAL DESIGN PRINCIPLES AND DEMONSTRATE THE APPLICATION OF THE CSA GUIDELINES FOR HEALTHCARE FACILITIES IN CANADA. ALL MATERIALS AND FINISHES WILL BE SELECTED FOR APPROPRIATENESS FOR THE APPLICATION/AREA IN TERMS OF SAFETY, MAINTENANCE, DURABILITY, FLAMMABILITY, SUSTAINABILITY, AND LIFE CYCLE IN ADDITION TO OVERALL COMFORT AND AESTHETICS. THIS PROJECT PROPOSAL WAS DESIGNED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH YARA KIKI.

BIOPHILIC ELEMENTS ARE INCORPORATED THROUGH LOCALLY SOURCED MATERIALS, LARGE OPEN SPACES, AND PLENTY OF GREENERY, CREATING SYMBIOTIC RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN PHYSICAL ELEMENTS. NATURAL HUES AND TONES HAVE BEEN SUBTLY IMPLEMENTED THROUGHOUT THE INTERIOR OF THE FACILITY, MIMICKING COLOURS FOUND IN NATURE.

THE VIDL HOLISTIC SPA IS A SPACE OF RETREAT FROM THE EVERYDAY BUSY LIFE. BY CONNECTING GUESTS TO NATURE THROUGH THE APPLICATION OF ORGANIC ELEMENTS, THE GUESTS WILL FEEL AT EASE, PLEASED, AND RELAXED. AN ATTENTION TO INVITING DETAIL PLAYS OUT THROUGH THE APPLICATION OF LOCALLY SOURCED MATERIALS INCLUDING STONE, WOOD, AND CONCRETE. THE DESIGN INTENT EVOKES A CALMING ATMOSPHERE AND HARMONIZES WITH THE VIBRANT NATURAL SURROUNDINGS.
THE INTERIOR DESIGN IS INSPIRED BY THE NATURAL SHAPE AND FORMATION OF A MOUNTAIN, WITH A CLEAN CONTEMPORARY LOOK. LIGHT-FILLED ROOMS WITH WINDOWS THAT FRAME VIEWS TO THE OTTAWA RIVER ALLOW THE USER TO FEEL CLOSER TO NATURE, PROVIDING THEM AN OPTIMAL, HEALTHY EXPERIENCE. THE ATRIUM ALLOWS FOR NATURAL LIGHT TO TRAVEL THROUGH THE SPACE, CONNECTING ALL THREE LEVELS. THIS ELEMENT FUNCTIONS AS A LANDMARK FOR EFFICIENT GUEST NAVIGATION.

CHALLENGE THE GOAL OF THIS PROJECT IS TO DEVELOP A COMPLETE INTERIOR DESIGN SOLUTION FOR MICROSOFT’S COMMERCIAL OFFICE SPACE LOCATED WITHIN THE WORLD EXCHANGE PLAZA IN OTTAWA AND CONFORM TO THE MICROSOFT GLOBAL DESIGN GUIDELINES AS WELL AS MICROSOFT’S DESIGN LANGUAGE. THIS INITIAL FRAMEWORK ALLOWS THE DESIGNER TO HAVE CLEAR EXPECTATIONS OF MICROSOFT’S DESIGN STANDARDS WHILE STILL BEING ABLE TO CREATIVELY EXPRESS THE OFFICE’S REGIONAL RELEVANCY AND INDIVIDUAL AESTHETIC.

UPON ENTERING, THE CUSTOMER IS GREETED BY BEAUTIFULLY LIT DISPLAYS FEATURING NEW MERCHANDISE AND A GRAND CHANDELIER. THE MERCHANDISE IS ORGANIZED COMPARTMENTALLY TO BE MORE CUSTOMERFRIENDLY. CONCEPT SOLUTION THE AIM WAS TO CREATE A DESIGN THAT REFLECTED A “HOME AWAY FROM HOME” FEELING, A PLACE THAT WASN’T NECESSARILY WHERE YOU GREW UP, BUT IT IS NOW A PLACE OF COMFORT AND EASE. CONCEPT; SOLACE. THIS DESIGN WILL MAKE FUTURE REFUGEES FEEL WELCOMED AND COMFORTABLE THROUGH THE USE OF WARM TONES, SOFT TEXTURES, BRIGHT SPACES, NATURAL MATERIALS, AND AN AESTHETICALLY PLEASING DESIGN.
